I stopped in at Ever So Sweet one afternoon in search of a quick bite and stood in front of the counter really unsure of what to pick. The place is huge and clean and although the selection of treats isn't enormous, there is definitely enough to cause a problem for someone like me who has difficulty leaving any sugary pastry/cupcake/cookie behind. I ended up choosing a vanilla cupcake, a raspberry French macaron, and a plain bagel with cream cheese (only cause it was lunchtime and I needed something to counteract the sweet). I started with the bagel and the taste was great, but the texture was really tough. I guess it was slightly over cooked, which provided the extra flavor, but also made it really difficult to eat. Being used to NY bagels, it doesn't compare, but it's a huge step up from the package of Lender's that I've been relegated to since our move to the south. Then, I ate the macaron and I have to admit, time stood still for a moment. This was - BY FAR - the best French macaron I've eaten in Charleston. The shells were PERFECT and had that little eggshell-like crispness to them. The filling was raspberry jam or preserves, which I didn't think I would enjoy as much as the typical buttercream/ganache, but it really worked perfectly. Absolute heaven for $.80 a piece. The cupcake I found to be absolutely vile, but I was on such a high from the macaron I could hardly sit and stew about it. The thing that really turned me off about the cupcake is that the icing has the texture of a block of crisco - greasy and slick. And the cake itself really was nothing special, either. I will definitely be back, if for nothing more than the macarons, but the other items they had that day looked good, so I'm excited to try something new, too.

Delicious treats! Very well done, super yum! Knocked off one star because they were out of cupcakes when I went in... strange! Worth the visit!

My mom and I watched as the once vacant middle store in the cvs shopping center (with eilein's, that salon, merle norman...) transformed into a bakery!! We could not be more excited, coming from long island where bakeries are a dime a dozen and a way of life all together. We longed for fresh baked loaves of bread to eat for dinner and glutinous pastries or italian cookies by the pound to delight guests once again. Well it's not a ny transplant bakery. It's more like a patisseree. It's like Charleston's Baked without the coffee shop vibe. Basically when we walked in and up to the counter I felt pangs of dissapointment, I was facing a display of round cookies, a couple of cupcakes, some biscuits, cake slices, and brownies. And everything was 2.50, 3.00 or more!! What an expensive bakery!! Instead of walking out with boxes of delights, we spent all our money on a small sampler ~ the 2.50 biscuit (what was I thinking?!? It really hit the spot though), a 2.50 ginger cookie, a 2.50 cupcake (it's really good... for those who hate cupcake's cupcakes, this is it's perfectly opposite nemesis), 3.00 apple turnover, and a 1.00 macaroon. It all tastes really good, yes, very good... but I won't be back that often to throw money away at basic things I can make at home. P.S the second time around they have added bagels! They are boiled bagels, but ONE bagle costs 3.50!?!?!?!!!!!!! This is a slap in the face of a New yorker who used to eat a bagel every day and never spent more than 1.25 on a bagel (and that was during our flour crises)

This was posted on my fianceé's Facebook page today on the place: "Again I come to the conclusion that if a business has a rude receptionist who doesn't know how to answer the phone nicely or answer questions without trying to hang up first, it makes your business look terrible and unprofessional. So for whoever picked up the phone at Ever So Sweet Bakery, great job. I'm never stepping foot in there. Ever." I work retail and I know it can be exhausting sometimes. But it would NEVER be acceptable to be anything less than excellent when it comes to customer service, no matter what aspect of business you're in.

I love walking into this bakery. There is always a large variety of items and the place is just so cute. I've tried the cupcakes, macarons, coconut cake truffles, brownies, blondies & a cake slice. The macarons, while maybe different than some more traditional ones you can find, are fantastic. As for the cupcakes & cake, it seems like they use shortening in their icing, & I am more of a buttercream person myself... but they're good nonetheless. I've never tried the bread or bagels, but they always look great.

This is a cute local bakery Summerville needed! This cute bakery is located conveniently on old trolley near Publix. I've never had macaroons til I came here--they are to die for! They don't have them everyday it's only on certain days. Everything there is prepared in house. If you haven't had a macaroon, I suggest you take your butt over there, don't order one because I promise you, you'll be wanting another one!!!
