Greek Cuisine
Greek food is a fine melody of the finest pressed olive oil, fresh fermented bread, colorful vegetables, juicy meat, sea food all cooked in spices and fresh rosemary. The people from Greek were great scholars who aimed to excel in everything they do. The results are quite visible in their food as they are the inventors of olive oil which is beneficial to health. Greeks also made different type of wines from the best quality of grapes fermented in controlled environment.
Today, you can find hundreds of restaurants offering authentic Greek food or popularly termed as Mediterranean cuisine in New York city alone. People wait in line to taste the exotic Greek dishes like saganaki, taramasalata, souvlaki, loukoumades, spanakopita, moussaka, and many more. One thing which most people like about these authentic Greek dishes is abundant use of lemon juice, olive oil, fresh rosemary and sea salt. A smart mix of few ingredients can virtually take you on the pebble streets of beautiful city of Greece.
For those who don't have time to enjoy fine dining should try tasting the famous souvlaki with pita which is type of meat dish, also a trademark Greek fast food. For those who are vegetarian, or vegan can try different versions of Greek Salad. So, if you wish to enjoy a hearty yet healthy meal that tastes divine then try dining at the best Greek restaurant in your city. Greek cuisine not only tastes good but also help maintain your body in a natural way through healthy diet.

We love Mediterranean food, and this particular Kalamata's location is just our type of place, great food, wonderful service, and usually not overrun for dinner. The hummus is the best in town, and their Arabic-spiced salmon special is fantastic. I look for it every time I go. My husband loves their spinach pies. It's not a fancy place, it's very casual, but the food is a great bargain and very tasty.

Kalamata's is just okay. I haven't been to the original, but I'd heard it was good so we decided to stop in to the Brentwood location. I should have read the Yelp reviews first. The prices are high for the portions... $5 for pita/hummus that doesn't come with enough pita (reference photos) and $2.25 for a can of Coke. Yes, an actual can... It just doesn't provide value for money, in my opinion. As for the food, it's not "authentic" Greek or anything but more of a fusion if you like Greek and Mediterranean stuff. I think if you want a salad for lunch, this place might accomodate well. The food was fresh, and fairly tasty, but I was surprised that the pocket sandwiches came out cold, not hot. My husband was disappointed that his "beef and lamb" gyro pocket was just beef and not warm. The spanakopita called "Spinach Pie" was more of a roll vs. flaky phyllo layers. Just not what we're used to... we love Greek Cafe in Cool Springs, and I think Taziki's is better than this Kalamatas location too. The folks working there were very kind, and I even saw one treat a toddler guest to a free cookie, which was heartwarming. Just wasn't enough to make up for the rest. Really very underwhelmed, and we won't be coming back because there are better alternatives in both taste and price.

I really enjoyed the Gyro salad. The only complaint would be that for the price of the food i would have liked to have full service. You have to get your own ice water and refills etc. If it were for take out I would have been highly pleased.

I love giving five star reviews on YELP, so it pains me to share my low opinion of Kalamata's in Brentwood. At one point I think the original restaurant of this chain might have been good, but our experience today had essentially no redeeming elements. The restaurant offers only counter service and our wait to order lunch was long, despite only a few customers ahead of us in line. The menu is fairly standard, felafel, hummus, gyros, fatoush. As a prelude to the meal I was irked, as I often am in Nashville, that the credit card receipt not only had a spot for a tip but multiple choice boxes specifying tip starting at 15 percent and going up from there. Hey counter-service restuarants, charge more for the food, if you need to to pay employees a decent wage, but don't shame customers into tipping for no service. Our food came out very slowly. Drinks were self serve and they were out of ice. The sandwiches and hummus took fifteen minutes, and after another fifteen minutes, we asked about the whereabouts of our gyro plates and were told that they had forgotten. The food, when it did come, was uninspiring at best. Felafels were below average, as was the gyro meat. Additionally, the gyro plate came only with sauce, meat and a few pita wedges, no onion, parsley, tomato, lettuce. Pitas were neither fresh or warmed up in the oven. Our search for a good mediterranean place in south Nashville/Brentwood continues.

Kalamatas is almost on a weekly rotation for me. The BBQ Beef Brisket is amazing - I crave it just thinking about it. The sauce they use is amazing. The gyro pockets are really great, and the spinach pie appetizers are also really awesome. If you're looking for authentically delicious Mediterranean food, Kalamata's is the place to be!

While I am on Yelp reviewing another restaurant, I thought I would write a review for this place. I dined here a few weeks ago with a friend. The interior is quaint. There was live music that night. Food is ordered at the counter. The friendly kitchen staff brings food to your table. This place allows BYOB. There is a liquor store in the strip mall. The beef tenderloin was very good. The salad is fresh. I love the classic gyro so I decided to order the gyro pocket. The gyro from this place is not the classic meat cut from the vertical broiler rack. It is factory pre-sliced meat. The staff then cut it into thin slice for the pocket. I have never like this style of gyro. The rating is for the gyro. Otherwise, everything else on the menu seem to be good. I would come back again to try other dishes.

I came here while on a whirlwind tour of Nashville with my boyfriend. This place is adorable. The ambience is very bright and the food is really fresh and incredibly affordable. It's kind of annoying that you have to order at the counter and all that, but it's totally worth it. I had the mediterrean-style tuna wrap, which was SUPER vinegar-ish, but really pretty great. It had tuna, olive oil, some sort of vinegar, capers, and lots of lemon juice. Really nice. The Kebabs looked great, but I didn't order that, so I can't really say anything more about that. There was a delightful jazz trio playing by the front window, which was so lovely. I want a jazz trio to follow me wherever I go! Great place for groups, especially if you have vegetarian friends. I'd definitely go back!

Really liked the food. We had the med platter, salmon and the chicken skewers....everything was great! Will def be back often. They don't have alcohol but you can go across the parking lot and grab some for a $5 corkage fee.
(4)Mark B.
Great food! Let me clarify that this is a Mediterranean restaurant, not a Greek restaurant. Great falafel. Awesome salmon florentine and chicken pita! Beef bbq is good too!
(5)Rahel K.
Once upon a time there was a girl in a snow storm. She was cold and she was hungry. She saw so many lights but one light stood out....Kalamatas. She walked in the door and was instantly greeted by the wonderful staff. The store was filled with happy and warm people. It was nice enough to be a bistro but casual enough to be fast food. She ordered the mediterranean salad with grilled vegetables and a garlic knot at the counter. She sat gleefully by the window while the friendly staff came by to bring her the tasteful meal and dropped by often to check on her. And she lived happily ever after.
(4)Daniel B.
-Very good Greek at a reasonable price -dessert selection is small but good...best baklava I've ever had -order at the counter and fill your own drinks -very relaxed atmosphere
(4)Brian B.
Mr. Will pays close attention to marinating the chicken and making the presentations of all the dishes tasteful to the eyes. The food ordering counter is full of fresh, clean and healthy items for the chef to assemble into your menu selection. The memory capability of this gentlemen is amazing and when matched with his ability to quickly prepare the meals for delivery he's an asset to this restaurants teamwork. The live music is enjoyable and sets this restaurants atmosphere among the top choices in the area. The music heard on the nights when there is no live music is relaxing and enjoyable as well. The table service is attentive, polite and knowledgeable about the menu. I look forward to time well spent at Kalamata's again. Thank you Mr. Will and team.

First of all, host was great. Salad, hummus and everything else. We went to the shopping strip for another restaurant but this place looked so great, we ended up changing our plan. I think it's a family run business and they toke card of us very nicely. Desserts weren't so super but other items were great. We all enjoyed the food.
(5)Megan H.
Staff was very friendly and welcoming and the food was even better. They didn't skimp on anything and they were proud of their product. Yummo! They have me craving more. Great atmosphere too. Not too casual, not too stuffy. Perfect place for a lunch or a comfy dinner with girlfriends. You order and pay at the cashier before you sit down and I like that.
(5)Candice C.
The falafel salad was a bit underwhelming. The falafel was good but the salad lacked flavor and only had one Greek olive! The falafel sandwich was ok- it was more like a wrap. Service was fast.

I will never be coming back to this Kalamata's again. The others are great and managed well, but not this one. Compared to the other Kalamata's locations this one is the worst and it is completely because of the manager, the woman who is usually behind the counter. I noticed they had a sign for "TURKISH COFFEE", and I was very excited because I love Turkish Coffee. I've been to Turkey, and had it numerous times there and here in the states. I ordered my usual beef tenderloin entree with rice and a side of Turkish Coffee. When my plate came out I had three pieces of beef tenderloin. Yes, I paid 15 something dollars for a three pieces of meat the size of my thumb. I also noticed that I only had two squares of pita bread..where are the other two? Cutting corners (quite literally)? I didn't care, I wasn't super hungry anyways. I was just excited about my coffee. When I finished my salad and entree my coffee came out. I immediately noticed some sort of harsh alcohol smell radiating from the cup, almost like a bathroom cleaner smell. I thought that was very odd and maybe it was just someone around me. I waited 5 minutes, and the cup of coffee still had a alcohol-like bitter smell radiating from it. I took a small sip and immediately spit it back out. It was bitter. It was very obvious that whoever made the cup obviously didn't grind the coffee the correct way. If you're coffee looks like a regular cup of dark roast and tastes bitter and super acidic that's why. They essentially boiled regular coffee grinds. Turkish grind is a special kind of grind that allows the coffee to be thick (almost like an espresso), and should not be bitter at all. There should also be a layer of foam at the top of your cup if you have done it correctly. When I went to tell this to the server, I was met by the manager who said very rudely "I'm sorry but you have no idea what Turkish Coffee is." I came to give constructive criticism and was met with pure thoughtlessness. I tried explaining to her why the coffee was terrible and what can be done to improve. Again, met with stubbornness and excuses by exclaiming "This is how Arabs do it, and we will continue to do it this way. No one has complained." I felt bad for her son, Naeem, who seemed genuinely interested in how to improve making a better cup. I could careless if this business flourishes or dies, you don't treat people that way. Especially people who are trying to help you when you've clearly done a deplorable job.

We always have a good experience at Kalamata's. The folks are friendly and accommodating. The food is good but not "the best I've ever had". The prices are a little high for the portions. Overall, a good place to go for greek food.
(3)Timothy V.
The gyro was a little different. Too moist for me, but some might prefer it to the normal. The potatoes were good.
(3)E E.
I will say the food we did get was delicious, we ended up getting the gyro pocket and gyro plate. Portions were small, but price was inexpensive, so it makes sense. Service wasn't that great. A bit confusing for a first timer. There were specials available but only for people who made reservations. Yet on yelp it said they didn't take reservations. So three stars due to lack of great customer service.

I really enjoyed my first visit here. When we walked in we were promptly greeted and then told how to order. You order at the counter, walk to the dining room, get your drink and silverware and then they bring the food to you. When you are done eating you go to the register and tell them what you had. They told us that they don't use tickets and just use the honor system. I was greatly impressed that he remembered everything we ordered without writing anything down. My memory would never get that right. So, once we ordered we grabbed our drinks. They have water and tea available in the dining room. Then, we picked our table and sat down. For the food: I ordered a grilled greek chicken salad pita as well as hummus. Just an FYI the pitas don't come with a side or anything. The food came out within a reasonable amount of time. I thought the pita was excellent. I am really particular about dissecting my chicken and this chicken was perfect for me. Also, I believe there are two types of people in the world, those that like a lot of sauce or dressing and those that don't like that much. I am one that likes a lot and this pita had the perfect amount of greek dressing on it. It wasn't too much that it made my pita soggy but it was enough that the lettuce and chicken was covered nicely. I also enjoyed the hummus. I am not a hummus expert but to me it was great. Once I ate that we decided to get dessert. Once again, they use the honor system so you grab whatever dessert you want and then tell them later when you go to pay. I had my brother in law grab the pistachio baklava for me when he went to grab his pie. It was the perfect size and so good. It was slightly sticky from the honey but not too much. The pistachios were the best part of it. I think it would have been good without them but they made it that much better. They have live music on Fridays and Saturdays which is a nice touch. Once we were done eating we went to pay and mine came to less than $15. I think with everything I ordered that was a pretty good deal. I would definitely come back if I was in the area.
(4)Ali S.
I agree with other negative reviewers. My experience here has not been pleasant. Food is not good, meat portions are small for the price, and the lady who manages this place is just plain rude. But they seem to be doing well so hats off to them but I rather to go to Tazikis any day over this place.
(1)Scott T.
Friendly staff and great Greek food. I had the gyro pocket with lamb and the potatoes. Both were great (though I wish I had thought to add feta). Live music Friday and Saturday night is nice. There was a trio playing and they were great - fun to watch but not so loud you couldn't continue your conversation at your table. I'll definitely swing back through!
(4)Ginny L.
What on earth? Did everyone go to a different restaurant than me? Maybe this was an expectation fail - but the food is just horribly blah here. I got the chicken plate and I'll break it's components down for you: 1) Chicken - the only seasoned thing on the whole plate. Flavor was good but horribly overcooked and dry. 2) Rice - this is honestly the worst rice I've ever had at any greek place. It literally had no flavor. Bloated, mushy, flavorless rice - yum! 3) Hummus - tasted like Sabra. You may be into that but I think it tastes like cardboard paste. 4) Pita - sometimes I feel I'm the only person who cares about a good pita. Pitas should be warm and soft and puffy. Kalamata's serves the thin stale pita rounds you find at the grocery store - and to make it worse they serve it cold.
(1)Rachel F.
The food and service is delightful. Had the Greek salad with chicken. There was also live music- it was a Saturday night. Had a great time!
(5)Nicholas B.
Decent food but this locations cuts corners 2-3 slices/ wedges of pita bread. Why not give the customer the entire piece of pita???!!!! Portions are tiny for a total bill around $15, don't even try to ask for anything additional like a mixed salad with an entree they charge every nickel and dime! Customer service? Forget about it, the manager (women) is rude and is only interested in telling you what she thinks! Take your business anywhere else, I recommend chill spot next door!
(2)Danielle S.
Hands down best hummus and pita. I usually get the Greek sampler plate which has a little bit of everything! Definitely a great spot to go for a light lunch or dinner.
(5)Nazanin R.
Delicious home made Lebanese food! Though portions are small! Baba ghanosh is to die for kind of appetizer!
(4)Josh M.
I was in the mood for some lamb kebab. Had never tried this place but it had good enough reviews and I had heard it mentioned a few times. So I headed over to check out their offerings and was greeted with the most welcoming "Hello's" and "Welcomes" by all the staff in the front. I am assuming that this is a family that runs this place and they take joy in pleasure in sharing the food of their culture. It seemed like we were the only people that they did not know the names of as people piled in after us. This was a great start. After looking at the menu I wanted to judge them on their gyro meet, so I ordered a Lamb gyro platter. This came with meat, rice or potatoes, small salad, fresh pita(LOVE!), taziki. I also ordered a appetizer of falafel. I had failed to mention that I wanted the potatoes when ordering and upon asking they had already plated but threw in the rice as well. This food was amazing. moist meat with the flavor melding of all the spices. Rice, mmmmm. salad was fresh and crisp and the dressing was to die for. The potatoes were less than desirable. The pita, oh my. THE FALAFEL, WOW! This was clearly freshly made and you could taste all of the flavors working together. The only missing element that I would desire would have been some heat to the falafel (Though from the little I know the jalapenos in the falafel may be something of a different region?) Overall, I will be back. I want to be a regular at this joint. I want to go "Where everyone knows my name" Give these guys a chance and you wont regret it.
(4)Krissy T.
Came here when my family was visiting for graduation. The server was extremely rude and impatient. Told us they would get busy so we needed to order cause he couldn't spend all his time on us. There was one other table. Food is poor quality.
(1)Anna W.
The good stuff: we ordered stuffed grape leaves, baba ganoush, lamb kebab plate and spinach pie plate. All the food was great. Flavorful, not too big portions, and good salads with each plate. The lamb kebab was my favorite and the potatoes it came with were perfect. The food came out quickly. The unpleasant stuff: the ordering system is unclear until you're actually on the spot to order. The people taking orders are also delivering food, which can mean standing there to wait to place your order and the person on the register is twiddling his thumbs. We ordered, paid and went to find a table - there was one, with one chair, so I had to find an employee to help me find a chair. We waited around 5-6 minutes to sit down, hoping our appetizers wouldn't come out before we were seated. The atmosphere is kind of like a cafeteria - which would work for me for lunch but not a sit down dinner. 3 stars because of the overall experience, but the good was 4 stars.
(3)Karyn L.
Decided to get some Greek to go on a recent trip to Brentwood since we were staying nearby. We tried the Greek salad with grilled chicken and the chicken kabob. The good: The salad had beautiful lettuce, so props for that. The bad: I think I'm going to have to bring my own Greek dressing up from Tampa next time. Not a fan of their green-goddess style dressing. Ick. The average: The chicken on the kabob was seasoned well, but the potatoes that came with it were SO overly seasoned and salty... and the 'veggies' that came with it? Two pieces of zucchini. Kind of lame. Three stars for the freshness of the food, but this place isn't the place to go if you're in the mood for real Greek food.
(3)Robert U.
I love this place. Food seams really fresh, especially the salads. You can't fake fresh greens. The people who work there are very warm and friendly, and seem to want to be sure everything is great. If you like Greek food, this is a great place. If you don't, you should try it anyway. Great stuff.
(5)Zach G.
Overpriced Gyro's is what I call this place. It's good. Just the Price vs Tastiness factor don't really match up.
(3)Steve M.
Great place. Go there, you won't be sorry. Be sure to get the baklava. We were driving south from Michigan and stopped in after reading other positive reviews. Everything we had was good. Gyro, Falafel and Greek salad.
(4)Daniel B.
Food is good, very good. When you walk in, there is a foodbar with the menu written on plates, signs, etc. It's a neat presentation. The food bar is not a self-service bar but serves as the place where the cook (in this case, the owner) organizes your plate with salad, hummus, etc. When I have been here before (one previous visit) they take your order, you pay at the standing register, and head into the dining room. During both of my visits, I ordered from the presented menus on the plates/signs. Today, it was different. The person preparing the food, the owner , took my order and told me to take a seat. There wasn't a cashier present. I sat down and the owner brought the food to the table. However, when I wanted to pay the cashier using a coupon from Nashville City Saver. I ordered a special. A special? I ordered from what I thought was the menu board. I learned that the printed menus were by the cashier...not presented before you order. My bad. I'll be back. Next time, I'll try ordering from the printed menus...I'll go to the cashier, get a menu, get in food line, order some food, go back to cashier, pay, and then sit down in the dining room. And, if I use a coupon, I will go over the terms with the owner before placing an order. The food is very good, very good.
(4)Lyndsay K.
With every bite I took I tried to find the redeeming qualities of this food and I'm sorry to say they just weren't there. I agree with those who said the service isn't all that friendly (not rude, but I surely didn't feel welcome) and if you've never been there before or didn't read the yelp reviews first you probably wouldn't know how it works once inside. Odd, but if the food were amazing these details would be forgotten by me. Sadly it wasn't. What was good: the lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers were very fresh and good quality. They didn't cut corners here, which was a huge plus. The option of whole wheat pita - I always order wheat anything when available, but this was my first time having wheat pita in a restaurant. What wasn't good: the food totally lacked anything resembling flavor; that green dressing for the salad - horrible; the hummus tasted like it was just puréed garbanzos with absolutely nothing else added to flavor it; gyro meat was the pre-packaged kind (only positive about this was that it wasn't greasy at all) that - you guessed it - lacked flavor; tabbouleh was missing something, had way too much lemon and just didn't taste right; pita was cold. Also, the menu prices in the store varied some from the menus in the restaurant. Nothing ridiculous, just off and should be updated. Obviously this just wasn't a win for me.
(2)Russ H.
I wanted to update my review since I've been back several more times. If you have an opportunity to visit this place, be SURE to order the Persian Lamb Kebobs, the spices are a secret but I'm here to tell you, it is one of the best things I've ever eaten. Served over a bed of rice with fresh pita and their incredibly awesome Greek salad, and grilled veggies it's just "Wow!" Be adventurous, try this place, you'll love it!
(4)Suz E.
This is seriously the worst Mediterranean food I've ever had. I got the sampler and the only thing edible on the plate was the salad. The humus had no flavor, the pita was charred and tasted like a brick of charcoal. The stuffed grape leaves tasted like mud, and the tabouleh was nothing but leaves, I did not see a single grain. The baklava was stale and dry. The whole meal was very disappointing.
(1)Krystal E.
Exceptionally fresh food!
(5)Adrianne S.
Food is good but watch your bill. They don't write what you order, cashier just enters what they think you had. The set up is a bit confusing - you order at counter, then find a seat, I think you get your own drink but not 100% on that because it seemed to vary from table to table, waiter brings food, then you pay at another counter when done.
(3)Mike H.
I'm a huge fan of Middle Eastern cuisine, and these Lebanese folks serve it up as well as anybody around. Food is always of high quality and they are eager to please. Their kafta is as good as any I've had, and the sides are great, too. Subtract a little for the un-freshness of the pita on a couple of visits, but that's the limitation of a small place like this that probably doesn't bake their own. The price can get a little steep for a deli-style eatery, too. Hey, that's OK with me as along as I'm getting good food in return.
(4)Lisa B.
I was a little confused after my first experience here. I'll admit that the food was pretty good, but the experience itself was less than stellar and left me wondering how this place makes any money. I'd give them 3 stars on food alone, but 2 on service/experience, so consider this a 2.5. The restaurant layout is a little weird... you order pretty much at a kitchen counter, which is not clearly marked as the ordering point. The woman who took our order did so as she was making a salad, barely looking at us. She wasn't rude by any means, but not the most friendly. Our order wasn't written down, no total price given or anything, so we assumed we had to go over to the little register stand to pay (also not clearly marked). As we lined up to pay the woman yelled over that we don't have to pay right now, we can do it on our way out, just as long as they get paid before we leave they don't care. ummm..... ok... So we sit down, wondering how we'll get our food since they didn't ask for a name and we weren't given a number or any kind of receipt of what we ordered. A few minutes later we get our falafel appetizer and the salads that apparently came with our gyro plates, delivered by the same woman who took our order. About 35-40 minutes later we still have no gyros, so we go check it out and are told they are "waiting on another batch," which coincidentally comes right out 1 minute after we ask! So basically it's pretty obvious that they forgot about us. Now we have 10 minutes to scarf it down and pay before having to get back to work. Awesome. Payment is all honor system, I guess, since the cashier has no way of knowing what we ordered/have already eaten. I wonder how many people leave without paying or only pay for part of their meal, especially during the lunch rush. Seems very unorganized and inefficient. Ok, so the food: The falafel was awesome. You only get 2 of them, but it's only $2ish. The salad was meh, just your typical Greek salad. The gyro meat was cut into french fry-esque strips and served over rice. It tasted good, but I personally prefer the shaved meat like Athens has so I can eat it with the pita a little better. The pita wasn't warm, maybe that's just personal preference again, but I feel like most places serve their pita warm and also it's more delicious that way. So there. Apparently we ate lunch a table over from Darrell Waltrip. Ladies, I didn't know who he was either, but allegedly he has something to do with sports or cars or something :)

Kalamatas serves classic Mediterranean dishes which includes various kebobs, fallafels, stuffed grape leaves and much more. The menu makes it possible people to choose delicious and healthy items. The decor of the dining room was inviting simple, uncluttered and underplayed. My personal favourites were fallafels, stuffed grape leaves and a simple salad with a perfectly balanced dressing. Kebobs and gyro meat were nicely cooked. Saffron rice was warm and fresh. Baklava was buttery and sweet. Overall, I recommend this place.
(4)Aaron D.
Little known fact: You can only eat so much fried chicken and BBQ before you explode. Sometimes you want something healthy, light, fast and delicious. Kalamata's fits the bill on all counts. Chicken gyro hits the spot every time. Best restaurant in Brentwood? Yeah, I said it.
(5)Sasha T.
I used to avoid Kalamata's completely. However, I make a habit of having lunch with my mom once a week and this location is convenient when at least one of us is looking for something on the the lighter side. Service is not the friendliest, especially when you are new and trying to figure out where to order, but not super unfriendly. I can't say the same for the people that frequent here (I'm talking to you lady that hit my mom hard in the shoulder with the door while looking at the menu outside and didn't even stop to apologize), but eh, its Brentwood. The food is good. It is definitely not the best mediterranean food in town by any means, but the gyro platter and chicken kebabs are tasty enough to eat here again.
(3)Jeff M.
Interesting, cafeteria style setup with excellent Mediterranean food. Enjoyed the kabob combo with oven roasted potatoes. Great flavor. Friendly owners made it a nice experience.
(4)Duane L.
This was my second visit, so now I am accustom to the routine that others have mentioned. Both times I have ordered one of the specials of the day. This time it was salmon on top of a salad. Very nice texture and spicing. The pistachio baklava desert was excellent and the green tea was a very refreshing taste. A very low price for a salmon meal especially.
(4)Mark B.
I really enjoyed Kalamata's. It's a mixed review, but I can't give it only three stars. The Good: Very laid back for being in Brentwood. The workers were friendly since it was apparent we'd not been there before. I liked the casual, "Just be sure to pay us before you leave." My daughter's cheese pie was amazing. The portions are large. The salad was excellent. The tzatziki that came with my wife's lamb kabobs. The red potatoes she got. Did I mention my daughter's amazing cheese pie off the kid's menu. The OK, because there wasn't really anything bad: My gyro entree, I was kinda expecting a pocket sandwich with the rice on the side. Instead I got rice with thin strips of meat and my pita was chopped into quadrants and toasted. It was ok, but that's all there was. The meat, while excellent at first, got old. My wife loved her lamb kabob, but I found it dry. Total was around $30 before tip. I recommend, but it's not for everyone. I won't go out of my way to go there. Maybe if I just order a salad and the cheese pie kid's meal.

I love BOTH of the Kalamata's restaurants. There is one in Green Hills on Hillsboro Pike, and one closer to where I work in Brentwood on Franklin Road. This review is for the Franklin Road location. It's in a strip mall (kind of) with a bunch of other restaurants: Chill Spot, Subway, Brick's, Five Guys, Peter's Sushi, etc. The staff is friendly, and the food is always fresh! My favorites are the salads (the dressing is YUMMY), and the Chicken Gyro Pocket. My husband almost always gets the special of the day, and he loves it. His favorite lately has been the Salmon Florentine served over a great greek salad. I love tea (and I just stopped drinking soda), so I splash a little sweet green tea at the bottom, and then fill the rest with their unsweet. It's refreshing and delicious. Also, before you leave, grab a baklava. You're welcome. :) If you go during the work week at lunch, it's pretty crowded, but they turn tables very quickly.

Very good and unique food and nice atmosphere for a date night or a night out with friends.

i love this place! The food is wonderful and fresh. They have great specials that I love to get when I visit. I am a vegetarian, but I still eat fish, and this restaurant is perfect for my diet. It has great prices, and I go here for lunch frequently. They have such a great variety of items and the baked goods are scrumptous. A word of advice though.. They prefer when you approach the counter to know what you want. So, if you don't know, take a menu and step back until you are ready.

I love this place! Thanks for your recent deal with Sharing Spree Nashville we were able to enjoy a healthy meal, save money and help a local charity. We had a great experience and brought a bottle of wine for a small cork fee. There was a jazz musician playing some wonderful music while we ate! Perfect Date night! Thanks for offering such a wonderful deal with Sharing Spree! We will be back!

Not incredibly thrilled by the food from here. I ordered take out and service was incredibly fast and the staff was super nice. I ordered a gyro, spinach pie and hummus. Hummus had a strong white wine flavor. The gyro did not seem fresh at all. The spinach pie was very tasty.

My husband and I got gyro sandwichs which were in pockets rather than wraps which is ok I guess. My husbands was served in a stale pocket that fell apart after a couple bites. He ended up having to eat it with a fork and spoon from the plate which was frustrating since he wanted a gyro 'sandwich' not a gyro 'plate'. Nonetheless it was cheap enough and the taste was ok, not great just ok. Upon leaving we noticed they were filling the dessert cooler with Tiramisu, my all time favorite dessert so I picked up 2 of them to take home. That was pretty decent. I doubt we will go back. We are new to the Nashville area so we will keep looking for places that will be our 'usual' spots.

Awesome place to eat. Highly recommended and especially try the special of the day. They are unique and different. The last time we went they served Smoky Asparagus Soup as their soup of the day. WOW. Great service, friendly people and one of our favorite places to eat in Williamson County.

stopped by on a Saturday afternoon for a quick lunch. Nice interior in a new space -- counter service, so you are in & out in a flash. I was planning on take-out, but it was ready so quick I sat down to eat. Tried the Mediterranean sampler - a garden salad, hummus, tabbouleh, dolmas and a pita. Offered wheat or white pita as a choice. Came with a side of tzatziki and dressing. Salad was so vividly green -- nice change from the iceberg lettuce you find all around town (including greek restaurants). Very simple, very nice. Enjoyed the dressing very much. Hummus was good, very plain, I enjoy more seasoning & flavor but it was a good texture. Dolmas were good -- grape leaves are not really my favorite, but these were good. Tabbouleh was very good -- not sopping wet, but moist and flavorful. Still not the best I've had around town (still addicted to the tabbouleh at Kebab Gyros in Donelson) but very good. I was impressed with the cleanliness, efficiency and good pricing. I will be back when in Brentwood and will try other items on the menu...

The chicken gyro tasted awful and when I approached the owner she denied that it tasted bad and became very offended and then thew 6 dollars on the table which I did not accept. Needless to say I will not be going back.

read the reviews and decided to give it a try. should have thought harder. portion size was small for the price, dining room was quite cold, most people kept their winter coats on, and when we asked to change the roll for a pita, the server picked up the roll off the plate (with her bare hands) and returned it to be served to someone else. pretty sure this is a health code violation. left hungry and disappointed. also want to mention that it looks like they stopped decorating to open the place as a lot of the wood is raw and undone.

Favorite Greek in Nashville!!! Thanks to Sharing Spree for the great deal!

The food is fine, with a Lebanese slant perhaps. The pita is a little flavorless and lacks the toasty exterior of the superior pita at Mediterranean Cuisine (Maryland Farms), which remains my favorite choice. I was turned off by the paper and plastic set up. I guess they are going for a cafeteria style approach, since it seems that you get your food served from a quick service counter. Yet the interior is attempting warmth and hominess, so it is an unusual combination. It would be greatly improved by switching to glass and plastic or chinaware, and perhaps dropping the price a half a notch.

Best Brentwood gyros and falafel is here at Kalamata's. Affordable and casual, it is a new Greek mediterranean cafeteria style restaurant. Popular and may be busy particularly at lunchtime, so plan accordingly. It's locally owned by restauranteur Mehar Fawaz, who also designed the menu selections. You can't go wrong with the salads here, especially the Salad Sampler. Try the spinach pie over rice, with fattash.

Very friendly staff and good food... The falafel was good.. their hummus was tasty... Soups were filling and the best thing is their date cookies.. I love dates and this cookie hit the spot for my sweet craving.. staff was very friendly and let us take our time to order and then were not impatient when we were sitting there till their close time.. I would go back again if I was in this area..

Great food at a great price. Everyone I was with loved every item we ordered. The undisputed fave was the house salad with the incredible house dressing.

Passing through thought I'd stop for lunch. Note to self: great idea will stop again when up this way. Typical Greek decor. When you enter order food, pay, sit at table(they change out paper top after each customer) they will bring food to your table. Not only food great prices are good to. Don't just take my word for it, do yourself a favor and check this place out.

One of my favorite places to eat in Brentwood. I almost always get the chicken gyro, sandwich or plate...her greek salad dressing is to die for. Anytime we get a day off, my 3 year old and I make sure we get lunch at Kalamata's. Usually Sunday is the only day we get and luckily they're open for lunch now on Sundays.

A group of us went on a Saturday night and I was afraid we were going to have to wait. Fortunately for us, we got right in. As soon as we walked in, we had no clue how this place worked. Luckily, they were so friendly and told us how to order there. So for those of you that don't know, here's how: You can sit down with a menu to decide what you are getting, then get back up and order at the counter, then walk around to the sitting area and grab whatever drink you want, they will bring you your food then you go back up to pay. If you want dessert, you just tell them when you are checking out, since it is sitting out where you can just grab it. Now on to the food, it was really good! We got hummus, which was excellent, chicken salad wrap, which was really good, although it could have used a little bit more seasoning or sauce or something. We also got the gluten free chocolate dessert, it was the best part of my meal, really, really, really good! My sister got the pistachio baklava and it was also really good!! Overall, it was an affordable meal in a friendly atmosphere. Also, there was live music. It was a good volume and really appropriate for the restaurant!

Went in for a quick dinner before a movie. My girlfriend got the Greek salad with chicken and i had the traditional gyro. The chicken was did not have any flavor at all. It was ok but really bland. The gyro was also lacking in flavor and kind of had a mushy feel. Probably not going to be back.
