Went in on a Monday at 6:30 with 6 adults and 3 kids. We were seated and asked for the tv channel to be switched to US open (there was a very interesting tennis match going on). The server blankly stared at us and said ok and took our drinks order. He came back with our drinks and I asked him again to switch the channel and we placed our food order. He said ok and left without picking up any of the menus which was very odd. The food came fairly quick and then finally somebody came and changed the channels after about 20 mins of us asking. The food is what you would expect from a La hacienda. I have been going to La haciendas since I was in CofC to get cheap ok mexican food to have with some beers. It is what it is. The servers at this location though seem particularly uninterested and bored.

This is a pretty stereotypical Mexican place from what I've seen. It's not overly authentic but they do have different types of tacos so you can get the street type or the gringo type. I love the carnitas and it's way more than I can eat. I have been here now several times and, though it isn't my first choice, have been generally pleased. The wait staff isn't my favorite. A little bit slower than the rest and really don't seem like they enjoy what they do.

Horrible service. Took forever to get our check. And when she took it. She didn't bring me my change for 10 min. We came here for lunch. And have been here for an hour and a half for 2 tacos. Not worth it.

I ordered food for pick up, told initially it was going to be 15 minutes, but once at the restaurant it turned into 30 minutes. I ordered tortilla soup and two chicken tacos to go. I honestly believe they waited for me to showed up to then order the food or they simply forgot about it. The food was horrible; tortilla soup was more like boiled water with grease and vegetables. Way too spicy and greasy for a tortilla soup. The hard chicken tacos were soaked and fell apart when I grabbed them. Definitely not eatable. This place is not a true Mexican restaurant, substandard service and quality of food will make it very hard for me to return to this business. Stay away and spend your hard earned money some place else.

Your standard American-Mexican food that you would find in town. There are a couple of them in the Charleston area. Some are better than others. The one in North Charleston is pretty good. Their prices are pretty good for someone who is on a budget, like myself. If you go for lunch, you can get a combo for about $6 and some change and it fills me up!! Free yummy chips and salsa to go with it. I have never had a problem with the servers. They always ask me if my meal is ok, etc. If I'm in the N. Charleston area, I will stop by. It's not the best Mexican restaurant in town, but it is good!!! They always bring out your food pretty quickly!

We went by for dinner at 6:30pm, and it wasn't very crowded. The staff was friendly, the waiter was prompt. The chips weren't the best I've ever had, but they were served warm, were lightly salted, and it came with fresh salsa. The salsa tasted like it could've been fresh, but I still questioned it. It was definitely on the spicy side. Between the 2 of us, we ordered chicken fajitas, and burritos made with grilled chicken and topped with tomatillo sauce. Both dishes were excellent in terms of both flavor and presentation. The fajitas were served hot; however, the burrito dish was lukewarm (I suspect they finished making this dish first and allowed it to sit while finishing the other dish). We ordered a glass of sangria, and it was served in a small wine glass. However, there was no fruit garnish, and it could've been chilled a little more. The flavor, however, was delicious. For dessert, we settled on the fried ice cream- but only after we were told that they were out of several other desserts. The flavor was delicious, and the ice cream was drizzled in chocolate syrup, with 2 maraschino cherries, served inside of an edible bowl. The ice cream also had several raisins throughout, which added a great texture, flavor. Lastly, the music was awesome. Kudos to whoever was in charge of the playlist.

Busy place on Saturday. Food was good & so was the service. Chicken breast fillet was flavorful. Enchilada was so-so. Full bar & lotta Margaritas to go round. Next time I went I ordered Chile Verde which is pork meat in a hot & spicy green sauce Wow Brought to the table with hot tortillas made this the best thing I've had there. They got so many kinds of Mexican beers & Tequilas it made me try more than enough of them on some occasions!!! The Texas fajitas with shrimp, chicken & steak were awesome.

Not good. The service was awful. My order was wrong twice. I ordered a grilled chicken quesadilla with beans. I was given shredded chicken instead. When the correct quesadilla came out I was given rice instead of beans. When the check came at the end the server couldn't understand splitting the check and he tried to charge $2 extra for the grilled chicken. Their menu clearly states $1. He seemed confused when we brought it up. How does a server not know their own menu? Also, the food was mediocre in general and the server was rude.

Reminds me if Chi Chi's. Anyone? We head about the fresh guacamole. Ours was mostly fresh onion and tomato with avocado. We ate at the bar (it's becoming a habit...no wait). Large portions, south of the border food that reminds me if Chi Chi's. That's that.

Came here on a Monday around lunch time. We were sat a bar booth. We were immediately greeted with chips and salsa. Now Mexican restaurants are my weakness so the salsa has to be good or I'm out. Thankfully this salsa was top notch. It was the right amount of spicy and tastes fresh. The chips were warm and fresh as well. We ordered queso thru a guy we thought was our server but then the guy who took care of us said it was never put in. No big deal it came out pretty quick....that was about the only thing that was quick. Other than that we were repeating things we needed. Had to ask three times for straws, lemons. The service needs much improvement! Food wise: I ordered the burritos fajitas. They were pretty good. Just enough seasoning and good amount of steak. My friend ordered the seafood combo but menu fail- apparently there are two different seafood combos and he put the wrong one in. When it came out he just said you can look at the menu. As he was walking away I called for him to come back so we could show him what she ordered. My food was just sitting in front of me but I didn't want to be rude and eat without her. When it did come she said it was pretty good. Kudos for the food. Now let me critique the margaritas! If you're going to be an authentic Mexican restaurant you better have some damn good margaritas. Sadly this one did not. :( I asked for salt there was barely any on the rim. It was greener than anything. Tasted like straight margarita mix. It was so sugary and sweet. Please improve this!!!!! Other than the service and Margarita I'd say the visit was good. I'd be back but only because the salsa is good and I'm not picky with service.

Busy on a Wednesday night due to concert going on. Don't they know the concert schedule? Only one poor bartender. She worked her butt off but could not keep up. Manager tried to help her but took 10 minutes to make 2 margaritas. Had carnitas which where better than some but worse than most. Can you say microwaved meat? On the bright side the chips and salsa are perfect Check out the signs on the bar cabinets. "Swit and sower mix", "cherryes" mmmm.

This is a good place to go for lunch. The service is quick, prices reasonable, and food is descent. There is certainly better Mexican food around town but this is good when you need your burrito fix!

This place is a great little Mexican restaurant. I had a vegetarian entree and my friend had the combo fajitas. Everything was delicious and the salsa was good, too. The service was great and friendly. This place has a very fun atmosphere and the bar was bumping. For your average Mexican restaurant this place is way above average! Muy Delicioso!

Went here twice with a group and the drinks (esp margaritas) are excellent. We got jumbos, and they are truly jumbos! Food is decent. Not bad, but not anything to write home about. Now, the not so good. The first time we went, we were all ordering shots and some people were ordering rounds for the table. When it came time for the bill, they offered to split it, which was great, but did it by asking everyone what they had. Some people said they had ordered rounds and ended up paying for the whole round. Everyone else counted the glasses in front of them and told how many they had drunk, so our group ended up getting double billed for quite a few shots. Could be an honest mistake. To prevent this from happening the second time, one guy charged the entire bill to his card, and we gave him cash. He put a decent tip on the recent (actually a bit over 20%). The waiter tried to write over the number and change the $40 to a $90, which we only discovered when the manager came over to ask if it was right. There is no way this was an honest mistake. So, decent place to go, but WATCH YOUR BILL!

This place is great! Staff is super nice and food is always good. The thing I love about it most is it is across the street from the North Charleston Coliseum. So you can arrive early to a show, get great parking, walk across the street for some great food and beer from La Hacienda, and go back and enjoy the show! You're welcome. :)

I just can't. This was below sub-par. The food was not good. They also use imitation crab in their seafood dishes. If you are going to use fake crab, please state it on your menu. Give people the option of saying no thanks. I got a strawberry margarita. That was not good as well, heavy on the strawberry, not sure if anything else was in it. Also, i lost my appetite looking at the wall next to our table. Grimey is the only word I can think of to describe it. Family of four ate for about $50. Should have saved my $$$. Won't be coming here again.

I didn't expect much from this strip mall restaurant but we were served a taco salad with the mango still frozen. Lame.

I've sworn off other La Hacienda locations in town after being referred to as a punta by the staff there. Thankfully, this La Hacienda is in a different category. Nice patio area, small bar and cozy dining areas. My son ordered a quesadilla, and well, it's hard to screw up a tortilla and melted cheese, no? I had my go to, Carne Asade, and forgot to order a fried jalapeño with it, so I was pleasantly surprised when our food arrived and the plate was garnished by a large, fried pepper! The steak was juicy, just over medium rare and very flavorful. Likely the best carne asada I've had in a restaurant since leaving the west coast! We will certainly be back!

Part of the local chain of Mexican places in this area but not one of the better examples. My taco and burrito were really greasy (dripping down my arm) and everything seemed like it had been reheated. My stomach hated me after eating here. Only thing that gives them an extra star is that my chips, salsa, and drink never went empty.

On par with places like Paco's tacos (see review). The only thing they were missing are homemade tortillas. I only -1 star becuase I was confused about their chile relleno. They gave me a mass of meat with cheese sauce on top. After digging I found a tiny jalapeno on the bottom. Did the run out of the big chiles? Or are the regional differences in how Mexicans make chile relleno? I'm used to the version that's a giant chile that's stuffed with fluffy cheese and other items. The prices here are very reasonable and their food is pretty good. I only wish they also had a carne asada (i.e. pulled/flaked beef) choice in filling rather than just ground beef.

Chicken chimichanga was very good! The margarita was very flavorful! Quick and friendly service.

Good beer prices, marginal food. Stay away from the fish tacos, they are really bad. Greasy, frozen fish with a couple of shreds of cabbage and terrible sauce.

He said: I asked for the table side guac. She asked did I want it table side or up there (motions to front of restaurant). I opted for up there since it looked like she'd be more comfortable that way. It came and was great, but table side would have been better. Lots of jalapeños, those wimpy should ask for light jalapeños. It is enough guac for 4 people, or me and wife. I had the hacienda taco salad with steak. It isn't huge but the steak was good. Diet coke flowed freely. They don't have coke Zero. Server smiley and friendly. She said: Our server was nice. The food was pretty good. It is very much an average Mexican restaurant (American-ized, not authentic).

Prices are good, but service is very crappy (our waitress was pretty impatient when we weren't ready to order 2 minutes after sitting down) and the food will just give you a stomach ache. Right on par with Taco Bell... which as one reviewer said they would rather go there than return to La Ha. Sadly, I agree. Poopoo hacienda I say!!

One of the better laha's if you ask me, the bar is nice too, good food, service and price, good newer menu, perfect strip mall Mexican food? Is there such a thing? I hope to find out one day but this place is good

I visited Charleston for vacation. I went here twice, because I liked it the first time. First time I ordered shredded steak tacos. All the fixings were on the side, and they were good. Good Mexican rice, mixed with tomato paste, and the refried beans were decent. Second time I got the chicken enchiladas in mole sauce, which were also good. Each time the server was quick to arrive with my order.

The food was just ok to me.... The more I ate, the more of a pig I felt like. My bf luvs this place. Its typical mexican food to me. They got an extra star cause the drinks are good.

The beer prices definitely get a 3 star review! The food? Eh.. Nothing to brag about. I'm still trying more options on the menu. So far everything I've gotten is your typical chain food Mexican. The last few meals have left me feeling like I've bathed in queso. I would ask for it on the side if you don't like your food smothered in it. The staff is pleasant and the place has an A rating. Not *authentic* Mexican, but like I said, the beer prices rock!

The bar is definitely on point! I ordered one Margarita while waiting for my take-out order of Grilled Shrimp and Scallops with Mexican Rice. My colleague ordered a beer. First, let me say the beer was HUGE! The mug was larger than his head. My Margarita was pretty big too. I drank it quickly because my colleague wanted to leave to watch The Final Four game. By the time my food arrived, I was done with my drink. We were staying directly across the street and when I made it back to my room I was totally smashed! The food was not so great though. My shrimp was okay but a bit salty! The scallops were very rubbery and hard to cut through. My rice, was good but nothing to write home about, the rice was supposed to have vegetables in it. I think I saw minuscule pieces of green onion but nothing more.Overall, the only thing worth.talking about was my Margarita. I don't think I'll be back to eat here.

Great place for happy hours if you're in the neighborhood...they put us in the hotel close to this restaurant. The food was pretty good. And the beer and happy hours were pretty affordable (4-8pm). The Mexican food wasn't that bad either considering we are wayyyy far away from Mexico. They open later than the other fast food restaurants too.

This place SUCKS! Initially, we had to ask for straws after our drinks were delivered. Then, they screwed up our orders. After this was sorted out, we realized that we had NO silverware. Then, to top it off, the food tasted like it came out of a box, It was nuked and served. I would NOT recommend this place to someone that I hated!

Was staying across the street at a hotel and walked over to the strip mall to look for food and found La Hacienda. Being from southern California I have been to a few Mexican restaurants in my life and have a good idea on what's good and what's not. This pace was better than some of the local and chain Mexican restaurants I find at home in San Diego. it won't blow your doors off in terms of the overall flavors, portion sizes and presentation but it's a good solid "3" and a place I would go back to.

Been there for lunch a couple times. For the money it's pretty ok. Pretty good deal. If you want to get out of there faster pay up front

Ok if you love Taco Bell, actually I'd rather goto Taco Bell. I get sick everytime I eat there maybe it's my fault for going back. Service is good and drinks are great but I'm from California and didn't even recognize the chile rellenos or enchiladas. Maybe if I was a loca, but that's not how they make them in Mexico or right across the border.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
