I was very impressed with my first visit to Millstone Pizza and Taproom! It is so great to see a new local place in downtown Rock Hill! There are a lot of unique flavor combinations on the pizza menu! We ended up trying the meat pizza, which was delicious! We also had the Millstone salad, which is fabulous! The sundried tomato dressing is soooo good! My husband and I split the pizza and salad and it was more than enough food for two, and we had leftovers. Also, the cannoli was fabulous!

The food is delicious with 40 beers on tap! Best restaurant in Rock Hill hands down. The meatball appetizer is delicious, the sausage and goat cheese pizza is perfect and you MUST get a cookie for dessert. My family fights over who gets the last bite! Service is a little spotty, but the food makes up for it.

I'll caveat by saying that I only stopped in for a beer so this is not a review of their food. For having "taphouse" in their name, I was hoping for a bit more variety. They have a decent number of beers on tap, but very few that aren't near or above 10% abv. All of their IPAs were Imperial - not exactly conducive to session.

I was there on the first day of "actual" service, when the bricks in their "Vesuvius" oven weren't yet seasoned and my pizza was on huge lump of charcoal. I knew they'd eventually get it right and I haven't been disappointed. i kept returning and as days passed the pizzas began to leave their oven with light char perfection! Service is already excellent and still improving. Bob, one of the managers, is always buzzing around the tables, assessing diner experience and kibitzing. Jason, one of the owners, always has a hawk-eye on the goings on. My collegues always return now for the pizza and fine craft beers available. The concept is gonna take off and its well-deserved, even after only two weeks. Give the venue a try. Its a wonderful place, with good food, beer and atmosphere. I can't wait till the put table and chairs on their patio area when the wx warms. Do try their luncheon special. Nine bucks gets you a "personal" sized pizza, salad and drink (not beer). And the venue took a dilapidated building and turned into a great place, as part of "Raw Keel's" revitialization, and made one more small jewel to visit. Bravo guys! Five Stars coming soon!! I just know it.

I was here for lunch today, Thursday middle of the week. I hope this place does a tremendous dinner business because I wasn't feeling it for lunch. To start off there were a total of 2 customers eating besides me and my co-worker. That's not going to cut it IMO. For lunch what are we looking for? A place that offers good quality, reasonable prices and tasty dishes. Millstone had decent quality, high prices for lunch and the food was tasty. I will give them a pointer...people are not going to pay $12.00 - $18.00 for pizza at lunchtime. If you're restaurant is call Millstone PIZZA people come during lunch you have to serve pizza by the slice. Yes, you had a special for $8.50 or so for a very small pizza with one topping, and a small garden salad with some mixed green and 2 tomatoes and some onions. That meal cost you about $1.50 and I still felt ripped off paying $8.50 which is about the max I'd like to spend on lunch anywhere. I see the draw, craft beers good pizza and some sandwiches. In theory this place would do well in Charlotte. Rock Hill, I think the jury's still out. The evidence is that you go to Applebees (YUCK) at lunchtime and it's packed. This place not so much. I'd like to try it at dinnertime to see if maybe it draws the college crowd or something. I hope it does.

I have been several times. I love the sauce for the pizza but they really skimp on the sauce and the cheese. It is very expensive and delicious but I wish they would add a little more sauce. I feel like I am eating thin bread. The service was ok but the waitress on 2 of my visits used a a fake New Zealand accent and she really got on my last nerve. She had visited New Zealand and decided to try to talk with an accent. I like the atmosphere. I will be going back but if they skimp as much as my last visit, going to hang it up.

The good : Good beer selection, nice decor, nice staff (bartender gave me a few samples which I really appreciated), food was quick, Happy Hour $3 selected pints until 7pm. The bad: Pizza crust was burnt black on both pizzas. Pointed this out to waitress who said that is normal for a wood fired oven. Hmmmm.,..first time for me. The taste of charcoal isn't my thing. Kinda pricey ~$15 for an average 12" pizza. Overall: If you want to grab a few beers and possibly nibble on something, this is a good place.

Came on a Sunday, got a nice table outside in the beautiful weather. I ordered the Margherita pizza and added sausage for $2. (Brought the pizza to $12 for a 12") Really freakin tasty! It's a simple pizza, but done wrong, it's really wrong. Millstone nailed it. I love wood-fire pizza. I think some people don't realize it is actually wood-fire made. (See:super hot temps, thin crust, cooked fast) It is SUPPOSED to have a char look and taste. It's what makes it delicious! I ordered a beer that was a little out of my norm (forget the name), but I wasn't crazy about it. No one's fault but my own. Also, plenty of parking in the lot outside- that always starts things out in a positive direction. As far as pizza goes- I would both recommend and return to Millstone next time I'm in RockHill.

Great find of a restaurant in downtown Rock Hill, in the little time we had to spend in town we felt lucky to find this place on a sleepy Sunday afternoon. The menu was varied and interesting. The pizzas were fresh and tasty and filling. The servers were friendly and knowledgable (and apparently accustomed to customers who are used to chain-store pizza, as ours made sure to note what an oven-fired pie would look like, heh). We loved the building itself, old downtown exposed brick adorned with classic rock posters and original art. Oh and to feed a family of five for around $40 and still have food to take home? Doesn't hurt either!

Pizza is empty. Great beer selection and the fire grilled pizza has potential, but they don't put enough toppings on. You end up with bread and sauce. Plus it's usually burnt. Still good, but what a disappointment. Please add the artichoke to your veggie pizza!

Never again. I went to Millstone to grab a to-go salad around 11:20 a.m. and received my salad at 11:45 a.m. when nobody (I REPEAT - NOBODY) was in the restaurant. Waitresses were walking around aimlessly. I asked for a water while I waited ... didn't get that. I ordered a large salad which looked like a small. I am not only upset that I wasn't acknowledged or apologized to for the long and unnecessary wait, but my salad is not worth the amount I paid. Go somewhere else, please.

First time trying this place Saturday...nothing bad to say! The service was great, the food was delicious, and according to my boyfriend the beer selection was pretty awesome. I am not much of a beer drinker myself, but I really enjoyed all the beers on the highland brewery flight. We had a 16" half margherita/half pepperoni & sausage (yum), a flight of beer, and other non-alcoholic drinks for around $30. Not bad and pretty comparable to other places. The atmosphere is much nicer than other run of the mill pizza joints; open, lots of wood, lots of windows, rock posters and rock music playing. We enjoyed it!

What a great place! In the heart of Old Town, the atmosphere is laid back, warm, and welcoming. A large beer selection - and they don't limit your sampling to find the perfect flavor to meet your tastebuds. Pizza was delicious too. Friendly and approachable staff. They really did a great job with this place, definitely a place to check-out!

So let me be honest. I didn't come here for the pizza...but...I was pleasantly surprised how nicely the pizza was done. I love some Neapolitan style pizza...especially when a goat has supplied the cheese. There's a beer I fell in love with while in Blowing Rock recently. The Weyerbacher Double Simcoe IPA!!! This beer is so smooth and solid, it'll pick you up and put you down sideways. Fan...Freakin...Tastic! So the disappointment was that Millstone didn't have it on tap...boo! Just kidding...of course they had it on tap. A+ gang! Good pizza, great beer, so why only four stars? The pricing! This is Uptown pricing in a small-town downtown. Rock Hill is barely ready for some culture and establishments that bring new tastes to their taste-buds. You can't get a steady stream of customers if you don't build your base first. Rock Hill's not the type of place that spends $13 on a pizza to find out if they like goat cheese. Since the beer is already expensive...how about a couple of dirt cheap apps or samplers to get people to hang around and sample the spendier beers? I get what kind of audience you're trying to attract, but you'll need some of the other folks to maintain the business while Rock Hill accustoms itself to filling the shoes of a true Charlotte suburb. Try: The pick your own flight for $9 Avoid: Nothing...everything was pretty great

What a beautiful day to sit outside for lunch! Stumbled on this place and they were awesome! My husband got the BBQ pizza that had a wonderful white sauce and I got a salad that had prosciutto artichoke hearts crumbles bacon and I added some grilled shrimp!!! Nom nom! Good beer, good food and pretty good prices. These people also own McHales so they know what they are doing.

I found the food and beer selection to be pretty good. However, the pricing bothered me. I picked out a few beers that were great and when I say a few I mean three. So three beers, pizza, plus tip $40.00 plus dollars. I think I will take that same money and invest it into a nice steak dinner next time. I understand the reasons behind the charges but maybe figure out some way to have a special where you can have some pizza and a couple beers for say $20.00

I have to agree that Rock Hill really needed a place like this. It has great atmosphere with garage doors that can open when it's nice, exposed brick, reused wood in the bar and vaulted ceilings. There are 40 craft beers on tap, and they also offer a small selection of liquor and wine. I'm more of a cider drinker, and although they didn't have any tonight (they've only been open 2 weeks), our bartender said they would be rotating in the future and potentially adding one or two. He also gave us a quick spiel on their set-up, menu and "history," which I appreciated. The fella and I weren't feeling too splurgy on food, but the pizzas looked great as they came out of the wood fired stove, which the bartender said cooks pizzas in mere seconds because of its temperature. So, I got a salad with shrimp, and he got the meatball sub. Both were really tasty and reasonably priced. The menu is small, which I like because I can get overwhelmed with too many choices. However, I do also try to eat healthy-ish when I can; there were 5 or 6 salad options, but they all had cheese, croutons, etc. (I know, I know - delicious), and there wasn't a grilled chicken sandwich in sight. One or two healthy options would be great, but I get that that's not necessarily their nitch. Looking forward to going back when I'm looking to gorge myself on pizza and cider!

Happened to be in the area so stopped by for lunch. Had the calamari appetizer which was good but came with the tiniest pot of marinara sauce; ratio of calamari to marinara was 6:1. They gave us another pot no problem, but surely we can't be the first person to ask for more sauce! Followed it with a gluten free pizza which was excellent for gluten free. He had the meat pizza. Millstone only had Italian sausage not pork sausage which is a pizza pet peeve of his. He had it anyway and the pie was good. Overall a good place with a nice atmosphere (TVs on wall could have been bigger for the space, but I didn't go there to watch TV so, so no points off there!). The food quality was excellent, with truly fresh ingredients. The server was pleasant and was training another girl who was also friendly. Will definitely return when I am in Rock Hill again.

It must have been an off night, seems everyone else loves this place, but I really did not enjoy Millstone Pizza. This pizza was burnt,the place loud and the waitstaff aloof. Liked the half price beer (limited grouping though) before 7. What else can I say, but I doubt I will ever return...With Fuel, Mellow Mushroom, Empire in the neighborhood, I can get better pizza for much less.

I love this place! Not the best pizza I've had but it's pretty good... And craft beer in Rock Hill WHAT! It's amazing... Things are a bit pricey for the area so they are lucky I'm not from the area ;) this is a pizzeria/ Bar that could compete with charlottes best. Let's just hope they aren't over shooting the Rock Hill crowd.

Great selection of wood fired pizzas! The crust is truly unique and comes out great under the wood fire. I went with my family on a Thursday night, the kids ate for free and it is Pint Night where any of their featured monthly brews come with the signature brewery glass. The décor fits right in for the old town part of Rock Hill. The draft beer selection is good and mostly local. Definitely plan to go back with the atmosphere, pizza, beer, and customer service.

Millstone used to be my favorite restaurant in RH bar none. They have a pretty good beer selection, their fried mushrooms make you want to slap your Mama and the people are nice there. The pizza was always delicious as well. So much so that we asked how they make the crust and ordered the 00 flour to try and duplicate it at home with mixed results. The last three times we have been were really disappointing. We get that the wood fire leaves a bit of char on the pizza. These were downright burned. The first time we sent it back and they brought out another which was equally as burned. We were very depressed but chocked it up to a fluke. We have gone back twice since then and experienced the same results. I am sad because Rock Hill is pretty lacking in independently owned restaurants, especially good ones. Millstone, can you please fix your oven so it doesn't burn my pizza and so I can love you again?

Like other posters, the crust was burnt. Wasn't completely but enough that it took away from a pizza whose sauce was very good and the crust was perfectly thin...you didn't feel like you were stuffed from too much dough, but again, the burnt aspects really took away from the flavor.

Millstone has a great atmosphere in downtown Rock Hill. Awesome selection of beer ( try the harpoon rye IPA!) and the pizza is fresh, with a crispy but doughy crust. I had the margarita pizza with a scratch made sauce, fresh mozzarella, giving the pizza a nice salty touch. A great place to stop after paddling at lansford canal park!

Don't go here if you are looking for Budweiser or Miller, they don't live there, but if you are looking for great craft beers and delicious pizza this is your place. Rock hill has been in need of a place like this for years. It is a little pricey, but well worth it. Craft and quality don't come cheap. Great lunch specials if you want to try it on a budget.

My pizza was fantastic, I am not a huge fan of pizza places that go off the normal path of making pizza. However, this place got it right. My wife's salad was huge and she said it was very good....plus I absolutely loved the spring water brought to us in chilled corked bottles. On a hot day it was just what I wanted..I am a water snob and can't drink unfiltered/tap water unless it has a few lemons in it. The area is nice and I could see myself going there with friends and having beers and some pizza too.

Visited Millstone and must say the food is very good. The place looks very nice and the service is excellent. Why only 3 stars? The prices. Yeah I know, but a medium size pizza for $14 and beers that range from $5.50 - $9.00. This is Rock Hill not New York. I would recommend it as a special occasion place. Don't think it will attract a huge number of "regulars" when a meal an a couple of glasses of beer will set you back over $30/person. They also have a nice patio for folks who want to sit outside but be warned - they don't allow smoking on their patio.

It's nice to see an upscale pizza place in the area. Milstone has a great selection of tap and craft beers, The meat Dela Posta appetizer is good enough to be an entree should they make a larger version. The one thing they have the rest if RH is missing us a brick oven. If you're a brick oven pie fan, you won't be disappointed. The staff has been really personable and quick with a small beer sample. The only thing keeping me from adding a 5th star was the Margherita Pizza we had was a little doughy and the price was more NYC than RH. Come Spring time when they open the garage doors the Millstone is going to be hard to beat.

Today this place gets five stars: mostly because of Martha. She has been, even before I walked into this place, the epitome of hospitality and good service. I called from 30 minutes away to find out what their happy hour beers were today: She was quick to tell me and friendly too! When I arrived she "figured" that I was the guy that had called and was very welcoming. She doesn't miss a beat this one. EVERY SERVER ANYWHERE SHOULD OBSERVE HER IN ACTION: she is a true professional. To the management now at Millstone, thank you for hiring such a wonderful service oriented individual.

Bar only: Millstone is one of a few businesses that calls home in a gentrified building in downtown Rock Hill. It has an Asheville type of feel with its roll up garage door window systems and some hip décor. One of the first things you notice is the cord of wood stacked up front, and then your eye is drawn to the pizza oven. Turn your head to the right and you will find the bar with tons of taps, both local and out of state. Currently, they are having a tap take over from Ballast Point - an impressive brewery. I did feel that $7.50 for Grapefruit Sculpin IPA was ridiculous when I can get a six pack for $15, and most other places charge between $5 and $6 a pint. Being unfamiliar with the area, I'm not sure what alternatives to Millstone are around. I do know that it's impossible to wash your hands in the men's room. Only one faucet works and the one that does, doesn't stay turned on. If you don't mind the plumbing issues and are thirsty for a cold one, you might want to give them a try.

Though I could not enjoy any of the beers on tap, the IPA selection was inspired. If you are looking for a cool hang out spot or quality date night location, check this place out.

Great beer, delicious pizza, what's not to like! We really enjoyed our food here and had fun giving driving advice to the waitress who claimed she could drive from Rock Hill to Columbia in 20 minutes. Fortunately, she served beer as fast as she drives. Our only complaint is that the food is a little on the pricy side for what you get. That said, we will definitely be back.

We caught them busy on a Friday evening, packed to the gills. No matter, they brought us a table in from outside! Our server was absolutely terrific, she let us taste a couple of beers before deciding. We ordered a Zoe Pizza and it was fantastic and we had leftovers for later. I'm looking forward to next visit already! Nice beer selection, neat atmosphere - very reminiscent of Old Town Alexandria. One thought. I ordered a Dragon's Milk and it was served in a Pint glass. That might be a smidge much. How about a smaller glass and lower the price a bit?

Nice menu selections and appetizers you won't find at any other restaurant in Rock Hill - now if they would just stop burning my pizzas I may actually go there more. I've stopped in quite a few times and the service is spot on and quite friendly 95% of the time. Delicious appetizers and a big fan of their cheese plate. This is also one of the few spots in RH where you have a solid craft beer selection and I appreciate that. Yet I tend to stop in here only when someone I'm with suggest it as I won't volunteer the location. I've ordered a pizza there 3 times now and twice it came out burnt. And not slighty burnt but solid black on the bottom. Having been in the service industry, there is not a lot I'll complain about so I appreciated when the waitress strolled by during the first burnt mess she immediately apologized and sent the manager over who discounted our order - stellar service on that and appreciate the voluntary acknowlegement they messed up. Stopped in last weekend and both our garlic bread and pizza were horribly burnt. Ended up eating the toppings and leaving the burnt pile of bread on a side plate. I ended up leaving a little pissy as I saw the manager peer over the bar and heard him make a comment about the burnt pile to the bartender and a cook who was now off his shift and drinking at the bar - nice that they all talked about it but never received a visit from the manager to apologize. Other than that the decor is cozy and love the open kitchen concept where you can see what's happening. Plus the wood fired oven offers up a crunchy crust which is right up my alley. Nice patio as well for the summertime.

Great lil brick oven pizza place in Rock Hill, SC. GREAT ingredients used simple to make great pies. Amazing rotating tap list. I was just here maybe 2 weeks ago and I bet 70% of the taps have changed. Right next to the market that goes on Thursdays and I believe sat.

I ordered the Mozzarella Panini... It's not a panini. It's tomato, peppers and cheese on a un-grilled, un-pressed sub role. The manager was nice enough to take it back and try to fix it but it didn't help much. The waiter was awesome but the food was just no good. Service not bad... Food not good.

Staff was friendly and helpful- the apple/ blueberry cider was yum! -- great suggestion from our waitress. Plus a nice selection of beers. I loved the pizza-- we had a 12 inch veggie-- I like the thin , little bit charred crust from the wood burning stove. They have a great outdoor area to sit, eat and hang out.

Pizza here was alright, but I found it to be overly salty. It was almost too salty for me to even eat, but I endured a couple of slices just because I was hungry. Beer selection is alright, I suppose. Prices are reasonable. Service was a bit slow, in my opinion. Probably will not be back.

I should've paid more attention to the negative reviews. My friend and I ate here for the first and last time last night. We both got mozzarella paninis, which weren't paninis, it was mozzarella, tomatoes, balsamic and peppers on a sandwich roll, not even pressed. The bread was terrible. We spoke to the manager who attempted to fix it but just brought my friend the same bitten into sandwich and bread, pressed. Terrible food. There are much better places to spend your money, I assure you. Won't be back.

I don't write reviews often but feel the need to communicate my experience if for no other reason than to save someone else the trouble. We've been here twice now and both times we waited on average of 45-60mins for our food. Full disclosure, the first time was during the Come See Me Festival and they were very busy. But that didn't stop people that sat next to us to order, eat, pay and leave all before our food came. The reason ours took so long, they forgot the order. Now again, because it was extremely busy, we paid our bill and said we'd try later. Today, we went at lunch, and again waited for upwards of 45 mins for a salad and a sandwich- not even a pizza. Only today, there were a total of 7 tables in the restaurant. Our kids meals which we asked to rush for kid reasons, took about 25 mins (grilled cheese). Our server was polite and apologetic, but we ultimately had to ask for our food to go because we'd been there an hour and the kids were done. The server said she'd get the sandwich removed from our bill. Upon her return, she again had to apologize because the manager wouldn't comp the sandwich, but rather took a 10% discount on that item - a savings of $1. I couldn't possibly care less about the money, but that meaningless gesture was more offensive than any long waits or miscues that the staff caused. We will not patronize this place again until they get their act together or at least hire leadership that takes a genuine interest in their guests' experience.

Nice little pizza place that no doubt has a wood fire oven. The pizza I had and my gf had were great. The pizza is along the lines of a new York crust just a little different. The issues I had was the service was a bit slow and they seemed to have a lot of offerings on their taps that were out. If I am in the area again I wouldn't mind dropping in, just hope they have more full than empty taps the next time

Finally got a chance to visit Millstone. I like the atmosphere here, rustic, brick walls, large open room, high ceiling, music playing. The crowd ranged from families with small kids to, to older couples, to young adults playing corn hole. The best thing about this place, and the reason I came, the beer! I haven't had much luck finding a craft beer place in Rock Hill, but this definitely has it. I would guess 50 craft brews on draft. They had 3 beer flights to choose from. Two specials where they pick the brews and one where you can pick your own. Apparently, they have a brewery of the week. This week is Boulevard Brewery from Kansas City. So, I got the Boulevard flight. As I'm still refining my understanding and taste of different kinds of beers, I love being able to get a flight and try 4 different beers. My wife got a Holy City Brewery (Charleston) Washout Wheat. Again, very nice. We got beer battered fried mushrooms as an appetizer. These were very tasty and hit the spot for a pair of hungry patrons. They have a good selection of specialty pizzas. We got the Sausage and Goat Cheese pizza. The crust is different than typical, but very good. I like having something a little different and again, this hit the spot. Staff was very friendly. The place was busy, but we had no trouble walking right in a getting a table. Really enjoyable place to go. We will definitely be back.

The pizza is pretty good but a little pricey. The beer selection is good. I like the ambience and the open air option of dining when they roll up the glass overhead doors. That to me is the gem of this place.

Just one of the many restaurants that Rock Hill has been missing. Good pizza, good service, great draft (craft) beer selection. Pizza is resonably priced for brick oven with good quality ingredients. Will be returning soon.

Best pizza in all of Charmeck. Very fresh. The 40 beers on tap is great and for once they're good beers, not Bud or Miller.

Ate here for lunch and it was fantastic! We got the garlic knots for appetizer and we could've eaten another order very easily. We got the meat pizza and it was cooked perfectly. This is definitely going to be our go-to place for downtown Rock Hill. Our server was very helpful and the food came out quickly.

I wanted to splurge on a pizza and I was so mad at myself for choosing this place to have a pizza. The garlic knots are fried and they were literally as hard as a rock. Perhaps the menu item name could be changed to garlic rocks? I could barely cut them with a knife. The pizza was worse. It was flat, flimsy, burnt, had no taste, had hardly any sauce or cheese. Honestly, it was the worst pizza I have ever had. You need to up your pizza game, Millstone! I truly did not know it was possible for pizza to be burnt yet totally flimsy at the same time. Yes, I realize this is a Taproom, but they only have a couple of wines to choose from - as in two wines. And I am all for staff getting to have a drink after work, but they should change their work clothes first - not sit at the bar in their Millstone shirts.
