Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Def one of the tastiest mexican restaurants in Charleston. It's not a big fancy Mexican restaurant, but the food is so delicious. I have been visiting them for lunch, both eating in the restaurant and getting food to go. The portions are large, cheap and totally worth it. Staff is nice and helpful.

First time at this location; I ordered the chicken soup with extra chicken. The soup was hot, plenty of chicken and good taste. The service by Nancy was good. The atmosphere, decor and music were on point. They don't get a higher rating because Hacienda has turned into a fast food chain sort of. There are so many of them in the area and so their food has lost authenticity.

Ate here for lunch and ordered the lunch special with the chili relleno and a side of chicken enchilada. Chicken enchilada was okay. Everything else . . let's just say the chili relleno was not authentic and more like dog food. If it weren't for the .99 Thursday Kid meal . . I don't think I'll be coming here again. Also, no baby changer in the restroom so I would say not so kid friendly at all. There are much better mexican restaurants . .

Food was good but very little ckn in the Chicken Fundido...mostly peppers. Server was bothered by me attempting to use a coupon (refuse to pay full price when we're trying a new restaurant )...said she couldn't accept the coupon because she didn't charge me for 2 drinks....untrue. I would consider going again....maybe she was having a bad day.

The restaurant was dead and even though we got our food in record time, no one ever came back to our table to see how we were doing or if we needed anything. Then we waited 15 minutes with our empty plates for someone to bring our check. We will be finding another place in the area to eat Mexican food from now on.

Normally our go to place for mexican. Tonight was a bit of a let down when it comes to the food. The la favorita combo that I ordered comes with a special burrito. The waiter described it to me but was completely different when it came out. On another note, the chips weren't warm and the food in general was luke warm. This is not the norm especially thinking about all the warnings of hot plate, hot plate. I am thinking they were just having a no bueno noche!

This restaurant is my favorite of all of the Mexican restaurants in my area. The staff is friendly, everything was clean, and I really enjoyed my food. I've been there frequently over the last year and have always had a good experience.

I can't rate this zero but to sum up my experience me and my wife were looking to have a pleasant night out at mexican food and after arriving we were seated in the very rear by the bar and were basically segregated....... mind you there was minimal customers in the building and most of them were towatd the front. Service was very slow and the area smelled really bad. We had to ask for our drinks to be refilled and upon having recieved our food 20 mins later they blasted the stereo behind us with rap music .....mind you it was so loud my wife who was 2 feet in front of me could not hear me talk. Us and the two other parties in our area all took it upon our self to relocate toward the front of the building away from the bar where there was only one person sitting down. None of the servers, managers or even owners cared enough to turn down the music or to check on us or the other parties to which were effected. And lastly upon recieving our check the waiter never returned to complete the transaction and left us to figure out whether to pay up front or to wait for him to return. The food was mediocre as well. Not a place I would ever reccomend to others.

Im only giving one star because I can't give zero or negative stars. We went to celebrate with friends, there were 9 of us (5 adults, 4 kids). We were promptly sat and served chips and salsa and then, for 20 minutes, we sat there and waited for someone to come back. My nephew ordered the Mexican pizza, which according to their menu was a flour tortilla with marinara sauce and cheese, he's on a big "creative quesadilla" kick (his words lol). Once our food arrived, all the adults were served first, and the kids had to wait. Among the problems, the mexican pizza turned out to be a frozen personal pan style pizza, definitely not what was expected or described. The meat on the taco salad was cold and the tortilla shell was soggy. The chicken tacos had barely any chicken, the chicken it did have was cold and it came out with toppings, while it was supposed to be just chicken. The carne asada taco, which was supposed to have the toppings did not and was also cold. The rice on all the plates was cold. Our server avoided us most of the evening, it was impossible to get him, or anyone, to stop to refill our drinks. I overheard one of the servers gesture towards our table and use profanity (apparently he didn't realize many of us speak or understand Spanish). We asked to speak to a manager and was told they didn't have one, then she wasn't there, all with an attitude. Apparently, the manager was at the Piggly Wiggly because she had the shopping bags in her hand when she miraculously materialized. She first told us that the Mexican pizza was a misprint on the menu, and then that they changed it because many kids disliked it. Menu changes and things being 86d are nothing new at any restaurant, but if someone orders something that has been changed or is no longer available, they should at least be notified and given the option to order something else. Ultimately, the manager comped the chicken tacos and the taco salad, and then told us she was doing us a favor by giving us a 10% military discount (which they advertise that they offer to military). I'd avoid this place like the plague. The service was appalling; the food, mediocre at best and with so many good and even great Mexican restaurants in the area to choose from, it would be unthinkable to ever, ever go back.

Coming from Texas were looking for good Mexican food. We found it at La Hacienda. Clean, quick service would go again.

Typical menu for Mexican food. Though they do have a few signature dishes. Like the Volcan (see picture). They will ago bring you fresh custom made salsa. I love hot food so they brought me a house made habanero pure' to add to my liking. It's rare to find something with enough heart for me. This does it nicely. I've tried the chimichongas, burritos and tacos many times. The chori pollo is excellent as well but only if you're really hungry. This is my first time trying the Volcan . The presentation is nice. Served with rice and beans. It comes in steak, chicken or shrimp. I'm having the steak. It comes garnished with a fresh bell pepper sliced and drizzled in queso. Love at first bite!

OMG!!!! Guacamole!!!! Their guacamole is amazing!!!! It's so delicious and fresh they make it right there in front of you! Their food is fresh and very pleasing. At happy hour the waitress went by your table and offers you a free shot of tequila! Which is awesome!!!!! The only negative was that the waitress took a little too long to bring back our check!

Being from Texas the only thing I miss is the food. La hacienda brings that craving home. The owners are from San Antonio so it's the Tex Mex I long for. Thank you for that touch of Texas.

Incredibly friendly staff, I like to bring my laptop and hang out bc they have Internet and I don't feel like I'm being eyeballed.

Numerous locations throughout the lowcountry area. My second visit, this time the Dorchester location. Both locations I visited were dirty, obvious food/grime on floor. Table wasn't much better, at least it had been wiped down before we sat. Service was average, drinks were filled when low, however the kitchen was slow. Ordered a queso to go with the chips/salsa and it took 10 mins before it was brought to the table. I'm a salsa / queso lover and will frequent a location based on those items if they are great. La Hacienda's salsa was tasteless, queso had good flavor and would have been better hot instead of lukewarm. My son ordered soft tacos, and was not impressed with the taste. I had beef enchiladas and a taco and was not impressed with either. Meat was greasy, sauce and beans bland. I'll pass from now on, there are far better Mexican options in the area.
