Forgettable unremarkable fast food. If you could sit down and be served at McDonald's this is the quality you'd get. Super casual, standard breakfast fare. Absolutely no imagination to the menu (you could prepare the majority of what they offer with stuff you probably already have sitting at home) but for this area, that doesn't seem to be a bad thing. Eggs, pancakes, bacon, all overcooked slightly and standard fare. Coffee was average. Nothing exciting at all to be seen (four of us all ordered the same exact special) The ambiance was nice, very laid back. Service was very very friendly and although there were a few silly mishaps it was OK because our waitress was super friendly and humorous about it. Older people were sitting rocking on wheelchairs outside and overall the place just gave off a good vibe. Combine that with the super cheap prices, $7 per plate per person and it's enough to nudge this two star food up just a bit. I'd cook at home instead then just take a walk around the neighborhood if I could do it again though.

I love this place! I'd eaten here a few years ago and couldn't wait to pass through the area again in order to drop in for some good eatin'! I had the chicken livers, rice and gravy, fried okra, cornbread and a roll. It was deeeelicious! I wish they would open up a restaurant in the Atlanta area!

I would not go back even if they bought me dinner. I ordered their 35 yr famous recipe fried chicken, cole slaw & fried okra. My wife, fried catfish, potato salad, alabam coleslaw. I've never had dry, meally fried chicken before tonight, a first of sorts. How do you do that to a thigh & leg? And it was tasteless! My wife's catfish was so greasy she was pat the grease off it. It too was tasteless. The coleslaw and potato salad were both mediocre at best and not home made. The laugh of the night was Alabam coleslaw. Literally a little sliced cabbage with store bought 1000 island dressing poured in top. The service was lousy, capped off with asking 3 people to take my for the bill over a 10 minute period standing at the register. My last observation was of a server chewing food while walking out of the kitchen with a tray of food to be served. Very low class

Always love eating here whenever I'm in town. Great southern food and southern hospitality.

When my family visits Grandma in South Carolina, we always pick one night to eat at Lizard's Thicket. It's tasty, country food, and this new location is super-fast and efficient (a plus when you've got hungry, cranky young kids!) I do wish they offered more veggies that are not seasoned with meat -- besides salad -- but they offer some, and what they've got is good.

Last visit November 3, 2012 approximately 8:15 AM. The last time I was there I ordered breakfast. When the eggs came out they were undercooked. I ordered regular toast they brought me Rye toast that was burnt on the edges. Rye toast is a special request. I was upset but I ate it. When the waitress comes around she makes a mistake and asks me how things were. I camly mention to her the undercooked eggs and the toast. I'm just trying to help. About a minute later a manager shows up at my table and he says something to this effect. "The waitress said that there was something wrong with your food". I was shocked and I told him that I did not mean to get anyone in trouble. So he walks away and I feel so bad I cannot eat another bite. So I get up leave the rest of my breakfast and head to the counter. The checkout girl doesn't say a word to me as I hand her my bill and she let me leave without saying anything to me. Obviously my best effort to help out a restaurant that I want to see do well has offended everyone there. This is perverse and anti-business. If you go here, don't sit near the register. The wait staff and cooks hold continual parties there. Laughing loud and just generally yucking it up. On my way to the restaurant that morning I thought to myself, I'll give this place on more chance. I thought: Maybe they have hired better people and improved things. I was WRONG!

It is what you would expect it to be. Country food: meat and three. a full pound container of sugar on the table. everything tasted like sugar was added. The food is extremely affordable, but also extremely forgettable. You can't shake the feeling that many of the sides come straight from the can and into a warming tray. Its definitely a one of a kind experience.

Get the onion sausage at breakfast. Other than that, it's a local version of Shoney's, morning, noon or night.

Not much to say. I loved the food. Tasted like someone was cooking out of their kitchen which gave you a home feel. The staff was the friendliest staff I have ever encountered in my life. The prices are great and they have a huge menu. You also don't have to wait forever for your food. If you miss home cooking, this is definitely the place to go.

Reasonable selection and quantity for the price. A sort of "fast-food" wannabe home cooked food: but doesn't exactly make it. Folks are generally friendly, but not overly.

My dad and I ate here awhile ago when we made a trip to South Carolina. Food was good and prices were great!

We are a family of 4 and were traveling home from vacation in Myrtle Beach. We were looking for somewhere we'd never eaten before. I saw Lizard's Thicket on an app and even though the name was strange, we decided to try it. So glad we did! First, our waitress, Sylvia was AWESOME! So friendly and funny. She even gave us all a hug when we left! She seemed like family! Now to the food: I had the catfish, which was prepared with cornmeal (just like my mama used to make it!) it was perfect! I also had baby Lima beans, fried okra and macaroni and cheese. Everything was excellent! My husband had a hamburger steak with sautéed onions, black-eyed peas, cabbage, fried okra and cole slaw. He loved it. The kids got cheeseburgers with a side of fried okra (we LOVE our fried okra) and ate every bite! Dessert was banana pudding and a piece of chocolate cake with ice cream! All in all, it is a great southern home cooked meal for a very reasonable price (under $39)! I highly recommend it and ask for Sylvia!

So I like Lizard's Thicket. Whatever. There's nothing fancy about it, but It's delicious. I've only ever had lunch and supper here, but in general you can expect a standard, inexpensive meat and three. There are other menu items like the popular fried chicken salad, but I always opt for the meat and veggie plate. If you aren't quite as hungry, they have a meat and two option as well or the veggie plate which comes with four sides. The fried grouper is my favorite meat on the menu, but the fried chicken is a close second. In terms of vegetables, Lizard's Thicket has some real winners. Squash casserole always makes an appearance on my plate. It is perfectly seasoned and not overly cheesy or buttery. The dressing and gravy is one of my other favorite. The green beans are the large rectangular variety. I find them to be a little under-seasoned in general, but salt is easy enough to add. Collards, black eyed peas, mac and cheese, and fried okra are worth getting as well. Cornbread muffins and rolls come with every meal. Sometimes the service at Lizard's Thicket is spot on. The servers know what you need before you even know. Other times, it is pretty terrible. One Sunday I was in with 12 of my relatives. After waiting for an hour to be seated (understandable, it was a Sunday), we had to wait another 20 minutes for our drinks. When the cornbread and rolls arrived, most of our table didn't have silverware. The food came out relatively quickly after we placed our order which was good since we were about to chew our hands off. Lizard's Thicket also does to-go orders making it a good dinner option if you aren't in the mood to cook.

On our drive back home to Texas from North Carolina we decided to make a detour to find some lunch. We came across this place and I thought the name was kind of funny, so of course we should eat here. The outside of the restaurant is very cute. Like a nice little country cottage home. When you walk inside though it is transformed into a cafeteria like place, like your typical IHOP or Luby's. That's ok with me though, we needed a break and any place other than our car was welcomed. It was a busy Sunday afternoon during lunchtime so we put our name on the list and sat down in the lobby area. We waited about 5 minutes and were promptly seated, which was great! The menus are on the table so we were able to start looking at what we wanted to eat before the waitress got there. It's your typical country cookin' here, a meat (ham, turkey, roast beef, etc) with your choice of vegetables (either 1, 2 or 3 "vegetable" sides). You could also get a sandwich or a few other things, but the main thing to get seemed to be the meat plates. So we both chose ham with a few sides since we didn't get to have a Thanksgiving due to work. Our lunch got to our table very quickly, I would say within 5 minutes of ordering and I was excited! Ham, dressing and sweet potatoes are my favorite! I took a few bites and all of it was just luke warm. Meh, I'm hungry and we have a lot of driving to do, so I decided to eat it. My husband's meal was the same luke warm but he ate it too. We ate about half of our meals before deciding that was enough luke warm food and we deserved some blackberry cobbler. So, the cobbler arrived and oh man... it was perfect! It had vanilla ice cream on top that just melted into the hot cobbler. That was probably the best part of our meal. In the end, I was a little disappointed with the way our lunch was but it served it's purpose. We were full and able to continue our drive home.

My rating is on the breakfast only. This place is Southern Country Cooking at it's best. It's not my favorite style of breakfast, but I could see how others like it. Country ham and the like. I would say there weren't many "healthy options" that I could find. The service was extremely friendly, but the coffee could have been filled a little more. On a side note: you know it's authentic southern cooking when "Mac & Cheese" is a "Vegetable" option.

So we are were on our way to Charleston and the GPS gives us this short cut to I-26. We were tired, hungry and needed a break. If you have ever been down Augusta Rd we started to realize their weren't many options.....then like a oasis in a desert of fast food joints, despair and failure its a parking lot of full cars and a cute little place called Lizard's Thicket! Despite a very busy lunch time we were promptly seated. The waitress gave us the spiel and took our drink order. Tea was fresh brewed and quite tasty on a hot summer day. My wife and I both opted for the veggie plate and it was a tough decision between all the choices. Food arrived piping hot. Half way through I told the waitress to bring my mama out here cause I know she's back there.....I swear the Mac and Cheese was just like she makes it. The waitress said she wasn't there, but I swear she must have paid the place a visit. YUM!!! If you like southern cooking then by golly this is your place....If you are a Yankee then I'd doubt you would understand.
