I feel like my last few reviews have all mentioned sub-par service. So I'm glad to finally be able to rave about amazing service, which I got here at The Pickled Palate. The owners and staff here are so nice! I was trying to figure out a way to get back here at least once more before I headed back to Atlanta, but I couldn't make it happen. Although it was getting pretty busy, I was greeted as soon as I walked through the door. I was asked if I'd visited before, and was given the rundown. Despite the growing lunch crowd, I wasn't rushed to make a decision. I settled on the turkey panini, which I was told was a favorite of their diners. I can see why. First, I didn't know raspberry mayo was such a thing. It's real. And it's real good (you know something's great when you forgo all proper grammar and punctuation). It was also served with swiss chess, and your choice of a salad or bag of chips. I opted for the salad, which was tasty on its own. Even the water infused with cucumber and lemon was perfect...so much so, that I asked to take a cup to-do. This place has me eating all of my veggies with their yummy salad AND drinking lots more water. Adding this little gem to my list of places I definitely have to visit whenever I'm home.

Pluses: Turkey with raspberry mayo was delicious, makes me want raspberry relish instead of cranberry next Thanksgiving. Iced tea was free flowing - you could help yourself to as much as you wanted and there were two varieties with all the trimmings - lemon, ice, sweetener, ball jars or plastic cups to drink from. Kettle cooked chips Beer and wine, if you wanted it. Customer service was genuine. The ladies working here really want to make you happy. Minuses: My roast beef was nothing to write home about- the bread it was on was not ciabatta no matter who wants to call it that. Pie kept in the fridge - no one likes fruit pie cold. Makes me think it's been laying around for a while. Skip the peanut butter and jelly. Our friend's 5 year old didn't want to eat it because it was messy. Why was it messy? Oh, because it was on a "ciabatta" and it went thru the panini press and everything was oozing out of it. You ever seen a hot peanut butter jelly sandwich? Yeah, me neither.

You know that awkward feeling you get when you go into a cafe for the first time and you are just browsing while ppl stare at you and you kind of feel rushed to make a choice?? You don't get that feeling here. The people welcomed us when we walked in and asked if we had been in before (they could tell we haven't, bc I'm totally awkward like that) and they gave us a whole rundown on the menu including special items - like gluten free and vegetarian, and showed us the drink bar (pitchers of cucumber lemon water, un sweet teas and a simple syrup) So I'm really glad my aunt and I stopped here, it's southerly charming and rustic and quickly has become a favorite in the area. I did the pimento cheese panini sandwich and it is probably the best pimento sandwiches I've had. I loved the bread and how it was perfectly panini'ed. So crunchy on the outside and oozy, cheesy and chewy on the inside!

With the help of Yelpers, we found this lovely, little sandwich shop to enjoy our fist meal in Charleston. To say it was quaint would be an understatement. We loved sitting outside in the garden area with our dog. We ordered an Italian sandwich with a side of chips and a roast sandwich with a side salad. The hub & I agreed that the roast beef was the better of the two. The drinks are self-serve with the choice of cucumber-infused water or plain and two types of iced tea. So, why the missing star? The lobby area felt really chaotic to me, particularly since I had never been there before. Customers order, fill their own drinks, then come back to pay after the meal all in the same cramped area. There's no much they can do since they renovated a house into a restaurant, but it does detract from the experience. If we're back in Charleston again, we'll likely return.

I ate here with a friend from out of town. The place is small and staff very friendly. we both had the panini with ham and gouda. I ordered the side salad. the balsamic dressing was really good. i liked my sandwich and my salad. I felt as if i got just enough food . i wasn't stuffed and i wasn't hungry still. I thought the garden seating was great. A person had a dog so I believe that is ok if you're out doors. My mimosa was delicious. i recommend but the place is small so probably not as pleasant as when its slower when i went.

You will miss this spot, I did !! You have to drive in the back road, and parking is like Gold. Very cute, two lovely ladies run it, everything is fresh. Order what you want, sit and it is brought to you. Had the turkey, swiss, cranberry sandwich, delicious. Sat outside, very nice, great atmosphere. Ok, why only four stars, well outside traffic noise for one. Prices are a little high for a sandwich. Wife had chicken salad sandwich, tea, along with mine and a coke. $23.00 before tip. A must to try at least once. Frank G

First off, yummmm! I had the turkey special. Forgot what my boyfriend had, but it was something with raspberry mayo. I had never tried that before but it was honestly delicious! Tasted very fresh, they have tea and water which you could fill yourself. They grow their own veggies which I thought was pretty cool. If you worry about what's in your sandwich and want fresh out of the garden, then this would be the place. It's a bit pricey for a sandwich but still good to try. You also get the option of coleslaw or chips. I opted for the chips since I'm not a fan of coleslaw. My boyfriend got coleslaw which looked (and according to him was delicious). Maybe I'll try it next time. The place itself has a very calm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff is beyond nice! They were very helpful in my sandwich choice since I was very indecisive lol. We chose to sit outside and I have to say it was beautiful. Granted the street is right next to it and you can still hear the cars and stuff, but it was still nice to sit down with all the plants around you. They even had a swing. The inner child in me was happy. Just beware of the flies, they tried to attack our food as soon as we got it but that can't really be helped if you're sitting outside.

I've lived in the Charleston area for 10 years and shame on me for taking this long to visit The Pickled Palate. We were on our way to another lunch spot when we passed this place and I had heard good things, so we stopped in. It's located in the old village of Mt. Pleasant and has a great decor. It looks like it was transformed out of an old house, great idea for the area. The decor, as great as it is, is the 3rd best thing about this restaurant. The first two being a tie between the food and service. The women and men running the place couldn't have been nicer. They were very busy but kept making sure we knew they hadn't forgot about us. Both my fiance and I had sandwiches, and they were great. Really good flavor, sizable portions and reasonably priced. Great job Pickled Palate, we'll definitely be back.

It's a unique spot that's for sure. Well crafted sandwiches and great service. It's not a spot I would go to weekly, but I'd return. Overall, it was a great experience

This was the first place my boyfriend and I ate when we moved to Mount Pleasant, and it sure was a treat! We went for lunch on a Thursday, I had the Turkey panini with raspberry jam. It was phenomenal. Can't remember what he had, but it looked equally as delicious, and it didn't take him long to finish it. I think what really make this place special is how friendly everyone who works here is. We were there in the middle of an apartment hunt (had literally spent only 4 hours in our new hometown) and one of the women working there overheard our conversation and offered some solid advice, completely unsolicited. Who doesn't want to support a place with amazing food and even more amazing staff?

I LOVE THIS PLACE! I almost didn't want to review it so that it would be less crowded when i go next time. It's perfect if you like little sandwiches and salads on a cutesy vintage china and mason jar glasses served outside in the garden. Not a lot of room. Just for lunch. Wear bug spray.

Food: 5 Ambience: 5 (for the uniqueness) Service: 5 Date/Time: 5/8/2015 noon This was a very cute and creative place! The menu is basic deli items (sandwiches and salad), and in addition using local produce and hormone free (with gluten free available), the food gets bonus points on top of the great taste! Service is great...you order at the front and they bring the food...fast delivery! The place is filled with various items from the singing veggies out front to the creative garden where there is outdoor seating. Great place for a casual lunch!

Great sandwich, soup and salad spot. We had the Rueben and the Italian Paneni with side salads. Both sandwiches were excellent. The homemade dressings were really good. To top of our experience, the battery went dead on our car and the owner came out in the rain and jumped us off. That was really above and beyond the call of duty.

The food was absolutely amazing! I was passing through here and met a new friend at the park and we decided to go grab a bite to eat. I saw this place on yelp and decided to try it out. AMAZING! We were greeting immediately by a nice older lady and she instantly gave us some jars with ice for us to pour some tea. The tea set up is nice and the atmosphere is very inviting. She let us know what they're all about right off the bat. They use all local produce and organic foods. Their meats are non chemically processed and come their breads are all local and baked fresh daily. I must say, I sat down and my mouth instantly began watering as I looked at the menu. The owner reassured me that I can mix and match whatever I wanted ti my liking. I was very much pleased with the service and even more pleased with the food. I ordered the Pimento cheese panini with roast beef and gosh was it worth it! I have to say, if you ever stop by Charleston, this is a must go!

I can literally say I was speechless!! I have never had a better lunch. The atmosphere and whole dining experience is awesome. The food is absolutely amazing! I had the raspberry turkey panini and i was licking my fingers afterwards. The amazing flavor blast is so hard to find anywhere else. The homemade from scratch blueberry pie is to die for!!

I really enjoy coming here - with the exception that I ALWAYS get lost. If you asked me how to get here, I honestly can't tell you. What I can tell you is that it is definitely worth the hunt. First of all, it just has that cute charm. They offer delicious paninis and salads, glass bottled sodas, wine, and beer. I have yet to have something I didn't love. I must admit, it's hard to mess up a panini. I get that. You come here for the atmosphere and the service. The two ladies who run this place know how to treat a customer! They are always very nice and accommodating. They know their menu, and are sure to let everyone know that they use local, fresh ingredients in every meal. my only complaint is that they have gotten so popular since my first visit (which Im sure isnt a complaint to them!) and it can be impossible to find seating. Still, worth it!

That turkey with raspberry. So good! Pleasantly surprised that they offered beer and wine. Enjoyed my late lunch in their very calming garden.

I had the turkey raspberry panini and it was absolutely delicious. Husband had she crab soup and said it was pretty good too. Fun atmosphere with mainly outdoor seating. Very friendly staff too. Made us feel very at home in this tiny cafe.

What a great find this was! Meghan C. found this place after we walked the bridge, one day, and despite driving up and down Coleman hundreds of times, we'd never noticed it. Sure enough, she sets the navigation for stun, and we're there. We didn't really know what to expect, we just saw the awesome reviews. You walk in, choose your food, have a little chin wag with the women that run the joint, and a few minutes later, they bring you absolutely delicious food in a nice little backyard setting. There's a good amount of seating, and it's super eclectic outside. They're extremely friendly and inviting, and the food is just fantastic! The only criticism I have, and I won't even take a star away from them, is that it would be nice if there were a fence or barrier, other than just the bushes and plantings, to separate the backyard from Coleman. We had our two year old with us, and, as he's two, he likes to explore. I spent half my time chasing after him, and the other half loving my food. Still, this place is just freaking awesome!

Such an undeniably adorable business with such sweet staff. My husband and I had the ruben, per the recommendation from one of the waitresses. It was AAAAMAZING. The blackberry jasmine tea and Mrs. Vicky's Salt & Vinegar chips were great sides. I had such a hard time deciding on a sandwich, so we will most definitely be coming back to try all of them!

  • Meg W.

Well, this review feels superfluous as TPP consistently receives 5 stars and stellar remarks. But here I am, echoing the sentiments of others because it is just THAT GOOD. Roast beef sandwich was fab. But the Italian was my fave of the two. The gals are super friendly and welcoming. Signs make it clear how things work there. (Order at the counter. They give you a number. Have a seat. Your meal will be delivered). Will be returning next time I'm in Mount P.

This is a hidden treasure. The food and service are excellent. The atmosphere is unique and inviting. There is a lot of interesting choices for both food and beverage. When the weather is pleasant, it is a wonderful place to take your fur baby. The ladies that run the restaurant are most accommodating and friendly. I highly recommend you try the Pickled Plate. You won't regret your decision.

Great little shop. Inexpensive and delicious. We go every so often on our way to Sullivans to pick up some sandwiches for the beach. They have a nice variety of beer, and wine. The food includes salads soups and paninis. They have a couple of coolers stocked with home made pimento cheese and other goodies for the road. Nice rustic little dining area and garden with some bistro tables. Impeccable service. Couldn't ask for more.

I had a couchsurfer in town for the day and I wanted to take him somewhere that really reflected Charleston's hospitality and "eat/buy local" mentality. This was definitely the place! It's such a cute little place, full of the most gracious and wonderful women. The care that they put into their food is amazing, and it's locally sourced. Even better! This was a big win, the reviews of this place are completely justified. I couldn't think of a negative even if I tried. I'll be back for sure!

Very cool place. BLT was loaded and the chicken salad was delicious. Great atmosphere - fresh ingredients from their garden. Cucumber water.

Food is very tasty and fresh. The ambiance and decor around the property is perfect for hanging out and enjoying a nice lunch. Full of art and funky fun vibes. Perhaps best part is the owner who is super friendly and accommodating to make sure all patrons are completely satisfied. I'll def nicely be back and would recommend this to everyone in town.

Cutest sandwich shoppe ever! Lots to explore at the quaint little restaurant from the Little Free Library out front to the garden in back. I ordered a caprese panini that was pretty delicious.

Fun little, kitschy place. Good, simple food served quickly and with a smile. If you're not expecting five star, you won't be disappointed. Definitely a place to experience, at least once.

This places is an awesome little lunch spot in Mount Pleasant area. The staff is super friendly and the sandwiches are wonderful. The wife and I stopped here on our way to Boone Hall for lunch and she loved it. Mason Jar's to sip cucumber lemon water from to the the decor...she loved it.

My wife and I had a mid-week lunch here during our week's honeymoon in Charleston. We spotted the PP across the street while dining elsewhere and looking back, I wish we had just eaten at the PP twice instead of once. Of all the meals we had in the Charleston area that week, the PP had the friendliest staff and best value of all. There is limited indoor seating but plenty outside, both well-maintained and cleverly decorated and cozy. It was hot during our week, so we ate inside but wished we had been able to enjoy the garden outside more. I don't normally enjoy talking with the staff but the PP drew me out of my shell. . .a nicer bunch I couldn't imagine. They have a nice selection of beer to offer as well, all from bottles. If you're anywhere near Charleston and have any reason to drive near Mt. Pleasant, don't miss the PP. I wish they'd stay open for supper.

This sandwich shop is delicious! The owner is very friendly and obviously loves what she is doing, which makes this place a perfect combination of food and atmosphere. It's cozy and cute, perfect for the chilly winter weather. Their menu is straightforward, with just the right amount of options to give you enough of a choice without being overwhelmed. The panini I ordered, the ham, was one of the best tasting sandwich I've ever eaten. My boyfriend got the Italian which was also super tasty! I hate pickles, and they include some on every plate which my boyfriend added to his sandwich and noted that they were rather flavor-less. I ended my meal with a King of Pop popsicle, banana pudding, which tasted like heaven. There were lots of other desserts, that all seemed well made. All in all I'd recommend this shop to anyone! You should try it out!

  • Katie D.

LOVE this place even though I've only been once! The menu looked great, wonderful people working there, lovely decor, indoor and outdoor seating options and most importantly, delicious food. This looks like a great place for a glass of wine with a friend. I had the roasted red pepper and tomato soup and a house salad, both of which were scrumptious. I'll be back!

  • Dan O.

Loved the rustic vibe when we walked in. Very friendly woman greeted us and told us we could order what was up on the wall, gave us our mason jars for drinks, and directed us to sit anywhere we liked. The food was very good - I had the tuna melt which I had read was good (it was) and tried the turkey sandwich with raspberry spread which was also very good. After two sandwiches, which are on the small side, and two teas our lunch tab was just shy of $30. We enjoyed the food, but the feeling that it was a bit pricey for what we got might prevent us from coming back for a while.

This place hits all the right notes. Delicious food, wonderful owners and staff, fresh brewed ice tea served in glass not plastic, eclectic setting with a beautiful garden. There's a reason why everyone gives this gem 5 stars.

We were heading over to Sullivan's Island on 3/17/15 and consulted Yelp for a lunch time recommendation- thus the stop to the Pickled Palate. They were very busy so we parked on the next block down the street- owners said that was fine as everyone had to share. The initial selling point here was gluten free options. First, our sandwiches were excellent- very fresh and tasty. I had the chicken salad panini and totally enjoyed it. You order first and pay when you leave- that way if you want an extra drink or desert you just check out once. The whole place is an explosion of whimsical- very fun and enjoyable to just look at everything. To top it off, the ladies working there (ie, the owners) are super friendly and fun. Great time and well deserved of the Yelp rating they have.

I had seen some positive reviews popping up on Yelp about this place but hadn't heard of it otherwise. I bookmarked it and made it a point to try it out next time I was looking for lunch on Coleman. If it hadn't been raining earlier I would have gladly sat outside in the garden but everything was all wet. A friend and I walked in a spent a few minutes looking over the menu. With indecision setting in, we asked for any suggestions. The woman at the counter mentioned that the specials were pretty popular and were both taken off the menu but brough back by popular demand. One was the Reuben and the other was the tuna melt. My friend got the Reuben, but after hearing the unique description of the tuna melt, I had to give it a try. It was loaded up with pickles, mustard, dressing, and cheese then cooked on a panini press to get it nice and toasty. It was by far the most flavorful tuna melt I've ever had. The side of soup really hit the spot and I remember there being chunks of delicious chorizo in it. The inside is set up like a home and there is gifts and things all around for purchase. The atmosphere is cozy like sitting at home. All the tables in one room were busy because of the weather but my friend and I commandeered the picnic table in the front room. One of the staff members was having her first day and she came to check on us and was very polite. This will definitely be a regular stop for me when I'm lunching on that side of town and I'm looking forward to it. Pro tip: they have a little wooden box with a glass door out-front set up as mini library for you to take or leave a book as you wish... and they have animatronic vegetables that sing... can't beat that.

My 5 year old daughter and I visited The Pickled Palate based on Yelp. The chicken salad sandwich and the cauliflower and mushroom soup were outstanding. We also loved the blackberry tea. The cashier Debbie is very pleasant. She's like the elementary school teacher you wish you had. With my permission, she gave Dylan a quarter to buy candy out of her candy machine! So sweet! The big animated vegetables outside the restaurant are cool, too.

Since my initial review in '12, Tracy and I have become regulars at the Pickled Palate. Whether having a relaxing meal on a lazy afternoon, socializing at a wine tasting, or hosting group parties, the food, service, and atmosphere at the Pickled Palate has always been spot on. Debbie & Lisa are excellent hosts, their food never disappoints, and I always feel better having visited.

Decided to join a friend for lunch here and wasn't sure what to expect, but I loved the friendly atmosphere almost immediately. The restaurant is quaint and tucked in, so a little hard to find but the food is worth the find. I had a simple panini for lunch with a salad but the balsamic vinaigrette is homemade and we ended the meal with a dessert of chips and homemade onion dip. It was absolutely perfect. Can't wait to go back!

Been on vacation for two weeks and I've been eating a little too much low country cooking. Love shrimp and grits but I wanted lighter and healthier fare. Was in the area and found The Pickled Palate through Yelp and brought my two small dogs with me. First, the ladies behind the counter are super sweet and even filled and brought me my water since I was trying to wrangle two dogs and order. I didn't get a long look at the menu but ordered the turkey and raspberry jam panini and a side of salad with vinaigrette. Let me get out that I don't like paninis. I prefer cold sandwiches but this sandwich had to be hot and pressed because the magical mix of turkey, raspberry jam and whatever cheese they used was exceptional. It's so good I'm thinking about returning even though we're renting a place in Folly Beach which means it's about a 30 minute drive out of my way. The salad was okay but the star is really that great panini. Side note: not only are they dog friendly one of the ladies brought out a fresh bowl and poured water for my dogs at the table. Now that's service. Great staff. Left a wonderful impression.

Cute little restaurant. After a hot morning of touring the naval ships and Ft Sumter we stopped in for a surprisingly tasty lunch! One of the owners, Debbie, introduced herself and welcomed us in to eat. My boyfriend had a tuna melt and I ordered the vegan panini; enjoyed sipping on iced tea as well.

A cool little sandwich shop that has a small-town, family owned, non-chain restaurant feel to it. Definitely worth a trip if you are in the Charleston/Mount Pleasant area. The owner is very nice and her recommendations were spot on.

So you wouldn't think of finding such friendly service, delicious food and a relaxing time when driving by this place. The turkey sandwich was delicious and the tuna was very good. The home-brewed teas were wonderful. Pimento cheese appetizer was great as well. The only reason for 4 stars vice 5 is the "backyard" which is very cool in theory backs up to Coleman blvd and the traffic noise is makes it less then ideal. We ate indoors and thoroughly enjoyed this place.

Fantastic people, food and atmosphere. It is funny sitting outside looking at the lines across the street at Okra Grill while eating the best soup and sandwich you can get in Mount Pleasant...delivered in 5 minutes. I hope this place stays a local secret.

I have driven past this place countless times and never really thought of going in until a friend suggested we find a new place to try for lunch. The best way to describe the place is "cozy", loads of personality and charm, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The fare is basically sandwiches. There were many options and they all looked delicious. We had the italian and the caprese sandwiches. They were light and delicious. The outside seems to be a great spot when the weather is nice. What a gem!

I finally made it here for lunch today, and really wish I wouldn't have waited so long to check this place out! One of the owners, Debbie, who took our order today, was extremely helpful and knew right away we were first timers! After going over the menu and daily specials, my friend and I ordered two different panini sandwiches, the Caprese and Italian. It always makes me happy when I get a choice of a side item and they offer that here. Each sandwich comes with the choice of a side salad or chips, or an upgrade to the soup of the day. Everything is so fresh and you really can taste that. I wasn't crazy about the Caprese panini because the bread got soggy from the dressing and tomatoes aren't in season yet, but I will definitely go back for the Italian and many of the other offerings.

Delicious. Perfect portions. It feels very cozy. I loved my experience here. Everyone I've met on the staff has been extremely friendly. The owner welcomed us at the door, gave us her recommendations of food and dessert then chatted with us. Lovely people. The tea is excellent! The black eyed pea soup and turkey/raspberry panini was incredible. I am beyond satisfied with this place.

We arrived on Saturday at 3pm, & we were sad to see a sign saying that's when they closed. My hubby took a chance, & walked in to see if they'd be willing to serve us. To our surprise they did! Everyone there were so nice, & genuinely helpful to all the clients. This place is a gem. Cute, quaint, perfect as, well, a pickle. Everything's made fresh & in house. We tried the ruben panini, grilled cheese panini, & turkey cranberry panini. The bread on the panini's had crunchy crusts on the outside with soft fluffy bread on the inside. They had just the right ratio of meat & cheese to bread. All the sandwiches came with a side salad or chips, and a pickle (of course). We also had a slice of key lime pie, which was sweet & tart with a crunchy graham cracker crust. They have local jams, teas, & trinkets for sale as well as wine, fresh eggs, and heat & eat to go foods. This is my new favorite local lunch spot. Still one of my favorites. A hidden gem!

I absolutely love this place. The food was freshly made and the tea was delicious. The swing was a great little addition for the kids. It's got great service. Everyone was helpful and friendly. This is a kind of of place that's great just for a glass a wine and a snack or a lunch.

For some reason we have failed to get to a Pickled Palate although we have lived in Mt. p for several years. This is a tragedy! This place is awesome. We biked here and just left our bikes in the courtyard. We were immediately greeted by a waitress who basically explained the entire menu and really made us feel very welcome. We ordered a couple sandwiches and sat on the back porch. I love the rustic feel of the courtyard- it is so serene and laid back. Both of our sandwiches were delicious (we got the special turkey sandwich and the Reuben) and the homemade salad dressings for the side salads were also very tasty (balsamic and ranch). We are kicking ourselves for not getting here sooner, but we plan to go back again and again!

I have been here twice in the last 10 days. The ladies here have me hooked. The staff is excellent. I was greeted, engaged in conversation and we had a discussion about the menu. Not just ordering food, they wanted to be certain I would be happy with my selection. And the food is good. I have had soup, sandwiches and a salad so far as well as a chocolate dessert to die for. The iced tea is flavored and their coffee is excellent, no matter what time of day. This is one place where I will not hesitate to eat alone. I can go outside in the lush garden, eat in the sunshine and generally feel as if I am in my own garden at home. I'm checked on regularly to be certain that I do not need anything. I will be a regular here and plan to try the wine tasting events.

I love this place! If you're a foodie..Stop, drop and roll yourself there pronto. I've had their take away a number of times and it never disappoints. They also have a bar area if you want to just hang, which I do while my order is getting ready. I love the environment and positive attitude these people have. Its a "feel good" kinda place and the food is so so good. Must try.

I'd not heard of the pickled palate until today! The food was delicious! Greek salad and house made dressing was excellent! We sat outside until it rained and then moved to the little porch! The staff was delightful!! We will go there many times in the near future! They have wine tasting which benefits a local charity on the second Thursday each month!

Super kind people, dog friendly, and incredible paninis! My kids say the homemade Popsicles are incredible, too. They put sandwiches together with love and care and good grief do they taste good. We drive from IOP to this place each visit to the area. See you all next time:)

Went here for lunch with my husband based on the rave reviews on Yelp. We were not disappointed. The service was friendly & welcoming. The sandwiches were delicious. (We got the tuna melt and ham & gouda) And the garden was a perfect place to sit on a gorgeous day. The Pickled Palate is a hidden gem in Mt. Pleasant!

Great food and outstanding service. Owners are quite engaging. Late afternoon, they were out of key lime pie, so they sold us the filling and crust to be baked back at the beach house. It was a great late night snack!

Today was my second visit to Pickled Palate, this time for lunch. I'm blown away by what owners Lisa & Debbie are able to do. There seems to be no end to their creativity, energy, or talent. They've turned their store into a little section of floral heaven...but with food. Today we dined outside on the patio overlooking the garden. It was pretty hot out but the patio kept it just cool enough to be enjoyable. We would have sat inside but the place was pretty packed for lunch. On this visit I had the special, consisting of a slice of tomato pie and a fresh side salad. The meal was perfect for a hot Charleston day. Just enough to be filling without being heavy. My mom thoroughly enjoyed her chicken salad-salad as well. The first time I went I shared a delicious artisan cheese plate consisting of local cheeses & honey as well as a bottle of cava. Price for everything, including bottle of wine, was about $20 and a total steal! This place is perfect for an after work drink or just to chill and relax on any time of day. While you're there be sure to check out the cool products for sale at their little store, Earthly Artifacts. I can't wait to see what these ladies will do next!

Great food, great service and wonderful atmosphere! I got the Turkey Swiss sandwich with raspberry mayo. Highly recommend! Everything was fresh and delicious. You can't beat the price either! Perfect lunch spot to eat outside and enjoy the garden.

Sweetest ladies on earth. Have eaten here on various occasions. Since it's always so delicious I asked them to cater a small party for me. They were very accommodating and, as usual, the food was perfect. Love this place.

This is one of my favorite places in town. The sandwiches are always delicious, the service is always friendly and cheerful, and the atmosphere is wonderfully inviting. My favorite thing to order is the Italian sandwich w/salad. Warm, crusty, goodness at such good value. There are lots of beverage choices to quench your thirst, making your beverage choice equally as important as your food order. The ladies here are lovely. It feels like they are inviting you to their cozy home and garden to have a special lunch prepared just for you. Where else do you get that vibe?! Inside there are lots of random things/art/items for sale to gander at while you eat. My daughter loves looking around while she has her kiddie grilled cheese, but what she really loves is the crazy singing fruit and vegetables outside. I do, too! The poor grape's hand fell off last time we visited - I hope they repair it! Can't forget the chocolate chip cookies - they are scrumptious! Hard to not grab one to go while you're checking out at the register. Love this place and highly recommend it.

Ate here for the first time today and WOW. I had the Italian panini and the only way to describe it is that it was like a hug in a sandwich. The tea was great too; you serve yourself and can add your desired amount of sugar, lemon, etc. The atmosphere inside was homey and comfortable, and the woman taking our order was very friendly. I will absolutely come again!

Very friendly, home like atmosphere. I thoroughly enjoyed the vegan/vegetable sandwich, and my boyfriend savored the special turkey sandwich. And I just now bit into the chocolate cookie and my boyfriend looked over to see why i was making so many Mmmmmm noises! While parking is a challenge it is definitely worth the visit! Highly recommended.

This place is our absolute favorite! The paninis are amazing (the roast beef with cheddar and horseradish sauce is my favorite) and the salad with the homemade ranch dressing is fabulous! The owners are so nice, recognize everyone and even remember our favorites!

This is one of the most intimate, cozy and COOL spot for lunch. They have wonderful Panini sandwiches...I have friends that will only go here for lunch and the rest go and pick up lunch to carry back to work..they also have some unique and vintage-ee retail items including very healthy plants to look at and BUY while you wait ...can't beat that!

Definitely a hidden gem in the Charleston area. I had the Italian panini and the brownie pie for dessert. Everything was fresh and made from scratch in house. I also sampled the pimento cheese, which was probably the best I've ever had. Very personal and warm service. I even got to meet the owners on my way out and was asked what I thought of the place and if there was anything that I thought could use improvement. I hope to return one day if I am in the area again.

This was the cutest little place, with super friendly staff and excellent food! I had the vegan sandwich and my dad had the ham and cheese and they were both delicious! They also had some great infused waters, beer, wine, and lots of other drink options. The decor was very quaint and they had a cute outdoor sitting area too. If I lived here I would go all the time!

What a special place!! After running and owning a restaurant up north for twenty years, I am not so easy to impress. Pickled palate wowed me. Not only was the soup and sandwiches, key lime pie great the service and friendly atmosphere spoke volumes that the owners took pride in their food ambiance and service. So impressed, I went back 4 more times in my 1 week stay. Deb and Lisa are a great team, serving only The freshest food and no awful preservatives in their meat. Just loved it! I can't wait to return. Just another feather in their cap, they are very involved in fund raising in their community. I wish I lived there and hope shortly I will. I love dinning and new experiences and have found several I think very highly of, but this place has a soul, a feel good and friendly caring atmosphere. Clone the owners!! I wish more owners took the time to care as these two women do. P from RI Can't wait to come back!

Yesterday afternoon, I met a friend at Pickled Palate. My friend likes the place so much that she had already been there earlier in the day for lunch. I especially enjoyed getting to know Lisa and Debbie, the owners. They really make the ambiance unique displaying interesting gifts, such as soy candles that are freshly made by the Debbie in the most lovely and potent fragrances. We started out sitting inside with a bottle of wine and the Italian panini, both of which were super reasonably priced and delicious. I especially liked the home-grown herbs they use on the sandwich. We also had the pimento cheese, which Lisa makes from scratch with a very sharp cheddar... also delicious. As the sun went down and the temperature dropped and other friends joined us, we migrated to the garden and relaxed with more wine. I can tell that Lisa and Debbie want to make sure that every person that walks through their door has a great experience. I'm looking forward to going back again for some wine with my husband, and it's going to be a perfect spot for us to take a break from work or even just call ahead for a sandwich to take out.

I was so happy that my family stopped into the Pickled Palate for lunch on our trip to Mt. Pleasant. The Pickled Palate is the cutest, tiny little sandwich shop. They had a menu with about 10 paninis as well as the tomato pie. Choice of salad (with homemade ranch or balsamic dressings) or chips with the sandwiches. Sodas and two types of iced tea to drink. Local pastries, homemade pie and ice cream pops for dessert. The food was tasty, the owners beyond sweet and accommodating, and the ambiance just perfect. A great place for an easy, casual lunch in Mt. Pleasant.

LOVE THIS PLACE! Great place for a cozy lunch or dinner and glass of wine...the outside area is amazing; like a retreat! Debbie and Lisa are so friendly, it feels like home. The ambiance is like no other; very original and creative. They have wine tastings to benefit animal rescues (and we LOVE that!)... I'll be back again and again.
