The BEST BBQ sauce in the WORLD!!!! I visited Richards BBQ 5 years ago on vacation and never forgot how excellent the food was. I live in California and I have NEVER had such tasty BBQ sauce/food like Richard's. The BEST BBQ in the whole wide world. I can't afford to travel to Boliver every year but a taste of the sauce can make me real happy and curb my cravings for the best BBQ in the world!! I need some more BBQ sauce!!!! Your friend forever Connie V.

This place was excellent all around. From the moment you walk in you immediately feel like part of the neighborhood. We went around 5pm and the little "shack" was filled with people coming and going picking up and placing orders. The staff are extremely hard working and seem to have the hang of dealing with the busy crowd down to a tee. We were graciously greeted and when we explained we were not from town the staff were very helpful in explaining the menu. The food was out of this world. We ordered the BBQ chicken, beans, potato salad, and slaw. We weren't keen on the slaw, which I believe was due to it being different than we are used to up north but everything else was amazing. The BBQ was unique and highly flavorful, the chicken was cooked perfectly, the beans were awesome, and we loved the southern style potato salad. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for good food and a real southern feel. This meal was one we will not soon be forgetting.

I am giving 4 stars based only on the food. It is good. The help is terrible. Can't take orders right, and expect to wait. I have to say, riding through Bolivar on the Harley and looking for something different, Richard's delivers. It is a shack - literally. Outdoor picnic table seating - but again - the food - open pit slow roasted - fantastic. Go for the food - tolerate the rest. You'll be happy.

I was traveling through Bolivar on business and didn't want fast food do I opened yelp and saw the reviews for this place. Compared to the other offerings in the town, thus is good food. Unfortunately the barbeque was average at best. Not very flavorful and the sauce was too sweet. I probably won't return.

Awesome place! Pork sandwich was perfect and bologna sandwich was a true treat just can't find that at most places.

I was handed the lunch menu and asked: 'Have you ever had Tennessee BBQ?' Is this a joke? You mean not all BBQ is like it is in Texas? What is wrong here? How could Tennessee BBQ be any different than good ol' Texas BBQ? It is in the sauce, for sure. I love my TX sauce - thick and creamy with a little kick. The sauce at Richard's is completely different - I believe it is vinegar-based with some seasoning and spice mixed in. I could have easily mistaken this sauce for balsamic vinaigrette just by the way it appeared. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the taste. I ordered the chicken plate with a side of beans and potato salad. The chicken was a generous portion of a breast and leg, which I could not finish no matter how hard I tried...I couldn't face the chance of being in a massive food coma for the rest of the day. I dipped my chicken in the "BBQ" sauce and it tasted quite strong, but lovely. Oh, and props to the potato salad. This is the first potato salad I have tasted outside of Texas that remotely tastes like my mom's recipe. Needless to say, I demolished it. The beans were quite tasty as well and I ate almost all of them. I cannot really comment on any of their other food, since my lunch buddies all got the same platter. I guess I made a good choice when it came to the chicken? My body will probably thank me later.
