Last night I really had to have a chicken taco salad and they make a awesome one. Lots of chicken in a large taco bowl. So fresh on a hot summer night. Rosie was there to greet us with her usual smile, basket of warm chips and 2 kinds of salsa. Always feel welcome, leave full and happy.

El Tejano's is in a tie for my favorite locally owned Mexican restaurant in Simpsonville with Anita's. The food here is always great. I've never been disappointed with a meal, nor do I know anyone else who has. The pollo fundito and the chimichangas are my favorites. The real five star winner here is the impeccable service. Rosie has to be one of the nicest people I've ever met, and she always remembers her regulars, no matter how long it's been. It had been at least a year since I had last been, and I was greeted with a huge smile and a big "Where have you been all this time?!" This is a great neighborhood family restaurant!

Wow! We went with some friends, making a party of 8. We arrived around 6:15pm on a Saturday night which was good, because we were seated immediately. A half hour later there were at least 5 groups waiting for tables. The servers knew our friends (and several other guests) by name. I've got to say this was some of the best Mexican food I've had. It was standard Americanized fare, but it was delicious. My only complaint was a tiny strip of chile in my relleno. I look forward to my next dinner there!

I eat here about twice a month because the food and service are always top notch and reasonably priced. The staff is very accomodating of my toddler and make sure to tell him hello whenever they walk by our table.

I've been to great Mexican restaurants and terrible Mexican restaurants, and I'd say this place falls right in the middle. The food was good, not great - but reasonably priced, and the beers were HUGE. Dos Equis on tap, which is a plus. The servers were very attentive, and the food was served quickly. I would eat here again, but I'd probably try some other places first, considering there are LOTS of Mexican restaurants in the area.

Was craving good, home-style Mexican food and found El Tejano. Good food, fast service, and friendly staff. The place was filled with locals and everyone who walked in the door was greeted as family. Great atmosphere; would definitely go back and would definitely recommend.

Affectionately called "Rosie's," El Tejano is a family favorite for my family. The service is the absolute best in Greenville. It is so nice to have the staff greet us as if we're personal friends! And the food is fabulous. Upon some rare occasion something may be served that isn't exactly what was expected, the staff will immediately correct the problem. This is one of the Upstate's premier restaurants and definitely worth the visit. PS: The fajitas are amazing!

This place was a downright awful experience. Went in with a group of friends as a party of six, one wasn't given silverware, and one ad their drink taken away when they asked for a refill. All the dishes that were ordered were supposed to have the options of pico de gallo or lettuce and no one was asked which they wanted... everyone got lettuce drenched in sour cream whether they wanted it or not. Speaking of, the food wasn't good either. Said lettuce was served in a small corn tortilla on the plate and was soggy to the point of being inedible. Half the table ordered beef which wasn't properly broken down during prep and was nothing but mouthfulls of fat. The salsa had the consistency of water and you could taste uncleaned veggies. The cheese smothered all the food and was a soup consistency. To add salt to the wounds, we were charged TWICE for chip dip and the veggetarian at the table was charged extra to have the meat on their dish removed despite them getting less food tnan everyone else with the same dish. Stay away from this place, there are PLENTY of other authentic restaurants in the area far better than this one.

Second time here. My good friend in the area introduced me to this place. Standard mexican fare. Very good. Their spicy salsa packs a punch. Service is second to none. The owner makes everyone feel at home and you can tell she has a lot of regulars that just lover her.

Wow! Glad to find this place after moving to Simpsonville! REALLY great service, excellent fresh food, large portion size... The salsa and guac are great. The Burrito Loco is loco size, so watch out... you'd better be HUNGRY! If you're a fan of authentic Mexican cuisine, this place will not disappoint!

What a solid Mexican restaurant! I chose this place based on the good reviews and I was not disappointed. Most meals are well under $10 and are filling. I had chicken enchiladas. The sauce was really something special. Everyone at my table enjoyed their meals. The employees at the restaurant make this place great too. I'm not used to servers and hostesses being so genuinely friendly. It sure makes me want to go back.

Rosie is energetic and is always the perfect hostess. I frequent El Tejano on a regular basis, and I am never disappointed with my entree or my cocktail. Tonight I had the shrimp quesadilla that was scrumptious. I give this Mexican restaurant 5 stars because it's service and food is consistently Excellent!!!

This is where I go when I'm craving a taco salad! I think they have the best tasting one around. Service is always friendly and fast (salsa's not bad either)! Won't give you anything you couldn't find elsewhere, but the family friendly atmosphere keeps it on our radar. An enjoyable dining experience.

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants. For a typical Mexican restaurant, the quality and taste is fantastic. Everyone I've taken here has loved it. I have been going here for 8 years and it's always consistent!

Everyone here is very friendly! The atmosphere is family friendly every time I have visited, though they do have a full bar. The fajita quesadilla and anything with chicken is great here. I've come at various times during the day and evening and gotten great service. I dropped a star for the cold hard tortilla chips and tomato paste-y salsa...not the best but the cooked food is good.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
