Quick update, I bought flounder today and one the fillets we made for dinner had at least 8 pin bones in it which I thankfully found. In the end I didn't finish my fillet because I was tired of picking through it looking for the bones. The fish was good, but I was disappointed to find the pin bones. I hope I didn't swallow any! Just need a little more attention to detail when cleaning the fish!

Every year we have a large party on MLK weekend, to include an oyster roast. We started buying from Sellsfish and once we did, decided to never go anywhere else again. The first few years, we ordered 800 lbs. This year was much smaller so we ordered 580 lbs. We always call at least a week in advance and our oysters are ready, fresh, clean and at great prices. I also go there for all my seafood needs as they are friendly, inexpensive and VERY knowledgeable about the products they carry and different ways to prepare them. Sellsfish is the best around!!

My husband picked up 4 dozen live blue crabs today and they were incredible!! Huge, full, and at a great price! We will definitely be back!

This was the best place to get fresh fish. I went the other day to get ceviche ingredients and they were closed down. As in-out of business. I don't know when this happened or what happened, but it's super disappointing. I was there recently, too...so this happened fast. No details on a new location or renovation or anything. Just gone. Hopefully they find a way to open back up. I know I'm a big fan that would go back.

This really is an awesome seafood market! Our first experience with fish mongers has been that of the Pacific Northwest, specifically Pike's market. While Sellsfish is not as large as Pike's, obviously, it has a great variety of seafood. The thing I really appreciate about this place is that they mark their seafood and provide details such as where it was caught and wether its local or not. Most of it seems to be local! They seem to keep their Facebook page up to date with specials including crayfish, oysters, local shrimp, etc. Oh, they have an entire ice chest full of locally caught whole fish! Additionally, they carry some market items to cook with (tarter/cocktail, fish fry, etc.). Update: Had the best scallops in the world from here!

If you are lucky enough to live in the Summerville area, then you are lucky enough to have access to some of the best inland seafood purveyors ever! The guys and gals working in this store are not only very knowledgable about their product, but you can also tell that they are passionate about everything they sell. From the Clams to the Swordfish; everything is fresh, hand selected, and never less than perfect quality. I have been in to Sellsfish at least a dozen times since moving to the area, and I have never been disappointed. One of my favorite things about this place is that if you buy a whole fish, they will expertly filet it for you, with no extra charge (although they do a have tip jar on the counter for the service). Their offerings change daily as they only sell the freshest seafood they can get off the boats. So if you wander in and do not see what you want, just ask them. They usually offer something they have, that is most comparable, to what they don't have that day. I, for one, will never buy seafood anyplace else!

Seems like a good place after my first visit. Large selection and very decent prices. Also one of the only places in the area with oysters in the offseason. Speaking of, they should have locals by now...think another trip will be in order soon. Very friendly staff, wish I had found this place earlier.

They do have nice, fresh seafood at typical prices comparable to Whole Foods and such. They are very proud of selling out of local oysters. So proud in fact they laugh at the dozens of people waiting for them even when they're 5 hours later than expected (the oysters - not the customers). When you invited 30 people to your home for an oyster roast and you're standing here listening to the "Hey, at least you know they're fresh" for the 40th time - you realize you care more about you're guests than Sellsfish cares about their customers. They will try to sell you more expensive oysters if you want to get out of there and join your party in progress. These oysters were ordered and reserved a week in advance in anticipation of the busy holiday. This was not an isolated incident related to "boat trouble" or "tide issues" since it happened several times over the last few years so shame on me for going back. No more as I'll return to Huff's Seafood or Crosby's and they'll have fresh local oysters waiting for me when they say they will. 2 stars derived from 1 star for customer service and 3 stars for Summerville availability of the same fresh fish you'll get at dozens of other local shops. You have been warned!

Great seafood and low prices. Nice family-run shop. The whole fish is the best. We were able to buy hog snapper (or hogfish). We had never heard of this fish before, but my boyfriend LOVED it. Actually, I kind of wish we didn't buy it because all I've been hearing about is hogfish and how we need to get more hogfish.... The dry-packed scallops we had were exceptional too. They will clean and scale any whole fish upon request. The store has a fishy smell, but is super clean. I will definitely be returning for some more amazing seafood.
