Been on the road, road tripping across the US. Had to stop in Wall for the Wall Drug phenomenon. I must say for food on the road, I wasn't disappointed. It filled me up, yummy salad bar. Everyone arrived hungry and left with a full belly. Thumbs up!

Had the 4 meat buffet. This included 3 meats, a empty pot of mashed potatoes, Kraft Mac and cheese, a salad bar and empty pot of chicken rice soup. The 3 meats in the 4 meat buffet included fried dehydrated chicken, bbq ribs from an unknown creature and mini hotdogs in a watered down bbq sauce. Even the pop sucked. Watered down. No biggie because the waitress never came around to refill it. Others in our party had the buffalo burger. Way over cooked, super dry, very lame.

Delicious. The staff was friendly, and very conscientious about making sure we were satisfied. My husband had the buffalo rib eye, which was perfectly prepared and delicious. I had the beef tacos which were also delicious. We are going back tomorrow to have the buffet which looked wonderful, was very popular, and is priced very reasonably. Good selection of beers.

Inedible food. Chicken had raw red juices oozing out of it. Waitstaff was sweet though! But honestly I would have rather eaten fast food. Not many options in this town

All the reviews are true and what it comes down to is how the reviewer looked at the situation at hand. Did they give it a real full fledged review or compare it to the options around the Wall, SD (which is far and few to say the least). Service: either they put something in the drinking water or this joint is run by teenagers. They were raised well as the service was pretty good. Salad bar: bagged salad and what was apparently corn and ranch dressing were amongst the options. Soup: potato and bacon. Kind of mushy. Main dish: - Today's Special: the Walleye (not a fun play on words where they exchanged "rib" for "wall". It's a kind of fish.) - Ribeye: decent. I envision myself eating this in a diner all across 'merica! I asked for medium rare and medium rare is what I got! Additional: casino attached? I looked inside and only found confused faces looking back. I found no casino and pretty much scared off. Overall: service was great, food could have been worse, but was very overpriced.

My husband and I both enjoyed the soup and salad bar during our stop in Wall. Nice selection of tasty salads and very good homemade soups. We especially enjoyed the homemade chocolate cream pie! Definitely worth the calories - we split a piece!

We chose this restaurant because of the lack of options in Wall (Wall drug cafe closes at 4:45!). My sister ordered a buffalo burger, but they were out! That seemed strange in SoDak, where people come to eat buffalo! We sat in the bar so we could watch a game. The bartender was very accommodating and changed the channel. They only serve bottles in the bar, so sont ask for a mixed drink. I ordered the steak, which was cooked correctly but overpriced. Service in the bar was friendly and attentive.

Loved this place, good home and made from scratch cooking. I had the very tasty country fried steak, my wife, the walleye. Both tasted great and were served in a timely manner. It was nice that both came with the soup and salad bar. Service was excellent. All of it was priced right too. When we come through Wall, SD again, we will be sure to dine here again. I would give it 4.5 stars.

We just ate here. There were 6 of us and our service was quick as to greeting us, drinks, ordering and food delivery. But most importantly- the food was absolutely wonderful. The 1/2 lb bacon cheeseburger on the nicely grilled bun was perfectly cooked. My hubby and i shared the order and i was sad i shared after how good it tasted! Others had fish sandwich and crispy chicken sandwiches. They too said their food was great. We have to also say the fries were awesome- our waitress said it was a new kind they are trying. Thanks for the terrific lunch!

There are not many choices of restaurants in Wall South Dakota open at this time of year. Am unsure if there are many choices of restaurants open in Wall South Dakota at any time of year. However this restaurant was highly recommended to us as a place where the locals go to eat. If this is true, I feel somewhat bad for the locals as it is not a place I would recommend or write home about. The menu was very limited and prices very high, even for the tourist off season. I wondered if we were given the tourist menu with the higher prices regardless. The waiter was very pleasant though. But between my wife, 14-year-old son, and me, we spent almost $60 on two cheeseburgers, an order of onion rings, and a soup and salad bar. No drinks. Our son asked for cheese, bacon, lettuce and tomato on his burger. I winced during all of this since each of those items was at least a dollar to $1.50 apiece as an add-on. So his $10 basic hamburger turned into $15. Pretty hefty for a non-gourmet, straightahead patty hamburger. As an aside, my wife's salad bar was all you can eat but the plate provided was the size of a tea saucer. Very disappointed and feeling taken advantage of. With the amount of traffic which Wall Drug brings to the city, one would think there would be more restaurant competition and, accordingly, better food and prices. I strongly recommend you pass on this restaurant and bring your own food into the city or find something to eat on either side of it. I regret the strong words but I truly wish we had a different experience as we really like to support the small locally owned businesses. But in this case, we could not afford it and do not feel it was worth the money we spent. I guess we did at least support the small local business.

Place was really busy and only 1 person working out front. He had to wait, seat and checkout everyone. I gave him extra patience due to that but unfortunately our food took an hour to get so we were not happy. Then the buffalo burger tasted like a frozen beef hamburger and the steak sandwich wasn't much better. I would avoid this place, we won't be back

We got seated right away but that was the extent of our good luck with this restaurant. The salad bar was half empty and even at 6:00 PM did not look like it was going to be refilled any time soon. That's OK normally but our food did not come out for a solid 45 minutes after we ordered. The waitress never checked in with us once in fact look like she was trying to avoid us. The food was very average except for my daughter's grilled cheese which was absolutely inedible. It must have been fried in oil that was a few days old. Next time we'll eat at the drug store.

We ate dinner here our two nights in Wall. I had the sirloin steak which was thick and cooked perfectly to medium rare. Items on the salad bar were fresh and the vegetable soup was light and tasty. Servers worked hard to keep up with all of their tables and did a good job. Wine by the glass is very reasonably priced. Our group of four had the walleye special the second night. It was moist with a fresh, mild flavor. My companions enjoyed the hamburgers and chopped steak also. Great little restaurant for this small community.

If this restaurant were in Chicago, it'd merit maybe 1.5 stars. But in Wall, where a Subway attached to a gas station/convenience store is the second-best restaurant, this gets four stars for being the best. I'm a vegetarian, but I decided my first night's stay that I needed to break my vows for one night and try buffalo. I ordered a buffalo burger and fries to go, and they reached my hotel room within 20 minutes. The deliverer was nice, and the food was perfect for a hungry traveler whose car had broken down. My only quibble is that there's a charge for onions and lettuce on the burger. To me, those should be like the R, S, T, L, N and E on Wheel of Fortune. They should be automatic. My friend and I went to the restaurant a couple of nights later, and it was far superior to the terrible faux-Mexican place we'd eaten at in Wall. The atmosphere was homey; there's a plaque on the wall honoring the Wall High School football champs. From 1993. The food hit the spot; I got a fish burger with potato wedges, and my friend got a steak with waffle fries. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. Nothing in Wall is far from Wall Drug, but this is a couple of blocks away and doesn't feel like part of the cluster of tourism.

We arrived here driving west, on our way to Badlands National Park. Wall is home to Wall Drug, the tourist trap that even I couldn't deny a visit; it also, on this night, seemed a decent place to settle down for the night. This place was next door to our motel, and it looked great at first, as they advertised a "beer garden". No arm twisting needed there. Once we were in the door, we discovered the beer garden "just an outdoor seating section, I suppose" was closed. It was late July, so it wasn't because of the weather, but rather that they didn't have the staff to handle opening another section. As a server who's been in this situation, I grumblingly accepted and sat indoors. At least the beer will be good. Nope! Nothing but terrible domestic bottles, Busch and Keystone and the like, with maybe a few standard imports like Corona. I drank the one I'd never had before - "Premium Grain Belt Beer" - and it made me want to cry. The four of us perused the bare-bones menu, and settled on wings for an app. They were so disgusting, slimy and brimming with fat, we couldn't finish them despite our ravenous appetites. I ate a burger for dinner, the one redeeming factor in my visit. It was a good burger, but nowhere near enough to salvage this unpleasant experience. Our server gave us the same don't-care-one-bit vibe that she gave her other tables. Not rude, but fully aware that each of her guests would probably never return to town for any reason, let alone return to this sad excuse for an eating and drinking establishment. I'm not surprised one bit that I'm the first reviewer for this place. I would have forced it out of my memory too, had I not been in the midst of a photograph-filled cross-country road trip at the time. Believe me, folks, this was a low point.

Subway would be better than this place. First the food was very expensive. The selection is average. The salad bar left a lot to be desired. But the worst of the worst was the Lumpy Gravy. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

The options for "fine dining" in Wall are non-existent. Actually, the choices for just plain dining are pretty limited, too. The Red Rock Restaurant, however, offers a nice evening out, especially if you like red meat. The restaurant has a homey feel and, the night we were there, the locals out numbered the tourists (which included us.) Our waitress was friendly and attentive. We ordered the buffalo steak and were informed it was no longer being served as buffalo had become too expensive. We opted for the ribeye steak and mashed potatoes with white gravy. It came with a salad, for which we were directed to the salad bar. If you're thinking of ordering just the salad bar, you might take a look at it the salad bar first; it consists of basically four typical salad items: greens, broccoli, baby carrots and something else I'm now forgetting. Sadly, there were no tomatoes, which I consider to be an essential salad ingredient. There was also a macaroni salad, a bean salad, and two other containers I'm now forgetting. In terms of wine, there are five wines which are served from individual small serving bottles from "Barefoot Bynum" winery. I ordered the Cabernet, but was shortly informed by our waitress that they were out. I followed up with the Merlot, which was okay. The ribeye was nicely done, but maybe a little too salted. The mashed potatoes were okay, but the white gravy left me wondering what it was really made of and should I have ordered a more flavorful color. Overall, we were satisfied with the meal and feel we made the best choice in Wall. When I return to the Badlands and stay in Wall, I'd come back here.

We had a delightful dinner here. The service was very friendly and attentive. Drinks came quickly, and our daughters were offered refills on lemonade. Two of us had burgers and one had the patty melt. All three were delicious and cooked to perfection. One of us ordered steak, cooked medium. He thought the edges were more like medium well, but said all in all, it was quite good. We were pleased that our waitress was accommodating of the substitutions; even though the menu stated they would be extra, our waitress took care of us. We subbed hash browns and salad bar for fries with the burger and patty melt. The salad bar was very basic. From the time we were seated till we were walking out the door was slightly under an hour. On this night, the food seemed to be coming out of the kitchen in a very timely fashion. As another reviewer stated, in a different town this restaurant might be more of a three star or even two and a half star joint. Here in Wall, it was very satisfying.

We stopped here for lunch at the recommendation of the owner of our motel. It was very clean and the service was great. There was a soup and salad bar that was simple, yet good. The soup was chicken noodles, homemade withits of noodles. The meal portions were generous.

As so many have said this is the best Wall has to offer. After visiting the local tourist traps near (in)famous Wall Drugs our hotel clerk pointed us to the Red Rock for dinner. Allegedly, this is where the locals go. I pity them. The Red Rock was a homey, pay at the counter style place. The menu offerings include sandwiches and a few meaty dinner options. My vegan daughter had to settle for onion rings, but that isn't unexpected in these types of places. My wife selected a cod sandwich, which she enjoyed. I picked up a pricey country fried steak -- breaded hamburger with milk gravy. Well, I've had better at a KFC. My dinner included a salad bar. The salad bar was: 1.) iceberg lettuce, 2.) whole spring onions, 3.) whole radishes, and 4.) shredded cheese. The soup container was completely empty with the exception of charred bits of ??? at the bottom of the vat. The advertised beer garden was closed, but the restaurant offered a beer selection from Budweiser to Budweiser Clamato. Some small bottle wines were available.

The food was good and the service was very nice. The waitress was very accommodating of my daughters special dietary needs and came back often to check in with us. It is a very home style place that anyone can feel comfortable in for the most part. Our waitress was eating her lunch between serving tables which made me question the sanitation a bit but since she wasn't cooking the food and didn't seem to be in direct contact with any of the food, I didn't say anything. Next time in Wall, if I wanted a buffalo burger, I would go back here again.
