Food was terrific. Had the quesadilla appetizers. Full of flavor, nice sized portion. Ate dinner here on a Friday night. The place was very noisy. It is a pub after all. Entrees were delicious. I had the jambalaya and was not disappointed. Waitress was Ok. She forgot a few things a couple of times, but it was no big deal. Rest rooms were not well kept. Needs updating. If I could give 3.5 stars I would. The waitress was friendly and nice, just a little forgetful. Establishment was indeed noisy, but maybe I should expect that seeing that it is a pub. The bathrooms are pretty bad. More suited for a bar rather than a restaurant. I saw the men's room, but my wife said the ladies wasn't that great either.

We are weekend regulars at the Islander. Definitely a positive, local feel and great food - especially the Cobb salad, burgers and the sesame salmon dish. Blue cheese dressing here is awesome as well. We like sitting at the bar, but it is popular and always crowded!

Great pub-- this place serves great food and cold beers in nice clean mugs (unlike the Backstreet Pub). The restrooms are clean and the people that work there are friendly.

Awesome Wings. Good food overall. A local hang out spot. Bar is always full. Owners seems very nice. Thanks for the great double dipped wings

The Islander is definitely Pendleton's local bar. You'll find the locals in the large booths and second-story dinning room for karaoke, happy hour, lunch, dinner and late-night drinking. Not many college students around besides some graduate students living in the area. Smoking is allowed on the bar side, so it's pretty smoky throughout and popular for smokers. You'll want to leave your clothes on the doorstep once you realize how badly they reek. Beer is reasonably priced with happy hour specials from 5-7pm and they have a full bar for shots and liquor drinks. Beers on tap are mostly (if not exclusively) big-name American beers. The menu is pretty variable and extensive, including veggie burgers, poboys (good luck finding oysters, but they always have shrimp), wings, and the typical bar fare. Entrees are priced around $8-10. Their menu is varied enough to leave options for the 10th, 20th and 30th time you visit, though you'll likely have found your favorites by then.

Best double dipped wings in town and the peanut butter pie is amazing..

Service a little slow at lunch, ordered a philly and it was nothing special. Not a lot on it. Waitress was nice, good place to stop but wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

Iama Critic Rating - Islander Pub and Grill - 4 Stars 134 Exchange Street, Pendleton, SC Overall: Reviewing little landmark mom and pop restaurants like the Islander Pub and Grill is always hard on a good critic. On one hand these sorts of restaurants can sometimes turn out to be the greatest restaurants. On the other hand, if they are not good, a well published restaurant critic can hurt the business so fast they do not have time to fix their flaws. But there is no such worries with the Islander Pub and Grill, because not only are they simply fabulous, but there isn't much they need to fix. From the fascinating decor, to the one page menu of delectable choices, the Islander is a rock solid dinning experience. The only minute thing that stands out as even slightly odd is that the menu by no means limits itself to "Islander" food. There are choices from Arizona, Louisiana, the Keys and even Mexico. It seems the Islander simply takes the best of whatever region it wants and blends it into their eclectic menu. It is a quirk and I like it! $1.95 - Side Salad - 3 Stars This side salad is a decent price and with the inclusion of bacon it is also a step up from the average. Made without any iceberg and coming with a very good greet dressing. But it cried out for more tomato. $6.95 - Southwest Eggroll - 4 Stars How a southwest eggroll makes it onto the menu of a restaurant called the Islander is beyond me, but who gives a hoot. These eggrolls were simply great. However the price causes them to lose a star as you only receive three eggrolls, and that is a bit pricey in comparison to other restaurants. I always wince when restaurants cut their egg rolls in half, it means you are about to pay more for less. . $4.95 - Seafood Gumbo - 4 Stars Finally, a restaurant that knows what a "bowl" of gumbo is. Not only is the bowl itself a decent size, but the gumbo was very good. As good as some gumbos in New Orleans, but there is something off in the flavor. The meats and veggies are spot on and the spices are great, but something is off slightly in the sauce. Maybe it is the lack of any okra, which I thought was sorta required for gumbo. At least it is in the bayou. $14.95 - Ole Louise Jambalaya - 4 Stars Wow, this is a pretty big price for Jambalaya. The most I ever paid for good Jambalaya was $16.00 and it was huge and flawless. However this Jambalaya is very chunky with really nice size shrimp, andouille sausage and even scallops! Scallops, what and awesome addition! It is almost perfect, but it is just a little too small for the price. Whenever I see these big rimmed bowls headed to my table I know they are trying to make up for something. But I would still order this fabulous Jambalaya in a minute, because the only Jambalaya better than this is about 250 miles away, or at my house. $15.95 - Captains Platter - 4 Stars This entree came with four perfect fried oysters, a slightly uncooked but fabulous flounder fillet, four perfect broiled scallops, mixed vegetables and a very nice piece of toasted bread. It tastes as wonderful as it looks in the picture. But it only comes with one side and I so wanted a baked potato AND veggies for $16.00. Final Thoughts: Islander Pub and Grill is providing near perfect grub, no doubt about it, and the only thing holding that fifth star back is the price. But in today's sink or swim restaurant market, restaurants are failing right and left, as they try to figure out what the dining public wants. But the Islander lives on, having already figure out what its customer want. If I were local I would be a local regular at the Islander, because the food is simply that good. Sure I can almost always find something wrong in the best of restaurants, but the regulars are happy, the tourists are happy, and I am happy, so what's there not to love?
