We arrived with a warm welcome from Jeremy however once we met the other partner Ron things changed. Ron was hosting a 50th class reunion and was not prepared to take care of the guest (meaning us). He was preparing for a brunch for the reunion and for us the breakfast consisted of fried eggs, a couple pieces of bacon and toast; no cream for the coffee or milk. The following day we came back from sightseeing. A group of people who were friends and family of the grounds keeper were drinking, smoking and very loud. We had to walk through them to get in to the B&B. Our room had not been made up. The groundskeeper called Ron and he came over and said he did not know why the maid had not cleaned our room and that he would take care of it. I mentioned that we didn't not approve of having the walk through a bunch of people drinking, smoking and very loud in which he replied that the grounds keeper lives here too and it was his home as well so "it is what it is". I told him I didn't think it was appropriate and that it should matter to the "playing guests". He did not agree and told me that I was out of line and that he would not apologize to me. Extremely rude for a business owner of a B&B. You would think the owner would tell the ground s keeper that if anyone was staying at the B&B that there should be no parting. We refused his "so called" breakfast for the next morning telling him that we would be out early in the morning. We stayed at four B&B's on our trip and this was the worst and most unprofessional ran B&B we have ever stayed at. The Vacuum cleaner was in the living room, reunion books all over the table hardly a space for us to eat. The bathroom was extremely small, one could not turn around with the door closed. If you are thinking about booking a room at the Hitching Horse B&B I would find another B&B to stay at.

Hospitality without peer in Pierre. Warm, friendly greeting from owners Ron and Jeremy. 1900s family residence fully and beautifully restored. Rooms well appointed. The baths enhanced with rain head shower fixtures that are terrific for tall folks! I had a custom order omelette that was delicious and included with the reasonable room rate.

I loved my stay here. The owners are friendly. The room was awesome. I hope to not return to Pierre, but would stay here again if I did.

This bed and breakfast was amazing. There are two owners, an older man and a younger guy. They were so nice and very accommodating. The house is gorgeous, newly renovated but still quaint. There is a bar on the first floor as well, which we weren't able to go to but looked fun. The owners were happy to recommend places to go for food or anything else. The bathroom was modern, and for the price, you won't find a cleaner more comfortable room. It was a great deal, especially with the delicious breakfast. I would recommend this to everyone.

My family and I stayed here for a short visit to Pierre. This is not a fancy bed and breakfast that takes your breath away when you pay the bill. This is a historic home that is dedicated to being a comfortable place - a homelike environment - for people to stay while in Pierre. This is not a spare room in the proprietors home. It is a big, two story old-fashioned home with high ceilings and lots of wood, etc. Not the best part, but a good part, is that the pricing is extremely reasonable. The best part for us was the overall ambiance, the comfortable beds and the food. Our host, Ron, told us just to let him know what we might like for breakfast and he'd fix it up for us - and he's a great cook. The blueberry pancakes were great, the bacon was thick and tasty and the other items he served were enjoyed by us all. We also had some great chats with Ron, who did all he could to make sure our stay was enjoyable - which it definitely was. We'll be staying here again when we get back to Pierre.

A fantastic place to stay for anyone traveling to or through Pierre. I had a work trip to the area and was thrilled to find an affordable break from the standard Best Westerns and Comfort Inns available in most towns the size of Pierre. The staff are very friendly and amendable and the house itself is gorgeous. Pierre itself was an unlikely destination for me, but thanks to the Hitching Horse Inn I was able to make the best of it! Be sure to check out the flaming fountain near the State Capitol Building.
