We really enjoyed our food at J Peters. I ordered a fried fish sandwich and crab soup. My husband ordered a burger and we got an order of croissants as an appetizer. The kids got a mac and cheese to share. My fish was delicious! It was perfectly fried and seasoned and the French fries were pretty good. My husband was very impressed with his burger. Our platters were massive! We both had plenty of food to take home. The croissants were fluffy and delicious, drizzled with honey. My soup was okay... It didn't have much flavor, but it was LOADED with crab meat, which was awesome. I wasn't impressed with the kids dish at all, unfortunately. I honestly believe that it was just boxed mac and cheese and it cost $5.99! Our waiter was not very pleasant. I don't think he smiled once and he seemed annoyed by us being there. The host was perfect though. I would definitely go back, but I don't think I'd bring the kids.

Fantastic food, great service (Russell was our waiter) and excellent value. We went for the early bird special and everyone loved their food. Two salmon and two fried shrimp platters, all of generous portions and very fresh. There was also a children's cheeseburger that was juicy and flavorful (my kid has suffered a lot of bland, dry kid's burgers, this was very good). No review is complete without mention of the house bread with honey butter, which I am now craving. Looking forward to going back and expect this will become a standard on our annual visit to the in-laws (who are already regulars).

Disappointed. Had high hopes. Phoned in a take out order and was told 20 minutes. Arrived and after 30 minutes was offered "a free water" for having to wait so long. Food was mediocre. Tuna was way overlooked and tough. Not very friendly staff. Too many other great places to eat in Pawleys. Quigley's next door or is much, much better!

We are locals who eat out at least 5 times a week. We were very excited when this place opened and were one of the first people in the door. We give local places 3 chances to decide if they will be one of our main "go-to" places long term. After our most recent 3rd visit... J Peters has struck out. Our first two visits went the same. A wait followed by a cluster of errors on the part of the wait staff. Both our entrees were prepared incorrectly and had poor over seasoned taste. It was long and excruciating to be there. For our 3rd try we decided to walk in at mid afternoon as we live right down the road and just try burgers. We arrived to an empty building with a "hostess" that didn't look up for at least 15 seconds and looked angry to be there or to see customers or both. We were seated and ordered our burgers with high hopes. After a 15 minute wait they came out. Both had cold buns. Here's the main thing: on both our plates are 1 small, thin sliced yellow/orange mealy tomato and a rancid looking piece of what we think was romaine the size of 4 quarters. What there was of the lettuce looked like it was from the bottom of a garbage disposal. Obviously I tell the waiter whoever checked our order needs to look again. I said if you can't get a fresh red tomato in South Carolina in the summer there is a problem. He returned with new produce which was passable but still tasted mealy and thin. Final straw was as we were eating a woman I assume was a manager came over and asked if everything was fine. We said no and walked her through the story. She looked drearily at us as I'm sure she intended the question to be rhetorical, and said "oh, ok" then walked away as if in a haze without any apology. So, from a local who spends a LOT of money eating out, you may fool the tourists, but not us. We hope whoever is in that building after you are gone does better.

This place was great. Walked over from the Hampton Inn. Wings, Quesadilla and brownie sundae was amazing. Portions are great, service was excellent. Very reasonable place to eat!!!

This is one of our favorite spots near Litchfield Resort. You can get a cold Sweatwster IPA. The burgers and prime rib sandwich are top notch. The restaurant is a casual place fine for kids or a seat at the bar.

I was very disappointed in this place. I ordered mild wings and a grilled chicken salad. Pretty easy choices right? Well, the wings were so tough the meat would not come off the bone and they barely had any flavor. I have never had wings so tough. As for my salad... the chicken tasted old.. again, tough. I really cannot describe the texture of this chicken as I have never experienced it before. To top it all off, at the end of the meal I decided to take the salad home to at least salvage the rest of the ingredients the next day. But when the server put it in a box, a piece of chicken fell on the table. She proceeded to PICK up the chicken with her bare fingers and put it in the box. Gross! Not to mention against I'm sure several health code violations. I assure you, I will not eat at this establishment again.
