If you would have told me that I would be as excited as I was at a "hot dog place" I would have told you that it was crazy - true, but crazy. We stopped in at Perfectly Franks on a Friday for lunch. It was about 1:00 p.m. and the place was packed. Although not a very large restaurant, it was impeccably clean and incredibly well run, and did I mention, packed... The service system is simple. You place your order at a counter and your meal is brought to you. No one told us that there would be at least 25 people ahead of us trying to do the same thing. Be that as it may the ordering process went quickly and I camped out at a table waiting for lunch. Even with the incredible line (which continued throughout our stay there), our lunch was ready in about 5 minutes. It was awesome. Although I am certain that you can order any hot dog that you'd like, many on the menu are named after a "Frank". My "Frank Thomas" was their replica of a Chicago Dog, minus the poppy seeded roll. Relish, sauerkraut, mustard, hot peppers, mustard, celery salt and tomato slices topped the roll. Be aware too that it's not just a hot dog roll. There are just too many toppings to squeeze into a plain old hot dog roll!! The roll is much larger and easily holds your hot dog delight! My husband ordered two dogs. The Frank 'Cuda was named after the owner, Perry 'Cuda and was something to see. A dog topped with blue cheese, cole slaw, fried onion strings and chili was a decadent hot dog display. And he didn't stop there. The "Frank Morgan" was a hot dog topped with macaroni and cheese. Yes, you've read this correctly, mac 'n cheese. What appeared to be Velvetta laden mac' n cheese covered the dog and although my husband was full from his first dog, he kept on going... It was simply irresistible. We did also split an order of fries, although very good, they were somewhat lost in the mix - our lunch total - $14.00. No surprise that the line of 20 - 25 people waiting to order continued throughout our stay. It was crazy good. We have always liked Jack's Cosmic dogs but after our visit to Perfectly Frank's it's safe to say that there really is no comparison. Perfectly Franks is simply, perfect.

I had the Frank Gifford and it was good. This is a hotdog with chili, slaw and cheese sauce. I thought the chili was on the light side. I would have preferred to be able to taste my chili but it was still good. This place is obviously a local favorite for Summerville. The place is small and quaint with a very energetic staff. I can see why they were featured on the Food Channel.

So... Perfectly Franks is supposed to be a charming local place, but I just found it to be unprofessional. It was our first visit (10/10/2014) and of course we decided to take a friend there for his birthday because he was new to the area and heard good things about it as well. Should've taken him to the nearby Chick-fil-A as you always know you'll get quality service and food there. We came in pretty late on a Friday evening (about 30 minutes before it was supposed to close) and they were out of BBQ. Not a huge deal (and not surprising on a Friday night), just had to pick something else. We ordered 6 different hotdogs and 3 different sides. The cashier convinced us to do half-sized orders for the sides because she said sides are "huge" and usually serve 3-4 people. They are not. Well maybe she was telling the truth, but because the kid helping in the kitchen was eating fries and sides every time he served them up (I watched him do this for about 20 minutes) we opened up our take out order to see 6 onion rings, and a handful of fried pickles (though the full size order of Cajun Fries was fine). That was pretty disappointing, but not nearly as disappointing as the fact that they forgot to put a hot dog on the French Toast Frankie. We were all baffled that a $5 hot dog comes without a hot dog! Must've been an oversight, but not surprising considering that the place is run by teens. Normally I think it's great when establishments hire teens to teach them work ethic, but not in this case where I watched someone in the kitchen stuffing his face with the food I paid for and thinking about how if they unashamedly allow this, what other sanitary policies they choose not to follow. Even if all of our order was prepared as ordered, I would probably would still think the place is over-priced and over-rated. The mac and cheese on the Franklin Pierce tastes like KRAFT, the corn dog is nothing special, and overall the portions seem small. If you want a good hotdog, go to the food court at Costco. It's much larger, and half the price and comes with a drink. Perhaps I am being harsh, but I had read all the reviews on Yelp before I went and heard so many great things about it, so I was surprised at how bad our experience was.

The hot dog selection is great and tasty. The crowning achievement of Perfectly Franks is their sweet potato fries with blue cheese and honey. They alone are worth the trip. One thing I really wasn't a fan of was the sweet tea pork chop sandwich. There was so much sauce on my sandwich that it was falling apart after a few bites. Soggy bread and soggy sandwich does not make for an enjoyable dining experience. This place is worth a visit.

My husband and I recently went to the Charleston area for a few days. We had seen Perfectly Franks featured on food network, so we thought we would give it a try. The food was wonderful. Loved the sweet potato fries with blue cheese and honey. We enjoyed it so much, we ate there twice in the short trip. On our 2nd visit, we met the owner and enjoyed speaking with him, Very friendly staff. I highly recommend Perfectly Franks!

WARNING... after eating here your craving for a hotdog will never be sated anywhere else. My wife and I started going here when they were still in their original location in the center of old Summerville square. I actually preferred their food/service at their smaller location. My reason for this is not once did I ever receive other than an exemplary hotdog that all other hotdogs should worship. The owner Perry is a maestro at creating exciting new hotdog combinations, he is the mad scientist that can combine rather innocuous ingredients into a work of art. Ok now that I came up for air let's delve into the food shall we. Food: Since moving into a new location their menu exploded adding all kinds of exciting new options. My advice is proceed with caution, I've had their fish tacos and their bison burger and both times I wish I'd stuck with what they do best... hot dogs. Our favorite was their Chicago style hotdog (I've never disliked a hotdog, just varying degrees of awesome). They have excellent onion rings and hand cut potato chips, and french fries fried in duck fat (yes you can taste the difference) available by the half order if you're so inclined. If you aren't super hungry or you aren't sharing I recommend a half order don't make yourself another overweight American, let Mexico hold onto "most obese nation" title for as long as we can. Service: This is really my only beef with this place, since expanding they've had to hire a lot of new people so depending on who makes your dog they could have an imperfect ratio of ingredients (If you aren't spoiled like I was by the owner then this is probably a moot point). Bottom Line: Wholeheartedly recommend this place to any and everyone who lives or plans on visiting SC, definitely worth a 30 min drive. Don't get overwhelmed by the hugeness of their menu. Stick with what they do best hotdogs and sides. The reason this isn't 5 is because not everything on their menu lives up to the standard set by their infamous hotdogs and service can sometimes be less than perfect.

These are not your average ball park hotdogs with mustard and relish (although, you could order that, if you really wanted). This is blow-your-mind hotdogs. You can get macaroni and cheese ON a dog...... ON. IT. I order one with slaw, bbq sauce and crispy fried onions. It is so good. They have AWESOME veggie dogs, by the way. Which is a rarity. The place is usually packed during peak hours, which can be a little stressful, yes, but it is always worth it. Always.

I went here for lunch, not knowing it was one of the places that a famous cook from the food network had talked about. I'm not a big hot dog guy - I like mine relatively plain, but I had to try something here. I went with the Frankly Scarlett and Aretha Franklin, but with a side of french fries. Fries were mediocre, but the dogs were good to say the least. Two of them made a good lunch, with the Aretha Franklin being my favourite of the two. It had a good amount of stuff on it without being overly so. Scarlett was nice with a little kick, but very plain, just as I expected and wanted. Staff was nice and the atmosphere is good too. It cost money for water, but tasted like regular water, so I feel gypped in that regard. I would return for their good dogs and prices.

Sooooo many choices of hot dogs! The homemade chili on the Frank Gifford was my favorite! My bf's mom really liked the house made Dr Pepper BBQ sauce, too! The hot dogs were delicious, but I was the most impressed by their AMAZING french fries! These were, hands down, the best fries I have ever eaten in my life. We ordered a basket of seasoned fries, and there were not enough of the thin, crispy, perfectly seasoned buggers in that basket to make me happy. I could have eaten the whole basket and then some by myself. Do NOT skip these! The people were very friendly, and they serve Cheerwine by the bottle. What else could you ask for?? Incidentally, the restaurant was on an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives last night. I haven't seen it yet, but I would recommend that you give it a look!

Great place to get MANY different options for hot dog toppings! This restaurant has been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. We went on a Monday evening. The special was two dogs and a drink for $5.49. I ordered the Frank Morgan (topped w Mac and cheese) and the Benjamin Franklin (topped with chili and cheese sauce). My daughter ordered the chihuahua (chorizo, jalapeño, tomatillo salsa, lettuce, pepper jack and cheddar on a quesadilla). She also ordered Cajun seasoned fries. Also ordered in our group was the Franklin Pierce (topped with white BBQ sauce, bacon and crispy onions). The Frankie J had grilled ham, fresh pineapple, bacon and zesty hot sauce. French toast Frankie had Italian sausage, fried egg, bacon, maple syrup and drizzled with powdered sugar on a French toast dipped hot dog bun. So good! The Frankie Elvis had peanut butter, banana, bacon and honey. Apparently this comes together for a quite tasty treat! We loved it so much we went back for lunch the next day before flying out! The only different items ordered were the "Cuda", which had chili, cheese sauce, bleu cheese slaw. This is one Guy Fieri tried when he was there. Very good. Also can order a custom topped hot dog - I ordered one with just bacon and cheese sauce. There is more to the menu than hot dogs - sandwiches, tacos, burgers and many different grilled cheese concoctions as well. Great little place. Super friendly service!

I love places that let you experiment with all sorts of crazy toppings on things like hot dogs and hamburgers. Don't get me wrong, I like classic ingredients too, but it's fun to throw on some sauerkraut or hot cheese or (maybe not) peanut butter. Frank's has an amazingly extensive menu, full of choices. And even better, as a vegetarian, they offered a veggie dog that once you throw a bunch of toppings on tasted as good as any meat-dog. And it was a pretty cheap eat. Just plan to get a little messy!

Wow! Almost missed out on this. My wife is a gluten free eater and not many items are free of gluten here. So we turned away to go somewhere else when i was stopped on the way to the car and asked why. "There are no g-free salad dressings"! WHAT! Said the owner, he directed us back and made one of the best balsamic vinaigrettes ever for my wife. I had the Aretha franklin and Frank Lloyd! Thank goodness for Southern hospitality because they were the best! From a Boston boy i would definitely come again. Thanks again for making us stay. What a great place and owner!

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. *** Citrus pulled chicken - We made the mistake of hitting PF at 12:45 on a sunny Saturday (4-14) and after waiting in line 45 minutes we were starving!! Once we ordered (that's right. 45 minutes just to order) it was another 30+ minutes to get our food thanks to the group of 6 ahead of us. I would definitely suggest ordering ahead. The place was so packed we couldn't even get a seat. We ate in the car. After all that, I will say the citrus pulled chicken on fluffy tortillas was awesome!! Only one issue...loose some of the red cabbage. With the first 3 bites that was all I could taste. Once I removed 90% of it the flavor of the citrus chicken and the macerated grape sauce was a divine mix. It was a different combination that I really enjoyed. The beer battered onion rings were a little too beery to me. My mom had the Frank Lloyd Wright dog (kraut & mustard). She said it was ok. Will I go back? Yes. Will I order ahead? Dang right! **July 2012 update-the Citrus Chicken has been eliminated from the menu in favor of more hot dogs. I liked that they had something other than dogs. After all, it's a hot dog. How can you mess up a dog? Best hotdogs in town, but I usually find myself ordering other things. I love the BBQ tacos, The PF burger is also great. My favorite its probably the BBQ melt (BBQ sandwich topped with mac n cheese) its awesome. Lots of seating, but almost always a line. It is well worth it though!

Definitely the best hot dogs on the entire planet. I've tried about 20 different dogs now and I love them all. From the simple ones to the crazy ones that even have shrimp on them, this is a great place to grab a dog. Monday is even better, making two dogs and a drink just 5.99. Military gets free drinks, and be sure to try the sweet tea.

We've walked past this place for years and finally decided to give it a try...I'm glad we did! My husband, aptly named Frank, ordered the Frankie Luv (sweet BBQ sauce, slaw and crispy onions). I had the Frankie J (grilled ham, crispy bacon, sweet spicy sauce, onions and pineapple). Both were divine. I was thrilled that they had Peach Nehi, a favorite from childhood. We shared a basket of fries and weren't able to eat half of them. Our toddler son had a plain hot dog, which he promptly demolished. There are many more hot dogs and other items on the menu that we look forward to trying. The staff was young, helpful and very friendly. The young man working the counter kept the restaurant spotless. We were very happy with our first experience here and would definitely recommend it to any hot dog fan.

My wife and I showed up at 8:20, just 10 minutes before closing. An accident on I-26 had held us up - we were driving all the way from Johns Island just to try this place. Despite our coming through the door at the last possible moment, the wait staff were all very friendly and let us take our time absorbing the menu. I got two Frank Coney dogs (chili, mustard,onions), my wife got a Frank Morgan (mac & cheese) and a Franklin's Tower (cream cheese, bacon, onions), and we shared a basket of fries. We both loved our dogs and the fires were very tasty. Although the staff made no attempts to rush us out the door, we both felt a little guilty about being there after closing so we did rush ourselves a bit. Next time we'll plan better and arrive in time to sit back and savor every bite. We certainly felt sorry for the group of soldiers we ran into while leaving who arrived even later than us - they had very sad faces when they saw it was already closed.

I've never been a fan of hot dogs, but if you deep fry them, cover them in chili, top them with deep fried bacon, blue-cheese cole slaw and fried onions then you've got my full attention. Order the onion rings you will not be disappointed. Sweet tea is awesome, even when they marinated their pork chops in it. Updated. After a few more visits I've noticed that the kids corn dogs have shrunk and the fruit offering for the kids is quite small in portion size.

We never knew about this place but saw the reviews on Yelp. I had a Frank Cuda Hot dog which was fabulous. I think I want to come here again! We had the sweet potato fries and didn't think honey went with them but they sure do! Next time we're in Charleston, we will come back! Fun environment. Really nice friendly service.

Excellent selection of hot dogs. Wide assortment of soft drinks in glass bottles. The best sweet tea I have ever had at a restaurant. The fresh-cut fries are good. There should be a maple butter option for dipping the sweet potato fries. I do not recommend the French Toast frank: sausage was too fennel-y and the bun was not cooked long enough. Service was very friendly and fast. There was a line, but it moved quickly. We waited minimally for our food.

Wanting to explore Summerville over the Memorial Day holiday we stopped into PF's to see if we could get a couple of Hot Dogs with sauerkraut and mustard and a batch of fries. What a pleasant surprise. To be Perfectly Frank, this place Rocks. Families , golfers, neighbors, seniors and travelers were all enjoying the extensive menu and the many varieties of Franks and more. Super helpful wait staff and fast service. The Franks were excellent with that perfect snap when you take a bite and the fries were delicious. Can't wait to get back there and try some of their other menu items. Take your time and look over this menu then Choose Wisely my friend. You will not be disappointed. The Best!

Amazing hot dogs. I drool just thinking about them. Skip the fries and eat more hot dogs. If I had to give one piece of advice to the restaurant, I would say smaller buns. I found them overwhelming- too much bread, when really it's just a holder for the toppings and hot dogs. But it wasn't annoying enough for them to lose a 5 star rating. Try the Frank Lloyd Wright :)

If you want indulgent, this is the place to go. Once a little shack down the road, PerfectlyFranks moved into the old karate studio and dishes up crazy, never-thought-up before hot dog dishes. I saw them on Food Network but didn't order what they showed as their signature dishes. The Bama and the Elvis are to die for. Total opposite sides of the taste spectrum, but I like the two of them together. The Bama consists of a Nathan's hotdog with chili and blue cheese coleslaw. The Elvis is the hotdog, banana, melted peanut butter and honey drizzle, and bacon pieces. Absolute heaven. Place is always crowded but the line moves fast. I don't always get the impression that the person taking your order is loving life, but whatever. Perfectly Franks is a must-eat while in Summerville.

Since I last wrote my review complaining about the frank zappa veggie dog option they have brought back the soy dog!!! This is exciting! Now you have the option between soy and carrot dog. So I'm a total soy dog lover, but the carot dog is a good option for the vegetarians who dislike the meaty taste of soy dog. They have great customer service. Very happy to have the soy dogs back!

This place is damn good! Nice surrounding. TVs on the wall. Very laid back. Tons of southern style soda-rc, cheerwine. Even had cheerwine in the drink dispenser. Girlfriend had the bison burger and sweet potato fries. Awesome! The sweet potatoes had sugar on them and the bison Burger had some type of seasoning/gravy on it. I had regular fries and the Perry cuda dog and a coney dog. Both were good but liked the coney dog better. Fries are good to go. Thin cut. Almost as good as "haute dog" in Alexandria, va.

I love perfectly Franks. Only problem is the stuff they put on the hotdogs is bigger than the tiny hotdog they put on the bun. They are great hotdogs I just wish they had bigger ones. The only one I didn't care for was the pimento dog. There was just way to much and way to cheesy. I had to rake the topping off.

We went to Perfectly Frank's in Summerville. This large hot dog diner was started by Perry Cuda in honor of his grandfather who was an Italian immigrant and opened a hot dog counter in Pittsburgh to support his family. It is a large diner with a walk-up counter for ordering and young people who bring your food to the table. The walls are decorated with cute signs and paintings from Bottles and Brushes, which is next door. Perfectly Frank's apparently was featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. Based on my experience at Jack's Cosmic Dogs, I think that Guy Fieri has better taste in hot dogs than Alton Brown. There are twenty-seven different dogs on the menu as well as several sammies, local favorites, fish tacos, a salad and "extras." DH ordered the Aretha Franklin, which is a hot dog topped with smoky pulled pork, barbeque sauce, coleslaw and crispy onion bits. The dogs are average size, but they are piping hot and have a snappy casing. The sesame seeds buns are warm, and the toppings are loaded on. The pork was very tender and had a distinctive smokiness to it. DH loved his dog. I ordered the Frank Cuda without cheese - it was topped with chili, blue cheese slaw with chopped bacon and crispy onions bit. Wow! What a great dog. I did prefer the cinnamon spiked chili at Jack's, but this chili delicious and far more traditional, with a strong chili powder flavor and lots of meat. The blue cheese slaw was creamy and crisp with big hunks of cheese, and it was complimented by the salty crunch of the bacon bits. The crunchy onions on top were another excellent texture and brought a little sweetness (as had the blue cheese). Delicious! DH and our friends shared the homemade chips, which they loved. I ordered a basket of sweet potato French fries to share with the table, which were some of the best that I have ever had. They tasted very fresh, and they were served piping hot. The fries were crispy and seasoned - I absolutely devoured them. The service here is also wonderful.

This is a gift from the Heaven's of Summerville. The macaroni and cheese hot dog is heavenly. This is a place that you must stop if you have the tiniest amount of space in your belly. With one bite of the weiner your heart will beat rapidly and you will be reminded of your first kiss. LOVE IT.

My wife and I went here a few weeks ago for a quick lunch to go. We were pleased that there was a new menu. We ordered the mahi taco, the sweet potato fries, and the bbq pork sandwich and two drinks. My first shock was the total bill. It was over $26, which to me, is high for a lunch for two. The tacos were ok, with just the fish, some shredded red cabbage, and a sauce. It was tasty, but overpriced. The freezer to fryer sweet potato fries had waaaaay too much honey, but the serving size was enormous, which is irrelevant at this point. The BBQ was was just ok as well. My wife and I would probably go back, but would make more wise menu choices or maybe ask for a sample taste ahead of time. Billy is a great chef, but I'm disappointed with that visit.

We saw this place on the show Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives and decided to check it out. We went on a sat for lunch and the line was out the door!!! Hubs got the Aretha Franklin (dog, bbq sauce, fried onions strings, pulled pork, and cold slaw) he RAVED!!! And he is not a hot dog fan, by any accounts. I had the Benjamin Franklin (good ol chili cheese dog) it was good. Fries were fresh and yummy!! Def want to try the onion rings next time.....I would recommend, but remember these are dogs, not a five star restaurant.

I saw this place featured on the Food Network and had to try it. The customer service right from the start was good. We ordered our food and waited about 5 minutes and it was ready. I started out with my fries. I noticed that they were not fresh and seemed as if they had been sitting out awhile before they served them. But I was hungry so I smashed them anyway. Then I went to my hotdog. I ordered the Frank Morgan and like my fries, it tasted mediocre. The bun and the Mac-N-Cheese were barley even warm. The hotdog wasn't packing the kind of flavor I expected since reading all the reviews and seeing this place on tv. So I hate to be the odd man out but Perfectly Frank's did not blow my socks off. I honestly think I can make a better hotdog and fries at my house. To their credit the customer service and the selction of many types of hotdog are impressive. This place is average to me and not worth all the hype!

On Saturday mornings, make sure to stop by the Summerville Farmer's Market on W. Doty Ave off Main St in Summerville. Pick up farm fresh fruits and vegetables, and other neat crafts. But hang around until 11am and wait in line at Perfectly Franks to get your gourmet hot dog, taco or burger. I must admit I can't remember the last time I ate a hot dog. I've always enjoyed mine with sauerkraut, mustard and mozzarella cheese. It's something from my childhood that Dad got us hooked on after he returned from Germany. You'll be impressed by Perfectly Franks's assortment of dog arrangements including toppings such as pimento cheese, pineapple, cream cheese, blue cheese coleslaw, Dr. Pepper BBQ sauce and fried onions. I recommend the "Franky Luv"-coleslaw, Dr. P BBQ sauce, and fried onions, the "Aretha Franklin"-pulled pork, BBQ sauce,slaw and fried onions or the Frank Cuda (aka Bama)-chili, cheese, blue cheese coleslaw, bacon and fried onions. I can't speak for the burgers but I heard more than once that the "Big Squeeze" is pretty tasty. Don't forget to get a side of sweet potato fries (enough for 2 to share) or home made fries with sea salt and vinegar or chili or cheese. There are 2 small tables inside and a few outside patio tables so plan to have a seat on the curb if the tables are taken. It's worth it! Perfectly Franks is a family tradition since 1895. Labor Day weekend lunch quest for a hot dog lead us to visit Perfectly Frank's a third time. Neither of the other visits concluded with overwhelming satisfaction - the line to order was long, the seating was crowded and metal tables/ chairs had a wobble, and price was a bit high for the quality and quantity. Yet, finding ourselves downtown Summerville and hungery, we tried it again. Same problems plus a long wait for food delivery, my bun was cold, and companion's fries "not good." Planning to try the nearby drug store soda shop next time.

"Pdogs" is dead and buried but fortunately for us, Perfectly Frank's is the Phoenix that rose from it's ashes. So far as I can tell it's just a new name - staff looks almost identical, menu is almost the same, minus a few improvements. * Looks like they pared the dog list down to 26. lowered prices (unbelievably) on most, too. My taste adventure on this trip was the "legare" (pronounced la-gree, to all the non-Charlestonians. Learn it, because many things down here have that name.) The dog is comprised of smoked sausage with a sweet-ish cocktail sauce, grilled shrimp, and a sweet corn relish. It was awesome!!! Felt like I took a little piece of the lowcountry and shoved it in my face. * I'll give you a tip on ordering the sweet potato fries. If they're busy, sometimes they don't drain them as well, and sweet potatos seem to be a bit more likely to go spongy than regular pots. So if they are busy when you are there, maybe ask if they can be more on the crispy side. I'm somewhat indifferent but know "crispiness" of fries is important. Option now for bleu cheese crumbles on the sweet potato fries for an extra 20 cents. They're probably not profiting on the bleu itself because the portioning was very generous, but it sure made the difference in me ordering. Genius... * 5 different kinds of tacos - grouper, shrimp, pulled pork, veggies, and grilled tuna. I had what was essentially the bbq pork back when it was on a daily special as a sandwich and it was great. Ingredients in each of these tacos are intriguing to the nth degree and leave me wanting to come back again. I'll give you a teaser. The grouper has citrus cabbage, avocado-lime aioli and fresh fruit salsa. The others go along these same lines. Feel like I'm not in Summerville for a second (oh no he didn't...) * couple good-looking salads * several very unique burgers. Bison, anyone? The "big squeeze" looks like a cheese-lovers paradise. A person would be completely insane or a masochist to know Perfectly Frank's exists and to not stop in. It's right next to where the Summerville farmer's market is so that would be in my estimation, a perfect Saturday morning. Great for lunch too because it's fast, cheap, and something you will not find anywhere else in the Charleston Metro (even Jack's cosmic dogs).

I moved away from Charleston, SC and when I want a good hotdog I always think of this place. Looks like Matt beat me to this one, but I concur with his review of Frank's. Very nice little shop, off the main town center, if you don't know where it is, you might miss it. They only had two tables inside, but anymore would make it ridiculously crowded. They did have 4 or 5 more tables out side though. Service is very prompt and friendly. You can tell the regulars there, because the cooks and servers know their names and what they want. Prices weren't too bad either, especially for a "gourmet" hot dog place. I put this up there with Cosmic Jacks, if not a little better, due to convenience for me. If I had to choose between the two, I might take this place though. Their fries are much better and more to eat too. Also, their Guinness soaked onion rings were awesome! The boss lady had 2 shrimp tacos, which were very good too. You can't really screw up a shrimp taco, but these were pretty good at any rate. I made the mistake of getting two hot dogs, because I didn't realize how big they were. Definitely stop by if your in Scummerville... or anywhere within 50 miles.

Poor customer service, which could be called racist. I was in the establishment looking at the menu where you place an order with no assistance, two workers looking at me continuing to work in the grill area then when a white person can in later after me, the worker immediately came to the register, where I was standing and waiting on the customer behind, without even acknowledging my presence. This place used to never disappoint. Not sure what had happened but the past few times I've been there something was not up to par. Rotten fruit, frozen fruit, Mac and cheese for kids is such a hit or miss. And the hot dogs look pretty pitiful. Like I said, used to love this place but not worth it anymore... Eating my way through Charleston - Part 10 The last stop on our journey was a great hot dog joint called Perfectly Franks. Every hot dog on the menu is named after someone "frank" and the choices are plentiful. I got the Aretha Franklin (pulled pork, cole slaw, bbq sauce, onion strings), the Franklin's Tower (bacon, cream cheese, grilled onions), the Frankie "Elvis" (peanut butter, honey, grilled bananas, bacon), and beer battered onion rings. The Aretha Franklin was delicious but felt like the safest bet on the table, the Frankie "Elvis" was way better than I would have expected a hot dog covered in peanut butter could be, but the best hot dog at the table was Franklin's Tower. I was skeptical about the cream cheese and hot dog flavor combination but when paired with the grilled onions and bacon it blended together to create one of the best hot dogs I have ever come across. After visiting 10 restaurants in two days we were pretty well stuffed and it was time to head back to the QC. With little man strapped in the back seat, my lady to my right, and a full tank of gas, we made our way back to Charlotte and our Charleston Restaurant Hopping vacation was officially over.

Went here Saturday for the second time with my wife and son. Dogs were good but the fries were terrible, they weren't even cooked. Then I noticed the deli paper had this seasoning which looked like it was on someone's fingers cuz my frys sure didn't have any seasoning. It looked to be like Lawrys or something similar. Anyway We did eat them even though they were raw. I was hungry as was he and know those frys were fine to eat, just not cooked all the way. Then when I got to bottom I noticed some seasoning and like 10 frys coated with the seasoning. They were raw as well which leads me to believe they were the same batch or the fry cook needs a timer. Dogs are fine but frys kill the experience. I'll let that fry guy get a little better before I return.

A great little hot dog place! The giant assortment of hot dog concoctions to chose from is almost overwhelming! The good old corn dog is my favorite though. A must try: sweet potato fries with a side of ranch! My kids even love them! Prices are very reasonable too! My boys love this place, but there are only a few tables suitable for little ones (like our 3 year old), because others have tall stools. Parking spots are also scarce once a crowd rolls in! Having enjoyed Hot Dogs from Nathan's original on Coney Island, Katz Deli and more on the go Sabrett dirty water dogs from corner vendors that I can recount. All uniquely interesting classics from NYC whose inhabitants don't take their Frank's lightly. Perfectly Frank's on the inside is like the Willie Wanka of this fourty something (southern end) factory and grounds. Even when line is long, the wait never seems to be and I'm quite happy and relaxed within the walls of this busy hotdog-aria. Previous reviewers have already described their hot diggity dog diggity dishes and their obvious enjoyment quite well, so I'll spare you my specific orders taste intricacies as I don't think I can add much more. The fresh cut toppings that adorn the kitchens output are bursting with flavor and color freshness. The side dishes have me thinking Perfectly Franks is a hybrid of a 1950's drive in hotdogs meets 2010+ topping options and techniques. Taking an Americann classic and not defiling it with low quality, low options toppings. Instead raising the American hotdog to possibly the highest flavor level and keeping the unspoken holistoey of the Flfrank alive.

The Frank Cuda is really good, I like the mix of crunchy fried onions and the blue cheese coleslaw mix. The seasoned fries came out hot and fresh but I thought they lacked seasoning, at least compared to what I was hoping for in "seasoned fries." The service here is surprisingly good. We had at least two workers genuinely ask how everything was in the 20 minutes we were there. This is a great place for a fairly quick bite to eat at a really affordable price in a relaxed setting if you're out in the Summerville area!

I think Perfectly Franks is a perfectly fine land of hot dogs and loaded french fries. I do, however, think my experience suffered a bit from too much hype. But first, I have to say, the service was wonderful! It's a very straightforward ordering system. Walk in door, receive menu. Wait in line, place order. Find a seat, wait for food to come to you.... Easy peasy. All of the employees I interacted with were very nice and as helpful as possible! I can't stress enough that my 3 stars is in no way a negative reflection of the people who work here! Also, the toppings on their items are inventive and delicious. I ordered the jalepeno popper inspired offering with perfectly fried jalapeno slices, real bacon bits, and a generous slather of cream cheese on a wonderfully tasty bun. Each bit was a wonderful explosion of fried, jalapeno flavored, bacon-tastic, cream cheesy goodness. Unfortunately it was buried deep down in the midst of this popper-splosion that I eventually found the cooked through but a bit shriveled and pruney skined hot dog. The hot dog itself wasn't dry but certainly not a plump juicy hot dog that all the hype had me imagining. Lastly, my fries were a little disappointing but for that I do partially blame myself. The size was impressive (and shocking). If you're ordering for one or two people, I do recommend asking about their half size because a full size was definitely enough to compliment three hot dog orders. Also, I highly recommend getting anything on top of the fries. I ordered a plain, seasoned basket expecting a pile of simple, salted, golden fries. What I received was deeply darkly er "golden" strings of potatoes, fried and salted but yearning for something more. As a compliment to their chili and cheese, these fries are great but certainly not, in my french fry snobby opinion, all that great on their own. The onion rings, however, were pretty decent. But full disclosure, I'm really not a fan of onion rings or battered fried onions as a whole so when I compliment an establishment's fried onions, that usually means fried onion ring lovers would likely be rejoicing. Overall I'd definitely love to eat here again. The staff is amazing! Also, the toppings really do shine and the buns are soft and fluffy and just wonderful. But considering this place is a restaurant that's really mostly about their hot dogs, I'm hoping I just stopped by on an off day and that the hot dogs are usually perfectly cooked, smooth (not pruney!!), and juicy.

I've been here twice, and each time has been very good. The waitstaff are very friendly. The hot dogs are great, and the choices are interesting. I go with the Frank Coney- a traditional dog with mustard, chili and onions. This time, I also went with the Franklin Pierce which had a white BBQ sauce, crispy onions and bacon. My wife and I also split an order of sweet potato fries. What's keeping this place from 5 stars? The fries we got were far too salty. I would prefer my sweet potato fries without salt, and I didn't specify, but normally places wouldn't put that much salt on fries anyways. Maybe I got a fluke batch. Also the wait is always really long. Sure you can attribute it to this place being on TV, and famous for that. But it is more likely due to the antiquated paper ordering system, the handed out menus (vs a larger one to while waiting in line). The plus side to waiting though, I feel like if everyone in line had there order taken as rapidly as they could this place would quickly run out of seats, and you'd be forced to complain on Yelp about a lack of seating. Pick your poison! If you are looking for something great and unique to try in Summerville, try Perfectly Franks!

Absolutely the best hot dog I've ever had. I ordered the Frank Morgan, an all beef frank topped with gloriously cheesy mac and cheese. Not only was I blessed with a juicy, plump hot dog, it was covered in liquid gold mac and cheese. It was like my childhood dream sitting in front of me. You'd miss this place if you were just driving thru, but the inside is really cute and kind of kitschy, but it had a great vibe and friendly staff. Perfectly Franks is definitely your hot dog go-to out in the Summerville area. They serve up an expansive number of unique dogs (more so the toppings) that surely anyone could like...as long as they eat hot dogs. First off, they have a pretty large, open seating area that is great for groups. (This is very much in contrast to the original locale that might have held a couple handfuls of people-it was interesting though!) The dogs themselves here are ok...nothing special from what I could tell, average size and taste, but the toppings are where it's at. I've been here a couple of times (and the old location as well) and of all the dogs I've tried, all have been a treat. The Frank Thomas (classic Chicago style), the Frank Bruno (pimento cheese), and I've had another...(maybe the Sinatra) and they were all as or above what I expected. However, the French Toast Frankie (French toast bread/bun containing a sausage doused with maple syrup and topped with a fried egg) was a thing of beauty. I left hurting. As a plus, PF was featured on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives with Guy Fieri, and they take pride in that, so this place can get busy in a hurry. I've never had too much of a problem getting in or parking (be warned-do not go mid-day on Saturdays...think Little League Baseball hot spot). There is usually ample space with both. Overall, a great place for a good (I didn't say healthy) lunch if you are a hot dog fan!

The absolute best hot dogs in town. Period. Their hot dogs are fried and you can get just about anything on them. I love customizing my own dogs, but their specialty dogs are fantastic too! Being a fan of a simple original beef frank with just ketchup and mustard, I've always been skeptical of trying new hotdogs with random toppings. Like peanut butter, and honey?.. I went there and ordered the usual of what I like, just ketchup and mustard, while my husband ordered this one covered in peanut butter and honey... My face was like "what..." This place is one of the few places that manage to live up to the hype after "diners, drive ins and dives" pays a visit. We got the Cuda, Franky J, corn dog, and sweet potatoe fries. The hot dogs were both great and the fries were among the best I've had. Our total was only 17.50!!!!! It's a locals spot, family spot, and we'll be back for sure to try more creative hot dog combos.

All of the hot dogs are phenomenal; you really can't go wrong. I do wish they had more beverage options, such as beer.

Still the best Hot Dog and much more ! Recently I have been selling homes at a good pace in the Summerville area and take a break to take clients to lunch. Always stop in PF and clients really enjoy everything. As much as I love the Frankie Valli, I will say to be hooked on the Bison Burger on Sourdough Bread. Clients also seem to like the Fish Taco's so it's not all Hot Dog. Sweet P fry's and Beer Batter Onion rings always I hit. Service from staff always great.

Ventured off the hot dog menu - tried the hamburger. I designed my own - I was in a blue cheese mood so I had blue cheese and onion. It was pretty dang good. They make them with 2 slices of meat and one of my slices was slightly undercooked but it was still dripping good!

Stopped in for a quick late lunch at 4PM. Didn't take my reading classes in and not able to read the packed double sided 18 x 24" laminated menu I just order a traditional hot dog mustard and chili. My only emphises was is this a large dog or one of those skinny nothing dogs. The teen told me, its a big Nathon's dog......after paying 3.50 for the dog it only took a minute or so to find the little dog on the bun that could have accommodated about 3 more dogs with a drizzle of the forgotten cinnamon favored chili. I might score this place as the Cicis of hot dog joint.

While journeying through my Summerville Food Expedition, I stumbled upon what I thought was a hidden jewel in the heart of Summerville, only to discover that it has been featured on DDD! How could I have missed this on one of my favorite shows? When I realized this, I was like a kid in a candy shop. They use Nathan's Beef dogs and they fry'em up right, toast the bun, and go crazy. I had over 40 different choices of how to top my frank, and they all looked foodgasmic! When I lived in town, I would go on Mondays, because they had a $5.99 two dog and a drink special and try something different every time. I have tried the Frank Morgan (topped with lots of mac'n cheese), Aretha Franklin (pulled pork, bbq sauce, homemade slaw, and crispy onions), Frankie J (bacon, grilled ham, pineapple, and some kind of creamy hot sauce), Frank Chorizo (pepperjack cheese, chorizo sausage, and scrambled eggs), and the Frankie Cheese Steak (basically a cheese steak with a hot dog in it). Every one of them was savory and delicious. Deep frying the dogs made them slightly crisp on the outside, and sealed in all the juicy flavor on the inside. The toppings all went together well to create a diverse flavor explosion. I'm looking forward to going back and trying some of the more extreme combinations, like the Frankie Elvis with bananas, peanut butter, and honey, or the Frankie B with another interesting combination of toppings. If you're in Summerville, check it out! You'll than me later. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a thirty minute drive to Summerville to do just that. EXTRA, EXTRA, READ ALL ABOUT IT!!! I've got an update, so brace yourself. It gets better! Wen't back to try a few more dogs, and BOOM! New favorite hotdog, but I'll save the best for last. Right now, I have to touch on the signature Frankie Cuda. Lets just say bring a bib. It is messy, but damn is it good! There is no need for me to go into the small details. Just go on their website and watch the DDD video. You get to see exactly what goes into this masterpiece, and when you know all the facts, psychology kicks in and it tastes that much better! Now for the grand finale... the Frankie B! It's more like a dessert dog for me because of the sweetness, but it still tops my dog tower. This delicious dog has grilled bologna, melted cheddar cheese, strawberry preserves, and Bacon Mayo! Holy hot dog. This thing was amazing! Everything went together excellently, giving it a sweet, salty, cheesy, meaty, fruity, ooey gooey crispy crunchy combination as if it were gifted to man by the hands of God himself.

I'm going to be FRANK. This place is unbelievable!! I ate four dogs!! The Elvis is out of this world!!! But my favorite is the GREEK!!! The staff is great!!! Friendly, enthusiastic, you can tell they enjoy what they do!! The owner will make you feel Iike you are part of the family!! We have been going to Perfectly Franks for years , we won't be going back after today . Waited in line for 30min . That's to be expected there on a Saturday but we noticed that many people were waiting for food . They were taking orders but the food wasn't coming out ! After ordering our food we finally found a seat and waited another 30 minutes for the food to come out ! They have gotten way lost in their fame . Under staffed is a under statement . Now I could have delt with all of that because we like their food . Not Today ! After all that wait . The dogs were shriveled up nothing's in a soggy bun . Fries came out cold, nothing had flavor ! What happened to this place . Hey owner ! Get it together ! I watched several people leave unhappy today . Not a lot of ringing .

This Food network featured restaurant has the best hotdogs I've ever come across. Fresh cut fries (including sweet potatoes) as well as a delicious bison burger. The bison burger and Aretha Franklin dog are my favorites. The Aretha Franklin has pulled pork BBQ , slaw and French fried onions on it.... Superb! They have almost any fathomable combination for hotdog toppings. And even have done old fashioned sodas in glass bottles. Enjoy!

We always try to stop here when we come to Summerville. A unique menu of hotdogs and burgers any way imaginable, cheerful and helpful wait staff, and a small town diner atmosphere--not to mention their super affordable prices, keep us coming back!

Awesome unexpected decor and ambiance! I ordered the Blackened Grouper Ruben which was awesome- tangy spicy and My official slaw from now on is their Bleu Cheese slaw. We also ordered one order of fries which was enuf to feed all three of us with some left over. We left with full bellies and smiles on our faces. Next down that way will definitely be a stopping point.

I dream of this place when I visit my mom in Summerville. Truly....truly the most remarkable hot dog place I have ever been to....and I have been to a LOT. Just about anything you could want on a dog is there. and so many pre-determined types. They make some giant po boys too. HIGHLY recommended. The only better dog I have had was a Sonora Dog in Tucson/Mexico.

A friend of mine is here visiting and she told us that Perfectly Franks was on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives so we definitely had to go! From the second we got there this place looked amazing and it only got better when we walked in! The place was way bigger than expected and had a really neat atmosphere. There were tons of menu options with really unique franks :P and cheap prices is always a plus! Definitely going again!

We were looking for a place to get a quick bite before a movie the other night, so I pulled up my Yelp app and found Perfectly Franks. It said that they closed at 8:30 and it was almost 8:20. We pulled in to the parking lot and ventured inside. I have to say, I was very pleased that no only did they not give us a hard time about ordering 10 minuted before they closed, but they were really, really friendly. The hubby asked for a recommendation and the girl behind the counter immediately suggested the Frank Cuda, so he ordered it. He then asked for another recommendation and she told him again immediately the Aretha Franklin. This is something to note, we really appreciate when restaurant staff actually know their food and can give good solid recommendations rather than being clueless. I order the Frank Bruno and a plain dog with onions and relish cause I'm boring like that. We also ordered some Guinness battered onion rings and an order of mahi tacos. We were not disappointed! Both our dogs were awesome, with the hubs really really digging the Frank Cuda, loving the blue cheese slaw. He said it was even better than the slaw at Jack's Cosmic Dogs which is really saying something. I think next time I will be more adventurous, but I really enjoyed my dogs, especially the Bruno, topped with their homemade pimiento cheese. Neither of us really cared for the onion rings. They didn't taste bad, we just didn't really like them. I think they tasted a little bland, but were improved with the spicy ranch they were served with. I think they would have tasted better if they were made with a regular pilsner beer than Guinness, but thats just my opinion. The Mahi tacos were pretty good too, with my better half liking them a bit more than I did. I took away one star because we saw several patches of black mold on the ceiling tiles which is NOT GOOD. The restaurant itself was relatively clean, but seeing those tiles was concerning to us. Hopefully they address this soon...and can earn that last star.

We have been going to perfectly franks for a long time and it's always been very good. I went their last Saturday and ordered my usual, the chihuahua dog and fries. Much to my disappointment, after waiting almost 30 minutes for it, it was shriveled and not much flavor. I don't get to go their as much as I like because of my work schedule. I hate to admit it but I got a better hotdog from the handy mart in Macedonia SC the weekend before. Not sure what's going on guys, but you have to do better than this.

When is a brat not a brat? When you order one at Frank's. What I recieveded was an overgrown hotdog that wasn't HOT! It was not a brat! My wife ordered a chili dog that also wasn't hot and the "chili" wasn't even as thick as ketchup. It appeared to be reheated several times too often, it was just runny juice. The kitchen staff seemed to be more intent on having a good time than putting out a good product. We were there 7/22/14 and probably won't go back. Putting poorly prepared products on a hotdog doesn't make anything"perfect". After the great review on the Food Network's Dinners Drive ins and Dives, this was disappointing at best.

Bread and toppings good, but not enough oysters and they tasted like "food service quality." We passed a fresh seafood place on the way here bragging fresh oysters, and that got me all pumped for the po boy. It wasn't expensive, but I'd rather pay a couple bucks more and get plenty of fresh oysters. I asked the staff where the oysters came from, and nobody knew (this is a truly BAD SIGN when ordering seafood) - one guy came out and said the thought they were from North Carolina. So I went with it, and was sorry - the sweet-tea marinated pork chop sandwich last time was delicious and I wish I'd had that - or a dog. The dogs were good (I tasted hers) and the Guiness battered onion rings were excellent - she thought they tasted too much like beer, but that's what made it excellent to me. There was something overcooked in the Franklin's Tower - thought I was gonna break a tooth on fried onion or something. Staff friendly - love the moustache mirror in the gent's room. It does smell a bit back there, like a broken sewage pipe or something (both times I've been), but the restroom was clean. She said: This was our second trip to Perfectly Frank's. I ordered two hot dogs (knowing the hubby would take a "bite")...the Franco Columbu and the Franklin's Tower. The bun was very nice, but the toppings on the hot dogs were so few that they were dwarfed in the sandwich. It was mostly bread. This is not consistent with the hot dogs we received the last time we were here, which were excellent! I think today must just have been a fluke. I've had beer-battered onion rings many times and loved them. I'm pretty sure you needed to be 21 to buy these, though. These just had WAY too much beer flavor for me. If you like a strong stout, maybe you'll like these. I'll take my wimpy pale ale instead. LOL

The hotdogs are all named after famous Frank's and are what I consider to be "homemade". They have awesome fries and even have Cheerwine, my personal favorite. The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is great and welcoming. Nice and clean, and in a great location. Parking might be a problem, there is a very small lot in front, and another very small lot in back.

Alright, finally getting around to reviewing this place. Still not sure what to say other than that I love it. Can't decide what you want for dinner? You and your buddies want completely different things for lunch? Go to Franks and get it on a hot dog. They seriously have anything you could imagine on a hot dog. And they don't just do it as a gimmick, these are good combos with good quality ingredients. Everything here is good and there is so much of it so I'm not going to go in depth talking about all the different stuff. Just find something that sounds good or interesting, and it won't disappoint. Except the sweet tea, it always tastes funny. Get a coke in a glass bottle, way more fun. Gotta love the price at this place too, nothing is too expensive and they are always having some kind of special deal for insanely cheap. Love it.

The food here has been delicious every time I have gone, the only reason I can't give it 5 stars is that we don't get to eat here often. As amazing as their franks are ... There is not a hotdog on planet Earth that is worth waiting 30 mins or more for and every time we go the line is out the door and there is not a seat to be had. And it's a counter service, seat yourself type of place so when it's really busy it's like a Black Friday sale at Walmart, and people are rude as anything, stealing tables etc.... I just don't have it in me to fight someone for a place to sit to eat a hotdog. Who needs that kind of stress just to eat lunch. Now I'm a firm believer in that if there's a line there's a reason and yes the food is great! I'm just not willing to wait in that line lol ;) I'm am very happy for PFs though that they are doing so well! If I can hit it at an off peak time, this girl will happily eat the best hotdog in town!!!

After hearing raves about this place, hubby and I finally went. The menu is overwhelming, so I stuck with a tried and true chili dog with shredded cheese--I mean, the classics should always deliver, right? Especially with "homemade chili" . . . also ordered a side of "salt and vinegar" home cut fries. First, the 'dog: Snuggled in the rather large bun (ostensibly to accommodate the more lavish toppings) was an average sized dog with a slather of chili and sprinkles of cheese. I had a knife and fork, thinking I would need to use it to remain somewhat clean, but was more than adequately contained in the bun. Don't worry about generous portions of toppings here, ladies--you barely need a napkin. The chili did not taste "homemade", no texture or deep flavor--reminiscent of the "hot dog sauce" you can get out of a can. Now, the Fries: This was a generous portion--I had ordered the "half basket" and it filled the container to the top. It was unfortunately burned and the salt was not distributed--just heavy-handedly sprinkled/poured over the top. The result was an inedible, soggy mess. The highlight of my meal was the surprise pickle spear--crunchy, cold and tart. Now, I have heard that the porkchop sandwich is something to die for . . . but the place is not named Perfectly Pork Chop . . . or even Perfectly Pickle.

One of my absolute favorite restaurants. Every time I'm in Summerville I HAVE to stop at Franks. Perry the owner has done an amazing job growing this business. The restaurant has an old school Americana feel and the food is incredible. Try the Frank Morgan!!

Huge selection of hot dogs from simple to totally crazy. You can get a simple hot dog with sauerkraut or one with jelly, bacon, cheese and bologna. I think they sell burgers too. There are 2 catches with this place - 1. expect a long long and long wait. Make sure you are NOT hungry when go, otherwise you will be starving by the time you get your food. 2. The actual hot dogs are only ok. expect mid-level grocery store variety. No snap, no pop, etc... not what I would expect from a hot dog shop. Upside is that there are 2 outdoor tables that are dog friendly. One of the employees brought our dog a bowl of cold water (nice).

I tried PF's out after I mentioned to a friend that I enjoyed Jack's Cosmic Dogs. PF has a significantly better selection and a much more open and bright dining area. The order process was more smooth also. I certainly enjoyed the dogs, but I wouldn't say the dogs themselves are better than Jack's. However, given the other comparison points above, PF's is superior overall. They have more to the menu, such as fish/bbq tacos that I didn't try, the fries are alright, and the sweet potato fries are quite good if you're into that sort of thing. I was irritated by how much the restaurant has latched on to the fact that they were featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, but I don't blame them for it. Overall, if you want a good hot dog at a reasonable price, this is your place.
