Steak’n Shake Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

This place is trashed. Walked in at 4:15 on a Saturday and tons of dirty tables and servers just talking to each other walking around. Every table has dirty dishes and of the empty tables not one is being cleaned. We walk in and no one is interested in cleaning a table for us to sit at. As it is we stood at the front for 5 minutes waiting for a hostess to clean a table and seat is in a Resturant with 7 empty tables. Once we did sit it still takes 10 minutes for our server to come take our order. This food is not good enough to wait 15 minutes to get. Wish I could post all the photos I took of the nastiness.

I have gone to this Steak n Shake a couple times now... I decided to give it a couple tries because I have been to other Steak n Shakes out-of-state and have enjoyed the atmosphere and food. The North Charleston Steak n Shake however.... I don't think I will be going back. The food is reasonably priced but the service is terrible and the place is ALWAYS FREEZING COLD inside. They had the AC on in January! After having to ask our server twice if they could turn it off we finally got up and told the person at the counter that we were leaving if they did not turn the AC off, because it was blowing right on our table when it was already in the 40s outside. They finally turned it off. Tthe service was unreasonably slow. We sat for several long periods of time between waiting on our server. While we were in there... there were several tables around the restaurant that sat with dirty dishes on them from the time that we walked in the door until the time that we left. Looked dirty and trashy. I know it's North Charleston, but come on.

Honestly, what do you expect from a place that can sell you a burger, fries, and a giant milkshake for less than 8 bucks? Whatever it is, you're right. There's nothing wrong with steak and shake. Greasy low quality burger - check! Cheapo fries - check! A huge calorie filled milkshake - check! Don't go here expecting anything special in the taste category - its better than your run of the mill McDonalds, but if you've ever had a steak burger before its just the same as that. They do offer many types of toppings for your burger which is cool, and you obviously can't beat the price. As far as fastfood burgers go, this is pretty good for whats available around here (It's no in-n-out, Culver's, or Freddie's though!) Head here with the kids after an exhausting day running errands and you'll leave happy.

I have enjoyed an occasional SNS since 1964. This place is mostly staffed with slow moving, non caring and untrained staff. I would guess it is in the mold of the manager who didnt seem a capable of providing for a pleasant restaurant experience . Watch out for over salted burgers..

  • Dusty M.

This review is based mainly on the poor service at this SNS. The food and prices at SNS are great. I would've given them 5 stars because I've never had problems with their food. The problem with this location is the poor service. There's always a long wait given its the only one in Charleston, good job SNS, not! Twice they've screwed up my order at this place and it's been the same mistake both times. I always order a cup of chili and they always fail to bring it out. How hard is it to bring out a cup of chili, apparently it's a difficult task. They know how to put it on the bill, but the science of bringing it to the table baffles them. The wait staff aren't attentive at all. There's not a hustle and bustle mentality with them, hence the dirty tables that sit for long periods of time while the line is out the door to be seated. Clean the freakn tables, sit the customers down and one last thing, stop forgetting my chili.

Great Food and service is good ! Love the fries too, can pick my favor for them and the shakes are great! Just wish they had wifi :(

  • Timothy A.

The wait was typical for the time of night, but it was the wait once we were sitting that I had issue with ... two small hungry kids do not have patience for excessive amounts of time prior to the order ... we ordered shakes with our meal too and the shakes came out 10 minutes before the food, and those were intended to be dessert ... not that any of us minded, but we teach our kids that dinner comes before dessert :-)

All I wanted was a milkshake But lazy slack teenagers made me just wait And wait and wait and other people got served Until I realized wait a second I got here first I asked hey yo where's my shake at? She said I don't know I'll be right back She didn't come back so I asked the other guy He said dunno bro and didn't say why I was like cmon babe let's blow this joint Their food is fake and sucks a lot but that's not the point If I can't get service on a shake in a place called Steak and Shake Burger King is better 'cuz at least I won't wait So I said lemme have my money back She said I need to get a manager to help with that He came out started hitting keys with his BANG hand Slapping himself in his head just like Rain Man He's running the shop But can't manage to pop The drawer open to give me a few dollars and change, man! Dude muttered something about sorry this happened Don't care if you're sorry 'bout this crap and If you really wanted me to come back You'd hook me up with the thing that I still lack: A mint chocolate chip milkshake And the 25 minutes that I forsake Waiting for you and your staff to make The one thing your shop does besides steak

Contrary to my own beliefs, I had never been to Steak & Shake in the past. They had one in Myrtle when I lived there and I somehow came under the assumption that I had been. Then I lived with that assumption for the past 8 years or so. Recently a friend of mine from up north was driving through town and stopped to meet up. He raved about how they stopped at a Steak & Shake on the way into town and how they were thrilled with how awesomely cheap it was. I replied with "oh... yeah, I've been there... back when I was in Myrtle". Now I realize though, I was lying to myself, and others about ever having been to Steak & Shake and I only realized that when I walked in the door of this one. In my mind, I always equated it to a Friendly's (Northerners will understand) or even a Johnny Rockets without the roller skates. I was way off. It's really more of a full service fast food restaurant, at least based on the quality of the food and price. I had the Bacon Lovers Burger and it was definitely bacon-ofied. The flavored fry options are pretty interesting and the salt and vinegar was a surprise win in my book. The milkshakes were huge and I enjoyed mine. I only wish they would have more than vanilla ice cream. I know they offer flavors but, they're all vanilla mixed with chocolate or strawberry or whatever to make the flavor. It's not the same.

I came to dine in. They had me seated at bar. The service for food took a little bit long I guess because it was lunch time, rush hour. I got Jamaican double steak burger that really tasted good. However on the downside fries were really tiny it was hard to pick them up. I will be back to try their shakes. Got numerous of them

I downloaded the app. When I went to pay the cashier wouldn't let me use the $2.99 reward for the milkshake. The food meh. I got the avocado burger and fries with no salt. The burger was ok but super small "where's the beef?" My fries came out with salt and the waitress actually said fries no salt! I didnt even get the milkshake until I was done eating and ready to leave. Don't waste your time with this place. Keep driving and head to bk or mcd. At least they will get your order right.

We dined in around 2 pm on a Tuesday afternoon and the place was busy (between xmas and nye). After a few minutes, we were seated, and after an uncomfortably long wait we were greeted by a server. At this point, we knew what we were having, so the three of us placed our milkshake and burger orders at once. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time, and was pretty good. Definitely a decent value for the price. My biggest gripe is that we were halfway done our meals and our milkshakes still hadn't been brought out. We had to ask for them to go, because we had an appointment to catch. And once we had them, the milkshakes were alright, but nothing special. So the service was crap, the shakes were average, the food good, and the price was great.

Did you ever just want a good burger and a shake like in Pulp Fiction, well this is it. I wish they had dancers and singing. However, a good escape from McDonalds. Very inexpensive, ok service, but hey, it's a burger place. My wife and I got away wit a $12.12 bill, did you get that? Good place to bring the kids. Fries are the tiny ones, very good. Order double on the burgers, since they are small patties. Shakes are to die for. Go, live, love...it's cheap, and fills you up. Frank G

The food was great and filling but you don't feel like you've had to much. It's just a cool place to be man. Seriously. Oh and they're open 24/7. The shakes are pretty tasty too and they're served in a chilled glass which is bangin'. Here's some bad things though... It's kinda maybe just a little frickin' loud sometimes. Oh and the floors are greased with some sort of people repellant. You don't walk to your seat, you skate there.

I used to be a huge Steak N Shake fan. They were few and far between, but when I'd come across one in my travels or when I'd see their billboards on the interstate, I'd stop. The last couple of experiences I've had have made me reconsider though. At this location and others, food has been sloppily prepared, 'custom' orders (like no whipped cream, not anything complicated!) have been ignored, service has been extremely slow, and I've just generally been displeased. After today's Turtle Caramel Nut milkshake that all the Caramel dumped in the bottom, no nuts, whipped cream where there should have been none, and tasted like freezer burned vanilla ice cream..... If I want a shake or burger from now on, I'll go to Cook Out.

First off i have dined at this restaurant many times and I must say that I wasn't disappointed that much. My main issue here is the drive thru service at this location is the worst in the entirety of the universe. .I have no problem with the fact that they cook the items to order, that itself is awesome but I do belive that they should come up with a concept like chic fil a where they allow their drive thru patrons to order in the back of the line then you pay in the middle of the line and then by the time they get to the window their food is ready. . This steak and shake is ghetto and they always forget one of the following straws, napkins or utensils I don't understand it because every time I get to the window there's like thirty employees standing around talking or playing. .not good at all and the food itself is sub par.

WORST hostess ever! At 3:30 in the afternoon on a Thursday we waited for over 10 minutes for a server to take our order. The restaurant was half full at best. We watched 3 other tables that came in after us have their orders taken and get their drinks. Finally had to go to the hostess and ask for a server. "Oops!" Apparently she forgot that she sat us. Seriously, hire a chimpanzee... I like Steak 'n Shake but this location is awful; customers hovering by the door for 15-20 minutes waiting to be seated while several tables are empty, servers that look bored and robotic, trash and food on the floor near the register, not to mention waiting 30 minutes for 2 burgers & fries. My server did make me feel special though; in the short time it took me to order she called me 'baby', 'precious', 'darlin', 'sweetie' and 'my love'. Maybe I'll go back just for the sweet-talk!

This place is ok, the biggest plus about it being that it's open 24 hours. Their fries and burgers are good, the milkshakes are so so. This location can be a little slow so be prepared to wait, though the trade off for slow seems to be accuracy because they have never gotten my order wrong, which makes the waiting worth while. Staff is always friendly and the place always seems pretty clean.

I'm a fan of Steak 'n Shake but I've honestly been to much better ones in the past. After being seated by the host who seemed really confused as to what he was doing, we waited a solid 10 minutes before anyone came over to take our drink order. Was the place busy? No. I counted at least 5 different servers over by the counter. I'm not sure if they were having a meeting or just chatting, but we sat there for awhile and watched them before one finally ran over to help us. When we finally did get service, she was friendly enough, but she did mess up order a bit. My strawberry-banana milkshake was very tasty but not well blended. My garlic burger was good but my boyfriend didn't seem very thrilled with his Jamaican burger. All in all I would say that the food is quick but average and the service is poor. Definitely not the Steak 'n Shake I remember.

Went in last night to get two shakes. Service was horrible. Had to wait over twenty minutes for them to not make them. Complained and asked for my money back. Today I see that I was charged twice. They also have no working numbers to call back and complain.

First time trying Steak n Shake and we will definitely go back. The only problem is there is so much on the menu, it is hard to decide what to order. The drive thru workers were fast and friendly. The burgers were really good for a fast food place. The fries are shoestring and good while they are hot- they have different seasonings you can request for them so that is a little different than other places. Of course, the oreo milkshake hit the spot.

Went to dine in with my family of 4. Weekends are kids eat free!!!! Which is about a $3 per kid savings. We were a short waiting list #5 and told that it would be a 15-20 min wait. Which is reasonable. It was more like 50 min wait to be seated. Our waitress was nice and she took our drink order right away and brought it right out. I ordered water and its taste like filtered water!!! +++ Definitely a ++++ for me it didn't taste like the bottom of the Ashley River. My husband and I ordered a triple burger with everything on it but cheese. (tomatoes, onion, pickles mustard. (no ketchup for me) Which was not bad at all. It was pretty good (mouth heaven) I had the greasy onion rings (too greasy) and my husband and kids had the French fries. (more like salty pik nik potato sticks) I ordered a side of chili because we always enjoy chili. It turned out to be a sodium fiesta bowl of chili. It was way to salty. (I think Wendy's makes a better fast food chili). I ordered a mocha shake it was a little on the sweet side. (I'm not a sweet tooth). My husband ordered the strawberry banana which was delicious!!!! It was actually made with fresh bananas and fresh strawberries. My children shared a chocolate shake and loved it. (my daughter said she was Chocolate wasted ). Over all its ok. No big wow factor. Worth waiting for the crowds to die down (8pm on Sundays) with all the hype. Worth getting your $4 triple burger

Preface: I am not sure of the Steak 'N Shake map of restaurants in the country, but I was under the impression that they were few (or fewer) SNS restaurants in the South. I am from the North, and generally like SNS. This SNS is is a prime location, and most times I drive by it is out the door with people, however, it needs help. Something here is off...maybe it just hasn't "settled in" yet, but the food nor service has been great. Not terrible, just nothing to write home about. The burgers here were just not the best from a SNS that I've had. The shakes seemed fine-pretty standard, but like I said, I'm not a big fan of this one. Also, the last time we ordered 3 shakes, we waiting in the drive-thru for 45 minutes. I will give you that probably 15 of that was getting to the order window, but I am sure it was better than 25 from ordering to shakes in hand. And then the shakes given to us were not ours. Not a big deal-it happens, but I feel like I could have been home and made a shake with a blender faster.

For less than $5 you can get a decent, quick, sit down burger meal (assuming the hype dies down and people stop lining up to wait for a table). I would not advise going during normal lunch hours while this place is still the new "cool spot" in Charleston and the wait times can extend to over an hour, even in the drive thru. Ate here late. We walked right in and sat down. Friendly service and the food was out in the amount of time you would for 2 burgers and a shake. Nothing fancy here, but the burgers have good flavor and are cooked on a flat top grill. Fries are floppy shoe strings but are not overly greasy and taste fine. My milkshake was MASSIVE and had great flavor. I will get one again, but likely avoid the brownie as it was a bit rich for my taste. I don't think I've ever seen this before, but the food that came out looked almost IDENTICAL to the picture on the menu. Pretty neat actually.

Busy, busy, busy!! Be careful of when you go, because this small location fills up quickly-both indoors and even the drive-thru. For what it is, a basic burger and fries type diner, it's pretty good! Nothing to write home about or pin sparkly medals on its doors....but, eh, it's good! In my humble opinion, the best part is the thin fries and a side of the cheese dip! You of course have the basic steak burger and lots of milkshake options! Kids eat free on weekends. Free airplane (you're right across the street-ish from the airport) watching for said kids dining freely. For the selection of restaurants around Tanger, this is definitely not the worst choice you could make....there's even a happy hour with half price shakes! Again-overall just decent! I'm from the north, so I've had my share of Steak and Shake experience, and I've definitely had better than this particular location. I'll go back though! No real complaints!

Tried this place a second time after a disappointing experience the first time around. Service was much better thanks to great service from Vanessa. I was impressed that when I ordered a shake, she asked if I wanted a glass of water also. I always have to ask for water from servers and shakes and ice cream make you thirsty and need washing down The double steakburger with cheese was good and fries crisp. And the chocolate classic shake is a good size and was mixed well, but not too thick to sip through a straw. Much better shake than last time where the chocolate syrup was not mixed well and made the shake tart-tasting. I had ordered a small size before, so maybe the regular larger sizes are better mixed? The only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars is that I waited awhile to get checked out and I was the only one up there waiting. For some reason noone was at the two registers to check out. Good variety of menu selection for a fast food burger type restaurant. I hear the chili over spaghetti is great. I would said ouch if your carb/calorie conscious but this place would be a good occasional treat .

After a long long delay in flights, my husband and I arrived in Charleston around 11pm. We were ravenous and found this place close to the airport. It is a sit down diner-esq feeling. Everything is so inexpensive! I got the taco salad (OK) and my husband got a cheeseburger. It is OK, nothing spectacular. The food is equivalent to fast food.

This place hit the spot. I don't eat burgers very often, but I was in the mood for one yesterday. I went inside, and even though they were quite busy I got a seat pretty quickly. The service was surprisingly quick despite the crowd, and the server was very polite and friendly. The food was good. It actually looked a lot like what was shown in the menu, and the price was also great for how much food I actually got. The burger was flavorful and juicy, and I was pleased that they'd actually managed to get my order right and leave off the mayo since it really was super busy there. Next time I'll have to be sure to order a shake because those looked great too whenever I saw someone pass by me with one. They've definitely committed to their theme of the 1950's dinner sort of experience. You can see it in the decor and the uniforms and the shapes of the glasses as well. You don't see that kind of devotion to a theme in most casual dining restaurants, so it was just a bit nice to have really carried through with it. I'll definitely be going back next time I'm in the mood for a burger.

I stopped by late (11pm) last night for a quick bite to eat, not really knowing what to expect. I was greeted by a friendly young lady with a terrific smile. The place wasn't crowded at that time but from the looks of the tables, it looked as if I had just missed a rush of customers. I had a double cheeseburger with bacon and an order of fries. It wasn't bad, better than what I had expected. Service was good for the most part. The place was clean for the most part, other than the tables that needed to be cleared. The folks who work there seemed to be very friendly and efficient. With the dining room being open 24 hours I will probably be back for the occasional late night dinner.

I was in a hurry so I chose the drive thru and ordered a Chicago dog. In the dog's defense, it was loaded with goodies and scrumptious, but by the time I waited 20 minutes in the drive thru (at 1pm on a Tuesday), I had to scarf it down in less than 5 minutes because I was so late and couldn't fully enjoy its splendor. I wish I'd had time to get a shake too, because I don't have a SNS in my city and that saddens me. Work on your speed, and I'll gladly update my review!

It's a hit and miss with customer service and I've been here 3 times. The hostess didn't say one word and not even a smile. So unfriendly. She seated us then turned around and chatted it up to another employee. The waitress was super friendly however and made the rest of our experience more pleasant. The prices are great and kids always have a good time. They just need to work on their customer service for sure.

I was really happy to eat at a Steak n Shake. Food was good as it usually is, but I wasn't too thrilled on much else. Vanessa the server was sweet and did well. Manager was a bit of a jerk to his employees in some of things I overheard him say hence my 3 stars. I shouldn't have heard that.

I used to love the N. Chuck Steak & Shake when it first opened. It felt like a really well managed restaurant and the servers were super attentive and nice. "Need a to go cup honey?". Big bonus that the food was good and really cheap as well. We always left thinking "how can it be this good for this price?!" Well - Those days are over. I've had better meals and friendlier service at my miserable HS cafeteria. The place is kept so freekin' freezing (Mr. Bigglesworth) that you're too cold to get up and complain to the waitress that forgot you're alive (they're busy sitting in a scrum at the counter chatting away). When your food shows up - The burgers look like they flattened a bit of meat until they created the widest - thinnest burger possible without using PlayDoh. And the handful of their really thin fries were placed on our plates by someone with a baby hand. Sucked all around. Plus - We had to go out for dinner after we ate here for dinner. Steer clear (pun - get it?)!!

If i could give this place negative star's I would. This place is grose the area behind the grills are filled with greese dirt and food. When I approached the management about this issue I asked when the last time these grills were cleaned behind I was told that is is not cleaned because that area is hot and it is a employee safty issue because the area is so hot, and they are a 24hour restaurant so the can't turn off the grills. So in not so many words they are to busy 24-7 to clean the place that your food is cooked on. If you go here walk up to the cash register and look near the grill it's nasty

Much better visit today!! Even with a long line, I was out of there in about 15 minutes. The girl at the drive thru was very professional and polite and my order was exactly as I ordered.

Burgers were good, however we watched our milkshakes sit on the counter for over 15 mins and most of them were watery and did not have milkshake characteristics. Mostly blame on the service rather than last time we went to a Steak N Shake and didn't get the milkshakes until we were ready to leave. Rule of thumb if you're getting milkshakes go through drive thru.

The first time I came to this location was about 9/10 months ago when they first opened up. I wasn't impressed at all. I'm from St. Louis so we have a few SNS locations in the area and they are amazing. This one wasn't as good. However, about a month ago, I went back just to give them a second chance and OMG!! The food was amazing! I've been about 2/3 times a week since! A major upgrade from when they first opened up. All of the servers are very pleasant..even the hostess at the door. Today, I went and my server name was Taylor. Very sweet girl.. She was very friendly, consistent, and she made sure we had drinks on the table..without having to ask her. They get 5 stars from me!

Second time I tried ordering online and had to wait 20 minutes when I got there. It seems like a new concept to them that you can place an order and have it ready when you get there. I always arrive and they are surprised I made it even though they have a ticket with my order place 15 minutes ago. On my way out I was rudely told to move by an employee I felt my presence there was a bother to all the employees. Hope they fix the issue

I love steak and shake. When traveling I will detour just to find one, but the one in Tanger outlet has horrible service. I work at Boeing on third shift, so it's convenient to get there and it's open 24/7. The last 5 or six times I've been there have been customer service has been horrid. Example 1, I ordered a shake through the drive thru, the lady at the window made me feel really rushed and she didn't seem interested in her job at the time. I pulled around and the money was jerked out of my hand. The shame came and I asked for a spoon. She told me they don't carry spoons (what kind of shake place doesn't carry spoons?). So I pulled up and parked, went inside and asked for a spoon from the girl at the counter. She had a spoon. There must be separate spoons from the drive thru and from the counter. Example 2, I went to get a shake around lunchtime for third shift, the lady (different girl) at the drive thru said they don't have shakes for the night cause they were cleaning their shake machine. Now I know it doesn't take all night to clean a shake machine, but I said ok and orders and portobello and swiss insted. The lady seemed more interested in taking to her Co workers than making my burger. Apparently she forgot I was there came back to the window and asked me for money (I had already paid). She looked again and said "oh" then proceeded to make me the sloppiest burger I have ever gotten from there. I am very very displeased with the service at this one steak and shake. They should change the name to steak and shame. If the individuals didn't want to work those days they should of probably stayed home... or went to protest for 15 dollars and hour for fast food workers. I'll never go back to tanger outlet steak n shake.

Growing up in St. Louis, my mom used to bribe me with milkshakes from Steak 'n Shake for doing my chores without complaining. (Between those & two M&Ms contest wins, I narrowly missed early onset diabetes...) Because I'm pretty nostalgic at heart, I was happily surprised when I saw one had opened up in Charleston, & I may have possibly had high expectations. We were there on a very crowded Saturday. (There was even a waiting list at lunch time, which we later learned was probably due to kids eating free on weekends.) Luckily, since there were only 2 of us, we were seated in 5 minutes, & ordered our food pretty quickly. Our waitress was really nice, but it took a really long time to get our food (again, probably because of the crowds), & it ended up coming out a little cold. Still, if you're looking for some diner food after a concert at the coliseum, or a frozen treat after navigating the crowds at Tanger, it's worth a stop! Cheap prices & delicious shakes.

Steak and Shake earns 5 stars for finally bringing their chain to the Lowcountry, but only 1 star for choosing to locate their restaurant in the city of North Charleston. It's hard to enjoy a tasty burger and shoestring fries when there's a steady stream of bass music coming from the drive-thru line. We saw two separate verbal altercations during our meal, and it looked like number three was coming in the door as we left. Standard tipping rules of 15% apply, but aim for 20% if you manage to avoid seeing a shooting in the parking lot.

This was my first and probably LAST visit to this Steak N Shake location. My family of five went to lunch there after church on Sunday afternoon. We were told there would be a 15 minute wait-which was acceptable. As we waited, we watched empty tables remain dirty and uncleared while many customers sat waiting to be seated. No one was clearing tables and preparing them for waiting customers besides the inexperienced hostess who was also "greeting" customers. After 25 minutes, the "hostess" approached us and said they had no seats for our party. ???? What do you mean you can't accommodate a party of five??? That has NEVER happened to us at ANY restaurant EVER!! We left without a fuss because we had been noticing the slow service the other customers who were already seated was getting anyway. My husband did ask to speak to a manager before we left, but of course he was "too busy" to speak to customers. Very sad. In OUR opinion, from what we experienced, this is a VERY POORLY MANAGED location. Probably won't go back any time soon-if ever.

I stopped here for a super early lunch on the way to the airport as I already knew the food selection there is pretty nonexistent during the remodel. Service was friendly and quick as I was one of only 3 people there. The burger was pretty good. It filled me up but did not anything special for me. Visiting this restaurant kind of filled me as a been there done that kind of mood. If I happen by one I would give it a try again at least to try some of the other items on the menu.

I love steak and shake..... But this one sucks. We have been here for over an hour, while the staff sit around and speak Gullah geechee bullshit and flirt with each other Still no food... It's ridiculous. I've never given anything a bad review until now

Good food but hideous service. Could not even get a visit from a waitress after sitting there for 15 minutes this time. Food is not good enough to make up for that kind of service.

I was waiting on a milkshake at the bar and witnessed the kitchen staff opening the jug of chocolate syrup with his mouth. I left the milkshake and refuse to find out what happens in the areas of the kitchen that I can't see. Won't be eating at this Steak 'n Shake!

So my boyfriend and I were attempting to get food after a six hour day at the beach the lady was impatient as hell we kept telling her we needed a minute we had just pulled up then they flat out ignored us we drove off I will never come back here again every time my boyfriend brings home a burger it is burnt as well as the bread. Figures rude people and bad food no thanks, I've been to another one when we went to Illinois and it was fantastic and people were nice. This one is complete bullshit.

If there were a no star option, I would select it. Order is usually wrong, always wait 20 minutes, of the three times I have been..regardless of how many people are there. Management obviously doesnt care or want to succeed bc these problems are consistent and unimproved. Point is, u are paying for a service, u sgould get what u are paying for...much like the management, they are paying employees for a service, service rendered far less than stellar. Fail.

the only reason this place got one star is because I can't give it zero stars. upon arriving, the initial experience was average. but when we got to the window to pick up our food, we waited patiently while every single employee was dancing around and completely ignoring the fact that they had food to make for customers. you know, the job they get paid to do, but neglect. then when we got our food, they forgot the shake. so we circled back around and got to the window where an employee just stared awkwardly for a solid two minutes before saying "hhaaaaaa", which apparently meant "how can I help you sir?". got our shake, said thank you ma'am, and got a "yeeeaaaa" for her response.

Great burgers. Great fries. Great shakes, and good service. It's still kinda new here in SC, so expect a 25-30 minute wait if you are there on a saturday afternoon. It's worth the wait.

We Love SteaknShake! Been there twice and both times had excellent service, food and fun atmosphere. The employees seem to enjoy their job and are super friendly...the food is really good and really inexpensive! We get right in at the bar and enjoy watching the food being prepared!

Steak 'n Shake's No. 1 fan, I've been a regular for as long as I can remember. Born and raised in Florida, SNS was available around every corner. Joined the US Navy and I've been stationed here in Charleston for over a year and one of the perks to driving four hours to Jacksonville, FL to see my family was being able to go to SNS. Now that its here, I can enjoy it in practically my backyard. The business is booming for this location with 30-45min wait times and longer drive-thru times but the service and food/shakes are worth the wait. Give it a few months and the wait times will die down as this location soon becomes open 24-7. Enjoy~

I am sitting in your restaurant right now and this is my first time here. While ordering my food the cashier Chad was very rude and quick with me. I asked him what options do I have when it comes to cheese and he took a long deep breath followed by informing me of Swiss and pepper jack cheese. He then asked me what kind of fries I would like I ask him what were my options and he abruptly pointed to the options and said "THESE!". Even though I was tempted to walk out I stayed and just ordered my food hoping that when he whispered to one of the cooks shortly after that he wasn't going to have anything done to my food. I requested to speak to a manger and I have to say he came quickly. I explained my situation and while speaking to him not once did he make eye contact or seem interested in what I was saying. Being that this is the only location in charleston I hope that next time I will have a better experience

We love and missed Steak n Shake. I'll give them a break on the rating since it's a new store but the staff could use a little more training on customer service. The food was great...just as I remember it.

Don't get in line for the drive through unless you have some time to spare otherwise burgers are good - not great fries are okay and milk shakes are about the same as anywhere else

Went to Steak N Shake about three weeks ago. Store looks great and heavily staffed. I received my order and noticed there was a hair in the fries. I talked to manager and he replaced it with a large frie. So I gave them a try the other day. Ordered a hamburger meal. When i unwrpped the burger there was a big hair in the wrapper. This time I was at the office so I wasnt going back. After this I will never go back. Please check your food for hairs before eating at this locations. Too bad because I am sre they have great food and service.

Get a Shake.... Trust me, you're gonna want a Shake !!! Short Review: Service = 5 stars Burgers = 4 stars Food = 4 stars - - - - - - - - Fries = 4 stars Ambiance = 4.5 stars Shakes = 5 stars !! Parking = 5 stars Maintenance = 4 stars Wait Time : bearable during dinner hours Price : 8 to 12 USD per person Payment : cash, MC, Visa, and Discover Long Review: This is a relatively new restaurant at Tanger Outlet in North Charleston, but it has been here long enough to have a reputation: a Good one, I might add !! Parking is plentiful and the private lot is brand new and pristinely clean. My wife and I went during dinner hours on a Monday night, and we were both very pleased with the experience. It was very busy, but the hosting station managed to get us seated in a bearable amount of time without too much fuss and bother. Steak'n'Shake has a retro-50's ambiance, inspired by the Drive-In Restaurant era. The booths are comfortable and roomy. The air conditioning was on at a comfortable level. We were truly impressed by the high caliber of the Service. The first thing I noticed about our server (Leslie) was the fact that she was smiling. She was very pleasant and attentive during our whole visit. I decided, after much deliberation, on the Frisco Burger with Salt & Vinegar Fries... My wife got the Portobello & Swiss Burger and Fries. I was going to just order my customary cola to drink, but when our server told us about the Red Velvet Milkshake, I had to have it !! Since I was getting a shake, my wife said "What the heck...", and tried the Mint Cookies and Cream shake. We received our food fairly quickly, burgers and fries first. The Manager, a very polite young man, personally brought our milkshakes to us, and spent a moment with us to inquire how our food was. The shoestring fries are tasty and crunchy - the Salt & Vinegar treatment gives them a little extra zing :-) My Frisco Burger was okay... but I should have gotten something different. With a small, round patty and a sad little quadrilateral piece of soggy toast, I had four large corners of meatless bread :-( My wife was very pleased with her Portobello&Swiss Burger, though ! But the Shakes.... Ohhhhh the Shakes... My Red Velvet Milkshake was absolutely astounding !! It had a rich creamy texture which you would expect in a shake, with a chocolaty background flavor typical in Red Velvet Cake. The final touch that made this one the Best Milkshake Ever : little bits of actual Red Velvet cake in the shake mix !! The total tab for 2 burgers, 2 fries, and 2 shakes was 20.49 USD, and that's including the 10.5% Sales Tax. All in all, we were very pleased with this Steak'n'Shake, and we are looking forward to returning to this location !! ------ 4.4 out of 5 stars

We drove out of our way to visit. Husband got sliders, fries, and a shake. I got a single w/everything but NO CHEESE and an Oreo ice cream sandwich. How hard is it?? The wait was F-O-R-E-V-E-R in the drive-thru, with three cars ahead it was an easy 20 mins. Finally got our food, we drove away. I didn't get my ice cream sandwich and yep, as you guessed it DOUBLE CHEESE!! I get that it is a fast food restaurant, but it still costs money to eat there!! Learn a thing or two from Chick-Fil-A across the street and learn how to put an order together. You only had 20 MINUTES to figure it out. Was the burger good? Well I don't know and never will because they've lost my business. Husband liked his. Guess you can't specialize your order because then the staff would actually have to THINK to do something outside the box.
