My sweets said it is going to blow our son's mind that I was ever in this bar...but hey, sometimes work and fun go hand in hand. This is the craziest bar and singlehandedly the most fun I've ever had so far in my lifetime. There is a burnout pit, you can drive your hog right in and there is tons of parking (although you should seriously think of getting a DD or cab.) The only down side is the port-a-potties, but with the size and location, there is only so much they can do. I woke up the next morning with tire chunks in my hair and under my nails and a whopping hangover. If I'm ever in the area again, this is a must stop. Strongly suggest going during Sturgis; you'll meet everyone and anyone from around the U.S. and beyond.

I cannot tell about the food or prices as we did not get waited on the 15 minutes we sat there. It was about 8pm and 1/2 full, there was 2 employed wiping tables and chatting, flirting, I tried to wave then over but was ignored, then I walked up to the bar but after a 5 min wait there we left.

Very large biker bar.....packed parking lot.....burnout pit......bands......tatoo parlor........you name it...they have it. Loud.....noisy .......much drunkenness ....tourist trap.......overall a HELL of a good time (at least once). You'll leave there with stories that will put a smile on your face when you are trying to tell them.

Gotta see the "freak Show"! We stopped at the Full throttle Saloon during the 75 anniversary Sturgis Motorcycle rally (2015). A trip to Sturgis is not complete without a stop at the FTS! We usually stop during the afternoon, so it's not quite as busy, but the people watching is still excellent. We stopped for a beer and got to see a bit of midget wrestling. We also got to see the guy who was hoisted off the stage, using the fish hooks that were impaled in his back (check out my photo). All this going on while people flew by overhead on the zip line. If you arrive early you can avoid the cover charges and see some good live music. Walking around the property you'll see years worth of cool collected junk used to decorate the bar. The people watching is fun, the waitress are scantily dressed, and the drinks are expensive ($5 beer), but it's like passing an accident on the freeway, you just gotta take a look! Visited August 2015

This place is nuts. Visited several times during the rally. Pros: - it's HUGE. There are so many things to do and look at. - Great for people-watching. Almost anything goes for this place - Friendly (and good looking!) staff - They had free samples of their moonshine Cons: - Way over-priced. $14 for a fajita? $8 for a slice of pizza? They clearly use their reputation to jack up prices and rip people off - Can't pay for a drink with a card. Cash only, which is ridiculous. - Very, very crowded during rally. You have to get there early to get good spot for the concerts. Overall, 3/5. Definitely a place to check out for the experience.

Not sure why some of the negative reviews about the staff here? The lady waitresses were really nice and friendly helped me with finding me a hoodie and t shirt to wear along with my hoodie. Maybe some of the waitresses were caught off guard or busy doing something. This saloon is big on the inside and on the outside. They offer a full bar which includes beer, liquor, whiskey and moonshine they make. They do sale their own merchandise to the fans of all kinds or just someone wants a gift from Full Throttle Saloon. Plenty of seating and parking. Over all experience very nice place and really helpful staff.

Stopped here yesterday to check it out. Seriously the most low energy place I've been to. Lots of families and older people gawking through merch. Ordered an $8 Miller Lite from a less than friendly bartender. If it wasn't on TV, I doubt they would make it. Much cooler places with much friendlier people and MUCH cheaper beer. Stop by and check it out just to say that you've been there, but don't expect too much

Sorry to see it go. Glad no one was hurt and saddened for the Ballards loss.

Okay, so the full throttle saloon....Hmmm, well although it was an interesting part of the whole Sturgis bike week thing, it by far wasn't the be all, end all of Sturgis like some of the hype goes. The inside of the main bar area is absolutely deafening with the band going, etc. it's so loud and distorted you can't even hear yourself think. However, once you can manage to get to the outside it's a different story. The goings-on in the outside area were actually pretty cool. From the motorcycle burnouts, to the flaunt girls show, it was much better to be outside! Sturgis bike week 2014 was my first time there in Sturgis for any reason. Although I will go back sometime, I think it's 50/50 that I would visit full throttle again. From the insanely loud noise inside, to the exorbitantly high price drinks I'm just not so sure. However, for a first timer to Sturgis, The full throttle is certainly a must see... Once!

This bar is rocking! Has several bars in 1. When you enter we were greated by a live band in one of the bars. We continued to walk through and went into another bar that had music bumping! We walked through that and was in the main outside area that has several other areas to buy alcohol. They had a live taping going on of biker games where the female passenger was to see how far she could bite up on a hot dog. Anyway, the bar maids were all dressed in literally nothing and over all we enjoyed our time there. Once the rain started we ended up leaving to check out the other area bars. Yes, this is a must stop and see during the Sturgis bike rally.

Let me start off with saying that my husband and I were big fans of the show. It was on our bucket list of things to do and we drove 1700 miles to get there. We went there twice during the Sturgis 2015 rally. First the things we like,,, So much to look at! Visually stimulating with all the repurposed old buses, vehicles, car parts etc. The flaunt girls were great and they upped their game with the aerial acts. The port a johns were very clean. The motorcycle riders inside the metal ball were excellent. There was a handsome guy at the male run bar station, and he drew lots of women over there, and he really put on a show for everyone. There should have been more guys over there to help him out. What we didn't like....very run down. Didn't look they cleaned the place after the rally last year. The food was terrible and way overpriced. The guy that made our steak sandwich wasn't even wearing gloves! The drinks were all watered down and cry expensive. $3 for a 17 cent bottle of water. Nowhere to sit. The old furniture and tables were ready to be thrown out. I understand it is a biker bar, but fabric upholstered furniture that has been left out in the rain and is moldy and dirty is never appealing to sit on. Some of the chairs had wheels and some of the wheels were missing. Throw them out! You can buy used office furniture cheap. What we saw of the bands were good. But at one point the music being played off a cd or something started skipping and it went on for like forever and then the next song came on and that started skipping too. Went on for like 30 minutes and no one corrected the situation. There were big breaks between all acts and entertainment. All acts or antics should be on a platform so you can see them. Even from way high up we couldn't see the midget wrestlers or that stupid act with the girls with the whipped cream, that was narrated by a woman with a gravelly voice. Whoever thought of that act, it was incredibly unentertaining. They finally opened up the mechanical bull and it immediately had people lining up for it because beside the zip lines there really wasn't much to do. Last, and I feel bad about this part. A lot of the girls that were out walking the grounds were tiny and unhealthy looking. My husband said their clothes were actually dirty. They looked underfed, and one girl pole dancing on a bar had bruises and welts on her. She should not have been up there. Girls behind the bars were pretty good looking and very nice and professional. This review is meant to be taken constructively. We went there 3 times during our trip, and I would definitely not tell people to go there. That being said The Full Throttle is a powerhouse in this area and I feel that they need to make some improvements in order to compete with the Buffalo Chip and the Beaver Bar that are just sitting there waiting to take all their business away.

Thank you Full Throttle Saloon in Sturgis, South Dakota for being total ASSHOLES to me! What you see on television about them being family, lovee-dovee, blah, blah, blah is nothing but pure BULLSHIT! Back in February I reserved a cabin at The Full Throttle Saloon for my ride out to Sturgis to celebrate the 75th year of the rally. It was going to be my first time out to the rally. I was wide-eyed and full of excitement about the trip. I decided to book my cabin at The Full Throttle Saloon at that time for $3600.00 because of a conversation and a few texts I had exchanged with Angie Ballard. She seemed nice enough and I even offered to help their church service by playing some music for them. I even sang for her over the phone. Also, I made every one of my four payments ON TIME! The day before I was scheduled to ride out I had a medical check up for some pain I had been having in my left calf. Turns out I had a blood clot in my left leg. I promptly called The Full Throttle Saloon the next day to explain the situation to them and asked for my $3600.00 to be refunded due to medical circumstances beyond my control. Fortunately, but still a big financial hit for me they had only charged my credit card three times with a charge of approx. $923.00 each time. The gal I spoke with on their cabin line told me to be patient and let Angie deal with the deluge of details for the 75th anniversary and they would get back to me. After waiting until the rally was over still no call even after repeated attempts. Yeah....some family ya got there at the Throttle Michael and Angie. Really? SO, if you want to get screwed by a business with no sense of morals or ethics hand your hard-earned dollars over to The Full Throttle and watch it magically disappear as they hide behind policy instead of doing the right thing. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the Throttle re-rented my cabin and double-dipped on it. DISGUSTING, This is how you treat a 61 year old man with a blood clot in his leg? Money Grubbers and GreedMongers! In essence, you stole my money for absolutely no services rendered whatsoever, Prior to my blood clot developing I called and called for three months with ZERO return phone calls just trying to get a receipt for the payments I had made. You did no work here whatsoever! Karma is a bitch Michael and Angie and you have stacked up a shitload of it with the way you screwed me, Potential buyers BEWARE! These folks are not what they appear to be!

Not at all living up to TV hype. Dead pre rally week. So must be dead all year except rally week.

Expensive to get into, expensive to drink here, and you really aren't getting anything for your money. Drinks and watered down and you have to brave some pretty nasty terrain if you need to pee. On a side note: The owner is rude to people when dines at other establishments in the community. He doesn't like to be recognized and to that I say why the he'll does he have a TV show and put himself on all the billboards?

    (1)
  • Bernie G.

The owner is rude and I'm not sure if they say the owner is who they say he is.the employees are treated like slaves .employees are Abused in front of customers not a good way to do business.you can get a better meal at a New York soup kitchen.drinks well all I can say you can get a good glass of water there for $10.that mike Ballard only cares about money he will kill his own mother for a dollar real big winner.stay away from this place

I cant imagine what Full Throttle is like not during Sturgis---but we went a few times Sturgis 12', and it was a blast!! We LOVED it... Who cares how dirty it is-- its a freaking biker bar people..! We were there when the show was being taped, and my sweetest better half cornered Mike coming outta the bar so I could get my picture taken with him, and the cameras were right behind him... he was taked off guard but nice enough to let me take my picture with him, after all it WAS my birthday! We never ate, we just drank beer, and you dont come to Full Throttle expecting high class-- you come for the experience... We saw Tanya Tucker and Travis Tritt another night, the cover charge was extremely reasonable to get in for the concerts... we will be returning the next time we are in Sturgis..thanks Mike and Angie!

The TruTV show is great (covering, mainly, the week-long Sturgis Rally in of August each year, since the series started in 2009), the biggest issue I have now is, what are the ACTUAL HOURS OF OPERATION, and the 731 area code phone number on the Full Throttle website is a non-working number. Wikipedia article states the BAR is open 7 months every year, and the RALLY is only 10 days. The 10.00 cover charge was ONLY applied for ONE HOUR (as seen in the series) of the 2013 Rally! The BAR may indeed have a cover charge, however.

  • Clarissa M.

Before I could get into the bar I had to wait while the help was chatting with someone and taking pictures. We had to pay a $10/person cover charge for a band that wasn't playing still at 11pm when we left. The bar service was horrible. There were 3 male non working bartenders (one of which was texting on his iPhone) while I waited to be served my $7 drink which did come with a free shot of S'loonshine (but the bartender didn't know all the flavors it came in). When I finally got my drink it was so watered down that I was more sober when I left than when I came. I used to go to the FTS years ago when it wasn't so commercialized and it was a good biker bar. Now all they care about is publicity and money.

Visited twice already on this visit, the diviest of all biker dive bars. Looks like the bar scene in Star Wars but the bartenders were a little better looking. $5.50 for 16oz cold bottle beer is not that high with plenty of enterainment and a TV show being filmed all the time. Luv it!

  • Emily T.

Cool to say I was there, my bloody was just tomato juice dumped in some cheap vodka (6$), credit card machines werent working (although this is "the off season") the bartender was nice and informative, but the place itself was just OK for me.

It doesn't surprise me that there were no other Yelps for the Full Throttle but when I saw it listed I couldn't pass up the chance. The only way to describe it is the ultimate biker bar, huge bar, cold beer, shots, and two live bands playing at the same time.Thats how big the place is. Inside is a burnout pit, where can show off your bike horse power and burn off the rear tire off to the roar of cheers and straight exhaust pipes. Like "bike week' anywhere ,Laconia,Myrtle,or Sturgis its pretty much the same, but this place ,like Sturgis "Full Throttle" is bigger and better.

Dave and Steve rode our Harley all the way to Sturgis from Livermore Ca for the first time for 2013 rally.. it was a bucket list thing for Steve and I to do this before we got too old to ride that way, 1500 miles one way. I prepaid $100.00 donation for both of us to ride in the Pappy Hoel ride with the Full Throttle Saloon last June to secure our place for 2013. On 8/7/13 the big day came and we went over to the Full Throttle on our bikes and got in line. I asked for Maps or where we were going and the help said it is up to Michael Ballard to decide where to go. We had to wait over an hour later to get started which was suppose to be 11 am and turned into 12:30 pm and there were over 500 bikes in the crowd waiting in the hot sun. The Full Throttle web site said there was a limited amount of bikes allowed, but it looked like they took everyone. is it always about the money? Jesse Dupree came up and down the lines and told us all to go through town and when we got by a liquor store that no longer carried their brand alcohol, to honk our horns. I knew this was a mistake without a police escort with all the stop signs and stop lights through town. Steve and I were about 100 bikes in the line is my guess and sure enough they lost us and we were left behind and no idea where to go. It would have been nice if they would have stopped to wait for everyone to catch up when they got to open rode. Steve and I went back to the Full Throttle to talk to management about a refund and left our name and cell phone number. I was assured someone would call us that night. No one did to my extreme disappointment. I went back to the Full Throttle the next day on Thursday and went to the office where I met Angie's parents Randy and Jody, (very nice people). I told them the story again about how we were left behind and asked for a refund. They told me the money was already sent to the Humane Society and could not be refunded. So I asked if they could maybe give us a couple of T shirts or something like that, and Jody said that might be possible and not to worry that Michael Ballard is good about this type of thing. I was assured they would call my cell phone by that night. I advised Jody and Randy that I was leaving on Friday to back to California and hope they could call soon about the T shirt so I could pick it up. I never got a call and most of all disappointed I missed the ride of my life, something I always wanted to do. I feel ripped off and cheated Michael Ballard! This was a once in a lifetime opportunity shot by lousy planning on your part. What was Jesse thinking when he said we should all ride through town where traffic is all backed up? Where was the police escort so we would not get separated? The next day I was in town and saw a large group of bikes come through and they had a motorcycle cop escorting them through all the lights. Why could you not do that? The Full Throttle Saloon and entertainment was a very big disappointment to me. Even a phone call would have been good to hear from you either way. I will be telling everyone I know what a bad experience this was for me and recommend not to support the Pappy Hoel ride as it is only about the money with Michael Ballard it seems like. Sending all my best to Jody and Randy for taking the time to talk to me. Regards Dave Smith Livermore CA.

Horrible bar!!! I can't speak for how the place is during a show, but this place SUCKS as a bar. About half of the bar has been converted to a retail shop. We went in the evening on a Friday night a couple of weeks ago. The place was DIRTY as hell. Cigarette butts and food all over the floor inside. More flies than I've EVER seen in a bar. I love a good dive bar, but this place had "health code violation" written ALL over it!! The girl bartender didn't know what a well drink was- seriously! Drinks were made poorly. One employee in a wife beater t-shirt was totally rude to a customer who was trying to get a drink. . Might be fun for a show, but sucks if you're looking to drink at the bar.

Pure Awesome'ness... If you are coming to the Sturgis Rally, you can skip the (now) main-stream downtown Sturgis Scene and just come here. You absolutly will not regret it. The Throttle has about everything, dancers, burnout pit, bars, tattoo parlor, concerts, a new zip line, and lots of booze. We make this a regular stop each year and it is just as much fun each and everytime. We have met Michael Balard (owner) as im sure many people have, and he is extremely nice to guests even thou you can see he is very busy. We will be back next year, and the following year.

Overpriced dump. If you go to Sturgis for the rally you have to go to the Full Throttle to say you went. Just walk through and leave. No need to pay for the marked up warm beer.

Just one of those got to go places when your in Surgis. Well we went several times, Have some of my best memorys with my buddys from this place like doing the zip line while Ted Nudget plays Cat Scratch Fever, sitting on somebodys front tire while he does a big smokey burnout, Oh yea don't forget Jackel Thursday. Alway have a DD! Beer was cold and the service was good looking.

  • Michelle W.

You should experience Full Throttle just to say you went, but I didn't find it to be the funnest place to hang out. They totally short pour the drinks, so you're paying about $7 for less than an oz of alcohol. During the rally the port o potties are so rank that you can smell them from the parking lot. They have a lot of dancers to watch. Most of them are hot women who can entertain the crowds. If you're a people watcher you may really enjoy this place!
