Great home cooked breakfast. They are true to their word, Nothing Fancy, Nothing Fast...but they are delicious, best biscuits and gravy I've had in years.

Very disappointing. We were directed to Eva's by another restaurant owner, because we wanted breakfast. Unfortunately, we arrived at 10;45 and breakfast was no longer being served. Major bummer. We stayed though and had the Blt with fries. The Blt was mediocre, and the bread was stale. The fries were however hot and delicious. The service was okay, but not great. The place smelled old and stale. I'm assuming breakfast is the big deal there, and am sorry we missed it.

Love the comfort food! Just what is needed on a cold day. Staff is very friendly and prices are great

If you're looking for good southern food you should check out Eva's. The food is always fresh and good.

Southern down home cooking. Nothing fancy. Waitresses were all so funny and friendly. Food was outstanding. All 4 of us had the fried chicken. Add some sides of hand cut fries, fresh green beans and the most impressive biscuits. Save room for dessert. Carrot cake will be in my dreams for years to come. Banana pudding was worthy of a church picnic. Homemade ice cream was creamy and rich. Place has been there for years. Don't miss this gem.

Heard good reviews and wanted to eat local, but I have to say this place was horrible. Microwaved pancakes, frozen tiny biscuits and way over priced for such small portions. Never would recommend this place or give it another try. Money wasted.

Was 2nd person in the restaurant this morning. Sat down , and was asked to move. Because I was in someone's favorite both. Then was last to get order taken. Sorry but I will not be back

Great atmosphere (I'm guessing they've recently renovated) and great breakfast! The wife and I got the biscuits and gravy (they were out of fried chicken) and pancakes. Not sure if the syrup is homemade but all items tasted exactly the way you would expect! You can definitely tell they're using Eva's old school recipes. Will definitely be back!!

I gave Eva's five stars, because as far as 'meat and 3' southern style restaurants go, it just does not get any better. Meat choices are simple enough with Fried Chicken, Beef Stew and Liver and onions. This is not the permanent menu, as meat options do change, yet the other side of the menu with burgers and sandwiches, are permanent. The prices are very fair and the meals are filling, plates served up with large portions of dense and deep fried delights. Vegetarians probably will not find much to their liking, as I noticed that even the okra and tomatoes side, contained a few hunks of ham. Breakfast is a eggs, hash, bacon, pancakes grits and spread out the paper, inexpensive meal out. Clearly a staple and a frequent local gathering spot, located right in the heart of Summerville. Bring cash as the plastic is not accepted.

What a wonderful sweetly southern experience! All female staff! Yes! So kind and helpful despite the fact that they were crazy busy. Delicious fried chicken. REAL live mac n cheese!! The gravy on my husband's hamburger steak made me steal his fries just to dip it up!

This place is a gem! Classic old school diner. Very basic food but very good!. Friendly staff. Lots of locals so can believe thE fact that someone was sitting in a reserved booth!

Eva's is THE place to go for lunch when in the mood for good southern home style cooking.

Summerville's historic meat and three. This is a place you dream about. Open m-F 7a to 3p. Cash only. $7.95 gets you the daily choice of meats and 3 sides. Sweet tea included. This is your grandma's food. Delectable fried chicken, amazing liver and onions, roast pork, meatloaf, etc, , , ,and the sides are truly southern: collards, cabbage, greasy beans, turnips, etc, YEAST ROLLS! Oh yeah, burgers, ham sandwich, grilled cheese, fried egg sandwich. . . .all under $5 Do yourself a favor and go. They lost a star because regulars get the overdose treatment and I believe my money spends the same. Newcomers get a cold shoulder but it soon passes.

Unfortunately we experienced prejudice at this restaurant. We are African- American and we did not experience the same service or portion of food as white customers. We even tried to speak to the owner and she had the oh well attitude. It was like walking in a restaurant in the 1950's where it had the sign Colored People come through the back. It so sad this 2012. If you are any race other than caucasian please Beware!!! I gave 1 star because even though our portions were tiny the food was decent.

I've been to the OLD Eva's more times than I can count, and the food was always hot, delicious, and generous portions. The service was always professional, no nonsense, with no flirting going on halfway across the restaurant. But this NEW Eva's today? The ONLY reason I'm giving a 2 star rating is because of the huge and wonderful biscuit, the likes of which I'd never tasted before. It was excellent. Other than that, the chicken and rice daily special was utterly cold and was exactly what it said... miniscule pieces of chicken with brown rice. Nothing else. No gravy, no mushrooms, no flavoring...... nothing. The beans for the Hoppin' John were only half cooked... and when reported, we were told, "You're the third or fourth person to say that today"....., the fried green tomatoes were hot, but they had nearly no coating on them. The sweet potato souffle was stringy and cold. The Buttery Squash was nothing more than a pile of mush. The whole thing was truly a disaster, and I hated that, because (1) I REALLY wanted to continue going to this restaurant, even though Miss Eva is now gone. And (2) I took someone to lunch that had NEVER BEEN to Eva's before. She had always heard such wonderful things! What a TERRIBLE disappointment... for both of us. We won't be back.

Well I have eaten breakfast here multiple times and each time I am underwhelmed. The food itself is fine...not great not bad...just fine The service is so slow. The folks are nice enough but man it is sooo slooow. Keep in mind this review is based on breakfast only. In the end I would probably give it 2 stars but out of respect the longevity of the place I gave it 3

Summerville is growing explosively. Let's hope the temptation for newer and bigger passes by stalwarts like Eva's. Overlooking the town square, Eva's is simple, direct, and authentic. This is honest cooking which doesn't need a falsely branded image or steep prices to coax us into liking it. We went in this morning in something of a rush and our server, who was genuinely cheerful and welcoming, put our order in and--voila!--before we knew it, there were the two omelettes and stone ground grits, right before us. The omelettes were hot, plump, and with fresh ingredients, tasty. We'll definitely be putting Eva's on our short list of where to eat, this is the sort of business which makes you feel at home and not simply at yet another faceless chain store.
