Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Great food, then the bill shows up. It was about $65, that's before tip, no alcohol purchased. Just Two meals and an appetizer. We both had water. This is a special occasions type of place for us. Not a "lets go eat at Renato's tonight" kind of place. Food was excellent, can't deny that but I am not their target customer base.

I would give them 0 zero stars if I could. The food was bland with no taste. And believe me I tried to get a different dish after I just tasted the bland wedding soup. The chef/owner was very rude about the whole ordeal. If I'm going to pay $24 for lunch for one person then this meal and the service better be amazing. This place is a joke. Buyer beware.

I love this place! Great food, great atmosphere, and awesome staff! Authentic Italian food in the heart of Spartanburg. The owner is a staple of the restaurant and makes it a point to talk to the patrons. The prices are reasonable with that portions.

Exquisite atmosphere with food and drink to rival my usual Charleston haunts. Truly one of the best restaurants in Spartanburg. Perfect for a date or celebration. Offers wide range of Italian and excellent cocktails.

Undoubtedly the best meal I've ever had in Spartanburg! Our server Leroy was as helpful and courteous as they come. The back entrance is very convenient for parking nearby. I had the risotto pescotoro, which had a choice of white wine sauce or sweet cherry tomato. I opted for the second and added some spice as suggested by Leroy. It was unbelievable! My wife had the Vitello Salto in Bocca and green beans tossed in vinaigrette. She was very happy with it. Without drinks our meal still cost more than we would typically spend but everything was fabulous! We will definitely be coming back!

Good Italian food. Upscale atmosphere. Located downtown on the square. Had veal limonia. Very tender veal. Flavor not overdone. Others had scallops and a veal saltimboca (sp?) Good service too Desert menu looks good, but I resisted

I have to agree with Chris, the food is bland. I may be a little picky having lived in Italy. The service was horrible, we were not read the specials ( the waiter said he thought we were in a hurry) , we also ordered soup and was never served it. The manager was courteous and gave us delicious desert but it really did not make up for the horrible service.

It was my husband's birthday and we had family visiting that included a 10 and 2 year old. Although not the ideal Resturant for small children, Zeke who was our wait person, was very attentive and helpful with the dietary selection for the children. During the discussion with Renato about the reservations he recommended a family style meal which was an excellent suggestion. Thank you Renato and Zeke for making the evening memorable, everyone was very impressed with the meal and the service. In our minds you are the best Resturant in town.

The ambience and service was excellent. The food was so-so 6/10. I'm also a bread person. Their bread needs to be improved.

Outstanding!!! We had the price fixed menu and everything was great! We had a delicious Italian cab that was reasonably priced. Service was also very good. This place is a jewel in Spartanburg, SC. I'll return every time I visit Spartanburg. The Sauce is delicious!

I have a group of clients that I take out for lunch every other month after a community meeting we all attend. We usually frequent different restaurants. One of the ladies that attend these lunches recommended Renato's. It was very good! Everyone really enjoyed their meals! Being that I usually pick up the tab, I would prefer that their lunch menu be a little more affordable. Like I said the food was great, it's just a little pricy if you are paying for everyone. Thankfully, this time a competitor attended the lunch and picked up half of the tab.

Excellent Food! Excellent Service! Excellent Atmosphere! In my opinion, the best place to eat in the Upstate. Worth a drive even if you live in Greenville.

This is a great place for a romantic date night in Spartanburg and also for a private business dinner (they have private room you can reserve). It is definitely upscale, compared to some of the other restaurants nearby and offers a nice alternative to casual dining. The wine list is pretty good and they seem to have a nice range of cocktails as well - some of which are rather strong (at least in their preparation by the bartenders). On my first personal visit I ordered the Chicken Parmesan - the sauce was great and the pasta was cooked to perfection but the chicken was battered and therefore tasted eggy and it wasn't as crispy as desired. It was also under seasoned, it needed a bit of salt before it was breaded. On my second personal visit I ordered the Fettuccine Romana with grilled chicken. As described on the menu, it sounded great. When it arrived the sauce tasted like flour, sage, and nutmeg. It was dry and didn't have that creamy feel like one expects from a dish like this. I know it wasn't supposed to be Alfredo and that's quite alright but there was no mention of sage or nutmeg in the description and I am not a fan of either thing. The grilled chicken was under portioned and overcooked. Nothing about the dish was luscious. I mentioned it to the waitress because I barely ate any of the pasta. She returned with the owner who tried to convince me of the dish. I just didn't like it - and that's alright - but it was also not as described. After debating this with the owner, he took off half of the cost of the pasta - but not of the dish. Later the waitress said that no one likes that dish and she considered telling me I should order something else. The appetizers are all great and so is the seafood but sometimes overpriced.

Had dinner with a a couple of friends during the week. The place was relatively crowded. The decor comfortable. Not sure how this place has escaped my knowledge over the years. I had death-row-worthy cheese raviolis with asparagus and squash on top that still haunt me. And they were a special that night which means I may never get them again. Ever. I am still thinking about them. [heavy sigh]. I also got a salad which was fresh, crisp, and flavorful. I requested some grated cheese for it and they gladly brought it out. One friend got the pizza and shared a slice. It was very good. We split a couple of desserts but I can't remember because I am still thinking about the ravioli. Have I mentioned how good the ravioli was?!!
