We've been here twice in one week. I was really pleasantly surprised. The food was really good. My parents hadn't been so we ordered a lot of different stuff and did family style. Basil Fried Rice Beef, Pad Thai Gai (Chicken), Tom Ka Gai soup, Massamon Curry Gai, and some other things, then went back and did the lunch special. The food was really good, and fresh. I've been to Thai all over and mainly in Seattle and it was really really good. We'll be back for sure next chance we get. The staff is really friendly too and helpful. Hope this helps :)

Yum! Some of best Thai food around. I've been here several times and I've been trying different things. It's always good! It's a quiet little hidden spot but a gem! Maybe not the best decor or atmosphere around but you're there for the food right?

The food tasted like fast food Chinese, but took eight times as long. Our dishes all arrived at different times. Nothing on the table matched, from the flatware to the bowls and dishes - even the salt and pepper shakers were different. There was a gnat that joined us for our meal while a weird creepy zombie show played on the flat screen TV on the wall. I wouldn't recommend eating here. Move along.

This is probably my favorite thai place in the city or at least in the top two. The drunken noodles are amazing, with just enough heat for me and loaded with chicken and fresh vegetables. The Tom yum soup is outstanding with a ton of mushrooms and the perfect amount of lemongrass. The location isn't great...but once you try Thai Basil, I don't think you will mind the drive.

Wow pretty good food i must say My friends and i ventured out on a rainy saturday night. we were all hungry and wanted to try something new and had heard Thai Basil had just opened. Located right behind the Dixie Cafe where the old Mandarin Palace used to be. As you enter the restaurant you are greeted by the front counter with a few ladies that can help place your order to go or help you with seating. I think this place can seat up to 60+ We had the basil fried rice, Papaya salad, beef lard nah, chicken wing tossed with onions, jalapeño n garlic and pad see ew. Everything was served pretty quick with just enough flavor. My favorites are the chicken wings with that slight salt n pepper with a kick of jalapeno, the basil fried rice and the beef lard nah or raad nah as they call it. I've been back here twice in the past 3 days, both for a late lunch and dinner and i've become hooked. I haven't been disappointed yet and vow to come back to try something different on the menu. Thumbs up for opening a Thai place in the Bartlett area.

Our first visit and we ordered way too much food but I wanted to try so many menu options. For appetizers we chose Golden Prawns. Large shrimp wrapped in rice paper, deep fried and served with a lemon dipping sauce. Loved the crispy exterior wrap and the tender shrimp inside. The dipping sauce was good but I would have preferred something a little more bold. Bangkok Stuffed Chicken wings. What a surprise! Wings deboned and stuffed with the wing meat, pork, rice, water chestnuts and more. I was expecting something along the size of your normal wing but these are more akin to a small football. They are a meat lovers delight and filled with savory flavor. Papaya Salad was delicious but should be served with lettuce leaves large enough to make a wrap. The lettuce was sliced too small to do this. My only complaint. I will make note of this my next visit. Yellow Curry with Chicken, a soup dish served with white rice. The broth was beyond delicious, the chicken and vegetables perfectly cooked. My dining companion had Pad Thai as her entrée. She described it as very good and from the small sample I had I would agree. Our server was a bit timid but friendly enough and helpful in describing the menu. I will return to sample other menu items

Solid. That's the best way I can describe it. The food is good for Asian take-out, the service is fine, the prices are pretty good. If you want Thai and you're in the area, it's a pretty good option. They do some odd things, like put jalapeno peppers in the drunken noodle, but overall the taste is pretty good for takeout food. I like Bangkok Alley better, but Thai Basil is a good option if you're in Bartlett.

Best Thai in the city. Having lived in Seattle for a year I have very high standards for this cuisine. While Thai Basil is not up to that northwest par, it is significantly better than any of the other Thai places I've tried in Memphis. If you like spicy then get the red curry. If you want to keep it simple get the pad Thai.

Hands down best Thai food in the Memphis area. I have sampled all the Thai offerings this area has to offer and this is it. My family and I have been trying to go at least once a week. We drive all the way to Bartlett from Midtown for this tasty experience of fresh flavors all to be washed down with ice cold Singha served with chilled beer glasses. Although we haven't tried everything in the menu, I can guarantee it all to be good.

The only reason that I tried this place is because of the reviews. I've come to the conclusion that Bartlett people have a horrible taste in food. The food was barely even edible. The Pad Thai was made with canned tomatoes and the beef tasted like cheap cheesesteak beef. The Yellow Curry was overly sweet and very very soupy. The potatoes were undercooked. The service was ok... Except for the waitresses taking selfies the whole time. My advice.. Skip it and go to Bangkok Alley. A little more expensive but definitely worth it.

Hands down my favorite Thai resturant to eat. Prior to this was Thai Emerald "old location". I've been here a handful of times and every visit never seems to disappoint. Their food is very consistent upon every visit. I usually get start off with the papaya salad, and the chicken wings. I absolutely love the chicken wings with jalapenos, onions, and seasonings. Never overcooked dry and always juicy. My entree usually consists of basil fried rice, the fried fish part of the specialty thai items, and any of the curries. I love this place because it is authentic as it can get! I've tried bangkok alley, bhan thai, and their taste is not even close to authentic thai food. This resturant is definitely one of my top 3 choices to eat in memphis!

I really didn't know where to go today to eat. I spent a few hours today in the library being irritated by all the noise and excess people and I started to get hungry.Being that this is in a fairly decent area I knew the Thai food had to be up to standards.Sometimes they cut corners when they see some people aren't so hip to fine Thai cuisne. Not saying Thai Basil does this but living in L.A they tend to turn up the grease factor in more ethnic neighborhoods and cut corners anyway they can. This was a nice restaurant. It had a very feminine décor with pink sofa dining seats.Clean and friendly as most Thai restaurants are and the food was very satisfying. I had the Vegy Pho that came with carrots and broccoli and bok choy.I think it also had lemon grass in it.After I hooked up the broth with Scracha,Hoisin and soy sauce I was very pleased! The Veggy Pho was about $8 and it was well worth it.I wish I could have saved the broth for later. I ordered the Veggy fried rice to go.Extremely large portions and also tasted very good once I added some broth from my pho. All together with the Jasmine tea included I paid under $20.Not the world's cheapest but at least ill have rice to eat for tomorrow that'll be something I enjoy. 5 stars and above until further notice!

This is definitely my top pick for yummy authentic Thai food for the area. I love everything from papaya salad to the curries. My only complaint with the food is the pad thai is made a little too sweet to the taste every time I tried it. Good service. Wish the environment wasn't so loud with colors of oranges and pinks on the walls and chairs. But I guess the food is more important than environment at times. Other than that, it's a pretty good place!

My boyfriend and I went to Thai Basil for dinner at about 5:00 on a Sunday. There was one other table there when we arrived but they left right after we sat down and the other people that came in sat down right before we left. So for most of the time we were the only table and therefore service was great. My boyfriend ordered some Pho Soup w/beef. It was good and had a delicious broth. I ordered the Pad Kee Mao (Drunken noodle) w/beef. It was delicious! There are some spicy sauces for your meal on every table. They do serve Thai beer and domestic beer although I did not partake. I will be making a return visit and I hope they do a good business. Give this place a try if you're in the mood for something different!

It's only been my first time here and it wasn't really a pleasant experience. First off, it's a nice little restaurant when you first enter. There were no problems getting a table for 3. The server was nice but things just changed once we got our food. Apparently she rushed us to pay for our food because she had to change shifts. Well....... apparently, you have to finish your shift and serve us. She kept coming around to check if we brought out our cash. When we finally decicded to pay after the third time we never saw her after that. No water refills or never came around to see how we are doing.Once we started to leave the restaurant, I saw the server hanging around the front counter still working. Seriously?!?! Pissed me off enough to leave a mark for this place. My experience? Bad service, food was bland, I've had better. Not coming here again anytime soon.

Great Thai food and one of only a few options in the Memphis area. The whole family found something they loved, two two seventy two years old. Pad see we has great noodles, tom yum soup is great. Tilapia was good. Vegetarian options available on all entres, just ask.

Excellent! Brings me bake to the month I spent in a small military base near Phuket. Vegetable spring rolls were delicious, perfect amount of mint. Massaman curry was very, very good. This will be a regular place when in town.

I've been to half a dozen Thai restaurants in the Memphis area. Emerald has been my top pick for thai in Memphis because it tasted good without charging more than a Chinese place. Thai basil is along the same lines: good thai good at reasonable prices. The food: massaman curry and pad thai were delicious if a little too sweet; spicy beef salad (yum neah) was delicious and very spicy; and thai tea was tasty as well. I will be back very soon to try more dishes. Thai Basil is my new preference for Thai food in Memphis.

Ate at Thai Basil last week (beginning 2014) - first the inside of the restaurant is just OK, very dated but it looks clean. The staff is very casual, not properly trained, but is trying to please the customer. We had Tom Yum Soup - which was ok - not enough veggies, shrimp, beef and chicken in the soup. The Pad Thai was acceptable, again not enough vegetables. The drunken noodles were very good. Overall, the food portions were HUGE and the food when served hot and fresh was very good - not the best Thai food I have ever had, but for the price very acceptable. Service not so good, refills of water took a while, no upselling, or stopping by the table if we needed anything else, etc.... This being said - I still think it's a find, especially if you are student or on a smaller budget. You get a lot of food for your dollar. One side note : we reheated our leftovers the next day and they weren't that great anymore. Hopefully if they up their service a bit they will become a local favorite.

Our group had 7 adults and everyone ordered different items so we were able to sample quite a few dishes. I will have to say everything was very good and fresh. I was pleasantly surprised and will return for sure. I didn't take any pictures of the food before we ate so my pictures would have been of empty plates so next time I'll have to take pictures before we devour. If you have had Thai food you will like it and if you haven't don't be afraid to try it...
