Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

I'm giving 2 stars for the dessert selections on the buffet. The desserts were great and home-made and delicious. The buffet was basically an American buffet with a few trays of Mexican stuff thrown in. Rice, beans, pre-rolled tacos with cheese sauce on top, and not-so-great fajita meat in a steam table. Ribs are of the "boiled and covered in sauce at the last minute" variety, and the rest of the buffet is fried chicken, wings, tenders, rolls, etc. They do bread their own chicken and tenders, but it's so over-cooked that it defeats the purpose. Unlike my kids/wife, I ordered off the menu. I figure a good Speedy Gonzalez is the best way to determine if a mexican restaurant is up to snuff. The ground beef was average. The shredded chicken at least had some flavor (cumin, mainly), and they use actual shredded cheese on stuff. The enchiladas were put together seconds before coming to the table, just a corn tortilla with meat rolled inside, a splash of generic red sauce and a sprinkle of cheese on top. It didn't have any depth of flavor or anything that you associate with good enchilada. It was a taco with sauce on. I'm from Nashville, which may or may not be a great place for authentic Mexican food, depending on where you choose to eat, but other than the excellent Mexican deserts (cinnamon flan, peach cobbler and banana pudding), this was on par with the typical El Cheapo Mexican restaurants that dot most small cities and towns. Service was perfectly fine, and the price was nice. Kids under 4 eat free. My son loves tacos and guacamole (the more authentic, the better!), but he didn't really like anything at El Olmeca except for the beans. We needed lunch, and El Olmeca provided lunch. The two glowing reviews on Yelp are over-stating the case, to put it mildly, but it's probably the best hispanic food in Ardmore, so maybe it's just a scarcity issue.

Best Mexican in Ardmore. Good food, fast service and good prices. And excellent salsa! They have outdoor dining on the front porch.

Excellent mexican food! They also offer a lunch buffett Mon-Fri, 11am-1pm (I think). It is full of just about anything including some american favorites such as bbq ribs and for a very reasonable price. They also have the buffett on Sun. from 11-2. We eat here often, good food, good price, good service...you just can't beat it!

No complaints really. Excellent lunch buffet, could have a few more items but it's good for what you pay for. Huge portions from the menu and quick service. Cheap beers compared to other restaurants. Good experience every time I've been. Taste is 4.5/5. Better than other Mexican restaurants.

My absolute favorite Mexican restaurant in North Alabama. The staff is wonderful and the food is great. They offer a nice lunch buffet everyday except Saturday and have daily lunch and dinner specials. The food is always fresh and the portions are large.

I have been there many times and Friday was the last straw. They had a lunch buffet from 11 to 2. They ran out of most things at 1245. My wife ordered off the menu. No problem unless you count the 30 minutes it took for the waiter to take our order. It seems they have a one refill max, because getting some drink seems to take forever. I have always seemed to be an inconvenience for the wait staff, so I will not burden them again. The other Mexican place in town is soooooo much better.

Incredibly fast service with a comprehensive and delicious menu offering. Do yourself a favor and come here. I only come when I'm visiting family for Christmas, but I simply won't miss it - it's that good. Today I had the Fajitas Olmeca and they were fantastic! My mom had the Piña Olmeca and it is served in a half pineapple! Delicious! Don't be fooled by the nondescript exterior. This place is worth a stop.

Good Mexican food. It's hot and fresh and ever so filling. The staff is on top of the service, quality and hospitality. The restaurant has some good decor warm and welcoming. The cheese dip, salsa and chips are fresh. Only reason I gave 4 stars is because of Rosie's in Huntsville there tortillas and some other items are homemade.

Delicious food, nice atmosphere, usually very good service (we occasionally get an inattentive waiter, but most of the wait staff is awesome). I always get the vegetarian fajitas and they're the best I've ever had at a Mexican restaurant.

Mediocre at best. Service is consistently poor. Salsa is good. Nothing special, just convenient in Ardmore.

When travelling between Nashville and Huntsville or Birmingham, it's worth your time to schedule your trip around a stop at this place for lunch. Some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. I highly recommend the Burrito Macho.

I ate there in May 2012 with my brother. Good selection on the menu. Prices were reasonable. Restaurant decor is very nice. Service was excellent -- our waiter was polite, attentive, and efficient. Food was OK, nothing special.
