Although it's not as fancy as some of the bigger hibachi restaurants, this place still dishes out the same good food that the others do. Biggest downfall is the size of the place, it's really cramped when their busy, your literally elbow to elbow with the people next to you. The other thing that bothers me is their is only one Asian cook here, who is the owner of the place, and I'm not even really sure if he's Japanese. He always puts on a great show though, very funny. The rest of the chefs are all American, and usually quite boring. The wait staff, AWFUL. We keep coming back though because it's closer than the others, and cheaper. You get what you pay for.

I will not be going back to Sumo. The wait staff herd you in like cattle. When we asked not to be seated on the little flip down counter we were told that we had to sit there. I grabbed my wife and we left. If I'm spending 50 bucks on a meal I should have a say in where I sit. We went to another restaurant. First impressions mean repeat business guys. You failed!

Waited up front five minutes before I saw the first hostess. Was seated and ordered green tea which came out lukewarm. After being seated, noticed the entire place had a very strange odor which is still lingering in my nose one night after. The onion soup was overly salty and gross. The most positive thing about the experience was the chef. He was very animated and eager to please. The food itself was sub-par...everything tasted old. The server was very slack and there were only two table in action (eleven cusutomers in the entire place. Sitting at another table talking to a coworker the entire time...never got a refill on water. Avoid this place like the plague and go to Miyabi, Yamato or the other Sumo on Clemson Road-Northeast.

So so. Like one yelper said it is really small. This is Americanized hibachi at least. Ok for some time out.

This place is always friendly and they give you a ton of food it's worth the price. If you go on the weekend they will more than likely be VERY busy but if you go on a weekday then they won't have that many people eating there. Sitting at the grill is a lot better than sitting at a table. If you sit at the table then you will have a lot less room to eat and it is very uncomfortable, also at the grill you can be entertained by the cook and see them make your food.

Went for lunch, food was plentiful, arrived quick, shrimp was fresh. A little pricey in my opinion for lunch... total bill came to $27.00 before tip.
