Stopped in during the giant arts festival weekend. What a wonderful reprieve from the muddy, crowded event. It was nice to sit down and enjoy drinks and munchies. Four of us shared the spinach artichoke dip and two kinds of wings...garlic parmesan and bbq. Everything was very tasty and service just fine. Don't know when they renovated the women's room upstairs, but it's nice. Husband said the men's room has not yet undergone similar renovation.

Not so great. Yes this place has history but that does not make up for inconsistent (fair-ish) food quality and so-so service. I might try again in a few years but the Ram is no better than it was a few years ago, so not going to get my hopes up.

Very quaint atmosphere in downtown. Our waitress was amazing, friendly and attentive. The food was decent but probably stick to the steak or burgers as they both looked a lot better than the herbed chicken. I wouldn't necessarily drive out of my way for this place, but not a bad option if you're in the area.

Great food and great service! The food was very fresh. The boys loved the onion rings and wings. Our wraps were super tasty and I recommend the sweet fries. Perfect addition to a meal. The flatbread is great for a single serving. Would definitely come back here.

Brookings has a cute downtown and the main attraction for me was the burger place that had been featured on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives but it closed at 7:00, rats. Most of the other restaurants are basically college bars, fun for them but not for us for dinner. We ended up here with a very friendly, perky server. The restaurant has a cool history and was decorated in the late 70's and looks it. Our meals were like something we could get at a Ponderosa at home.

There is a lot of wasting of beer and money with the warm beer cooler. It's the small things that add up. It's not the name that needs to change but the business practices.

The Ram is a nice restaurant, with lots of history and ambiance; it was a bank building in years past and the subject of a heist in 1938. They have newspaper articles in the hall describing what occurred when the robbers waited 2.5 hours for the timed vaults to open. The good: the food, when it finally arrived. I had a generous serving of line-caught salmon ($16.99) with grilled carrots, broccoli & mushrooms and a delightful yeast roll with a salad to start. The raspberry vinagrette was a bottled disappointment; the vegetables were swimming in butter. Good, but nothing spectacular. My dining companions had steak which they seemed to enjoy. As it was my niece's birthday, they provided her with a brownie, but since she didn't finish her dinner, the waiter offered to box it up. That was a disappointment - part of the idea was to celebrate but at 19, she wasn't interested in being a spectacle. The building is another "good" - it's gorgeous. The bad: the wait. Holy smokes. We arrived about 6:45 and were seated maybe five minutes later... and at 8:10 we were wondering if they'd gone to shoot the cow. The place seems understaffed, as we were asked for our drink order by both the waiter and a woman who seemed to be a manager or maybe an owner. The ugly: $100 for dinner for three seemed high, especially with no alcohol involved. Three sodas, three dinners. Add a tip and that's one pricey meal. And what's with the TVs? They don't seem clear on what they're shooting for. They have a bar downstairs, but the feel of the restaurant seems more romantic and intimate... other than the TVs high in the room tuned to ESPN. Nothing worse than trying to gaze into your beloved's eyes... which are following the route of the ice skater in a tiny skirt.

The Ram and O'Hare's is okay. Entrees are overpriced and not as good as they sound in the menu. The bar food (wings, burgers, sandwiches) and appetizers are much better (I especially like the deep fried pickles). Wait service is generally good.

The Ram was exactly what we needed after a looong day of driving. The Buffalo wings were surprisingly good, and the black and blue burgers were to die for. Tasty bacon and the freshest, most delicious blue cheese dripping out of it. To top it off, instead of fries the burgers came with a side of garlic mashed potatoes. Heaven! The waitress was extremely friendly. If I had one complaint it is that the food took a long time to come out and had we been in a rush that would have been a problem. As it was, I was glad for the break.

The Ram ok. I would not drive over 20 mns to eat there again though. I think that if your in a crunch it is worth a try. They seem to serve quality meat with good portion sides. The inside is very dark which makes me wondering if they are hiding or compensating for something with the lack of light... But the free popcorn was a plus.

Great prime rib and beer. The waitress was new and dropped a personal record four dishes in front of us. It got to actually be entertaining. Good place if ya get a good waitress.
