OK. These negative reviews are hilarious! Especially the gift exchange one where the Mount Plastic girl didn't even know the name of the pizza joint she went to after her disappointing Sparrow trip. It's EVO and it continually wins accolades from the Charleston City Paper. Here's the news flash, people. The Sparrow IS a dive bar. It's dark and funky with great air conditioning and an awesome staff. Cami and Robbie are super people and all of my friends love them, too. They have pinball machines, a pool table and a stage. The weekend usually has live music. Mostly punk or metal from what I've seen. They even do a live comedian show on Monday. This is the thing. It's Park Circle. It's not downtown or Mount Plastic or Scummerville. It's an extremely laid back, down to earth and unique town and the Sparrow is the same. I've lived in the Circle for 7 years. I'm not a touron. The Sparrow is a great place!

Cool, bohemian bar; authentically divey without the grime. I was here for a special cabaret event, not sure what a usual night is like but I'd be interested to check it out. Service was decent and the mixed drinks were fine.

This place has more games and seems "updated" since I've been last. I dig. For several reasons, I like this hole-in-the-wall.

Sparrow offers a unique experience that compliments the Park Circle area well. It is a bar without judgement or selectivity. From lesbians to geeks, all are welcome in this haven. The walls are filled with morals from a local to Bill Murray to Gandhi. There are Star Wars ships dangling and a pool table, pinball machines and a stage all around. The bar is small and always filled with smokers right outside the door. There is plenty of private and street parking and a full service bar. Often on a crowded night they may be under staffed and drinks take some patience. Overall, a good watering hole. Beware, they do a lot of random theme nights.

One of my favorite hole in the wall bars in Park Circle. Has a bit of a cult following. Inside has old school pinball machines!!! pool tables, few high chair seats and bar seating. Beer selection is diverse - tap and bottle, which is a nice change. The walls have great murals on them, love the millenium falcon hanging from the ceiling in the bar area. They have live bands there just about every weekend, burlesque shows from time to time, and other live entertainment. Definitely recommend popping in there for a beer and some pinball if you visit Park Circle.

One of my favorite places in Chucktown... Oh yes, I said it. The atmosphere is laid back and the beer selection is good. I had the pleasure to geek out with the staff members a few times and they were fun. Well priced and conveniently located- Tons of parking. The art work is also very unique for a city like Charleston. Respectfully, Isaac

Small dark hole with a bar , a few tall tables , and a pool table. I would have enjoyed playing pool and a drink had I had received a more friendly reception , but all I got was ice, ice baby. I was reading 4 other great reviews and I just didn't see or feel it. This newcomer didn't feel included and I've always been one to get along with most anyone from all walks of life. Noone greeted us when we walked in and the place is small enough and there wasn't but a few people. Funny I argued with my b/ friend prior to going in and said I didn't want to go in and would sit in the car. I grudgingly went in and kept saying maybe you need to go to the bar and get a drink cos noone is asking to help us. After about 10 minutes, he finally agreed to leave. A woman's hunch about places is right on again! If you fly straight as an arrow..stay out of the path of the sparrow.

Good place to wait if going somewhere in the old part of North Charleston. Great atmosphere. Love the murals. The bartenders we have had(been twice) have been so-so. Not bad but could be a little more outgoing. We go to Cork every few months and if early try to go to this place. Compared to any of the other spots there it is fabulous! Dig in the park may be a little better if perfect weather but otherwise, this is the place to go.

I met a group of friends here for a gift exchange and was VERY disappointed. The members who had visited made it seem like this place was phenomenal. I don't mind the inside being a dive bar or their strange (to me) decor. I DO mind a poorly executed and still expensive beverage. I chose to order an Amaretto Sour and it was definitely not up to par. I was not even spoken to by the staff, so I can't say if they are a great group of people or not. I definitely will not be returning. Luckily, there was a pizza place across the way, so we left and went over there. Much better!

Definitely divey. I went here with a group of girls, and I'm not really into bars at all really. Like others, I wasn't greeted when I came in and I didn't really feel it. It's dark inside but there's some neat artwork on the walls.

Ok so now I understand all the bad reviews. I have been here for a few hours and this place is pretty lame. The service is one bartender who should be able to take care of all the customers needs but it seems like he is more interested in just doing nothing than taking care of your needs. Not to mention he never talks to the customers. Pretty lame for a bartender.

Still solid on service. Limited. Menu. You got dogs and some crazy apps. The manwich sliders were very good. Believe it. Or not...
