Steak was very salty would have been better off licking a salt block this is the second time I have been here the first was when they first opened food was decent then but not the best ever had tonight was probably the worst steak I have ever had ordered at a restaurant I ordered the sirloin medium rare when the meal was brought to the table I cut it as always to see if properly cooked it was a little over cooked was gonna overlook that and just have a nice meal with family but that first bite of steak that taste like pure salt it went back they did offer to cook another but I declined it and anything else on their menu due to food not being that good the first time I ate there father in law complained about the sautéed mushrooms he got as a side not tasting right as if they satire them in plain water not flavor at all needless to say I will never be back to this restaurant the food and service just plain ass sucks here

Not impressed with this restaurant.. First of all the seating is uncomfortable.. If you are on the vertically challenge side some of the chairs do not have 2 rungs so you can prop your feet up on them.. therefor they dangle ! Others are so old the cushioning is non existant and you feel the wood slats.. NOT comfortable ! Then there is the food ... my trout was dry and lacked flavor. .. the muscles were good... and the wine nicely priced per glass.. Those were the 2 good points for me.. but that was all... This was the 2nd time I have been there and the 2nd time I was not at all happy .. I won't be back ..

The Sunday Brunch is always good. Menu changes each week-they post each upcoming week on their Facebook page. And it's delish. The other days of the week are so-so. The wait staff is pleasant but service is slow and I haven't figured out if the tables are too high or chairs too low but the seating can be uncomfortable. Still, it's a beautiful old building with a nice atmosphere and the 5$ cheeseburger plate on Tuesdays can't be beat and is quite good.

Friends have mentioned the Saluda River Grill in a positive way so I decided to give it a try - and I'm glad I did. The evening special was a discounted price on the filet, and it was cooked perfectly. The green beans and sauteed mushrooms were were good accompaniments to the meal. I added the grilled shrimp which were cooked perfectly as well. The rolls weren't anything to brag about, though. A key ingredient for any restaurant is the service, and the Saluda River Grill did not disappoint. Everyone was attentive and helpful without being overbearing. For example, the beverage glass remained topped off without that being a distraction from the meal. I'm told the burger special on Tuesdays is not to be missed, so I'll bring the better half along to try that soon.

Delicious food and very well priced. I had a hamburger because the buns were made in house, so worth it! My husband had the mushroom ravioli and he really enjoyed his dish as well. Everything was fresh, and the salad dressings are also made on site (ranch is really good!). Please give this place a try for yourself instead of reading the bad reviews....

Such a shame! Restaurant has beautiful atmosphere but lousy food! Everything tasted frozen or from a can.

If it's the only restaurant within 10min of your house, it's worth visiting. I imagine the person cooking refers to himself as a chef. I can assure you he's the only person doing that. Beer selection is descent for a place in Piedmont. Very friendly staff. Food is just that bad.

I have eaten here 3 times so far and enjoyed the food each time. I thought the prices were above average for the quality/quantity received but not exorbitantly so. The wait staff is about the same as anywhere else. They were able to accommodate our large party each time and I love the nostalgia of the building. The shrimp 'n grits were great!

Steak was cooked perfectly to order. My wife really enjoyed the shrimp. It was well worth the trip to Piedmont.

Food and service is alwaus mediocre. . Plus they are always slow. Wait staff acts as if they have no clue sometimes. Prices or average except for the Sunday brunch, which is over priced for this area. The atmosphere is great as well the location. This place could be a real gem if the management took the time to look at the details.

Nice place and location. An accumulation of things presented a poor experience. Went with 4 other people, before 7pm they ran out of 1 of their popular dishes (shrimp and grits), waitress not the friendliest, but maybe posed at poor management planning, Rob eye steaks were delivered cold. Asked waitress "what the chef liked to cook the most" i got an honest but disappointing answer, "what ever is quick". Looked forward to getting key lime pie, but waitress never asked us if we wanted dessert and just delivered check. So we left. Biggest observed problem was poor management leading to poor attitudes of employees. Not worth a follow up trip until something drastic is done.

This restaurant has a lot of charm and a great selection of food. The staff was friendly and the service was good. I ordered shrimp and grits and really enjoyed it. Hubby had frog legs. He said they were really good as well. My portion was so large that I brought home most of it. The seating is limited though and it was very busy. I would suggest trying this restaurant out on a week night. Apparently there is a popular Sunday Brunch too.

This restaurant is located in an old mill along the Saluda river in Piedmont. If you blink you might miss it. They currently don't have a website but do have a Facebook page that is updated for their evening specials and Sunday brunch. Starting off with the appetizers the Fried Green Tomatoes ($6) are crispy and topped with pimento cheese and red pepper sauce. I'd prefer them without the pimento cheese which overpowers the delicate tomatoes underneath. The Steamed Mussels are my favorite ($9). A generous portion of steamed mussels in a white wine butter sauce with scallions and toasted bread points. After you finish off these délicate creatures you'll enjoy the broth as a side soup all on its own. I've already asked the staff to consider this as an option. All of the sale dressings are made in house and they make the best ranch dressing I've ever had. The shrimp 'n' grits ($17) are popular and the couple of times I've had them I take the leftover grits home to use in breakfast the next morning. No lack of shrimp here but the gravy they use for the grits is almost a sausage gravy you would expect on top of biscuits. The meat selection though is what keeps me coming back. The Filet Mignon ($19) is around 9 oz and always cooked to my liking. The Prime Rib ($17 for 10 oz, $19 for 14 oz) is a thick cut juicy slab of meat. My only problem is no horseradish or au jus to go along with it but is is flavorful on its own. Better act quickly they usually sell out. The Key Lime Pie is enough for two people to share and is one of the best I've had. Ford's Oyster Bar in Greenville and The Lobster House in Cozumel are thé only places I've had better. It's made with a graham cracker crust and a true key lime custard that is delicate and decadent. Saluda River Grill is worth the drive from Greenville and Easley. Just Google the location first so you don't get lost. A truly great off the beaten path find.

The pasta was overcooked, almost to mush. They added cheese when I asked for no cheese, and the sauce that came with the undercooked veggies and pasta lacked flavor... Any flavor. I had a simple pasta dish that was not given a fair chance to shine... Very disappointing. The accompanying salad was iceberg lettuce and a couple of tomatoes with what tasted like store bought balsamic vinaigrette. I expected so much more from this place. Sadly, I won't be back

I was pretty sure I reviewed Saluda River Grill but even looking through the filtered reviews I'm not seeing it. So this will have to be off memory and a shortened review. Location is nice and the building it's self is pretty cool. Nice decor. It took a little bit of time for someone to greet us and seat us. I think there was only 2 other tables seated at the time. So no real excuse for them being too busy. Was seated by a nice window high top and nice view. Waitress quickly came to our table to take our orders. Again coming from memory as it was several months ago that we went here. We ordered an app of loaded potatoes, fries or something along those lines. Dinners were a special that was run for the day, had pork, chicken and maybe fish I'm thinking. I ordered the shrimp and grits. App arrived in a timely manner and was pretty good. Meals came and this is where it all went down hill. The lack of seasoning and flavor was the biggest issue. Shrimp and grits had no real taste at all. It was beyond bland. The dinner special was hardly eatable. The gravy on the pork had a very odd, and not in a good way flavor. All the meats were dry and flavorless. I think it would be a great place to go and hang out at the bar for a drink or two but dinner, not so much.

Very cool building in a sup rising place. I had heard this place was great so we gave it a try this weekend. First off, the wait staff seems to need training. Our waitress, who was new so I will give her that, had no clue what the bar had in stock. We ordered various drinks, nothing abnormal, and were repeatedly told they did not have that at the bar...only after walking over to ask the bartender. Not once did this happen, not twice, but three times! Maybe it was not her fault, maybe management needs to expand the bar selection. Anyway, we looked past that. Ordered appetizers (mussels) which were delicious and delivered relatively timely..after two other appetizers were delivered to our table incorrectly. Main course was delicious and served at proper temperature (prime rib) but again, only after the incorrect order was attempted to be delivered to our table...twice. While my meal was outstanding, my wife was not all that impressed with hers (grouper) as she said it lacked flavor of any kind. Overall, menu selection good, food was good - not great - but service was just blah. I will give our waitress credit she was sweet and tried her best, but management failed her due to poor training...in my opinion. I will go back but not ready to recommend just yet. I need to see what another visit brings.
