After our tour at the Jack Daniels distillery, we had dinner at Bell Buckle Cafe. This place is a home style country cooking cafe with a small store & has live bands. Population of this tiny town is a little over 500. You get your neighborhood friendly, home style cooking coming here. I ordered the pot roast with mashed potatoes. The portions are good. My friend let me try his smoked pork chops. It was really good! Our waitress was a college girl and was so friendly. She was talking to us for a bit & did a magic trick on us. Very nice! They sell tees that reads " Where the heck is Bell Buckle?" I couldn't pass that up so I bought one for myself since I'm such tourist a may not be here again. This place can get crowded where you have to wait a bit but so worth it!

Every time I'm near Bell Buckle, this is where I eat! Have not had 1 thing bad yet! Great country ambiance in an adorable antique town! A must go for anyone in the area. Unless you hate good quality food and friendly service

This is just the type of restaurant I love. The cute little down-home-country-cookin' restaurant in a tiny town that may or may not even be on the map. This was almost it. The place is cute. Bell Buckle is tiny. Is it even incorporated? I don't even know. Our server was as sweet as she could be. Aside from the dessert I totally shouldn't have eaten, however, I was not feeling the food. Nothing tasted bad, nor was anything over- or undercooked. I just wasn't feeling it. Nothing was spectacular about it. We started out with fried biscuits (which, again, I totally shouldn't have had) because I have an ongoing love affair with biscuits and I thought that this was the perfect way to take it to the next level. They are basically the 'Chinese donuts' that you can find on all of the Chinese buffets across America. I despise donuts or anything that tastes like them. I had meatloaf with mac and cheese, fried okra, and tomato-cucumber salad (even more things I shouldn't have eaten), and everything was just ok. I was expecting something else from the tomato-cucumber salad. It had this weird brown sauce (dressing?) on it. My mom and my husband loved it, though, so maybe it's just me. It is still worth checking this place out. Don't let the line to get in scare you. We waited five minutes, tops, and we were there with the after-church crowd.

This weekend I had my first visit to the Bell Buckle Cafe that was not during the annual RC Cola Moon Pie Festival (if you don't know what that is, go next year. 3rd Saturday every June). On moon pie weekend, expect a long wait and a more limited menu I think. This time we walked right in and the place was relatively full, but not too busy. Wear stretchy pants. Parking is free and is available either right in front or across the street. We had a debate on whether you are allowed to park on the quilt pattern painted in the middle of the lot, and it turns out that yes, you can park on the quilt. You'll understand what that means when you get there. This time I had the chicken pot pie, which comes with 3 (yes, THREE) sides and is topped with a cornbread pancake. My total was around $12, including a built in tip (not sure if that's because there were 5 of us or....? oh well.). Not bad for that much food, and probably one of the most expensive things on the menu. The table also ordered the fried biscuits, which are basically donuts. Yum. Nothing is mind blowing, but it's perfect when you're in the mood for some good traditional comfort food. The service was excellent, and has been each time I've been there. They don't serve any alcohol, but our waitress encouraged us to open the beer we had in a cooler bag that we were planning to bring to our next activity. Not sure how standard that is - she may have just been indulging us since we were there with a bachelorette - so don't quote me if you they don't let you BYOB next time. They also didn't mind us bringing in our own dessert for the occasion. The front room where you wait to be seated is also where you pay, so that gets a little crowded and confusing when you're trying to figure out who's in line for what. The bathroom is a one-seater, so there's often a line for that, too. Those are pretty much the only negatives. I realize how classy this review makes me sound, but don't judge until you've been. Just trust me.

Noel, Tony and I was driving around on the backroads when we happened upon this quaint little town. We noticed a lot of motorcycles and people moving around. The town was so nice, quaint and colorful...it led us to immediately want to pull over and check it out. We parked across the street (free parking) and we walked over to the lovely little town front. The stores have all been turned into antique shops and one cafe in the midst..We were hungry and went inside. There was a waiting list we had to put our party on and wait. We waited 40 minutes...40!!!! The waitress was so nice. Once we were finally seated, the waitress was very nice. I ordered the open faced Roast Beef, with three sides of Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Green Beans and Carrot Souffle with dinner roll and butter and sweet iced tea. Tony ordered the same Opened Face Roast Beef sandwich with Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Macaroni n' Cheese and White Beans with Ham, Dinner Roll with Butter and Sweet Iced Tea and Noel went with the Country Fried Steak with Gravy, Dinner Roll and Butter, Macaroni n' Cheese, French Fries and Fresh Fruit with Sweet Iced Tea. Tony went with Pecan Pie and Noel with Fudge Pie to go...Desserts had to be taken home..I opted for NO DESSERT...don't need those extra calories... The service was relatively fast, which was surprising since it was so full. The waitress was really sweet and attentive she was constantly there checking on us. The ticket with taxes and tip was $56....$49.58 before tip...Not bad for some home cooking but when I went to Kroger's later and bought a weeks worth of groceries for $48 ...it put a perspective on it that makes you REALLY THINK !!!! But the food was good. If in the area, I recommend you stopping and eating even if just a Moonpie and RC!!!!

Good. Southern. Eats. Every time we decide to take a trip out to the country to eat at Bell Buckle Cafe and explore their small downtown and antique shops, etc., I must admit: I get a little excited. (I know, getting old...) BBC's food is excellent, and while their shop is small, and occasionally it might take a while to get you in and seated, once you're in there, you feel warm and comfortable, and ready to eat! There's a little area in the back where small bands or musicians can play a little while you eat, and this of course makes the experience while eating all the better. Highly recommend!

One of my favorite places to go in all of the Nashville area.... Being from East Tennessee, and being a chef, I'm hard to please when it comes to my country cookin', but I gotta say, this makes me think of being at my Mammy's for supper! Keep in mind that this country food. Beans, bisects, gravy, and greens. Don't eat here if you don't like butter or fried food. Can't wait to eat here again soon!

Just what you would expect from a small hole in the wall restaurant. The staff was very friendly and our waitress was great. Our food arrived in a timely manner and everything was delicious and the portions were large. I left full and the prices were not bad at all. I recommend the bbq platter.

You guys. This place is so good! Okay, I may be biased since I have used to live in Bell Buckle and ate here all the time. But really that makes it even better because I still want to eat at this place any time i'm in the area. They have delicious chicken strips, pulled chicken, and grilled chicken breast. The smothered chops are sinfully delicious! Burgers are the bomb as well. Not to mention the veggies! If they have fried corn, get it. Just do yourself a favor. Also, their ranch and honey mustard is made there every morning and is utterly delectable! If you are in the area you have to stop here! And lemonade! Get the lemonade.

If you have a hankering for good ole Southern food, the Bell Buckle Café is a great place to go. It has the requisite 1 meat and 3 side plates and other offerings. We went here to have lunch for brunch on Sunday. Be sure to get here before noon because any time after that, they get really packed! It is such a quaint place to eat. Ambiance is awesome. We had our lunch in no time at all and it was all good. They have amazing desserts also. Just remember to come here before the lunch rush comes. Also, after eating, you can go to the various stores in the square. It brings back nostalgia.

Good southern food, friendly wait staff. Drove over from the Shelbyville airport, about a 10 minute commute. Several people mentioned the live Bluegrass on Saturdays. I will definitely swing through again the next time I'm in the area.

argh, i hate to do this, give it a two star rating, but, my experience was just, eh. i had the bbq pork with mac n cheese, okra, and fries. the serving size of bbq pork was teeny. tiny. teeny tiny. most places give more bbq then that on their kids menu. this made me sad, because it was actually pretty good. the okra was good. but there was inconsistency in mine and my husbands. maybe they were different batches, cooked longer, etc? but his was better. :( the mac n cheese was lukewarm. maybe they spooned it out first and then had to wait while the rest was prepared? i don't know, but it was really on the cool side, not even lukewarm, but more tepid, cool... :( the fries were okay, but i was so sad about my baby-size portion of pork, the cold mac n cheese and my husband's superior okra, that i was too forlorn to even think about the fries. i'm sad. i had vision of grandeur regarding this place, and i was just let down. i walked away like i had just found out the truth about santa. :(

We dine at this restaurant approximately half a dozen times a year, and have been since 2002. We have never had a problem, and I'll be the first to admit, for me that is saying a lot. Everything has always been just right. Nice portions, service is always attentive, and the food is reasonably priced. I particularly like the grilled smoked pork chop and the pulled pork. The sides are excellent; some of my favorites are the fried corn, green beans, and creamy coleslaw. Their broccoli salad is also an excellent side, although yesterday it was not on the menu. The dinner salad is simple, yet delicious with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and what tastes like homemade salad dressings. Their cobbler's are outstanding! My only complaint... I just wish they were closer to Nashville!

The downtown area is cute and reminds you of Mayberry. The place was packed, looks like it stays that way on weekends. Everyone like what they ordered, server was great, food came quickly, refills timely. It was def worth the ride!

This place was so yummy I had to take my husband back the next day! The strawberry salad is epic! Very fresh with a home made poppy seed dressing. The home made potato salad was better than my mothers. The chicken pot pie was flaky and the perfect size. Our party shared desserts both days. The grits pie topped with fresh strawberries and cream was not at all what I expected. It was warm with a delightfully crunchy texture. The oatmeal caramel pie had both my husband and I exclaiming in unison "oh my gosh" . The service was friendly and quick. My only complaint was that they would not give me the recipie for the dessert :).

If you're standing there and wondering if it's open, it is. Don't let the steps up to what looks like a replica of old-timey doors put you off, they're old timey doors, they open and are functional. The food that I've had, it's ok. For vegetarians they have the veggie plate, which is 4 of whatever sides you want. Their fried veggies, let's not call them vegetarian though, there's definitely a meaty taste. The service has been great every time I've been. I don't think I'd change anything about it except to expand the main queuing area a bit and perhaps put up a sign telling you to not come in if there's someone sitting outside taking names (it means it's going to be jammed) Even during the Moon Pie festival the wait was pretty reasonable, the food got to us pretty quickly. It does its job well, and if you're looking for a restaurant in Bell Buckle, I think that may be your option. The only other place for food in that area is the coffee shop on the corner as far as I know. It's a page out of early 1980's dining in a 1940's strip mall.

I had the chicken pot pie. It is a puff pastry with the filling in between two layers. If was wonderful, as was the macaroni and cheese. I also had peach cobbler - excellent. The service is fast and attentive.

Great place for the best of country comfort food in a restaurant! I am still having trouble trying to order something other than the smoked chops, they are that good. Last night, I tried the smothered chops because they are not a regular menu item and a friend recommended them. They were great! Extremely tender, good sized chops with a savory gravy with mushroom pieces in it. As great as they were, I am going back to my smoked chops next time. The sides are good-sized portions and you get three sides with a dinner. This is enough for a normal person to wind up too full to have dessert. However, try to save room because the desserts are also good! I got the new potatoes, cuke and toms salad, and fried corn for sides. Ate everything and didn't have room for dessert. There was live music with Emilee and Big Mike and I believe they perform once a month. The restaurant is in little Bell Buckle and there are antique shops and an ice cream store at the location. Recommend getting there early on Friday or Saturday nights or be prepared to wait a little bit for seats.

What do you do when you find yourself in the middle of TN country with a hungry infant? You search Yelp for a place to stop! We were in a big group so I got to taste a few different orders. (after taking care of the infant) It was like sitting at the buffet table! First and foremost I thoroughly enjoyed the chocolate zuchinni cake. I also enjoyed the red beans & rice, tilapia, pulled pork, bisquits w/apple butter, cheese sticks, it was all delicious!

One bite of the smothered pork chops and I thought I had died and gone to Southern food heaven. Oh my goodness, their food is good. Fried corn and turnip greens were perfection, and the macaroni and cheese was creamy and delicious. I loved my squash casserole, and I can be darn picky about squash casserole. My only complaints were that the fries were frozen (who orders fries here? My husband!) and I suspect the chicken fried steak was, too, although the gravy was homemade and delicious and the steak was tasty. We had cobbler (blackberry for me, apple for him) for dessert and it was as good as any my mom ever made--flaky, and with lots and lots of fruit. Can't wait to go back.

Bell Buckle is just a lovely town... And this restaurant fits the town perfectly. The first time we visited Bell Buckle we stopped into the cafe and were very impressed. The cafe' is situated in the main 150+ year old building that holds all of the shops and stores in Bell Buckle. The cafe' is absolutely charming both inside and out. No frills here, just pure 100% Southern hospitality and country charm. The servers here are very friendly, and the food is great! If I could recommend the pulled pork--It is some of the best I have ever had! The town of Bell Buckle is definitely worth a trip of it's own! And don't even think about leaving until you have tried this little TN gem, the Bell Buckle, cafe!

Comfortable down home southern cookin'. Very unpretentious, but tasty. Ample portions, good varietal selection. We had the pulled pork and the smothered pork chop, and both were very well done along with the sides (recommend the fried okra...) and overall seemed to be the authentic down-home deal. Not pricey at all, very nice wait staff, and good service. And their oatmeal cake with caramel sauce (don't forget to add the ice cream too....) dessert is really to die for. Ample parking close by. About the only thing that I'd add, and only because it's an election year, is that If I had stood up during lunch and yelled out, "Hey!, I'm voting for Obama, anybody else??...", I really don't think it would have "gone over that well", with the clientelle that was present, but I guess that's because we were a bunch of tourists from "Californy", adn we probably aren't the usual folks coming in for lunch.... So, recommended, if you make the trip there, but it is surely out of the way, because the town of Bell Buckle, really isn't on the way to anywhere.....

Awesome place to go. Country food with live music. The great part is the music is acoustic. We set right in front of the band and could talk just fine. If you want to get out of town for something a little different, I highly recommend this town and restaurant.

I happened to pass by this tiny restaurant on my way to Jack Daniel's Distillery. Yes I was lost, and thought I would come back here to eat dinner. On my way back from the distillery, I took a detour to stop by this country cafe for a quick dinner. It was almost 5pm on Sunday. I walked in, there were a few people chatting awaiting their food. I was sat in the corner, and my waitress, Megan came to take my order. I had no idea what I wanted, so I ordered BBQ pork sandwich with fries. Order came out quick, and pork was absolutely succulent. It was delicious, and fries were hot and crispy. And total was $6.12 without the tip. It was a lot better than fastfood that I would've paid the same amount for. I was glad that I took a detour and stopped for a quick bite.

Having eaten here many times now I thought I'd finally write a review...the service is good. Although it can get really busy and crowded here at dinner time they still do a good job of getting your order and keeping your glass full. The food has always been good and I have tried everything from a daily special to the standard items on the menu. The meatloaf plate with veggies has been my favorite! The catfish and bbq plate has been great too. Won't say the speed of the food getting to you is fast when it is crowded but all things considered it isn't slow either. Besides there is often live music to listen too so what's the rush? Only thing I can caution a visitor about is to make a reservation or there might be a wait on a Friday or Saturday night as this place is usually hopp'in! If you are in the area and want some good food and down home service I highly recommend!

Tonight was about the third time that I have been to the Bell Buckle Cafe, and I have always had a great meal. There was quite a crowd there tonight, but we were seated quickly. There was some great bluegrass music being played tonight, This time I had the fried tilapia with white beans, turnip greens, and cucumber/tomato salad. It was all delicious! The iced tea was also very good. Our waitress could have been a bit more attentive, but the service was nice. Overall, another great experience at the BBC. If you are in the area, give it a try (and pick up some Moon Pies on the way out).

This is one of my favorite places to eat. I grew up in Bell Buckle...my grandparents lived there and it was one of my favorite places to visit. If you love country cooking, you will feel right at home here. I nearly always get the smoked pork chop with fried okra, fried potatoes, and white beans...real stick-to-your ribs comfort food. The service is laid back and friendly but efficient. The atmosphere is very comfortable, although it's generally busy and there's a fair amount of traffic. The pricing is very reasonable for what you get...my pork chop plate is around nine dollars and worth every bite. Do save some room for their oatmeal cake! :)

I love the bellbuckel, great service, prompt and friendly. Veggie plate for $7.95 - delicious, their red new potatoes buttery and soft. Red beans and rice, cucumbers and corn mush, all a tasty little snack and enough to split between two. Charming little cafe if you are on a back roads trip. Edible items for sale and T -shirts in the small shop.

Heavens, I thought I'd be the first person to review Bell Buckle Cafe, apparently not. :) We stopped here after an afternoon of antiquing. Hubby and I only had one thing in mind: cheeseburgers. THIS IS THE PLACE TO PICK!!!!!! WOW! Exceptional food and experience! What a step back in time. The country drive was near perfect. Enjoy the grazing cows, gorgeous green foothills, and imagineable dream country homesites with shady old trees spaced apart just so! You can just "feel it" as you walk through the old wooden door entrance. When you walk in you will see items for sale such as local honey, t-shirts, and other sundries. While I waited for my food I listened to bluegrassy music while gazing out the windows adorned with red country curtains. I could see an enormous weeping willow tree dancing slowly in the wind. I enjoyed the chicken salad sandwich on a croissant, perfectly seasoned and salted fried potatoes, fresh country sliced tomatoes, and turnip greens served with the option of green pepper hot sauce. Each item was better than you could imagine. The homeade chocolate cobbler was thick, rich, and swimming around a large dollop of vanilla bean ice cream. All I can say is if you haven't been, it is a MUST!

argh, i hate to do this, give it a two star rating, but, my experience was just, eh. i had the bbq pork with mac n cheese, okra, and fries. the serving size of bbq pork was teeny. tiny. teeny tiny. most places give more bbq then that on their kids menu. this made me sad, because it was actually pretty good. the okra was good. but there was inconsistency in mine and my husbands. maybe they were different batches, cooked longer, etc? but his was better. :(

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.
