Food was good, environment was what you'd expect from a diner and even the service was good :)

Stopped here for some breakfast and the whole family ending up wishing that we drove on through. Service was bad, unhygienic, limited breakfast menu, and mediocre food.

My family went to the pioneer Auto museum next door and decided to stop at the GTO cafe for lunch instead of driving to find some where else to eat. Bad idea! Should've drove on! There was 2 servers. Ours was the male one and he didn't seem to care. The female seemed better, but there was not enough of them for the amount of people in the restaurant. Prices were crazy for what you got! My husband got a bacon, lettuce and tomato sand which and a salad that only had lettuce nothing else and it was $9! I got 3 chicken strip and fries for $9. My son got a cheeseburger and fries and it was only $8 and his actually looked good. I wouldn't recommend anyone wasting their time there!

Listen to the earlier reviews ... seriously! This place was horrible start to finish! They even figured out how to mess up oatmeal ... AVOID!!

Should have heeded the reviews. Short staffed and busy. Food mediocre.

The next time I am driving past Murdo, I think I will keep going. The cafe was on the low end of mediocre. I had a fish sandwich with a side salad. The fish was a chopped-and-formed patty (like a fish stick) on a 10-cent white hamburger bun. The salad was iceburg lettuce and nothing else. It wasn't terrible, exactly, although it seemed like school cafeteria food. But it definitely wasn't worth $7.95. My friend ordered chicken-chipotle chowder. That was actually pretty good. The coffee was acceptable. They sell ice cream, which I did not try. There is also an attached car-themed gift shop.

Sooooooo... Here is the problem. There are not that many places that serve food in Murdo. The menus here tell of things to do while in Murdo, and aside from the attached museum, which is worth a visit, the "attractions" start over 100 miles away. Being in Murdo for some community service work in the field of livestock preservation through reduction of the burrowing rodent population, we visited this place twice; once for dinner, and once for breakfast. Do not make this same mistake. Dinner for the Carnivore was what they call "cod fillets." I would love to see the picture of the cod that produces perfectly square fillets. They were edible. Many jokes were told, and still are being told, about this strange square fish. The mood surrounding dinner was one of general disappointment. During a visit to the attached museum, good breakfasty smells were issuing forth from the "don't go there for dinner" diner, so we tried it again for breakfast. Oops. One individual ordered hash browns that were ever so slightly customized, and nearly everyone at the table was served the altered hash browns, even though only one of us wanted them that way. We were then told the kitchen was "out of hash browns." I do not know how this is even remotely possible. I was fortunate enough to not have my hash browns ruined by this customization, but they were dry and inedible anyway. Speaking of dry and inedible, I also ordered a pancake. It was dry, and had a slight metallic taste to it. This is also a diner with no real butter, and apparently not enough of the plastic-like fake stuff. My eggs were actually done to my liking, and the bacon was adequate. Cries of "never again!" were heard after this atrocity. Here is a free tip from the Carnivore to the residents of Murdo: Open a restaurant that serves decent food for dinner and for breakfast. This place is terrible, and there are precious few options. Make this happen, and the money will flow. The GTO Cafe is a hate crime against food and the name of a great historical automobile. I wish the Judge would issue an execution order for this travesty. (Do you see what I did there?) Travelers beware!!! If you have another food option, take it. Not eating at all might be a better option.

Would give the GTO Cafe a lower rating if it was available. Subs were only available on regular bread. No lemonade, no white milk. Service took forever. Best thing about this place was the 55 Chevy on the roof.

This place gets 1 star as negative 10 is not a choice. It is nasty. People were pulling off their shoes and putting their feet on the table. Food marginal. Avoid this and travel down the road a bit further and find a cleaner place. I am not not picky at all. This place was gross.

Lunch today at GTO Cafe was very tasty. Our group had hot roast beef sandwiches with mashed potatoes and gravy... Yum, Yum. We also had a grilled cheese sandwich and a cheeseburger. The restrooms were clean, the service was excellent and the cafe was clean. We would recommend that travelers stop for a nice lunch or dinner. An antique store featuring antique autos and Elvis' Harley was attached to the cafe.

My friends and I stopped in to eat here after a long day of cross country... The waitress was not very nice. She was grouchy and not nice at all! There was a hair on the ketchup and she said that it was the least of her problems, when I told her it should be her problem she got very angry and threw the ketchup away, and also said "there now go don't have to worry about it!" .... She also let the food sit in the window for a long period of time. She also let the dinner salad sit in the window and welt. She also was complaining to the cooks about "Well these people keep on coming in!" When it wasn't very busy. She also was blaming everything on the cooks! When we asked for ice cream she said she isn't serving any because it was to busy. I'm a waitress at a Cafè and I'm 15 years of age. I can handle a busy cafe and manage the ice cream counter and still maintain my customer service. An adult should be able to do the same. If I could rate this less then a one star I would. Don't waste your time or money.

My pulled pork sandwich was wonderful. Fries are good. And our waitress was great. Prices reasonable.

Save yourself the aggravation, stay away from this place. Service was pathetic. Waited forever to place the order. Waited forever to get the food. Flagged the waitress down for salad dressing she forgot to bring. Went to the counter to ask for salad dressing and got yelled out by the staff there who just told me "ask your waitress". Absolutely no refill offered on the coffee. The food was terribly overpriced for the quality given. Basically McDonald type hamburgers at double the price. To make matter worse when going to pay at the cashier, the lady there added extra item to the bill at which point I didn't bother to argue just wanted to leave. Worst experience I had in a long time.

Hate to review a place negatively but this experience wasn't the greatest. My wife's BBQ Pulled Pork burger was ok, meat was quite tasty but bun was cold and basic whilst the cheese was standard. I had the Patty melt which actually quite tasty if not a tiny bit greasy, but I've definitely had worse. Service was quite cheery and pretty speedy including the dear old lady at the cash register. This place could easily be hit or miss. Enter at your own risk.

Stopped in Murdo to meet friends for lunch who were also travelling. The menu is what you'd expect from a diner, but the quality just isn't there. Service is sporadic but friendly. Gripes: Iced tea is the fake fountain stuff. Pizza appears to be the frozen stuff in a box. Kids menu is uninspired (as usual)

Okay service. Low quality food - salad past its prime, watery chili, cold fries, and pizza tasted like it was from a box (kids menu). Out of stock of chicken strips (kids menu) and blue cheese dressing. Meat in the Philly cheese steak sandwich, what little there was, was good.
