Awful service. Made a reservation for 12 and was told we would have a "private room." We arrived to find that not only did they not have our reservation, they don't have private rooms. They seemed annoyed and put us at a table for 9. We waited for 40 minutes with no drinks or even having our order taken. Will never go back and warn others as well.

My husband and I hit Shogun for dinner earlier this week, and I'm thrilled we did! I'm a total hibachi snob (we have some GREAT hibachi in NJ!) and had been previously disappointed in TN hibachi. What our Shogun chef lacked in personality, he made up for in flavor! Our fried rice was some of the best I have ever had.

I love Shogun! I come here all the time with my friends. Whether we're celebrating birthdays or just hanging out, we always have a great time. The food is incredible and we always get a good chef. I've been coming to Shogun for years and I'll be going there for a while longer.

Shogun is a fun place to go out with your family or a group of friends. We arrived a little before our group, slightly before 5pm, and to our surprise they were closed (the open at 5). In any event... we waited and then when they did open we came in and sat at the bar, awaiting the rest of our party. It took a while (10+ minutes) for anyone to appear at the bar, and by the time they did arrive my parents, grandma & aunt had arrived. Taking my 91 y/o Grandma anywhere is a bit of a challenge... but Shogun was very accommodating. The escorted us to the first room and first table, which was great for her (and for us... we DID want to eat that night, HA!). Our server took our order promptly and kept our drinks refilled. The one thing that wasn't offered were chop sticks... and we wanted them... but that's certainly no deal breaker. When our chef came, we'd already indulged in the soup (tasty) and the salad (dressing is a little sweet... but good, none the less). He started our fried rice (not the best I'd had, but good)... then onto the veggies and volcano, seafoods & chicken and finally steak. Part of our group enjoyed the 2 Steak & Shrimp Dinners for $29.99 (print the coupon here... but they don't actually ask you for it, just mention it when you're ordering: couponclipper.com/print/… ). Their portions aren't any different with or without the coupon and the steak (just plain steak, not filet) is still good & tender! I'm a steak snob, so when I say it's totally decent... give it a shot and save $10 bucks! For dessert everyone gets Spumoni, which is a little strange since it's a Japanese place... but this Italian girl loved it! I miss being in California and visiting Benihana and their, more appropriate; green tea ice cream. YUM! It was also my mom's birthday and they came in with a giant drum, singing... first in English & then in Japanese. They also presented her with a small piece of pretty good cheesecake with a festive umbrella. For the 6 of us... we had 2, 2 for $29.99 Steak & Shrimp Hibachi Dinners, 1 Filet & Shrimp, 1 Chicken Teriyaki, a side of Scallops, 3 cokes, 1 club soda and 2 bottles of the unfiltered Nigori Sake (totally yummy!) and our bill with tip was just $160. Not bad! Shogun, considering the alternatives is my favorite Hibachi Grill. My family really enjoys the show and my mom loves the ginger sauce and seeing her food prepared right in front of her. To me, Shogun is a win!

I wish they would remodel and update this place. It is starting to look run down and sad. The last time I went, there was a leak from the hood of our hibachi table (condensation maybe?) and it was dripping on my plate! However, we go back because the food is good and my kids love it.

The place is huge so you can have quite a crowd to deal with or a serious wait when it is busy. Due to the amount of people that goes through the place it is starting to look runned down and worn. The sushi is OK and no complaints. Overall, the food was good but the cost and the crowds will keep me from returning anytime soon. There are plenty of other hibachi places arond town that are cheaper and have less crowds. The hibachi portions are huge and so is the bill.

This is a fun place to eat with a bunch of people. Its one of those places you would choose to go out to eat for you birthday at. It was very entertaining to sit around the chef as he flipped the food all over the place. The food tasted pretty good. This place is very expensive though. Your not just paying for the very high priced food, but also the entertainment.

I had just sushi in the side part of the restaurant. It was just okay. I don't know how getting the hibachi type food is, where they cook everything in front of you. But, I don't recommend it for just sushi. It is okay, but not a great place.

Boss brought the team here for a Christmas lunch and treated us to some hibachi and sushi for lunch. The sushi was fast and tasty, and the hibachi had the standard flare and fun. I didn't really see anything new that differentiated it from any other place that does this, and they could have. The meat that was on the hibachi was cooked well, but didn't have the flavor of anything seasoned, and most of the stir fry didn't have any seasoning. I get that you can add salt and pepper at your seat, but for something like this I have had places use a marinated meat that added that little extra pop to the meal. Our sushi was tasty and they got it to us in a relatively fast manner. I wouldn't call it high grade however, and Although it's not a strictly sushi place that usually uses higher grade materials, having as many version on their menu drew us to think it was. Again a way to differentiate yourself from any other place is to advertise and use high grade ingredients, even if you charge slightly more. In Brentwood, I assume one could maintain a solid clientele and possible increase it if people expected and got quality. I would return for group events for sure, and if friends wanted to meet here I would be glad to and not regret anything I bought, I just wouldn't make a trip here on my own or with my wife for a dinner.

Very overpriced mediocre experience. Food is just ok. My rice was very over cooked, like crunchy even. The guy on the grill didn't interact at all, just barely kept our food edible.

Food was okay but nothing special, very predictable. The cook was entertaining and friendly. What really ruined the whole experience is when the bill came and the waitress automatically added 18% tip. Gosh, did you ever think you might not deserve that amount? They also have some inflated prices, especially for just a chicken dinner...expect for 4 people to spend about $200, with tip automatically added.

Shogun is one of my favorite places in the Brentwood/Cool Springs area. Most of the time my Wife and I sit in the sushi bar area and we have never been disappointed with our sushi. I would not say it was as good as what I have had when I lived in Tokyo, but it does a decent job for when I get a sushi craving. We have also done the hibachi thing a few times and it was pretty good too, however not amazing as some other hibachi places I have been too. The portions were a bit small for the price. PROS -Good sushi for the Nashville area -Awesome ginger salad dressing -Tasty fried rice -Decent hibachi CONS -Can be pricey -Sometimes slow service -Hibachi portions could be bigger TIPS -Try dipping your sushi into their ginger salad dressing, it's delicious!

Ok, so it was my birthday and the hubby, boys and I went for dinner. What a disappointment. I remember when this place was great, a long time ago. Actually, I took my boys here when I moved back to Tennessee from Florida 3 years ago...it was a fiasco then too! That time, our chef kept throwing all of my shrimp at the various people around the table, for them to grab with their mouths. Most of it actually ended up on the floor. So, he did this until he ran out, and there was no more...it was my entire meal (not a combo one). He was just sort of like, "oh well. sorry." After I complained, they actually told me to come back the next day for more...didn't take it off the bill...as if I was going to go back! I wanted my shrimp right then. You know there is a serious problem is someone leaves a Japanese steakhouse hungry! geesh Fast forward three years...the memory had faded unfortunately. My main complaints were 'meh' service, another poor chef who gave me filet that was well done rather than medium rare (huge dif! all of our fillet was overcooked, and mine was actually the last one left on the table cooking)...plus I had to watch him give the others at our table (the ones not with us) loads of rice, shrimp, etc., and totally bypass us. Call me crazy, but you don't love to be invisible on your birthday. Maybe it was because we didn't add the $6 on top of our $130 meal for a souvenir cup and picture! I certainly didn't want the night immortalized in photo form...as lovely as I'm sure that would've been for our Christmas card...yeah. What a waste of $130! I have no plans of ever going back.

the food was okay, but the service was very bad. I ordered a noodles soup with crab cakes, when they brought us the food, there was no crab cakes inside of the soup bowl, expect bunch onions, green peppers and carrots. we asked the server what happened to the crab cakes like it says on the menu, he said "we're no longer doing that anymore, and it will still be the same price." they only offered one dollar discount after i complained about it. also the sever never come back to check up on us neither refill our drinks. horrible customer service, never go back again.

This is one of two Japanese steak/shushi places in Franklin. It's decent. Got a low health score a few years ago but they've cleaned it up. If anything it's a fun place. Food is usually good and seems fresh. It a great place for groups between 4 & 8. More than that and they'll split up your party due to seating. Creamy shrimp and chicken is my favorite dish.
