Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

What's a cheese-hating, anti-pasta, almost vegan girl doing at an Italian restaurant?? Well, that's an excellent question, but regardless, I have to give props to Italian Garden. I ate at the Watertown location first (a couple years ago) and truly enjoyed it. Thus, when I was in Brookings this week and trying to pick a place for dinner (after having already been to my other favorites in town), I decided to splurge on some dairy products at the Italian Garden. Such a fantastic deal. Most of the pastas are ~$10 (many are less), and they come with a garlic roll and a salad. Fantastic! I decided to "go big or go home" and went with the cheesefest known as manicotti. I might have overestimated my bravery; the two pasta tubes (already stuffed with a ricotta mixture) were heavily topped with mozzarella. Whatever, I ate around it, no big deal. Kudos for the salad dressing, though--a really tasty vinaigrette. I was glad to see plenty of other customers here. I always fear for the restaurants in this location (most people tend to stick to the eateries in the main stretch of Main). Oh, and I TOTALLY agree with the other reviewer that said the food here is not over-garlicked. That's my biggest complaint at most Italian eateries, and it wasn't an issue here. Yay!

Thought we would try out the restaurant again. First thing, our bread was clearly from the night be for or just "warmed up". We then waited for an hour for our food. I had the chicken Parmesan and the chicken was ok but the sauce was watery. My husband had the spaghetti and meatballs and he said it was ok. Service was less than desirable. Could use a lot of work overall!!

Have been to this establishment three times and have been disappointed each time. The two times we stayed to eat, the food was pretty decent. However the customer service was horrible! The first time the service was fair at best as we were rushed out to make room for others waiting for tables....nothing like having your table cleared before your done eating. The second trip was a diaster; waited for over 15 minutes for a table even though there was no wait. Were told several times that someone would be around to seat us and then passed by numerous times by staff with no luck being seated. When finally shoved into the backroom we waited for nearly 20 minutes before getting menus. After watching the table next to us get their food before we got our bread & salad (they were seated about 3 minutes after we were) we swore we would never eat at this place again. Made the mistake of giving them the benefit of the doubt again tonight. After being promptly seated in the backroom once again, we waited 10 minutes without being acknowledged while 2 servers entered and left the room several times. We set the timer on our phone for 5 minutes to see if if anyone would help us..of course no one did so we left. On the way out we stopped to speak with a manager, of course none was available but the nice server said "sorry we are kind of busy"

Great food, extremely attentive service, good atmosphere. The food is served with warm seasoned rolls with dipping oil which are delicious. And the menu has a wide variety of pastas pizza, calzones, and Italian subs. I hope they stay open because I will be returning. Much better than most other places in Brookings.

Our first visit to Italian Garden, my childless wife and I came in for lunch. It was Sunday, so we came for a nice, leisurely Sunday lunch. It was the day before a long roadtrip, so we had the goin'-on-a-roadtrip-tomorrow blues. It also happened to be Mother's Day, which we didn't know because who cares. We're early diners, even for lunch, so we showed up crack early, before all the moms and their attendants arrived. First question the waiter asks my wife: "Are you a mother"? BLUUUUUUURRRRRRRGGGGGGGHH. When she said "No," politely, the waiter kinda shuffled his feet and grabbed his shoulder and acted all awkward and fidgety, I think because there was special stuff he was supposed to do for the moms - flowers or Italian candy or something, I don't know - and he was unsure whether Mrs. S. should be included for her womanliness or excluded for her childlessness. So we kind of felt weird for the rest of the meal as we looked at each other and wondered whether or not we should have kids. I tried not to let this impact my opinion of the food, but it was difficult. And yet I can report: the bread was awesome. I ate way too much of it. Nice chewy, doughy Italian-American bread, just pure fetal comfort. The salads, on the other hand, were sad. Like, victim of a terrible crime sad. "Kill me," I think I heard one of them mutter, "just kill me." The veal dish I ordered was sa-HALT-y. I mean the kind of salty that stops you dead in your tracks and you say: "I be eating some salt." Salt is added to food for a number of reasons, one of which is to enhance all the other flavors. This salt was enhancing other salt. Mrs. S. played it safe, which is her métier, and ordered a penni pasta with a basic white sauce. We were both scared to order anything with garlic because these type of places - the kind of places that decorate their walls with faux-frescos of the Tuscan countryside that look more like an especially lazy planet from "Star Trek" than the actual Tuscan countryside - tends to subscribe to the "can never do too much, five cloves you say? I put in eight just to be safe" philosophy of garlic distribution. And a creamy white sauce is less likely to be saturated with garlic. (I should note: nothing we ate was saturated with garlic. We were just erring on the side of awesome.) All in all, we were happy with our food, weird Muttertag service aside. Like I said, my salad and veal were pretty horrible, but the Missus ordered a whole meatball, which I devoured happily. I think from now on, I'll use Italian Garden as a sub shop - for when I miss east coast grinders and need a step up from Subway - and not as a date-night, sit-down dinner kinda place. That's how I justify a three-star recommendation. Good bread, good balls, good sausage, decent sauce. That's all you need for a tasty sammich, something I can enjoy just fine sans children.

We had two of the pastas that were wine based. I disliked both and I didn't like how the chicken was prepared. Disappointed. Might try it once more but doubt I'll be impressed.
