Went twice a week and never had an issue. Today we waited over 30 minutes and our order was never taken. 20 min in we did actually get to order drinks. The cheese dip came but by that time we had no chips. Nobody came to check on us. Nobody came to take our orders. When i complained to the hostess she got defensive and said, "Sorry i wasn't your server". When complaining to the manager she said she was sorry but did not offer any way to attempt to make it right. When i asked her for a resolution she said i'm sorry what do you want me to do about it. I'm beyond disgusted at the service here.

The service is good and the food is decent. However, if you're looking for top notch Mexican food it's best to look elsewhere. I will say they have excellent margaritas though.

You're not supposed to be getting worse the longer you've been open. Five dishes... and nobody had a good experience. The food was the saltiest we've ever had. There were three good things: The service was good, the chips and salsa were good, and the beer tasted like they keep their taps clean. Three good things however, do not make up for the food being practically inedible.

I have been wanting to try this place for a very long time, and unfortunately I was incredibly disappointed. We spent about 45 minutes here and at least half the time we were just sitting there waiting. The lazy server never introduced himself, refilled one drink (out of four) one time, and just wandered around looking bored. The food was overpriced and pretty disgusting. I wanted to get the house special plate of two fried chimichangas, but the server said they don't put ground beef in fried chimichangas because "when you go to fry them, all the meat falls out." Huh?! Clearly your cooks have never eaten Mexican good. Reluctantly I got a lunch special of an enchilada, rice, and refried beans. The refried beans were canned, the rice was dry and bland, and the enchilada sauce tasted like burnt ketchup and salt. I had to ask THREE different people for guacamole and when it finally did show, it tasted just as revolting as it looked. It was runny, plain, and had the texture of curdled milk. I didn't touch it again. The server only walked by twice and never said a word, even though he stopped at the table behind us to offer some lame, off the cuff explanation as to why he'd been missing so long. I actually had to go look for him to get our check. I will tell everyone I know to avoid this restaurant and I will never eat here again.

We had a gift card to use and that was the reason we dined here today...my husband has eaten at the Rock Hill location before, but this is my first time here. I wanted to like it. I really did. Our waitress Victoria was great. Attentive, friendly and checked on us often. The chips and salsa were good. There was fresh cilantro in it...so that made me happy. My husband liked his meal and would get it again. Mine was ok, but certainly not better than 3 stars. First, broccoli in my fajitas? I know it was vegetarian, but in all of my years eating Mexican, I have never seen it and didn't find it fit. The veggies were well cooked but lacked any distinctive flavor other than salt which makes me sad because I absolutely LOVE fajitas. The guacamole salad was fresh and I enjoyed it, the rice was ok but nothing outstanding. I had plenty of leftovers that I will send with the hubby tomorrow. With other choices nearby, not sure I will venture back soon.

If you're out of tacos al pastor, you should tell me this more than 30 seconds before the rest of my party gets their food...they are almost done and I'm still waiting.

Everyone has their opinion and here is mine. My husband and I decided last minute to have dinner there. We enjoyed another location in RH so much that we hoped it would be as good. Every expectation met. Greeted and seated immediately, had our food on the table in 15 minutes. Carnitas was outstanding, fish tacos are no doubt the best in town. Service was friendly and attentive and the ritas rock too!

The food is okay, but there is a children's playhouse next door, so there were screaming kids everywhere when I went. It took at least 30 minutes for someone to take my order too.

Hard to find authentic tasting Mexican food. I ordered the enchiladas with a beef sope. Being born and raised in Los Angeles most Mexican food doesn't compare well. I was disappointed in the ground beef filling, would expect a shredded beef filling. The sauce was average. The sope was descent although the sope itself tasted like it was either old or stale. The meat was average. The best part of the meal was the chips, I do prefer more of a chunkier salsa such as pico de gallo, so the salsa was also average. Overall the food was decent, may eventually visit again.

Pretty bad. The other location in RH (near Lowes) is great, but this cannot possibly be owned by the same people... Service is OK, but the food is mediocre and that is generous... Went when the first opened a while ago. Terrible. Chalked it up to being brand new. Went again another time to give them another chance. Still bad. Tried one more time several months later, really hoping to be happy, but nope. A shame, since we have to drive a bit for good Mexican.

Wow! I don't understand the bad reviews here. I went yesterday for lunch and not only was the service impeccable, the food was better than anything I've had in this area! The restaurant is super clean with no foul odors when you walk in the door. The food was good! The salsa was addicting! I have been to 2 other Mexican Restaurants in Rock Hill, 2 in York, and 1 in Clover, and Charanda has the best food, service, and atmosphere by comparison.

Not as good as one in Rock Hill near Lowes.

2 stars are for margaritas. We live near by so have eaten here many times. We go for fast food but the food really is not very good. Chips and salsa are good but every thing taste the same. We just keep trying it but when we want good Mexican food we go to Cantina 1511 in Charlotte.

The food is good, but the service is sorely lacking. Our waiter seems to be the only person working in here. Three customers have come in and left because the entire staff is huddled around the bar watching a soccer match, whooping, yelling, and partying. Way to run a business, Charanda. The other Rock Hill location is a much classier establishment.

Avoid!!! My 2 check in's were due to peer pressure as I was in a group of people who think Chicken Nachos is Mexican food. The poor, poor tastebud-less people I hang with sometimes! If you are in the area, stop by Empire Pizza or Koizumi's instead unless your in the mood for Chicken Nachos, I hear they are the bomb! Ugh!!!!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
