Wow, I can only agree on the comment above about price. Yes it is cheap, but a quality buffet this is not. In Canada, the Mandarin buffet runs circles around this eatery. From the outside, it looks impressive. On the inside the atmosphere is marginally better than an Octoberfest beer garden. The Muzak playing in the background makes the unpleasant atmosphere that much more unbearable. To make matters worse someone was celebrating a birthday and that good old 'Happy Birthday' tune was piped into the restaurant in wonderful Muzak as well. All of this could have been acceptable if the food was just ok, but it was not. I have had sushi in many restaurants and the selection here was less that average. It was fresh, but not creative, no special presentation, nothing to warrant having sushi in the name of this restaurant. Food selection was mediocre period. The service was ok, it was also relatively clean. Based on my experience, I cannot agree with any of the positive ratings here. Avoid it.

Came on a Sunday morning for lunch expecting either a really expensive seafood buffet or a cheap run-of-the-mill Chinese buffet with a few California rolls thrown in so they could call it a sushi buffet. I was surprised to find a huge variety of sushi with everything from unagi to tempura rolls. On top of the sushi buffet, there is even a hibachi grill station with piles of raw steak, shrimp, salmon, chicken and different veggies so you can customize your own lo mein. Just pile on what you want in your noodle dish, give it to the chef and he'll have it waiting for you in the window in like ten minutes or less. I wasn't counting on having room for dessert but then my boyfriend told me they had a freezer full of six different flavors of ice cream- that's real ice cream that you scoop, not the kind that swirls out of a machine! But the best part was the bill, I came with my boyfriend, his best friend, and my sister and for four people the bill cane out to just under $45!! Definitely the best bang for your buck!

Have been eating here for about five years and have noticed a gradual but undeniable downward slide. Most noticeable slips are in cleanliness(roaches on the table) and food quality. Additionally, the physical appearance has really slipped with no apparent attempt to correct or improve. Dined here last night and that will be my last time. Myrtle beach has way too many restaurants to put up with this.

Standard Chinese buffet, plus Mongolian grill and sushi. Food is okay, restauraunt is clean, and the prices are decent for lunch.

Best chinese buffet I've had around MB so far... Used a coupon for lunch we got in the mail, and were shocked they had such a great selection at lunch. We can't wait to see what they have at dinner time...

Good selection to choose from. The sushi was on point. Glad I stopped here.

This place about average. This food was decent. The sushi was definitely the main attraction. Very nice atmosphere. The staff was friendly for the most part. I would recommend this place. The pricing was very fair. Lunch buffet was 18.76 for two. Overall a decent experience.

Came with about 40 other people for dinner after a long day, so we were ready to eat. I was impressed with the selection: at the hibachi station, I got a heaping mound of shrimp and scallops, and they weren't very oily. The sushi did not look super fresh, and they tasted just alright. I docked a star for that, since this is their billed item. Hot foods were also good; sautéed mushrooms not too sweet or oily, bacon wrapped shrimp so good, fried oysters good as well. Fairly wide and satisfying selection, and I did not feel greasy or bloated afterward (which I nearly always would at buffets). Good bang for your buck!

Pros: Sushi on a buffet that is fresh, good, & about 12 varieties. Also a hibachi grill. On the Chinese side... General Tso chicken is sweeter than most I've had but is very good, great black pepper chicken, great buttered potatoes, good sweet & sour chicken. Cons: coconut shrimp. The consistency of the shrimp was just gross. 4/5

Forget about the name. It implies Japanese, but aside from the sushi, it's nothing more than a cheap chinese buffet. The sashimi for the sushi was sliced pretty thin. I won't say paper thin, but many pieces were pretty translucent! I think the most entertaining part of the sushi bar was the sushi chef. As you picked your sushi, he'd mumble under his breath or talk into the air in Chinese but not with a particularly friendly look. I read up on a few yelp reviews before coming so I knew what to expect; however, my brother did not, and was quite reluctant for a return encounter with the unfriendly chef especially for sub-par sushi. I went up for another plate, but this time I dropped a $5 bill in the tip jar, and the guy's demeanor changed just as quickly. All the other food was typical chinese buffet food. Not bad, but not fab!

8:45 pm, and they let the food run out. The sushi looks ancient, the rest just looks bad. I really enjoyed this place last year. Today it is very very bad.

  • Mike W.

There are far to many better places to dine this this place. The food was almost warm at best, and left out on the line for way to long. Everything was soggy and mush. What can I say, the best thing on the buffet was the jello. Stay away.

Osaka is in Japan. This place is about as Japanese as any Chinese buffet! Points off just for having a deceptive name! I've had better sushi from a supermarket! My guess is that the rest of the food i tried came from the frozen food section at the Walmart across the street... ;^) It's a great place for people who like to "pig out", and aren't too picky about food quality... In my opinion, it's just a mediocre Chinese buffet. Given that there are plenty of much better sushi and Chinese places in Myrtle Beach, i don't recommend this one. During the current obesity pandemic, do any of us really need to set foot in a mediocre all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet?! lol

I agree with Jon A. when he says: "Standard Chinese buffet, plus Mongolian grill and sushi. Food is okay, restaurant is clean, and the prices are decent for lunch." We went for a weekday lunch for some variety with sushi. My sushi experience was nothing like the other reviews. They had no nigiri sushi and the rolls were the standard "I want to say I have sushi" rolls. It was cheap at $7.50 for lunch with our little one eating free. So taking that into consideration it was an OK value for money. However, I have had higher quality sushi at Chinese buffets that did not even advertise themselves as having sushi on the buffet.

Osaka Buffet is a Hibachi, Seafood and Sushi restaurant. Hibachi: Cook on flat grill -- Osaka has a 'Mongolian' styled noodle where you pile noodles, veggies and seafood and meats. Give it to the cook behind the flat grill and come back in a few minutes for pickup. Its that simple. If you want it spicy, just say so! Sushi: Osaka has a variety of nigiri (piece of fish on top of a ball of rice) and maki-zushi (rolled up with seaweed with the goodies in the middle). The night we went, there were six Nigiri and about 8 different maki-zushi. Buffet: The rest of the buffet includes regular Chinese restaurant favorites -- such as sweet and sour chicken, baked mussels, Chinese ribs, fried rice, etc. And the usual salad bar and dessert bar. Osaka Buffet has ample seating and a friendly staff. Prices are great too! Lunch is $6.99 Dinner is $10.99 and on Sunday, there's an all day buffet for $10.99. Hours of operation are: LUNCH: M-Sat 11am -3:55PM Dinner M-Sat 4-10PM Children's prices are dependent on the child's age.

Awesome food! One of the best buffets we've been to. Hibachi was really good too. You can tell by the tips in the jar it must be good. Everything is fresh. I didn't feel it was a buffet.

Keep the southwest eggrolls, they are yummy! This place is pretty consistent although last time was one of the best visits I've had this year. Crab rangoons are always cheesy, too.

  • Inessa B.

This is not a sushi buffet. I have been to a few really good ones but this is just a regular buffet with Very small choices. Food was stale. I'm giving it a two stars though because the workers were super nice.

For the price it's a goodbplace to go. Go to some other place if you got loads of cash.

I didnt even get to eat! i was on a tight schedule, ended up going to chik fil a instead. I walk in and ask for pricing, and I could barely understand the asian lady working there. When I finally understood her, I agreed and she pointed to a table. Seriously?? Not walked me to it, just pointing across the way in a general direction. I did not know which table she was talking about. I also could not understand a thing she was saying. I walked out. Basic communication in English and being walked to my table is common courtesy and not too much to ask for!

We came here thinking about great food. So far the worst food we ever tasted. Food was sitting there for a while and dry. It's 5pm and expecting the trays are serving warm food. The food are below average and pricey as well. Not too many selections. Salad bar been sitting there for a while and fruits are out from a can. I paid $62 for a family of four. What a rip off!! Now my son keep on going to the bathroom with upset stomach.

We only come here to eat the sushi so I can't comment on the buffet items. They look like the typical offerings found at these types of restaurants. The sushi ... There are usually 10 or so different types offered at any given time and they range from the standard California roll to some of the more creative fusion varieties. We only visit several times a year, but so far everything has been as good as our regular sushi place at home and a lot less expensive. The only thing lacking is some of the creativity and presentation, but that's not a big deal and not even practical given the quantity they go through each night.

  • Barrie P.

This buffet was ok. They had a lot of sushi on the buffet but they did not have nigiri and it was not quite cold enough. The hot line was mislabeled but some items were really good. I liked the dumplings and crab Rangoon. The hibachi station had some good options but the veggies were cut too large. It was cooked well. Our drinks were not refilled and we had to flag down our waitress.

Food was great! Selection of Sushi was really broad and other prepared dishes were good as well.

  • Andy M.

You know, for $8.69 during lunch (until 3:30) there really is nothing to complain about. The variety is excellent, everything was well stocked and hot when we went. Good selection of sushi. Hot and sour soup was very good. The grill option is very nice. I had beef, pea pods, onions, peppers, broccoli and noodles. Finishing with a bowl of good ice cream is nice. The people working here are very nice. I realize that buffets like this can sometimes be not so good if you happen to hit it at a bad time. We were there at a very good time and were highly satisfied.

  • Tiffany W.

Decent for a buffet. Large selection of sushi which was good, but the rolls were a bit small. I would probably go back if I lived near by, but I wouldn't recommend it if you are only here on vacation.

  • Tony T.

This place is average. I must say that the sushi bar saved me from leaving hungry. Don't get me wrong, sushi wasn't great but it was a lot better than the rest of the food. For a restaurant in this area I expected better seafood. The shrimp was mushy and oyster tray remained empty.

  • Lorraine B.

Looove this Japanese buffet! I can even have 3 rounds of plates! Sushi, rice ,honey chicken and orange chicken, salmon and lot more to choose from. And te place is kinda neat too. Just be considerate to the attendants' accent. But they can speak English dont worry. But the main thing is its affordable and worth it to eat here.

    (5)
  • Michelle P.

Decently priced for lunch. Pretty good selection, I think the hibachi bar is probably where its at... My hubby likes this place. Probably the better of the asian buffets They have your typical american-asian foods, sushi, and build your own stir fry. Its not incredible quality since its a buffet, but its still good. The eating atmosphere isn't great, kind of weirdly open and awkward with bad lighting. The usual strange asian art decor.

Skip this place. Not worth it. Sushi was nasty the only decent thing is the ice cream .not recommended

It's far from authentic or even "Chinese" cuisine. But, it's good food for the price. The sushi and grill make it 4-star. The standard-fare buffet part would be three by itself. It's not as top-drawer as are the menu type places or a fine Japanese steakhouse - it's just a cliche Chinese food buffet highly Americanized for the tourist crowd. A huge plus is that they can easily seat a large group and there's rarely a wait for a seat. It's also pretty easy to get to from the beach. Just don't expect this is straight from Hunan nor is it, with some exceptions, cooked to order.

  • Ash H.

Didn't like the egg drop soup Accidentally put hot mustard on salad, i thought it was honey mustard. both Italian and thousand were too acidic Alot selection of sushi and rolls Sushi rolls were pretty good Chinese food sucks Fried Rice n noodles were old and dry. The veg and noodles from hibachi grill were salty n oily and half of it were burned Ugh there's no watermelon at dessert bar and banana looks too ripe there's black spot on it They use the same bowls for soup for ice cream. Overall Get only sushi /sushi rolls here ! Everything else is disappointing I hate wasting food but it was so bad I couldn't even eat it The only plate I finish was my sushi plate. The other 4 plates I couldn't eat it after 2 bites :(

  • Khadafy K.

3 people, (2 adults, 1 kid) we spent $42 total and we were stuffed!! Even though the name Osaka suggests Japanese food, it is a Chinese buffet. They have about 10 or 12 different Sushi and Sashimi to choose from. They also have a grill with raw foods (Vegetables, meats, etc...) where you can put it on a plate and have the "grill guy" cook it up for you. It's basically the same stuff they have in the buffet, but I guess if you want the food hot and fresh and watch the guy cook it, you can do it. The food is average, and I've been to better Chinese buffets, but it's worth the money and we were satisfied.

  • joe b.

listen up people...you cannot go to a buffet unless its a "prime" time of day. Of course if you don't the food isn't going to be that good. I would assume many of the 1 star reviews are due to this??? That being said...my wife and i visited this place at 6pm on a Thursday. Everything we had was hot, fresh, and tasty. I have been to many Chinese buffets and this one was right in line with being a good buffet to visit. I had Sesame Chicken, Chicken and Broccoli, General Tso's, Spicy Chicken, Honey Chicken, Beef and Broccoli, Chicken Wings, Dumplings, Sweet n Sour Chicken, and a couple other items. All were delicious.

Very solid for the price. Sushi and hibachi rarely disappoint. Chinese food buffet can be touch and go but generally very solid. It is one of my go to spots.

I'm not sure where the positive reviews from others come from for Osaka but I must've gone to a different place. From the hostess who barely even said hello, to the sticky table where we were sat, on to the lukewarm food (and I use that term loosely) it was a disappointment from expensive beginning to disgusting end. The highlights of this dreadful meal included a long black hair entwined around a piece of broccoli. The fact that it was an enormous chunk that I had to cut in half is the only thing that saved me from swallowing said hair. When I pointed this out to the server, she simply picked up the plate and walked away!!! Not one word!! At this point I was done with my meal obviously however my brave companion chose to try their "desserts". One look at the gnat stuck to the congealed icing on the standard chinese buffet cake quickly changed her mind. This place is dirty, the food is terrible and over priced and the staff couldn't care less. My advice, go anywhere else but here or make sure your health insurance is paid up.

Let me start by saying I'm normally a white tie and napkin affair diner, but this place was pretty decent. Food- Pretty decent for Chinese buffet, fresh sushi every hour, crab ragoons, honey chicken, very basic sheet desserts. A little on the greasy side, but had many fresh fruit options as well. Price- For $11 you can really get your moneys worth. Service- The best service ive ever had at a buffet. Drinks were refilled promptly and dirty dishes were taken immediately. Separate checks were also a breeze to do. Atmosphere- VERY typical Chinese buffet. Don't expect the printed wall art or botched tables to blow you away!

  • Camie N.

Second time the boyfriend and I have been here, and still wasn't let down. This place is good! While I would say the Chinese food is good, I would definitely go for the sushi instead. Sushi here is so fresh, always refilled for customers, and very presentable. There is a good variety, and the price is unbeatable! Best time to go is right around lunch time, by about 11am. Pace yourself and get a variety of the sushi so that you don't overstuff yourself before you try other sushi. Osaka is a good place for a buffet.

Excellent food for the price. Custom stir fry or sushi plus an all American /Japanese Buffet A++

Though I noticed right away that the name of this Chinese buffet was a town in Japan (!), I still figured we'd give it a try. Had a wide selection of items from which to choose, which was nice.

  • A Soul F.

NOT WORTH THE PRICE. It was two adults and a five year old and we got there almost ten minutes before the lunch changed to dinner prices, but still they charged us for dinner. It was $37.82 , which was ridiculous because they had so much American food on there buffet, I don't know why it was even called a Chinese restaurant other than the sushi and hibachi station. They had three different kinds of breads, chicken wings, French fries, let's just say that an entire buffet was ALL American food with the exception of maybe three things and that was the rice, egg rolls and spring rolls. Also, what kind of Chinese place does not have sweet carrots...apparently this one. I am from North Carolina and live in a very small town that only has two Chinese restaurants but even they have sweet carrots on there buffet. This place just seemed like a waste to me unless you were just going there strictly to get sushi since it was all you can eat or maybe make your own hibachi plate. If you do decide to go here I would make sure to go during lunch first to test it out because even then it is over $9 a plate without a drink. If I ever decide to go back to Myrtle Beach, this is definitely a place that I am crossing off the list and making sure that I do NOT re visit ever again. I just had better expectations for this place, especially after reading all the reviews and seeing that it was rated so high. I just wanted something better than what I could get back home where I live, but after eating at Osaka I will gladly go here and only play $7.95 a person and actually get every buffet filled with Chinese food and definitely better than this was with the exception of the sushi. Basically, if you are not looking to get sushi then find a better place.. I am sure any other place you go to would have to be better than here or at least have more "Chinese" food on its buffet than here.

Visited here after seeing the signs on the highway. We were sorely disappointed. Uniformly bland, overcooked food, some looking like it had been brought back out from the night before. Not a good look, and most assuredly, not again...

  • Kim T.

Oddly enough, this place has some of the best sushi in myrtle beach. Not THE best mind you but in the top five from my own experience. You would never expect it by looking at it from the outside. It is a buffet where the sushi and hibachi is included in the price. I usually end up getting sushi and hibachi so I couldn't tell you how good the rest of the buffet is. I have tried the dumplings, which were good though greasy. I like the hibachi because you can actually order it spicy or mild so it's a little bit more customizable than some of the other Chinese buffets with hibachi that I've been to. For that matter, the name of the place is kind of deceptive. It definitely specializes more in Chinese food than Japanese but it's definitely worth a try. It's inexpensive, clean, and had good food.

  • Dale R.

Excellent Sushi and Buffet! Probably the best moderately priced buffet in the Redneck Riviera! (Myrtle Beach). The Sushi was very good and any of the items we had on the buffet were very good also. We arrived around 5:30pm on a Friday evening and everything was hot and fresh. This is a good bet and great for kids.

  • Scott D.

I'm not a big fan of buffet restaurants but my parents wanted to go here when we visited with the grandkids. I was very impressed! The sushi was top notch. They offered a good variety. And the customer traffic kept the offerings fresh. It is true (as others have said) that the selection is really "Chinese with sushi." But the offerings are very tasty and varied. I particularly enjoyed the pepper chicken and crab rangoon. Though I did not try the mongolian style grill, it looked well provisioned and well managed. I would recommend this to anyone who can't decide between Chinese buffet and sushi. Here you get the best of both worlds!

Awesome food and experience. Definitely one of the best kept secrets in myrtle beach. Food tastes fresh and the restaurant is clean. The staff are very nice.

  • Annibelle C.

The food here was not pleasant at all and I will not be going there again. Went around the buffet once and just paid for our plates to LEAVE. There are so many other places that you can spend your money which will be well worth rather than this want to be buffet. I cannot believe how disappointed I was!!!

Hands down the best 'buffet' style Chinese food in Myrtle Beach - puts all the others to shame.

  • Jeramy P.

Pretty good food for the price. We even got the hibachi/mongolian bbq whatever it was. Tasted pretty good and very cheap. The service was great and there was plenty to choose from.
