Carey's is the flagship bar in Vermillion. It has the most tradition, best bartenders, and widest selection of beer. Everyone is welcome at Carey's. Their Bloody Mary was named the best in the state by Absolút Vodka. Ask for it extra spicy if you like a good kick. Bartenders know obscure shots and drinks so nothing is off the menu. Named in the Top 100 College Bars for Bros by BroBible, momentos of USD's past are displayed behind the bar. The booths are small, but every seat tells a story as students have carved their initials into the wood. The outdoor patio is spacious and a great place to hang out when it's warm. They do not serve food and take cash only (there is an ATM inside). However, you are allowed to bring food from other restaurants inside to eat. You can also purchase a mix-and-match six pack to-go. No stop in Vermillion is complete without a drink at Carey's.

A decent place to go and drink. Their tap is worthy of tryout. The guys running the place were all-in-all good folks. This is a cozy dive bar with wood throughout. A cool place to have a pint. On slow nights I was welcomed wholeheartedly from the crew working the bar, on the weekends I wasn't as appreciated for the place was catering to the young USD crowd. If in the area I would go back for a drink, but maybe on a Wednesday rather than a Friday.

According to Shawn everyone who is anyone goes to Carey's that's the type of people you come across. Just listen to the attitude in that statement. If you go with your own friends not a bad place but it can be hard to move around when it gets busy on the weekends.

Great place for a cocktail. People start to show up at 11 pm. Back patio has potential. Great bar for town.

This bar is a stable of the Vermillion bar scene. Everyone who is anyone goes to Carey's. In this college town this is the place to be. Bartenders know how to make a good drink, they always have enough people staffed, the prices are very good, and the bar has a lot of history. On D-Days, many of the university alum who come back to town make an effort to stop at this bar. If you're in Vermillion, I highly recommend stopping here for a drink.

Pretty good beer selection---they have Mirror Pond and a couple of other "craft" beers--but not as good as Raziel's selection. Atmosphere is fun, especially Fridays with the live band (5ish-7ish)
