Place has the tightest payout in Deadwood. You want to play and have your money last go play anywhere downtown on Main. I have been coming to Deadwood for years and have been to all of the casinos several times over... Save yourself the headache

The entire staff here was amazing. We were running late the day we checked in and got a courtesy call prior to our arrival. They were even kind enough to open the gift shop for us early so we could get some items we didn't have for our son. Had dinner at the restaurant and the staff and food were excellent. Room was great, clean and very comfortable. The pool was excellent and very kid friendly. Highly recommend this place for the experience and overall value.

We love this hotel. Staff is wonderful the food is awesome the drinks are good and the pool is so kid friendly it's borderline ridiculous! We have been going here for years and have never had a bad experience!

Very nice hotel-kids loved the water park at the hotel! Hotel/Casino/Restaurant Lodge and we were very impressed with all they had to offer and the level of service-would definitely recommend this and we will be back

Very nice place. Large rooms with very nice beds. The rooms look new. The only thing to improve would be larger bathrooms and microwaves. But the place is well laid out. Refrigerators are grea for us touristst. Benchs allow you to stuff of the floor. The lobby looks like small Vegas hotel. Very easy to find coming from the North (STurgis or Spearfish) The casino has nice feel, but it was empty on Labor Day.

By far our favorite restaurant in Deadwood. I have tried many things here and keep coming back for the mozzarella stack (a take on caprese with fresh mozzarella and heirloom tomatoes--so good!). We have always had excellent, friendly service as well. Definitely a worthwhile stop!

The steak restaurant is a absolutely fantastic. Best rib eye, nice environment, friendly staff. This is the classiest joint in Deadwood.

Enjoyed it there even if it was for one night. Kids pool was great for the them. Broke even at the casino. Reasonable price and friendly staff. It's not Vegas so don't expect that. Recommended to family already. Add note- I do agree with a previous yelper. The onion rings are pretty awesome.

So amazing! This was a random choice through the "Bring Fido" App. My (newly retired) dad, my dog and I are traveling cross country from Atlanta, Ga to Santa Rosa, CA. Here at The Lodge we found no pet fees, a great price on the room, they gave us a free upgrade to a deluxe suite with private outdoor access, there's a cute designated dog walking area, food was delicious, and the staff was SUPER friendly. I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. Definitely coming back to check out the casino here and explore the area more :)

There are problems be hide the scenes with turn over of the waiting staff to the head chief. In the last three years every change made has been for the worse. Food standards and consistency are different everyday we have gone in. They fire great waitresses and replace them with young girls that don't even know the small menu and screw up the order. The management swarming around the restaurant is unnerving asking how everything? All the while still walking away hoping for an answer before they are out of ear shot. Lack luster food, service, and worst of all the management staff, this is more than my opinion. Pricey for the end result unless you enjoy buyers remorse.

Always go to the lodge for lunch or dinner when we visit Deadwood. Mostly for the onion rings which are amazing. The rest is over priced and the pickles were terrible. Casino normally has the newest machines but the are very tight. Great tourist experience but not much of a personal service feel. Hard to get runner service on the floor.

Definitely the nicest casino/hotel in Deadwood. It is much more refined and spacious than the others. Of course since the other are pretty space limited by being down on the historic main street, its hard to fault them for packing it in. However, since the Lodge is up on the hill, they've got room to play with. This place definitely reminds me of Black Hawk or Vegas much more so than any of the other places in town. Everything just seems nicer all around. The poker room is nice and quiet as well. Can't help but brag that I won the Saturday night poker tournament either!! All around fun experience and really nice place to visit. When we return to Deadwood, we'll definitely be staying here.

This place is the elite hotel/casino/lodge in the area. Very likely in the entire state. And Nebraska. Because Nebraska sux. Love Deadwood though I do, food and modern accommodations are an afterthought for most area hotels. Not the case at the Lodge where even the sports bar is tops. So go gamble your brains out and if you loose a ton, take heart that a great beer and a good burger are not far away - perhaps that will ease the sting! Of course, if you win big, they have a solid selection of top shelf to keep the party going! Ah - and get the Presidential Suite. Like the Lodge itself, it's the best in the state. And DEFINITELY better than anything in Nebraska. ...because Nebraska sux. So much. So very very much. Can one write a yelp review of an entire state? ...Hold on, I'll try.

Not many reviews here or eleswhere for this new location in Deadwood. We decided to try dinner at the Deadwood Grill. Menu was interesting with lots of great options. I had the Buffalo meatloaf and it was great. My wife had the chicken champagne and it was juicy and tasty! We both had the tomato and mozzarella salad and it was awesome! Saw the only previous review and tried the bread pudding.... It was big, hearty and sizzling hot goodness! Good service, nice themed atmosphere and great food for 40 bucks!!!! Don't be scared that it's right next to the sports bar Oggies!

My wife and I stopped in to have a beer at the sports bar (Oggie's). Since we love microbrews, we weren't hopeful that a "sports bar" would have much of a selection. Boy, were we wrong! We mentioned our love of IPA beer, and the bartender immediately brought us over three samples. Each of the IPAs were excellent. The interior decor, atmosphere, and service our first rate. We'll be back to check out the food next. Update 4 days later: the review goes from a 5 star to 4 star. We still love the beer choices, and now we've gotten to sample the food (very good). But the service wasn't what we expected. Fairly competent, but not one smile or friendly word in the 1 1/2 hours we were there (we sat/ate at the bar). The beers are also $6.50 per pint (!). Still a good place to visit, but it doesn't deserve our initial 5 star rating.

A group of friends of mine stayed here for the Deadwood Mickelson Trail Marathon 2012. The expo was held here, as well. I'm not sure how much the room rates are, but judging from the posh accomodations they had, I'm sure it was an interesting amount. The check in process was very fast and expedited, since we all wanted to do some sightseeing before the marathon. The room they got were on the second floor, which wasn't too bad, I guess. The parking lot is huge and this hotel property has an array of casino games for everyone to enjoy. The room itself was spacious, clean, and the beds were amazing. All the regular ammenities were here, so we did not have to ask for anything. The property is not in the downtown Deadwood area and you can't simply walk there. This place is centrally placed on a highway above the main drag of Deadwood and probably for good reason. They have a shuttle, if you need it and there is a dark green Deadwood Trolley service to take you wherever you need to go. My friends were happy with their choice and I probably would have chosen this property to stay here too. This is also the host hotel for the Deadwood Mickelson Trail Marathon currently. There is a restaurant on site called the Deadwood Grill, but we didn't eat there because it can get pricey. Staff was friendly and my friends indicated me hat they would stay here again, if they were in the area. The Lodge at Deadwood is one amazing place. While I did not check out the entire property, since we had to go to Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse Memorial, they do have free wifi and a business center located in the hotel wing of the property. I wasn't a fan of gambling, since I didn't want to bleed myself dry, financially. But the casino is there for those who are interested in using the machines. Overall, I would recommend this place for anyone who are in the area and need a place to crash. The prices for this hotel can get pricey, so try to book early! B+

We had big city food at Smallville prices in the Deadwood Grill. Two dinners, one the Buffalo tenderloin and the other a NY Strip special ($17!), with a bottle of wine and a shared dessert came to $80. The entrees included delicious salads, veggies and rice or potatoes. The portions were just right. We were too full for dessert but the Chocolate Oblivion looked too good to pass up, so we shared - great! It was a quiet night and we had a delightful waitress who left us alone when we were talking and chatted when we had a little time to fill. The dinner was paced beautifully. The decor is warm and quiet. The wine list has a huge price spread from $20 to $100+. We had a bottle of Columbia Crest Cab Sauv (2009 Wine Spectator winery of the year) for $20 and have seen that wine for $30 elsewhere.

Beautiful, clean room. Super comfy beds! Loved the seating area of the room. My son LOVED the water play area. I highly recommend this hotel. I only wished I could have stayed longer and actually enjoyed it! (Stay shortened to one night because of flight cancellation! :( )

Just spent last weekend here and pretty much loved everything about this place. We went up on Saturday afternoon for our companies Christmas party that evening. First thing was check in which was fast, friendly and a breeze. Next came our first visit to our room which was much nicer and bigger than we expected, oh and huge plus for me is it had a refrigerator to keep our beverages cold!! Our next stop was the club member booth to pick up our club cards I had signed us up for online. Once again very fast and friendly service and both young ladys put up with my sarcasm. Turns out the same two ladys hosted our company slot tournamnet, once again very friendly and put up with my sarcasm. Every dealer at the tables that took our money did it with a smile and once again put up with my sarcasm. One night wasn't enough for me so ended up staying Sunday night also. Got to try out the fitness room Sunday morning to attempt to sweat out the 100 or so adult beverages I consumed the night before. Fitness room didn't have much (treadmill, eliptical, and wieght machine) but it did the job. The indoor pool area was really nice and would be great for a family with kids with them. Spent prett much all day Sunday in Ogies sports bar watching football, eating, and drinking and having some laughs. Really good buffalo brisket sliders, and some pretty good beers on tap. Overall we loved this place, and was by far the closest Deadwood hotel and casino to anything in Las vegas.

Recently opened, we had the opportunity to stay here for three nights for a convention in June. Regular room rate was around $140 however if you book for a convention you must call your reservation in to get the special rate. They do not allow convention discounts online. The location of the hotel is "up the hill" from the town itself, across the street from Kevin Costner's Tatonka exhibit. There is a free shuttle bus from the hotel that leaves every 15 minutes or so to take guests downtown if they desire but the one time we did leave, we didn't linger downtown and wanted to come back to The Lodge a.s.a.p. The Hotel is very nice, great rooms... we had a 3rd floor King with a balcony which was a nice touch. It was great to be able to sit outside on our little patio and take in the wonderful views. Our room had free wi/fi with a good signal (there is a wireless connection for each floor which is nice) The room had a refrigerator and the bed was comfortable, with granite counter tops on the tables and nightstands. The furniture was a cut above average for a hotel. The bathroom had nice tile and stone work. Towels, sheets and pillows were also above standard. The people we dealt with at the front desk were very accommodating and friendly. There are two restaurants on premises. One of the highlights of my trip was a girlfriend and myself sharing a fabulous bread pudding dessert for our lunch! WOW it was fantastic! My husband and I also had breakfast which was excellent. He was really enthusiastic about his sausage and my eggs Benedict were done to perfection. Home fried potatoes too. Our dinner was okay. We ordered the smallest cut of rib eye steaks and they were overdone but they were tasty so we were able to overlook that, allowing that it was easy to overcook a thin piece of meat like that. Side dishes were imaginative. The salads were *fantastic*! The casino had "The" best games, we are slot players and really really enjoyed the new style slots that allow you to not only change the denomination, but also the entire game itself. Many of the slot machines have up to five games on them. The casino manager, Randy was a super enthusiastic host and we very much enjoyed our conversations with him. The people at the players club, the wait staff, the cage staff and dealers were all very friendly and obviously very glad to be there. I asked one of them why everyone seemed so happy and I was told 'because they had the best bosses in all of Deadwood' I guess when the good stuff starts at the top it all rolls downhill :-) We will definitely be staying here again and are already planning another trip. PS on The Bread Pudding? It includes sliced apples, blueberries and whipped cream along with a caramel sauce. YUM-O! Treat yourself!

Stayed at the lodge at Deadwood, South Dakota. First, they are pet friendly, which is a huge plus for us. The place was great. Clean rooms, comfy beds and the restaurant on site (the Deadwood Grill) was awesome. We had to order food to take to our room because we had our dog with us, but the tortilla soup, filet, and the potsticker appetizers were wonderful. This was our first time in Deadwood and we definitely will stay here again. Staff was very friendly also.

Stayed at the Lodge at Deadwood on the offseason in May 2012. The rooms were very nice, clean, comfortable, flat screen, refrigerator, coffee maker, nice decor. The rooms on the ground floor have two doors. One that exits into the hallway and one that exits outside either to the courtyard or parking lot. We had one that exited to the parking lot which was very convenient. We could walk straight to our room from the parking lot which was not a far walk. We could actually see our car from our window. They have a small casino with the newest games. They have two great places to eat although they seemed to have the same menu) We ordered a pizza late in the evening to take to our room and it was hot and tasted great. We ate in at the Deadwood Grill for breakfast and dinner and it was great both times. The service and food was excellent. It is not in the downtown Deadwood area and you cannot walk there, but they do have a shuttle if you don't want to drive. I was very happy and would definitely stay here again.

This is one of the nicest, cleanest, friendliest places we have stayed at. We love it here. Yes, it's outside of town a little, but not only do they have everything you need here, there is a shuttle or van that will take you downtown plus you can always get a cab too. The food is excellent Have three trips booked to stay here again for the next 6 months. You won't regret staying here.

This is a beautiful resort with lots of amenities however, do not pick this place intending to gamble especially at the tables. We checked in today intent on sightseeing and playing the tables but with only four different card tables running all day it was impossible to get in to our favorite table, Blackjack. When two seats opened up, I went over to sit at the one with no chips in front of it and was told the table was closed. The other seat had chips in front of it and had not been occupied for 15+ minutes. I asked the floor supervisor why the table was closed with open seats and he said the people who were sitting there had probably gone outside for a smoke. I have played at many casinos all over the U.S. and never been in a casino that "holds" seats. Needless to say we will be spending the rest of our nights sleeping here and spending our money in other casinos. Three stars for a gorgeous resort.
