First off I want to say that the view at this place is gorgeous! You could see lots of ships on the docks and the ocean view was wonderful too. There is even another restaurant above this one for an even higher up view. I got the three peppercorn fillet and I thought that it was really good but there was a little too much salt. I went through a lot of water as my mouth was burning! My Dad's fresh grilled tuna was great with a good chewy texture and cooked well. Overall, I would return again for some great food.

Have a friend down from Boston, and was looking for that perfect "you get it at the beach kind of ambiance" for breakfast on Sunday. After lamenting over where to go, I settled in on Isle of Palms...somewhere...anywhere. After cruising past Sea Biscuit and seeing the line of hot, hungry tourists standing in the sun waiting for seats, I wheeled right around and drove us to Morgan Creek Grill. I knew they offered a Brunch, and hadn't recalled hearing any negatives, so thought 'why not?' Seeing now that I should have turned to fellow Yelpers for help with my choice, as this was not my most stellar moment in terms of entertaining an out-of-towner... To begin, our waiter was either still intoxicated from the night before or was simply THAT CONDESCENDING by nature. We ordered one coffee, one tea, and one Mimosa. Funny thing about that Mimosa, as was quite colorful, arriving to our table in a flute covered in some other gals pink lipstick. There was no mistaking that our waiter saw this and seemingly figured he wouldn't say anything if I didn't. Plates came quick, so was optimistic, only to be let down before even tasting. People, they are only 'homefries' if you put some onions, the occasional bell pepper and a bunch of TLC into them; everything else is just a frozen, salt and preservative-coated potato hunk that you threw into a deep fryer, and frankly, leaves me wondering why I am paying the price I am for the accompanying plate of eggs. My Benedict was meh and barely warm when served; I ordered it with a filet, but will testify that it was no more than a tip. My friend ordered the Western omelet. She picked most of the RAW vegetables out of it and settled in on choking down the aforementioned potato hunks. So, two plates, one each coffee/tea and one hot pink Revlon-laced Mimosa, $51.98 before gratuity. I am a local who should know better; visitors, go elsewhere unless you have a strong stomach and are made of money. This makes me sad, because the location and the vistas and the boat activity...it's all going to waste. This venue deserves to be so much more, and employ servers and a chef who care about first and second and third impressions, and about the food and bev industry. Sooooo many AMAZING places to dine in the Lowcountry. Next time, I take my own advice!

I loved seeing the tug boat push it's barge out to sea from our table's vantage point--interesting fact...tug boats push as much as they pull. Also, why on earth on Sundays does the upper deck bar, the best view in the restaurant, not open until 1pm?? Sunday brunch features the best bloody Mary bar I've found--make sure you specify which vodka you prefer because our server didn't ask. And I do have a preference. (Charleston's own Chilled Dills Vodka!) Multiple pickled vegetables to add to your cocktail as we as other spices and ingredients! And bacon. Enough said. Don't get the huevos rancheros if you enjoy a traditional version of the dish. Theirs is severed in a mini fried tostado with shredded cheese and Pico de Gallo. Not amazing. The crab cake Benedict looked delicious but I can't speak personally to its taste. In all honesty, the food is not a reason to visit. I would come back for the live music, but the newly built stage remains empty for now for whatever red tape reason--I'll add my signature to the petition list to keep live music alive "at the creek" on the way out the door.

Looks like an amazing place for a bar or restaurant, but this one really misses the mark. It's a beautiful view from the rooftop, but that's all you get. We had a surly host/bartender and a waitress that seemed to be in over her head. I had the taco trio and it was a flavorless as plain oatmeal, My wife had the shrimp scampi pizza and it was under-cooked and also had no flavor at all. Some others had burgers that were pretty good. The live entertainment was out on the lawn, and I told the grumpy hostess that we were here to enjoy that, yet we were seated on the other side of the otherwise empty restaurant, out of sight and earshot of the performance. They advertised happy hour specials, but after we were seated we were told that the happy hour specials only applied if you were actually sitting at the bar, not at a table. Gave them a second chance the following day. Just had a couple of cocktails at the bar. The drinks were watered down and served in small plastic cups. Same miserable bartender. Ugh. Don't waste your time on this one.

This place could be great but they don't really care. It's very apparent from the service and attitude of the staff but at the end of the day food rules. Unfortunately this food is bad and getting worse. Go anywhere but here for a great meal. If you just want an appetizer and drink it's great. The view and location is awesome but these people can't make anything awesome. My wife actually got a "fillet" that was more like a sirloin tip. So strange and criminal to try and trick your customers. My vote is avoid this place for food unless you are dying. There are plenty of better options on Sullivan's Island.

Outstanding ! Great Saturday Lunch. The Admiral had a very tasty and generous Shrimp Po' Boy... She reports the dressing and the bread was Spot On- a perfect pistolet!....accompanied by a perfect side dish of Roasted Root Vegetables. I picked the Oyster-Version Po' Boy, with Slaw... Washed down with a draft of Sam Adams Seasonal. Great choice... the pairing suggested by our waiter. Bonus--- the Morgan Creek Grill is located on one of the most scenic part of the island. There isn't a bad table on the top deck. We were looking out on the waterway and Marina full of boats I can only dream of. It was a beautiful sunny day, but the deck is closed-in and has very good heaters, if you pick a chilly day. Plenty of parking. The service was prompt and friendly. Our waiter very professional. The bill was very reasonable... Good value. It's special place to take those out of town guests or your sweetie.

Overall tone of reviews is correct - really nice setting and views, very inconsistent and mediocre food. Crab cakes were not good, heavy beading. Grilled salmon was good. Sunflower crusted tuna sounded good bit flavors just clashed with very acidic sauce and mashed sweet potatoes.

We visited last year on our annual trip to WD and it was better than we even remembered. This restaurant was fantastic island dining and kid friendly. The food was more upscale (we reserved inside but casual water bar atmosphere upstairs) ;the service was great and friendly but it still had the comfortable atmosphere of a beach restaurant. The fresh catch selection is recommended. The location was prime, and it was overall an experience we will continue to repeat.

We discovered Morgan Creek Grill by accident, but it was the luckiest accident I've had. It sits overlooking the water, with great ambiance and wonderful staff. The only reason I didn't award 5 stars was the room was too warm, even though the overhead air conditioning duct was dripping condensation. We started with the crab spread with grilled focaccia, and it was delicious. Like many seafood places, they offered a seafood platter either fried or broiled. Unlike most places, they let me mix and match. So I was able to get fried oysters with broiled shrimp, scallops, and flounder. My wife had the seafood bowl and got a couple of meals out of it. We didn't have room for dessert, but the Southern Comfort pecan pie sounded too good to pass up. So, I took a piece back to our room, and enjoyed it later.

Not great. The two stars are dedicated to our very sweet server who made the experience not painful. While the server was very sweet and nothing but polite, the fried (what were we thinking?) appetizers were similar to a Joes Crab shack type of establishment, fried past the point of tasting like anything more than the fryer. Walking in, the place reminded me a bit of my great grandmothers nursing home with the clientele matching the carpeted floors and clip on earrings. I think the manager was the man wearing a plaid button up and double hoop earrings, checking his watch near guests dining as the night came within an hour of close and hanging near the bar with a television playing. My advice as a first timer to The Isle of Palms? Go to Acme Lowcountry Kitchen. The meals there are substantial and ingredients thoughtful. The service team is prompt, genuinely kind and you won't leave thinking "why did I even come here?"

For a small spinach salad and I mean small, I was charged $8 and an additional $6 for grilled chicken cutlet to put on top of it. So I would say skip the salad. My family and I really, really love this place. It was one of the first we experienced when we moved down, and we have not stopped going since. Heck, everytime we have a visitor come into town, it is a definite stop! There are several great things about Morgan Creek. One, it is located on the end of Isle of Palms and has a spectacular view. Go at sunset, and you can't beat it. Two, the food has always been really good. I'm a frequenter of the seafood bowl for dinner (mussels, clams, scallops, crab claws and more) and the crab cake sandwich for lunch. There are several facets to the restaurant. There is the main restaurant / dining area that has plenty of tables near windows that look over the water. Morgan Creek shares its land with a marina which always brings that great, water-loving atmosphere. The main area has a business casual feel and is where you'll find the large entrees. Atop the main restaurant is another bar/restaurant area that is a bit more on the casual end. It is a great place to stop if you're out at the IOP beaches or boating for a quick lunch. And again, great views. They do close this during the colder months.. and with good reason. Given the restaurant is right on the water, and the above deck doesn't have windows.. it'd get mighty chilly! Just check the website before heading down though.. they usually tell you when it is set to close, and open back up. Though that casual area closes its doors for a few months... another fun piece pops into play - the oyster roasts! These are a great time adn held every Saturday from 4-8. $15 dollars per person for all you can eat steamed oysters (served in buckets), chili (tons of topping choices) and other treats they have (last week was a jalepeno with bacon and some delish cream cheese stuff in the middle and smores for the kiddos [I'll admit I had a few]). They hold the oyster roast next to their new (well a year or so old) cabana bar on the outside of the restaurant. Though it gets a bit cold out there too... they have a few fire pits and heaters they scatter amongst the tables. And of course, they accompany the food / drink party with great local music.
Not sure how this place gets the same rating as Coda del Pesce. Great atmosphere and water view. Cool bar and outside decks. Slightly above average bar food. Nice people, great service. Great place for drinks.

We were on our way to Dewees Island and had an hour to spare. The sounds of music playing attracted us to the location. Also, the location has a fantastic view of the water way. The waitstaff was accommodating and the inside had a dressy casual atmosphere. Honestly, I thought I was underdressed with shorts and a hat, but I ended up being about the same as all others. The white table clothes made us a bit uncomfortable. In the end, I enjoyed the atmosphere and my experience. The food was decent, but very very over priced. $18 for shrimp and pasta. $19 for crab cakes. Really, nothing is below $15 on the menu and that is all before drinks, appetizers and deserts. The food prices are what earns the lower stars in my mind.

We first visited the Morgan Creek Grill for their Mother's Day brunch. While a bit pricey, the food was outstanding as was the service. We had gone under the pretext of checking the venue out for a laid back reception after our beach wedding. Meeting with their awesome event coordinator, seeing the upstairs space, and finding the food to be really good we decided to ditch the current place we had picked out for our reception and go with MCG. I have to say I am so glad we did. What a wonderful venue, with great food, and awesome staff. Their event coordinator was so willing to work with us on everything to make our day the best. From the beginning planning to keeping up with us and all the changes we made, she was fabulous. Our event went off without a hitch and we had so many compliments on the food as well as the service that we could not have been happier. MCG knows how to make you feel welcome, prepares quality food and delivers it all with a great staff. Highly recommend them for any laid back event or daily eating. We have been there three times and not once has the experience been anything short of great. Tough to find a spot that does things right consistently, but MCG does. All stars, all the time!

Good ambiance. It's a waterside bar/restaurant which has an easy-going beachy vibe. We first went on a Thursday night and couldn't get in the more formal main room or the walk-in, first come, first served upstairs. Followed up with reservations on a Friday for 8. So you'll have guessed that it's crowded, definitely as you near the weekends. Pluses-outside area for kids to play while waiting for a table and a bar for adults. Server/Waitress was good. Negatives-30 minute wait for a reservation. food-appetizer was crab dip and calamari. I found the crab dip tasty, but a little salty and the calamari was well cooked but I wasn't a big fan of the dill mayo dip that accompanied it. Among our entrees were scallops and shrimp which was cooked just right and delicious. and the shrimp and grits which I thought was just ok. the kids dishes were fine. We'd go back, but I'm not going way out of my way to get here.

One strange thing...the outside/upstairs menu is different than the inside sit-down dinning area. I ate in the dinning room, which I guess has a more upscale menu. The is the typical menu one would imagine in a water side grill. You can have your seafood prepared a variety of ways. I had linguine with clams and it was excellent. Service was awesome..a local guy waited on our table, and he didn't even blink an eye when someone mentioned "separate checks." I think this place probably has something for everyone, and is not so stuffy that you could easily take the kids.

Well the only negatives I would say was the parking situation was not great due to the harbor traffic and the bugs ate me alive since we were sitting outside (out of their control). The positives strongly outweigh. The outdoor entertainment and sand Pitt were perfect for my two children. The gator bites that I had were tremendous. My wife had oysters which were very good as well. Burger for the kids rounded out a good meal. If you find yourself in the isle of palms its a nice stop.

You know, it's hard to be too critical of this place which we frequent often while vacationing on Isle of Palms. Convenience and marina setting of the location is worth it no matter about anything else. But, having said that the food was quite "meh". We started with local stone crabs which were quite expensive but very average. at Joe's in Miami they serve it with a mustard sauce which makes it special. We were all disappointed. I had the Toby's Local Clams with white wine, garlic and linguini which had NO taste whatsoever. Seriously. when we came home my girlfriend served me Trader Joe's frozen clams prepared the same way and it was 1000 times better. MC might try to make a switcheroo with a trip to TJ's. Girlfriend had the Shrimp and Grits, which were very average and our other guests also had a mediocre experience. But, I'm sure we will be back again next year for the location and the convenience and overall the experience while in a vacation mode. So I while it is repeatable for the experience, set your expectations low for the food and enjoy the venue!

Morgan Creek Grill has always been a place I've enjoyed going...good food, great views, reasonable prices (especially upstairs during the day hours). Situated on the intercoastal waterway it's not uncommon to see dolphins and boats pass you by as you dine. The upstairs seating area can be opened to enjoy the fresh breeze coming from the sea which is very welcome on the hot days of summer. There is a pecan glazed salmon on the menu in the downstairs dining area (which is only open from 5pm-til) that is to die for.

After reading the poor reviews at the restaurant in the Wild Dunes' Boardwalk Inn (thank you fellow Yelpers), we decided to trek back out to eat. This after all day in downtown Charleston for a short weekend, but it was the right decision. I made reservations for Saturday at 8pm, we got there a little early and found we didn't need them. Great atmosphere, good food. Probably a great view but it was dark. I had the she crab soup (very good), grilled mahi mahi (fantastic) and my date had the hamburger (very good). We are definitely planning to go back and will eat at this place again (hopefully when we can enjoy the views).

I've recently been to this restaurant in the amazing Isle of Palms after a recommendation from a local resident and it was a pleasant surprise. The upstairs has a completely different menu than downstairs. Unfortunately, we didn't know that till we were seated. The service isn't the best. The cheese it awful. If you order nachos or queso dip, that cup that you think has sour cream in it is actually cheese. The flatbreads are the only good thing there. Though, the crust is sometimes burnt. The mac and cheese is small, and as I said earlier, the cheese is awful. I can't tell you about the downstairs, but I'm assuming it's better than upstairs. (Downstairs is supposed to be fancier than upstairs.)

This upscale restaurant looks out over the water. The menu has a number of seafood and pasta dishes. I got the shrimp and grits which are served in a watery gravy that I found to be too salty and garlicky. I've had better shrimp and grits where the grits were creamy and cheesy and paired with a nicely spiced tomato mixture. The Morgan Creek Grill version didn't match up. The calamari also tasted over-salted and fried without much calamari flavor coming through. My partner did like the pasta with chicken and goat cheese. The restaurant was packed and loud. The service was good. In summary, the high cost ($70+ for two entrees, tip, appetizer, and iced teas), ok-but-nothing-great food, and lack of intimacy/noise for such an upscale place leads me to give it only a 3 stars. For the price we will try another place if on Isle of Palms in the future.

We went here on the advice of a local. We both got the fried seafood, which was great. We also got the crab stuffed portobello appetizer which was AMAZING! The thing that bumped this from a 4 star to a 3 star, though, was the ambiance . It felt like a loud sports bar than anything else. We had a hard time holding a conversation because there was a large table behind us watching soccer on the TVs on the other side of us. We went on a Saturday night but didn't have a reservation, so maybe if we had, we would have been seated in the adjoining dining room rather than by the bar and it would have been a little quieter.

Visited while on vacation. View is incredible watching boats coming and going. Sat on upper deck and was allowed to bring dog. That is a big plus for us. We had fried flounder and shrimp. The food was excellent. Everything was served very hot and fresh. Would recommend and will visit again.

People asked for them. She denied them. We even watched 2 groups of people walk out, due to her. Wake up management.

First of all, the views are outstanding. The location is excellent. The drinks are delicious and the service is warm and friendly. I ate here with a large wedding party for a rehearsal dinner and the staff was so accommodating, they handled our demands beautifully. That said, the food was not great. It was okay. The appetizers were good, the soup was tasty. However I ordered the filet, med rare and it was pretty much raw. I love a good bloody steak, but this didn't even have that going and the flavor wants great. I left the middle of my steak on the plate ( not wanting to bring it up to the staff because I was stuffed anyway) and saw the staff comment on it with one another saying that it was really rare. Anyway, as other reviews seem to suggest, come here for the views, drinks and eat if you're hungry, but don't expect a spectacular meal. The Charleston area has better to offer.

I have to say that the Morgan Creek Grill Brunch had tremendous potential. It was a gorgeous day, they are located on a beautiful, waterfront spot and we were with good friends. And then, we ate there. Our visit started a bit bumpy. We arrived at noon for brunch and were told that there was a 20 minute wait, not bad. The wait went on to 35 minutes though, and get this... there were 15 open tables. So I of course, have to inquire. I said, "If there are 15 open tables why have we been waiting for 35 minutes." THEN the hostess begins this wacky explanation. "It's our service philosophy." She said. I said, "It's your philosophy to make people wait when they shouldn't have to? It appears that you're understaffed." The servers that were on were running around like mad for a restaurant that wasn't busy. She then tells me that if I'd like further clarification regarding their 'philosophy' that I could talk to a manager. Since she had given me a ton of attitude, I decided to see what the manager would say. I posed the same question and was met with a quick, "I have reservations for all of these tables." "All of them?" I asked. She said "Yes". I told her that I was glad that business was so good and that that she was still understaffed and they were in my opinion on a false wait. Just sayin'. We were finally seated at a great table that had a tremendous water view. We then waited 10 minutes for our server to arrive and when she did she was no picnic. We ordered a few beverages and she scampered off to get them. After quite a wait she returned with half of them. Apparently six drinks on a tray was her tipping point. We waited a bit more for the rest to arrive. It was at this time that I had ZERO confidence in our brunch being anything but just OK. We placed our order and enjoyed the view and the company of our friends. Tick Tock... 25 minutes later our brunch arrived. Although 25 minutes doesn't sound like a long time, the restaurant was barely half full. Those "reservations" for the cast of Ben Hur never materialized. The kid's meals, chicken fingers and a hot dog were enjoyed, but there's really not much you can do to mess up those meals. The Swiss and mushroom omelet with grits was a fan favorite. The cheeseburger that was explained to be cooked medium to medium well was over well done. The Filet Benedict was also tasty, but way past the medium temp which was ordered. Apparently the only temperature that the broil cook can muster is well done. And then there was my sandwich. A very dead-sat-in-the-window-too-long Reuben with cold fries. I know that I often get comments that I should speak of at the time of the issue, but I felt it would really put a damper on the meal. At certain times some things are better left unsaid. Morgan Creek Grill still remained a place with incredible views, so come for that and hope for the best with food.

I recently dined at Morgan Creek with four friends while staying on IOP. We did not have reservations, but were able to get a table immediately. On this visit, the service was good and I was quite pleased with the food. We started with an order of calamari and it was tasty and not over-cooked. For dinner, I ordered the Mahi-Mahi special which was served with Jasmine rice and steamed veggies. The food was properly seasoned and prepared. I thought the prices were very reasonable.

Excellent view and fun atmosphere! We went about 4 or 5 times while we were on holiday there. The staff were all super nice and friendly. The food is typical bar food...nothing special, but everything tasted great. I will be going back the next time I am in town!!

I just got back from a trip to Isle of Palms with my family (we're from the Midwest- Chicago and Cincinnati) and we chose to spend our last night at Morgan Creek Grill. We got off to a bit of a rocky start since the host upstairs had a bit of an attitude and when we were texted that our table was ready, had to awkwardly stand up by the hostess stand for ~15 minutes while our table was being bussed off....but once we were seated, our experience was wonderful. Our server was kind and helpful and the food was delicious! I had she crab soup and the catch of the day (salmon) with mashed potatoes and asparagus--all yum, yum, yum. We were seated on the lower level by the water and it was very calm, serene and lovely. There was a one-man band playing live music a few yards away and he was very talented and provided a nice ambiance. We'd been seated at the outside bar for ~75 mintues before we were seated and enjoyed the music even up close. The bar tender who helped us while we waiting was attentive, speedy and fun. Next time we're in Isle of Palms (which I hope is very soon!), I will make a point to return to Morgan Creek Grill--though we'll probably make a reservation so we don't have to wait quite as long. Just a quick tip to the hostess staff (I was a hostess for 6 years through high school and college, so I know what a stressful job it can be! :)), don't call large groups up and tell them their table is ready until it's actually ready for them to sit down- no one likes to feel like they're in the way.

Hit the upstairs area with out of town family members a few nights ago. Had the Dragon tacos. They were the worst thing I think I've ever eaten. The taco was a corn shell that was mealy and had a nasty taste. However, the gator meat in the taco was grisly to the point you could barely chew it. Plus, there wasn't much meat in it. I think the upstairs area is going downhill quickly. Over the years, I've eaten there a bunch. I'm really disappointed! Probably won't eat there again until things change. TAKE HEED MORGAN CREEK OWNERS!!

From beloved local hang out to tourist trap in a few short years. My husband and I have been coming to Isle of Palms for 25 years and used to love the casual Upper Deck of the Morgan Creek Grill. It was a long-standing tradition to go there the first night we arrived on the island; we'd sit at the bar and have drinks and food, watching the boats in the marina and enjoying a beautiful sunset. Sad to say, with I believe more than one change of ownership over the last few years the place is now nothing more than an overpriced tourist trap. The first disappointment was when they eliminated fresh shrimp cocktail from the menu, which had always been one of our favorite things since the quality of the fresh shrimp off the boats down here is unparalleled. No good explanation, just "we don't have that anymore." Then the menu kept changing, evolving from a casual offering of sandwiches and wraps to an odd assortment of overpriced items ranging from flatbread pizzas to mini-steaks to calamari to alligator --- none of it particularly good. Drinks are so watered down that cocktails taste as though the ice has been melting in them for an hour. Raise the price if you must, but don't insult me by offering diluted drinks. I've modified my expectations over the years to deal with disappointment after disappointment. No shrimp cocktail? OK, I'll try to find a different appetizer I might like (no luck so far). Pricier menu? I'll look for the more affordable items. Watery cocktails? Well, better stick to beer or wine. Finally I realized that I was making all of these concessions to eat at a restaurant that obviously didn't value me as a customer. By the way, this is not a review of the much more expensive restaurant on the main level. We used to really enjoy the food there about fifteen years ago but again, a change in ownership meant that some of our favorite menu items disappeared and quality deteriorated as well. Perhaps it's improved, but it's been so long since I bothered dining there that I don't feel qualified to render an opinion. I'm sure both the main restaurant and Upper Deck will do just fine without our business. The location and views are unbeatable and there are plenty of gullible tourists to keep the place packed, especially in season. However, I suspect the locals will eventually fall by the wayside. Perhaps a big loss of business in the winter months will make the owners rethink some of their recent choices, but somehow I doubt it.

Even as a Charleston native, I don't get to make it out to IOP as I would like. I must say, however, that I really do enjoy going to Morgan Creek when I get the chance! To catch a sunset, you really can't beat it. They really do have an incredible view! I have held a few gatherings there and always love personal dinners! As far as staff, I have always had generally positive experiences. The staff has generally been friendly, relatively knowledgeable and willing to be flexible with requests. The food has been well prepared and fairly timely. . .not that I minded a few extra minutes to have with my friends. As far as leadership, I just met the "new" events director, Marybeth. This lady is dynamic! She seems to really have the know how to make your party successful! I, as well, have had prior planning experience, so I really have had zero issues with either parties or personal meals that I have had there in the past. I look forward to my next event there, as it promises to be better than ever! As for the not-so-positive experiences that have been shared. . . My thoughts on restaurant visits is generally the same, talk to the leaders if the key players aren't playing properly. You are helping the leaders lead effectively when offering solid, specific and detailed feedback. They want to be a success as badly as you want them to!

It looked like a nice restaurant from the outside but the experience was not that great. First, we made a reservation for 8:30. We were told at the front desk when we arrived that they would text us when the table was ready. I was almost 9:00pm and they still hadn't texted us yet so we went back to the front to ask what was going on. The girl said "Oh, I guess we can seat you now." That made it clearly evident that they dropped the ball. There were several tables open but they just forgot to let us know, causing us to wait. Next, the service was a bit less than average. Our waiter wasn't rude, but he just wasn't friendly. He seemed in a hurry to get away from our table and wasn't very attentive. He gave my friend cold coffee and seemed apathetic when my friend informed him. There was no "I'm sorry", but rather a care-free attitude. Next, the food was hit or miss. The sushi nachos were good, but it was almost all lettuce with a few chips spread out. A BIG disappointment. The pulled pork Korean tacos were tasty though. My pork chop was not that good and wasn't really tender. My wife's chicken tasted good but had a weird texture. This might be all ok, but the prices were so high. If I had paid $10-$12 for my pork it would make sense, but not for $19-22 a plate. They seemed like they could not keep up with how crowded it was to maintain a nice dining atmosphere. I'm not sure I'd go back unless it were less crowded. And I'd order something cheaper and easier.

Took forever for someone to come to the table, and the place was only half full. We were on the upstairs porch, probably an hour after the lunch rush. One "Jeffie" came over, he was very unpersonable. We ordered, he brought us some warm beers, then our food FINALLY came out. Meh. Not one person was impressed, even the girls who ordered "the highly recommended and really good" fish tacos. He said he would take a beer off the check - I guess because it was clearly a bachlorette party. and he decided to be nice? - but that didn't happen. Don't say it but then not do it! Pretty views but lots of places have those. Go elsewhere!

I'm surprised Morgan Creek doesn't have a better rating. Morgan Creek has some really good seafood (the best I've had on IOP). I really like the way they blacken their fish. I've also had the shrimp and grits which was a really good dish. The restaurant is at the harbor, offering a great view of the boats and the Intercoastal Waterway. The service can be slow at times, but most of the times I've been there, it hasn't been a problem. I go every time I'm in IOP, and I will continue to do so.

Probably the best sunsets in all of Charleston, SC. Over 40 tables "with a view" (on the Intracoastal Waterway). Live music. Great people. Always packed during the season. Dead in off season. Season runs from Easter till shortly after Labor Day. The "locals" enjoy it. You can tell by the number of golf carts parked in the sand (near the boat landing).

Reviewing the restaurant inside, not the bar outside First the bar outside and Carrie the bartendress was great. She made a fantastic rum punch that she prides herself for. I would have attached a picture but it looks like yelp does not have that option anymore. For a hot day, this was great (or three depending if you are driving a car, golf cart or walking or boating!) The inside view especially the windows overlooking the marina and the island was beautiful. The table next to us asked to up the air because of the heat and we did as well. The young inexperienced waiter was not helpful and said that the manager would not likely do anything about it. The food was very bland and the chef was not one. They are just making food, and not putting any flavor into the dishes. This is a sure sign of owner decision to save costs and increase profits without thinking of reputation. My wife ordered a cup of coffee at the end of the meal and the chocolate cake with chocolate drizzled over it. What came was cold (not even warm) coffee and the cake. Beautiful looking but it came with a nice big hair ! I took a picture just to show you but yelp does not allow this anymore? This shows no interest from the management to have a quality product. With two strikes, every restaurant with an interest in customer service and reputation would have the manager running out and making a fuss. But this young waiter had to do it himself, which was only a "sorry, ill get you another" The Hair was disgusting as you would be able to see in the picture. You make up your own mind.

Blackened salmon was cooked perfect. Slightly sweet collard greens were so good, I could have eaten a whole garden of them. Grits were smooth and just a tad of the sawmill taste. Not a fan of the green tablecloth but that was minor. Missed 4-5 stars because service was off. Had to ask multiple times for items such as refills, lemons and place settings and for the prices of the entrees, this was an issue.

This is a great choice for people who want a good dinner, but don't want to venture off the island. Food and service are good. The restaurant is popular so it can be loud in the dining room. Atmosphere: Pretty view and a nice place for a beer. Weekend boater chic. Service: A big pile of meh. Don't go at non-peak hours. Don't go if your trying to catch a movie or anything, but friendly. Bottom Line: Grab a beer, watch the boats, be really patient.

After three different summers - it is still hit or miss. The stone crab fingers are not good. A friend liked the salmon a lot. The rice and beans is very good. The hubby and another friend really liked their beef "special" that's not on the main menu. They have an appetizer with beef bites - it's pretty good. Their libations are also hit or miss. If you order off their specialty menu, they're typically okay. Order anything else and it might not be what you expect/want.

Cool spot on the inner bay with plenty of bar space, multiple levels, and a huge restaurant. I only wish there was more of a people-watching scene. Came here on a weekday for a solo meal at the bar downstairs, inside. Friendly bartender, great service, two TV's at each end. There were only two others there at the bar, both locals. It seemed like it was mostly locals anyway. There are two bars downstairs...indoor and outdoor, and another upstairs that is covered with surrounding bay views of the water and boats...a real nice, mellow spot. This place is a great drinking spot for the mellow crowd. Be warned though...cops on IOP are very bored with their lives and will pull you over without hesitation. Do not speed while on the island. If you are drinking...watch it. It is not worth rewening a great happy hour buzz with bracelets that clamp in front of your back. The menu is heavy seafood with reasonable prices. There are a few dishes such as a pasta and a chicken. I ordered a 10 oz. NY strip special, and it was great. The mushroom sauce covering it was delicious. Blue cheese mashed and spinach sides were all fresh and complimented it well.

I wish I had something nice to say about the food but I don't. The waiter forgot our appetizer, the She crab soup was congealed and chunky and grease was rising to the top of the soup. The spinach salad was small for $8 and the dressing was watery and tasteless. Though the food came out quickly, the waiter never came back to check on us. Thank goodness for the waitress who cleared our table noticed the disgusting condition of the soup and immediately offered to take the soup off our bill without us asking. Even with the two soups taken off we paid $60 and that was just for two meals, the inedible salads and a beer and wine. Except for the lovely view, I found nothing redeeming about the place.

Three and a half stars please! We had dinner on a weeknight, no rezzies, party of 8, and were seated in the bar area, which was fun for us on a night when basketball was on TV. Could have done without the gator tacos one of us ordered for the table -- but on the other hand, if out on the deck having drinks and appetizers, they might be fun. Our happiest diners ordered one of the three fresh fish specials, which can be done up in any of three preparations. Look, there is a lot of amazing food in the Charleston area and Morgan Creek does not try to compete, just good fresh seafood specialties in a nice, scenic and friendly setting for multi-generational parties. (TIP -- Dining room looked a little more quiet and romantic.) Oddly, one brother ordered shortrib ravioli in a mushroom sauce and it was to die for.

I wouldn't go back here with all the other options available. Our dinner party of 8 was seated 30 minutes after we arrived. We had requested a view, when we were seated there were three tables with a view, and they gave us an interior table. I complained to the manager, and he was useless. Luckily, our waitress was super nice and almost made up for his lack of caring. My opinion about the food, decor, service is that you could go to Bennigan's or Red Lobster and have a similar or better experience for 1/3 of the price. Nothing wowwed us. The crab dip was meh, but the marinara sauce that came with the fried calamari wasn't bad. My husband did think the grouper catch of the day was pretty good though. My fried pecan flounder over grits was TERRIBLE; to the point where I almost just didn't eat it, but felt rude. The only thing that was not terrible and almost worth while were the desserts. The pecan pie was good, the Mudd Pluff was heavy but good, and i think we had a special bread pudding that was the standout. regardless, never again.

Morgan Creek is a short bike ride or walk from the residences on the Isle of Palms. Seating is super air conditioned on the main floor. The enclosed upper deck is a little too warm but the upper open deck is just right with seating under an umbrella with the sea breeze. We had lots of ice tea with refills always at our table before we were done finishing our glass. Great fish that can be ordered however you would like it cooked. Nice salad portions and an assortment of dressings for a cool lunch while the boats drifted in an out of the harbor. A relaxing break mid day or in the evening makes this a perfect dining experience anytime.

The location and the views are phenomenal, especially from the upper deck. The food is better than average and the service has always been good. They just started serving breakfast and it was very, very good! My house is on 42nd Ave. so it beats driving down to the Sea Biscuit (cash only) for a nice breakfast/brunch. Their Bloody Mary Bar for the Sunday Brunch is a nice touch, pick your Vodka brand then go load it up with tons of fixins from olives, pepperonis, cheeses, to celery stalks.

Having not returned to Morgan Creek Grill for a year, we decided to give it another try. We were immediately reminded why we had been absent for a year and won't return again. Calmari was cooked to rubber, asian spring rolls had no flavor, shrimp basket was heavy on fries, light on shrimp. These were the appetizer highlights, all elegantly served in red plastic baskets, plastic ramekins and cocktails served in plastic cups. Morgan Creek survives on IOP summer tourism and the attitude of the staff appears to be - "we won't see them again, who cares". I'm not sure why the owners missed the chapter " local traffic will sustain the restaurant for the balance of the year". So if over-priced, indifferently prepared meals are what you're after "meet me at the Creek".

Nice view from the deck, good mimosa, yummy fries. Everything else is just meh. Service was a tad spotty and my mahi mahi was very dry and bland. If you like views of docked boats and whatever food, this is your place. Otherwise, I'm sure there are better places around.

As the host was taking us to our table, I quickly decided which seat I was going to occupy ... the one by the window. The view was amazing. We got to see several barges go by (excitement for the kids) and watched the sunlight fade away to darkness. The food was delicious. W (my 10 year nephew) had a blast choosing his meal ... this was the first trip that he has been choosing from the main menu instead of the kid's menu. He had a hard time, because he takes after his foodie father, everything sounded good to him. He ended up choosing a pasta dish that made his eyes light up. I don't think there was anything left on his plate at the end of the meal.

Considering all of the options in the Isle of Palms I would look elsewhere. The wait staff is way over tabled and they are so busy you can barely get refills or new drink orders. I thought that the prices were quite high considering the quality of the food. Almost all of our group got seafood and as a whole it was way over cooked. The soups were mediocre and over salted and made me think they are using pre-made bases for them.

Hopped in to the casual upstairs section for happy hour while we were docked for emergency repair on the boat's diesel engine. Half-price appetizers from 4-7 pm, daily. Got the "crab fingers" (deep fried crab claw bits - it's the "thumb" part of the crab claw, with a bit of meat attached to it, breaded) and the portabella fries. Both of them have the same heavy spiced breading. Crab fingers are supposed to come with remoulade, the portabella fries with blue cheese dressing. As I recall, both of them came with remoulade on the first round, which I liked better than their blue cheese. It was nice to find something other than the typical bar menu of jalapeno poppers and mozarella sticks. I wouldn't go out of my way for this (i.e. don't make a special trip to Isle of Palms to seek this out), but we liked it well enough to order a second round of each. They're very kid-friendly, as evidenced by the many kids present each night. They do special for-kids mocktails, and have crayons and a picture to color in, as well as plenty of booster seats and high chairs. Didn't stay for dinner; didn't feel like paying their prices. (The marina's pricey for what you get - $2/foot, showers and *a sauna* but no laundry, and $7/day (!!!) for electricity hookup. After paying that, we weren't in the mood for dinner-with-a-view costs.) Nice view of the river and the docks.

My third brunch visit proves I officially don't like this place. My waffle was sad looking and cold, as was my bacon. My wife's crab cake sandwich was again fishy, something she thought might've been a fluke when she first ordered it in December. Nova, however, did like the fried shrimp po' boy on our second visit in May, but I left disappointed then as well. My entree that visit was so memorable, I can't even recall it. It was a sandwich, I think. As others have mentioned, the view is great, but the accolades end there. Go for a drink, but not to eat.

It was wonderful from the moment we stepped inside the front door. The hostess picked up on our desire to sit outside on the upper deck for the view but we hesitated because we also wanted the extensive inside menu. To compromise she suggested a window table inside in order to enjoy the sunset view over Morgans Creek. It was tucked away next to the window with a great view; secluded and very romantic. Our server (Beth) was outstanding, just precious. I had the tilapia filet topped with crab and goat cheese over wilted spinach and my husband had grilled mahi mahi "low country" with grits and collards. Both were fabulous. We are going back today for lunch on the upper deck. Bottom line - if you are in Isle of Palms, I highly recommend you visit Morgans Creek Grill at the IOP Marina!

To be honest, I was shocked that the food here was as poorly executed as it was. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt and say they were just busy, but at an average price of $20 per dinner entree, I don't know that I can afford to give them a second chance. The two stars are for the view, the service, and the fact that the food was COOKED relatively well. It was so under-seasoned that it almost tasted like water. All of the textures were there (mostly), but I was left feeling utterly unsatisfied. My husband and I shared the Dragon Tacos (with gator meat) as an app: good flavors here, but the gator meat reminded me of that really rubbery pork you sometimes end up with at a bad Chinese take-out joint. Maybe I just don't know gator meat... but if that's what it was supposed to be like, they should take it off the menu. You only get so many points for an adventurous protein. For dinner, I had the crab cakes which came with grits and sauteed veggies. My crab cakes had great texture but very little seasoning. Like... not even salt. Same with the grits. The veg also lacked any seasoning whatsoever and were also barely cooked through. One of my carrots was almost raw. Which is fine, but not what was supposed to appear on my plate! My husband's leg of duck looked like a joke. Anemic duck leg, a mound of sweet potato mash, and something else in the same color family. He had the same complaint: pretty good cook on everything, but NO SEASONING. All in all, I came away from the meal feeling very full, but when I'm paying a higher price, I expect to feel like the meal was worth the calories. Sadly, this meal was not. Go for the view and some drinks. The bang for the buck on food just isn't there for me. Sorry, guys.

We ate at Morgan Creek Grill on our first night in Isle of Palms and, overall, had a good experience. It wasn't great, but I'd give it another chance if we're ever back in the area. From our table we had a nice view of the water, and our waiter was nice and patient with our indecisive party of nine. The food was just so-so, in my opinion. I had the fried shrimp and scallops, and while I can't quite pinpoint what was wrong with them, I can definitely say that I've had better. They were sort of bland tasting.

He showed little interest in making the dining experience for restaurant patrons...pleasant. In fact, he over charged us by adding an extra glass of wine and he was not quick to resolve the issue. Bottom line, avoid it, there are plenty of other places on Isle of Palms that serve great food that will fill you up at a better price. I'm still hungry... Ok, I should start by saying I'm not a seafood person, so maybe I just don't get places like this. My wife loves seafood and she really liked it, that's why it gets a 3 instead of a 2. Location - this place is listed as having outdoor seating... um, I don't think so. It's all one big crowded room. The view is ok, but it faces the waterway, not the ocean. We called ahead, made a reservation, and specifically asked for a table with a view and that request was acknowledged. When we got there we still had to wait 20 minutes past our reservation time and were seated right in the middle of the dining room. We could see outside, but only over other people's heads. Service - The wait staff was great, but clearly stretched too thin so service was slow. The host staff, well given my above experience I'm very unimpressed. Food - The food tasted great. My wife got the fresh tuna, and she loved it. I got the Ravioli, and it tasted excellent. However, the portions were way too small. My wife is 100 lbs and she ate all of her meal. It was just the right portion for her. However since I am not 100 lbs you can probably imagine that I polished off my Ravioli as if it were an appetizer. This wouldn't have been a big deal except that that given the price I would have expected to have a bunch leftover. Price - This is the real problem with this place. It is listed as $$, it really should be $$$. Yes the entrees are almost all under $30, but there is no way you are spending under $30 per person and getting out of here full.

We ate at the upper deck part of the restaurant. It's first come, first serve - no reservations. We came on a Friday night and heard some live music and watched the boats coming in. Many locals float in an hang out here upstairs. We had gator bites (some a little fatty, but the sauce was great) and the Texan burger. The burger was huge (big enough for us to split) and delicious. The views from upstairs are amazing. It's a great atmosphere for hanging out and having a few drinks.

Great view, just the kind of place for a sunny afternoon. Food is just ok, not great. We tried it for Sunday Brunch. Menu is too heavily focused on variations of eggs benedict, in fact I'd suggest those are really the only "brunch" options. I had a flounder po-boy. It was ok, pretty typical fried fish and french fries. I wouldn't make it a regular spot but since its on the marina and has an nice view and the food is marginally better than anything on Shem Creek, I'd give it a slight recommendation.

Sat on the upstairs rooftop and listened to acoustic live music, tried the nachos extreme, the crab dip was good and we generally come straight to Morgan Creek when we get into town, mainly for the views. (we see dolphins there almost nightly).. anyway its a mainstay for the island and we even met the mayor while we were there.. You won't be wowed but it will be good for sure..

It's a good thing that they have a great view. There were seven of us eating lunch at MCG on Saturday and none of us liked any of the food. The fried shrimp, fish & oysters were soggy and tasteless. Oh, and the check was just over $100 for the 7 of us at lunch with NO alcohol. So, they won't get any more of our hard earned money. Surly waitresses to boot. Never experienced such slackness in a marina type environment.

I like a lot of things about this place. First off, the food was excellent. It's expensive but not exorbitant, I think that Surf & Turf was the most expensive thing on the menu at $25. Speaking of which, the Surf & Turf was awesome. I'm not a lobster aficionado but it was very tasty; the petite fillet with shallot demi glace was tender and delicious. The she-crab soup was good too; it had an interesting citrus kick. What else is there to like? Well, it's on the Intracoastal and it has that classic fancy-casual feel that you get at nicer beach restaurants. The bar has indoor and outdoor service with windows and fans for the exterior. Another thing that I was really impressed with was their wine service. The have good sized Stolzle glasses and gave 6 to 7 oz. pours. The selection was pretty good too with three to four by-the-glass choices from the more common varietals plus a couple of less standard options. Wines by the glass were mostly $7 to $10 and bottles started at $30.

We had a calamari appetizer that tasted as if Mrs. Paul had a hand in it's preparation. I'm torn between 2 and 3 stars, so call it 2 1/2. This place seems to get a lot of positive press (the guy we rented our condo from, as well as a friend who is familiar with IOP both recommended MCG as a "favorite spot"). Aside from the atmosphere, I don't see what is so redeeming about this place. All of the food was simply AVERAGE. Service was inexperienced. We never received any bread at the table (maybe they don't "do" bread but I generally expect it at a seafood-type restaurant). I had the crab cakes for my entree...two cakes that were either a) not made from jumbo lump (I suspect) or b) made with jumbo lump by someome idiotic enough to pulverize it into a paste. The cakes tasted good but the texture wasn't quite right. I did like the herb aioli that came on top of the cakes, but would have preferred it on the side instead. I had the choice of one side, plus veggie of the day. I went with grits and they were simply awful. Your child's school cafeteria probably serves better grits than this. No flavor, rubbery texture. The veg of the day was string beans and baby carrots. I loathe when restaurants use baby carrots as a cooked side item. It just seems like "Oh! We have these carrots that we use as a side dish on the kids menu, let's saute them up with a little butter and call it the veg of the day!". I can do that at home, thanks. My husband had the fried seafood platter - shrimp and scallops. He enjoyed both, the fries on the side were decent, cole slaw was terrible. Overall, we left feeling really disappointed because 1) recommendations were so good and there's no reason for it and 2) we don't get seafood often in Illinois and really hoped to be "wowed" a bit more...this did not cut it. I would choose the Boathouse over this any day. We would definitely not go back.

Most of the reviews here are for dinner and brunch, so I thought I would add my two cents on the lunch menu. Lunch is served exclusively on the Upper Deck, an open air dining and bar area with covered and uncovered portions. The upper deck is far more causal than dinner is described: servers wear t-shirts and shorts, and it was a very casual atmosphere. Great view overlooking the marina, with the marshes surrounding. It got a bit warm on this particular day, but it was an exceptionally hot day and the restaruant did all they could with over a dozen ceiling and wall fans turned on full. Service was fast and friendly, and the menu offered soup, appetizers, salads, and a variety of beef, fish, and chicken sandwiches. All platters offer a choice of sides like fries, cole slaw, and pasta salad averaging $8-10 per platter. Special of the day was a summer spinach salad with strawberries and goat cheese. I had blackened fish on a pita with pasta salad, which was served with in minutes of my order. The sandwich was very good, and the pasta salad was fresh and cool. I was a little disappointed that it was basically macaroni salad, as I was hoping for something a little more - but it was well prepared so no complaint. My wife had a hamburger with fries and quite enjoyed it.

First off I want to say that the view at this place is gorgeous! You could see lots of ships on the docks and the ocean view was wonderful too. There is even another restaurant above this one for an even higher up view. I got the three peppercorn fillet and I thought that it was really good but there was a little too much salt. I went through a lot of water as my mouth was burning! My Dad's fresh grilled tuna was great with a good chewy texture and cooked well. Overall, I would return again for some great food.

Have a friend down from Boston, and was looking for that perfect "you get it at the beach kind of ambiance" for breakfast on Sunday. After lamenting over where to go, I settled in on Isle of Palms...somewhere...anywhere. After cruising past Sea Biscuit and seeing the line of hot, hungry tourists standing in the sun waiting for seats, I wheeled right around and drove us to Morgan Creek Grill. I knew they offered a Brunch, and hadn't recalled hearing any negatives, so thought 'why not?' Seeing now that I should have turned to fellow Yelpers for help with my choice, as this was not my most stellar moment in terms of entertaining an out-of-towner... To begin, our waiter was either still intoxicated from the night before or was simply THAT CONDESCENDING by nature. We ordered one coffee, one tea, and one Mimosa. Funny thing about that Mimosa, as was quite colorful, arriving to our table in a flute covered in some other gals pink lipstick. There was no mistaking that our waiter saw this and seemingly figured he wouldn't say anything if I didn't. Plates came quick, so was optimistic, only to be let down before even tasting. People, they are only 'homefries' if you put some onions, the occasional bell pepper and a bunch of TLC into them; everything else is just a frozen, salt and preservative-coated potato hunk that you threw into a deep fryer, and frankly, leaves me wondering why I am paying the price I am for the accompanying plate of eggs. My Benedict was meh and barely warm when served; I ordered it with a filet, but will testify that it was no more than a tip. My friend ordered the Western omelet. She picked most of the RAW vegetables out of it and settled in on choking down the aforementioned potato hunks. So, two plates, one each coffee/tea and one hot pink Revlon-laced Mimosa, $51.98 before gratuity. I am a local who should know better; visitors, go elsewhere unless you have a strong stomach and are made of money. This makes me sad, because the location and the vistas and the boat activity...it's all going to waste. This venue deserves to be so much more, and employ servers and a chef who care about first and second and third impressions, and about the food and bev industry. Sooooo many AMAZING places to dine in the Lowcountry. Next time, I take my own advice!

4 stars, because the view earns a star all on it's own. Otherwise, the food and service earns 3 stars from me. I loved seeing the tug boat push it's barge out to sea from our table's vantage point--interesting fact...tug boats push as much as they pull. Also, why on earth on Sundays does the upper deck bar, the best view in the restaurant, not open until 1pm?? Sunday brunch features the best bloody Mary bar I've found--make sure you specify which vodka you prefer because our server didn't ask. And I do have a preference. (Charleston's own Chilled Dills Vodka!) Multiple pickled vegetables to add to your cocktail as we as other spices and ingredients! And bacon. Enough said. Don't get the huevos rancheros if you enjoy a traditional version of the dish. Theirs is severed in a mini fried tostado with shredded cheese and Pico de Gallo. Not amazing. The crab cake Benedict looked delicious but I can't speak personally to its taste. In all honesty, the food is not a reason to visit. I would come back for the live music, but the newly built stage remains empty for now for whatever red tape reason--I'll add my signature to the petition list to keep live music alive "at the creek" on the way out the door.

I serve others & I serve with a smile because people deserve kindness, cheerfulness & smiles! I don't know the name of our server but he sucked at his job. Our view on the deck was outstanding, the calamari was superb... Loved the fried peppers in there... Delicious simply grilled tuna & mahi mahi! The shrimp & grits were just ok... We've had far better grits! Our nightcap at the outdoor bar by the boat ramp was delightful as well & served up by delightful bartenders! We still will go back! Sure do miss the live rooftop music! Looks like an amazing place for a bar or restaurant, but this one really misses the mark. It's a beautiful view from the rooftop, but that's all you get. We had a surly host/bartender and a waitress that seemed to be in over her head. I had the taco trio and it was a flavorless as plain oatmeal, My wife had the shrimp scampi pizza and it was under-cooked and also had no flavor at all. Some others had burgers that were pretty good. The live entertainment was out on the lawn, and I told the grumpy hostess that we were here to enjoy that, yet we were seated on the other side of the otherwise empty restaurant, out of sight and earshot of the performance. They advertised happy hour specials, but after we were seated we were told that the happy hour specials only applied if you were actually sitting at the bar, not at a table. Gave them a second chance the following day. Just had a couple of cocktails at the bar. The drinks were watered down and served in small plastic cups. Same miserable bartender. Ugh. Don't waste your time on this one.

This place could be great but they don't really care. It's very apparent from the service and attitude of the staff but at the end of the day food rules. Unfortunately this food is bad and getting worse. Go anywhere but here for a great meal. If you just want an appetizer and drink it's great. The view and location is awesome but these people can't make anything awesome. My wife actually got a "fillet" that was more like a sirloin tip. So strange and criminal to try and trick your customers. My vote is avoid this place for food unless you are dying. There are plenty of better options on Sullivan's Island.

Outstanding ! Great Saturday Lunch. The Admiral had a very tasty and generous Shrimp Po' Boy... She reports the dressing and the bread was Spot On- a perfect pistolet!....accompanied by a perfect side dish of Roasted Root Vegetables. I picked the Oyster-Version Po' Boy, with Slaw... Washed down with a draft of Sam Adams Seasonal. Great choice... the pairing suggested by our waiter. Bonus--- the Morgan Creek Grill is located on one of the most scenic part of the island. There isn't a bad table on the top deck. We were looking out on the waterway and Marina full of boats I can only dream of. It was a beautiful sunny day, but the deck is closed-in and has very good heaters, if you pick a chilly day. Plenty of parking. The service was prompt and friendly. Our waiter very professional. The bill was very reasonable... Good value. It's special place to take those out of town guests or your sweetie.

Overall tone of reviews is correct - really nice setting and views, very inconsistent and mediocre food. Crab cakes were not good, heavy beading. Grilled salmon was good. Sunflower crusted tuna sounded good bit flavors just clashed with very acidic sauce and mashed sweet potatoes.

We visited last year on our annual trip to WD and it was better than we even remembered. This restaurant was fantastic island dining and kid friendly. The food was more upscale (we reserved inside but casual water bar atmosphere upstairs) ;the service was great and friendly but it still had the comfortable atmosphere of a beach restaurant. The fresh catch selection is recommended. The location was prime, and it was overall an experience we will continue to repeat.

We discovered Morgan Creek Grill by accident, but it was the luckiest accident I've had. It sits overlooking the water, with great ambiance and wonderful staff. The only reason I didn't award 5 stars was the room was too warm, even though the overhead air conditioning duct was dripping condensation. We started with the crab spread with grilled focaccia, and it was delicious. Like many seafood places, they offered a seafood platter either fried or broiled. Unlike most places, they let me mix and match. So I was able to get fried oysters with broiled shrimp, scallops, and flounder. My wife had the seafood bowl and got a couple of meals out of it. We didn't have room for dessert, but the Southern Comfort pecan pie sounded too good to pass up. So, I took a piece back to our room, and enjoyed it later.

I've always liked this place, and I still love the ambiance. Watching the boats come in and out is great fun. However, the food this last visit was just not good. My filet which cost $26 was not a filet, at all. I m guessing it was a sirloin tip. My daughters shrimp was so over cooked that she couldn't eat them. I love the atmosphere of the restaurant. It has some of the best views in Charleston. The food also is good. My only disappointment is that the kid's meals don't include the drink. I think it is ridiculous to add on a $2.50 charge for a kid's drink. Please consider including a drink with the kid's meal.

Not great. The two stars are dedicated to our very sweet server who made the experience not painful. While the server was very sweet and nothing but polite, the fried (what were we thinking?) appetizers were similar to a Joes Crab shack type of establishment, fried past the point of tasting like anything more than the fryer. Walking in, the place reminded me a bit of my great grandmothers nursing home with the clientele matching the carpeted floors and clip on earrings. I think the manager was the man wearing a plaid button up and double hoop earrings, checking his watch near guests dining as the night came within an hour of close and hanging near the bar with a television playing. My advice as a first timer to The Isle of Palms? Go to Acme Lowcountry Kitchen. The meals there are substantial and ingredients thoughtful. This restaurant has a great view. We had a big party and went there for lunch. I was very disappointed with the food. For a small spinach salad and I mean small, I was charged $8 and an additional $6 for grilled chicken cutlet to put on top of it. So I would say skip the salad. The She Crab soup was very watered down with a little flavor. My suggestion is go for drinks and enjoy the view.

My family and I really, really love this place. It was one of the first we experienced when we moved down, and we have not stopped going since. Heck, everytime we have a visitor come into town, it is a definite stop! There are several great things about Morgan Creek. One, it is located on the end of Isle of Palms and has a spectacular view. Go at sunset, and you can't beat it. Two, the food has always been really good. I'm a frequenter of the seafood bowl for dinner (mussels, clams, scallops, crab claws and more) and the crab cake sandwich for lunch. There are several facets to the restaurant. There is the main restaurant / dining area that has plenty of tables near windows that look over the water. Morgan Creek shares its land with a marina which always brings that great, water-loving atmosphere. The main area has a business casual feel and is where you'll find the large entrees. Atop the main restaurant is another bar/restaurant area that is a bit more on the casual end. It is a great place to stop if you're out at the IOP beaches or boating for a quick lunch. And again, great views. They do close this during the colder months.. and with good reason. Given the restaurant is right on the water, and the above deck doesn't have windows.. it'd get mighty chilly! Just check the website before heading down though.. they usually tell you when it is set to close, and open back up. Though that casual area closes its doors for a few months... another fun piece pops into play - the oyster roasts! These are a great time adn held every Saturday from 4-8. $15 dollars per person for all you can eat steamed oysters (served in buckets), chili (tons of topping choices) and other treats they have (last week was a jalepeno with bacon and some delish cream cheese stuff in the middle and smores for the kiddos [I'll admit I had a few]). They hold the oyster roast next to their new (well a year or so old) cabana bar on the outside of the restaurant. Though it gets a bit cold out there too... they have a few fire pits and heaters they scatter amongst the tables. And of course, they accompany the food / drink party with great local music.

We went here for a rehearsal dinner. While the weather did not cooperate so we could sit out on the top deck, they accommodated us in a private room. The service was great and I should mention that there was two servers that went above and beyond. The food was great, everything was fresh and you could tell it was made in house. We were given several options to chose from for dinner. I had a spinach salad, filet, green beans, mashed potatoes and creme brûlée. The spinach salad with a goat cheese medallion was amazing. I was impressed that my steak came out cooked as I requested considering there were ~30 people in our party. My only suggestion is that it was pretty warm in there.

We were on our way to Dewees Island and had an hour to spare. The sounds of music playing attracted us to the location. Also, the location has a fantastic view of the water way. The waitstaff was accommodating and the inside had a dressy casual atmosphere. Honestly, I thought I was underdressed with shorts and a hat, but I ended up being about the same as all others. The white table clothes made us a bit uncomfortable. In the end, I enjoyed the atmosphere and my experience. The food was decent, but very very over priced. $18 for shrimp and pasta. $19 for crab cakes. Really, nothing is below $15 on the menu and that is all before drinks, appetizers and deserts. The food prices are what earns the lower stars in my mind.

Already grabbed lunch at Poe's and looking for lazy mid-day drinks. This was the perfect spot. Grab a table upstairs for lovely views. We didn't order eats but the server was friendly. Hear they have nice sunset views and if we had that much time to kill we would have stayed.

We walked out here for lunch before checking into our hotel, so we were hot and hungry. They had a very small lunch/brunch menu, but they didn't disappoint. The She Crab soup was very rich and yummy. We got a broiled seafood platter and shrimp and grits. Some of the seafood was the slightest touch overdone, but the flavors were good. We're not fried foods lovers, but the French fries were very crisp and hard to stop eating. They served the beers cold to the point where it was icy, not what we wanted. That might just be the way they serve beer down here.

We first visited the Morgan Creek Grill for their Mother's Day brunch. While a bit pricey, the food was outstanding as was the service. We had gone under the pretext of checking the venue out for a laid back reception after our beach wedding. Meeting with their awesome event coordinator, seeing the upstairs space, and finding the food to be really good we decided to ditch the current place we had picked out for our reception and go with MCG. I have to say I am so glad we did. What a wonderful venue, with great food, and awesome staff. Their event coordinator was so willing to work with us on everything to make our day the best. From the beginning planning to keeping up with us and all the changes we made, she was fabulous. Our event went off without a hitch and we had so many compliments on the food as well as the service that we could not have been happier. MCG knows how to make you feel welcome, prepares quality food and delivers it all with a great staff. Highly recommend them for any laid back event or daily eating. We have been there three times and not once has the experience been anything short of great. Tough to find a spot that does things right consistently, but MCG does. All stars, all the time!

Good ambiance. It's a waterside bar/restaurant which has an easy-going beachy vibe. We first went on a Thursday night and couldn't get in the more formal main room or the walk-in, first come, first served upstairs. Followed up with reservations on a Friday for 8. So you'll have guessed that it's crowded, definitely as you near the weekends. Pluses-outside area for kids to play while waiting for a table and a bar for adults. Server/Waitress was good. Negatives-30 minute wait for a reservation. food-appetizer was crab dip and calamari. I found the crab dip tasty, but a little salty and the calamari was well cooked but I wasn't a big fan of the dill mayo dip that accompanied it. Among our entrees were scallops and shrimp which was cooked just right and delicious. and the shrimp and grits which I thought was just ok. the kids dishes were fine. We'd go back, but I'm not going way out of my way to get here.

I'm surprised that this spot averages 3.5 stars! The location is lovely. Skylar's service was top notch. He was incredibly accommodating to our party of six - including a birthday gal and bachelorette. Although he worked a long Mother's Day, his patience and sense of humor were a welcome surprise. Of all the spots we visited in the Isle of Palms area, this was perhaps my favorite. ...Bathrooms were a little soggy. I hope it was water.

You just can't beat the view here! Pretty much anywhere you sit, you can see the water. I really enjoyed that. One strange thing...the outside/upstairs menu is different than the inside sit-down dinning area. I ate in the dinning room, which I guess has a more upscale menu. The is the typical menu one would imagine in a water side grill. You can have your seafood prepared a variety of ways. I had linguine with clams and it was excellent. Service was awesome..a local guy waited on our table, and he didn't even blink an eye when someone mentioned "separate checks." I think this place probably has something for everyone, and is not so stuffy that you could easily take the kids.

Well the only negatives I would say was the parking situation was not great due to the harbor traffic and the bugs ate me alive since we were sitting outside (out of their control). The positives strongly outweigh. The outdoor entertainment and sand Pitt were perfect for my two children. The gator bites that I had were tremendous. My wife had oysters which were very good as well. Burger for the kids rounded out a good meal. If you find yourself in the isle of palms its a nice stop.

You know, it's hard to be too critical of this place which we frequent often while vacationing on Isle of Palms. Convenience and marina setting of the location is worth it no matter about anything else. But, having said that the food was quite "meh". We started with local stone crabs which were quite expensive but very average. at Joe's in Miami they serve it with a mustard sauce which makes it special. We were all disappointed. I had the Toby's Local Clams with white wine, garlic and linguini which had NO taste whatsoever. Seriously. when we came home my girlfriend served me Trader Joe's frozen clams prepared the same way and it was 1000 times better. MC might try to make a switcheroo with a trip to TJ's. Girlfriend had the Shrimp and Grits, which were very average and our other guests also had a mediocre experience. But, I'm sure we will be back again next year for the location and the convenience and overall the experience while in a vacation mode. So I while it is repeatable for the experience, set your expectations low for the food and enjoy the venue!

Sounds like season opening. We don t have this, no more of that. Our waitress did her best but struggled a bit to get what you d really want from the menu or beverage list. Food quality was decent but missed any wow factor. The main issue was the temperature inside the upper deck. we were freezing. Definitely an amazing location with a beautiful view on the water, boats and nice houses, but a shortfall when it comes to food itself. I ll come back when it s warm just to enjoy the view.

We walked into the downstairs dining room maybe 2 minutes before 5pm (my phone said 5 but hey, maybe they're clock is slow) and the waifish young hostess was so snotty I wanted to remind her that we were customers and that she makes $4/hr but I digress...Got the calamari which was extremely rubbery with a soggy breading, a burger which was over-cooked and some severely over-seasoned fries. The crab-cake sandwich was gross too. All bread. Finished our beers outside and enjoyed the view but won't be back. Kinda sucked actually.

Morgan Creek Grill has always been a place I've enjoyed going...good food, great views, reasonable prices (especially upstairs during the day hours). Situated on the intercoastal waterway it's not uncommon to see dolphins and boats pass you by as you dine. The upstairs seating area can be opened to enjoy the fresh breeze coming from the sea which is very welcome on the hot days of summer. There is a pecan glazed salmon on the menu in the downstairs dining area (which is only open from 5pm-til) that is to die for.

After reading the poor reviews at the restaurant in the Wild Dunes' Boardwalk Inn (thank you fellow Yelpers), we decided to trek back out to eat. This after all day in downtown Charleston for a short weekend, but it was the right decision. I made reservations for Saturday at 8pm, we got there a little early and found we didn't need them. Great atmosphere, good food. Probably a great view but it was dark. I had the she crab soup (very good), grilled mahi mahi (fantastic) and my date had the hamburger (very good). We are definitely planning to go back and will eat at this place again (hopefully when we can enjoy the views).

Mexican Shrimp app was way over cooked. Shrimp quality was lackluster. Very small shrimp too. Like U30. We're from the Midwest and I can prepare and buy shrimp that beats this any day. Recommend avoiding. Almond crusted grouper wasn't too exciting to the palate. Seemingly overcooked and bland. Overall, not very pleased. The view is great, but when spending over one hundred dollars I expect the food to match. I just didn't feel anything was fresh or local. That part I just don't understand given the location.

I've recently been to this restaurant in the amazing Isle of Palms after a recommendation from a local resident and it was a pleasant surprise. Despite the slightly uptight dining room, we had a great server (Dana). Our app (Calamari) was super-fresh and delicious. For dinner we had Chicken Saltimbocca & the Shrimp Platter. The shrimp was just a B, but the chicken itself was A+. Next time we'll come over for one of the Oyster Grill events that they have outside!

The upstairs has a completely different menu than downstairs. Unfortunately, we didn't know that till we were seated. The service isn't the best. The cheese it awful. If you order nachos or queso dip, that cup that you think has sour cream in it is actually cheese. The flatbreads are the only good thing there. Though, the crust is sometimes burnt. The mac and cheese is small, and as I said earlier, the cheese is awful. I can't tell you about the downstairs, but I'm assuming it's better than upstairs. (Downstairs is supposed to be fancier than upstairs.)

This upscale restaurant looks out over the water. The menu has a number of seafood and pasta dishes. I got the shrimp and grits which are served in a watery gravy that I found to be too salty and garlicky. I've had better shrimp and grits where the grits were creamy and cheesy and paired with a nicely spiced tomato mixture. The Morgan Creek Grill version didn't match up. The calamari also tasted over-salted and fried without much calamari flavor coming through. My partner did like the pasta with chicken and goat cheese. The restaurant was packed and loud. The service was good. In summary, the high cost ($70+ for two entrees, tip, appetizer, and iced teas), ok-but-nothing-great food, and lack of intimacy/noise for such an upscale place leads me to give it only a 3 stars. For the price we will try another place if on Isle of Palms in the future.

We went here on the advice of a local. We both got the fried seafood, which was great. We also got the crab stuffed portobello appetizer which was AMAZING! The thing that bumped this from a 4 star to a 3 star, though, was the ambiance . It felt like a loud sports bar than anything else. We had a hard time holding a conversation because there was a large table behind us watching soccer on the TVs on the other side of us. We went on a Saturday night but didn't have a reservation, so maybe if we had, we would have been seated in the adjoining dining room rather than by the bar and it would have been a little quieter.

First of all, the views are outstanding. The location is excellent. The drinks are delicious and the service is warm and friendly. I ate here with a large wedding party for a rehearsal dinner and the staff was so accommodating, they handled our demands beautifully. That said, the food was not great. It was okay. The appetizers were good, the soup was tasty. However I ordered the filet, med rare and it was pretty much raw. I love a good bloody steak, but this didn't even have that going and the flavor wants great. I left the middle of my steak on the plate ( not wanting to bring it up to the staff because I was stuffed anyway) and saw the staff comment on it with one another saying that it was really rare. Anyway, as other reviews seem to suggest, come here for the views, drinks and eat if you're hungry, but don't expect a spectacular meal. The Charleston area has better to offer.

I have to say that the Morgan Creek Grill Brunch had tremendous potential. It was a gorgeous day, they are located on a beautiful, waterfront spot and we were with good friends. And then, we ate there. Our visit started a bit bumpy. We arrived at noon for brunch and were told that there was a 20 minute wait, not bad. The wait went on to 35 minutes though, and get this... there were 15 open tables. So I of course, have to inquire. I said, "If there are 15 open tables why have we been waiting for 35 minutes." THEN the hostess begins this wacky explanation. "It's our service philosophy." She said. I said, "It's your philosophy to make people wait when they shouldn't have to? It appears that you're understaffed." The servers that were on were running around like mad for a restaurant that wasn't busy. She then tells me that if I'd like further clarification regarding their 'philosophy' that I could talk to a manager. Since she had given me a ton of attitude, I decided to see what the manager would say. I posed the same question and was met with a quick, "I have reservations for all of these tables." "All of them?" I asked. She said "Yes". I told her that I was glad that business was so good and that that she was still understaffed and they were in my opinion on a false wait. Just sayin'. We were finally seated at a great table that had a tremendous water view. We then waited 10 minutes for our server to arrive and when she did she was no picnic. We ordered a few beverages and she scampered off to get them. After quite a wait she returned with half of them. Apparently six drinks on a tray was her tipping point. We waited a bit more for the rest to arrive. It was at this time that I had ZERO confidence in our brunch being anything but just OK. We placed our order and enjoyed the view and the company of our friends. Tick Tock... 25 minutes later our brunch arrived. Although 25 minutes doesn't sound like a long time, the restaurant was barely half full. Those "reservations" for the cast of Ben Hur never materialized. The kid's meals, chicken fingers and a hot dog were enjoyed, but there's really not much you can do to mess up those meals. The Swiss and mushroom omelet with grits was a fan favorite. The cheeseburger that was explained to be cooked medium to medium well was over well done. The Filet Benedict was also tasty, but way past the medium temp which was ordered. Apparently the only temperature that the broil cook can muster is well done. And then there was my sandwich. A very dead-sat-in-the-window-too-long Reuben with cold fries. I know that I often get comments that I should speak of at the time of the issue, but I felt it would really put a damper on the meal. At certain times some things are better left unsaid. Morgan Creek Grill still remained a place with incredible views, so come for that and hope for the best with food.

I recently dined at Morgan Creek with four friends while staying on IOP. We did not have reservations, but were able to get a table immediately. On this visit, the service was good and I was quite pleased with the food. We started with an order of calamari and it was tasty and not over-cooked. For dinner, I ordered the Mahi-Mahi special which was served with Jasmine rice and steamed veggies. The food was properly seasoned and prepared. I thought the prices were very reasonable.

I just got back from a trip to Isle of Palms with my family (we're from the Midwest- Chicago and Cincinnati) and we chose to spend our last night at Morgan Creek Grill. We got off to a bit of a rocky start since the host upstairs had a bit of an attitude and when we were texted that our table was ready, had to awkwardly stand up by the hostess stand for ~15 minutes while our table was being bussed off....but once we were seated, our experience was wonderful. Our server was kind and helpful and the food was delicious! I had she crab soup and the catch of the day (salmon) with mashed potatoes and asparagus--all yum, yum, yum. We were seated on the lower level by the water and it was very calm, serene and lovely. There was a one-man band playing live music a few yards away and he was very talented and provided a nice ambiance. We'd been seated at the outside bar for ~75 mintues before we were seated and enjoyed the music even up close. The bar tender who helped us while we waiting was attentive, speedy and fun. Next time we're in Isle of Palms (which I hope is very soon!), I will make a point to return to Morgan Creek Grill--though we'll probably make a reservation so we don't have to wait quite as long. Just a quick tip to the hostess staff (I was a hostess for 6 years through high school and college, so I know what a stressful job it can be! :)), don't call large groups up and tell them their table is ready until it's actually ready for them to sit down- no one likes to feel like they're in the way.

Hit the upstairs area with out of town family members a few nights ago. Had the Dragon tacos. They were the worst thing I think I've ever eaten. The taco was a corn shell that was mealy and had a nasty taste. However, the gator meat in the taco was grisly to the point you could barely chew it. Plus, there wasn't much meat in it. I think the upstairs area is going downhill quickly. Over the years, I've eaten there a bunch. I'm really disappointed! Probably won't eat there again until things change. From beloved local hang out to tourist trap in a few short years. My husband and I have been coming to Isle of Palms for 25 years and used to love the casual Upper Deck of the Morgan Creek Grill. It was a long-standing tradition to go there the first night we arrived on the island; we'd sit at the bar and have drinks and food, watching the boats in the marina and enjoying a beautiful sunset. Sad to say, with I believe more than one change of ownership over the last few years the place is now nothing more than an overpriced tourist trap. The first disappointment was when they eliminated fresh shrimp cocktail from the menu, which had always been one of our favorite things since the quality of the fresh shrimp off the boats down here is unparalleled. No good explanation, just "we don't have that anymore." Then the menu kept changing, evolving from a casual offering of sandwiches and wraps to an odd assortment of overpriced items ranging from flatbread pizzas to mini-steaks to calamari to alligator --- none of it particularly good. Drinks are so watered down that cocktails taste as though the ice has been melting in them for an hour. Raise the price if you must, but don't insult me by offering diluted drinks. I've modified my expectations over the years to deal with disappointment after disappointment. No shrimp cocktail? OK, I'll try to find a different appetizer I might like (no luck so far). Pricier menu? I'll look for the more affordable items. Watery cocktails? Well, better stick to beer or wine. Finally I realized that I was making all of these concessions to eat at a restaurant that obviously didn't value me as a customer. By the way, this is not a review of the much more expensive restaurant on the main level. We used to really enjoy the food there about fifteen years ago but again, a change in ownership meant that some of our favorite menu items disappeared and quality deteriorated as well. Perhaps it's improved, but it's been so long since I bothered dining there that I don't feel qualified to render an opinion. I'm sure both the main restaurant and Upper Deck will do just fine without our business. The location and views are unbeatable and there are plenty of gullible tourists to keep the place packed, especially in season. However, I suspect the locals will eventually fall by the wayside. Perhaps a big loss of business in the winter months will make the owners rethink some of their recent choices, but somehow I doubt it.

Even as a Charleston native, I don't get to make it out to IOP as I would like. I must say, however, that I really do enjoy going to Morgan Creek when I get the chance! To catch a sunset, you really can't beat it. They really do have an incredible view! I have held a few gatherings there and always love personal dinners! As far as staff, I have always had generally positive experiences. The staff has generally been friendly, relatively knowledgeable and willing to be flexible with requests. The food has been well prepared and fairly timely. . .not that I minded a few extra minutes to have with my friends. As far as leadership, I just met the "new" events director, Marybeth. This lady is dynamic! She seems to really have the know how to make your party successful! I, as well, have had prior planning experience, so I really have had zero issues with either parties or personal meals that I have had there in the past. I look forward to my next event there, as it promises to be better than ever! As for the not-so-positive experiences that have been shared. . . My thoughts on restaurant visits is generally the same, talk to the leaders if the key players aren't playing properly. You are helping the leaders lead effectively when offering solid, specific and detailed feedback. They want to be a success as badly as you want them to!

It looked like a nice restaurant from the outside but the experience was not that great. First, we made a reservation for 8:30. We were told at the front desk when we arrived that they would text us when the table was ready. I was almost 9:00pm and they still hadn't texted us yet so we went back to the front to ask what was going on. The girl said "Oh, I guess we can seat you now." That made it clearly evident that they dropped the ball. There were several tables open but they just forgot to let us know, causing us to wait. Next, the service was a bit less than average. Our waiter wasn't rude, but he just wasn't friendly. He seemed in a hurry to get away from our table and wasn't very attentive. He gave my friend cold coffee and seemed apathetic when my friend informed him. There was no "I'm sorry", but rather a care-free attitude. Next, the food was hit or miss. The sushi nachos were good, but it was almost all lettuce with a few chips spread out. A BIG disappointment. The pulled pork Korean tacos were tasty though. My pork chop was not that good and wasn't really tender. My wife's chicken tasted good but had a weird texture. This might be all ok, but the prices were so high. If I had paid $10-$12 for my pork it would make sense, but not for $19-22 a plate. They seemed like they could not keep up with how crowded it was to maintain a nice dining atmosphere. I'm not sure I'd go back unless it were less crowded. And I'd order something cheaper and easier.

We had a party of 7 and I believe everyone was a bit disappointed with the food. Shrimp and grits was soupy. Crab cake Benedict was fishy and otherwise bland. Service was sub par. No reason to return.

Took forever for someone to come to the table, and the place was only half full. We were on the upstairs porch, probably an hour after the lunch rush. One "Jeffie" came over, he was very unpersonable. We ordered, he brought us some warm beers, then our food FINALLY came out. Meh. Not one person was impressed, even the girls who ordered "the highly recommended and really good" fish tacos. He said he would take a beer off the check - I guess because it was clearly a bachlorette party. and he decided to be nice? - but that didn't happen. Don't say it but then not do it! Pretty views but lots of places have those. Go elsewhere!

I'm surprised Morgan Creek doesn't have a better rating. Morgan Creek has some really good seafood (the best I've had on IOP). I really like the way they blacken their fish. I've also had the shrimp and grits which was a really good dish. The restaurant is at the harbor, offering a great view of the boats and the Intercoastal Waterway. The service can be slow at times, but most of the times I've been there, it hasn't been a problem. I go every time I'm in IOP, and I will continue to do so.

We tried the fried oyster appetizer with the buffalo dipping sauce. Sauce was a little spicy if you really want to taste the oysters. Then we had fried shrimp, almond encrusted flounder and shrimp and grits. All were good but maybe not great. Rissotto with the flounder was tasteless. It was busy on a Friday night, kind of noisy but fun atmosphere.

Probably the best sunsets in all of Charleston, SC. Over 40 tables "with a view" (on the Intracoastal Waterway). Live music. Great people. Always packed during the season. Dead in off season. Season runs from Easter till shortly after Labor Day. The "locals" enjoy it. You can tell by the number of golf carts parked in the sand (near the boat landing).

Reviewing the restaurant inside, not the bar outside First the bar outside and Carrie the bartendress was great. She made a fantastic rum punch that she prides herself for. I would have attached a picture but it looks like yelp does not have that option anymore. For a hot day, this was great (or three depending if you are driving a car, golf cart or walking or boating!) The inside view especially the windows overlooking the marina and the island was beautiful. The table next to us asked to up the air because of the heat and we did as well. The young inexperienced waiter was not helpful and said that the manager would not likely do anything about it. The food was very bland and the chef was not one. They are just making food, and not putting any flavor into the dishes. This is a sure sign of owner decision to save costs and increase profits without thinking of reputation. My wife ordered a cup of coffee at the end of the meal and the chocolate cake with chocolate drizzled over it. What came was cold (not even warm) coffee and the cake. Beautiful looking but it came with a nice big hair ! I took a picture just to show you but yelp does not allow this anymore? This shows no interest from the management to have a quality product. With two strikes, every restaurant with an interest in customer service and reputation would have the manager running out and making a fuss. But this young waiter had to do it himself, which was only a "sorry, ill get you another" The Hair was disgusting as you would be able to see in the picture. You make up your own mind.

Blackened salmon was cooked perfect. Slightly sweet collard greens were so good, I could have eaten a whole garden of them. Grits were smooth and just a tad of the sawmill taste. Not a fan of the green tablecloth but that was minor. Missed 4-5 stars because service was off. Had to ask multiple times for items such as refills, lemons and place settings and for the prices of the entrees, this was an issue.

This is a great choice for people who want a good dinner, but don't want to venture off the island. Food and service are good. The restaurant is popular so it can be loud in the dining room. So not a place for romance, but a great spot for a good dinner with a lively beach crowd. Fun spot, solid food.

After three different summers - it is still hit or miss. The stone crab fingers are not good. A friend liked the salmon a lot. The rice and beans is very good. The hubby and another friend really liked their beef "special" that's not on the main menu. They have an appetizer with beef bites - it's pretty good. Their libations are also hit or miss. If you order off their specialty menu, they're typically okay. Order anything else and it might not be what you expect/want.

Cool spot on the inner bay with plenty of bar space, multiple levels, and a huge restaurant. I only wish there was more of a people-watching scene. Came here on a weekday for a solo meal at the bar downstairs, inside. Friendly bartender, great service, two TV's at each end. There were only two others there at the bar, both locals. It seemed like it was mostly locals anyway. There are two bars downstairs...indoor and outdoor, and another upstairs that is covered with surrounding bay views of the water and boats...a real nice, mellow spot. This place is a great drinking spot for the mellow crowd. Be warned though...cops on IOP are very bored with their lives and will pull you over without hesitation. Do not speed while on the island. If you are drinking...watch it. It is not worth rewening a great happy hour buzz with bracelets that clamp in front of your back. The menu is heavy seafood with reasonable prices. There are a few dishes such as a pasta and a chicken. I ordered a 10 oz. NY strip special, and it was great. The mushroom sauce covering it was delicious. Blue cheese mashed and spinach sides were all fresh and complimented it well.

I wish I had something nice to say about the food but I don't. The waiter forgot our appetizer, the She crab soup was congealed and chunky and grease was rising to the top of the soup. The spinach salad was small for $8 and the dressing was watery and tasteless. Though the food came out quickly, the waiter never came back to check on us. Thank goodness for the waitress who cleared our table noticed the disgusting condition of the soup and immediately offered to take the soup off our bill without us asking. Even with the two soups taken off we paid $60 and that was just for two meals, the inedible salads and a beer and wine. Except for the lovely view, I found nothing redeeming about the place.

Three and a half stars please! We had dinner on a weeknight, no rezzies, party of 8, and were seated in the bar area, which was fun for us on a night when basketball was on TV. Could have done without the gator tacos one of us ordered for the table -- but on the other hand, if out on the deck having drinks and appetizers, they might be fun. Our happiest diners ordered one of the three fresh fish specials, which can be done up in any of three preparations. Look, there is a lot of amazing food in the Charleston area and Morgan Creek does not try to compete, just good fresh seafood specialties in a nice, scenic and friendly setting for multi-generational parties. (TIP -- Dining room looked a little more quiet and romantic.) Oddly, one brother ordered shortrib ravioli in a mushroom sauce and it was to die for.

I wouldn't go back here with all the other options available. Our dinner party of 8 was seated 30 minutes after we arrived. We had requested a view, when we were seated there were three tables with a view, and they gave us an interior table. I complained to the manager, and he was useless. Luckily, our waitress was super nice and almost made up for his lack of caring. My opinion about the food, decor, service is that you could go to Bennigan's or Red Lobster and have a similar or better experience for 1/3 of the price. Nothing wowwed us. The crab dip was meh, but the marinara sauce that came with the fried calamari wasn't bad. My husband did think the grouper catch of the day was pretty good though. My fried pecan flounder over grits was TERRIBLE; to the point where I almost just didn't eat it, but felt rude. The only thing that was not terrible and almost worth while were the desserts. The pecan pie was good, the Mudd Pluff was heavy but good, and i think we had a special bread pudding that was the standout. regardless, never again.

Morgan Creek is a short bike ride or walk from the residences on the Isle of Palms. Seating is super air conditioned on the main floor. The enclosed upper deck is a little too warm but the upper open deck is just right with seating under an umbrella with the sea breeze. We had lots of ice tea with refills always at our table before we were done finishing our glass. Great fish that can be ordered however you would like it cooked. Nice salad portions and an assortment of dressings for a cool lunch while the boats drifted in an out of the harbor. A relaxing break mid day or in the evening makes this a perfect dining experience anytime.

The location and the views are phenomenal, especially from the upper deck. The food is better than average and the service has always been good. They just started serving breakfast and it was very, very good! My house is on 42nd Ave. so it beats driving down to the Sea Biscuit (cash only) for a nice breakfast/brunch. Their Bloody Mary Bar for the Sunday Brunch is a nice touch, pick your Vodka brand then go load it up with tons of fixins from olives, pepperonis, cheeses, to celery stalks.

Having not returned to Morgan Creek Grill for a year, we decided to give it another try. We were immediately reminded why we had been absent for a year and won't return again. Calmari was cooked to rubber, asian spring rolls had no flavor, shrimp basket was heavy on fries, light on shrimp. These were the appetizer highlights, all elegantly served in red plastic baskets, plastic ramekins and cocktails served in plastic cups. Morgan Creek survives on IOP summer tourism and the attitude of the staff appears to be - "we won't see them again, who cares". I'm not sure why the owners missed the chapter " local traffic will sustain the restaurant for the balance of the year". So if over-priced, indifferently prepared meals are what you're after "meet me at the Creek".

As the host was taking us to our table, I quickly decided which seat I was going to occupy ... the one by the window. The view was amazing. We got to see several barges go by (excitement for the kids) and watched the sunlight fade away to darkness. The food was delicious. W (my 10 year nephew) had a blast choosing his meal ... this was the first trip that he has been choosing from the main menu instead of the kid's menu. He had a hard time, because he takes after his foodie father, everything sounded good to him. He ended up choosing a pasta dish that made his eyes light up. I don't think there was anything left on his plate at the end of the meal.

Considering all of the options in the Isle of Palms I would look elsewhere. The wait staff is way over tabled and they are so busy you can barely get refills or new drink orders. I thought that the prices were quite high considering the quality of the food. Almost all of our group got seafood and as a whole it was way over cooked. The soups were mediocre and over salted and made me think they are using pre-made bases for them.

Hopped in to the casual upstairs section for happy hour while we were docked for emergency repair on the boat's diesel engine. Half-price appetizers from 4-7 pm, daily. Got the "crab fingers" (deep fried crab claw bits - it's the "thumb" part of the crab claw, with a bit of meat attached to it, breaded) and the portabella fries. Both of them have the same heavy spiced breading. Crab fingers are supposed to come with remoulade, the portabella fries with blue cheese dressing. As I recall, both of them came with remoulade on the first round, which I liked better than their blue cheese. It was nice to find something other than the typical bar menu of jalapeno poppers and mozarella sticks. I wouldn't go out of my way for this (i.e. don't make a special trip to Isle of Palms to seek this out), but we liked it well enough to order a second round of each. They're very kid-friendly, as evidenced by the many kids present each night. They do special for-kids mocktails, and have crayons and a picture to color in, as well as plenty of booster seats and high chairs. Didn't stay for dinner; didn't feel like paying their prices. (The marina's pricey for what you get - $2/foot, showers and *a sauna* but no laundry, and $7/day (!!!) for electricity hookup. After paying that, we weren't in the mood for dinner-with-a-view costs.) Nice view of the river and the docks.

My third brunch visit proves I officially don't like this place. My waffle was sad looking and cold, as was my bacon. My wife's crab cake sandwich was again fishy, something she thought might've been a fluke when she first ordered it in December. Nova, however, did like the fried shrimp po' boy on our second visit in May, but I left disappointed then as well. My entree that visit was so memorable, I can't even recall it. It was a sandwich, I think. As others have mentioned, the view is great, but the accolades end there. Go for a drink, but not to eat.

It was wonderful from the moment we stepped inside the front door. The hostess picked up on our desire to sit outside on the upper deck for the view but we hesitated because we also wanted the extensive inside menu. To compromise she suggested a window table inside in order to enjoy the sunset view over Morgans Creek. It was tucked away next to the window with a great view; secluded and very romantic. Our server (Beth) was outstanding, just precious. I had the tilapia filet topped with crab and goat cheese over wilted spinach and my husband had grilled mahi mahi "low country" with grits and collards. Both were fabulous. We are going back today for lunch on the upper deck. Bottom line - if you are in Isle of Palms, I highly recommend you visit Morgans Creek Grill at the IOP Marina!

To be honest, I was shocked that the food here was as poorly executed as it was. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt and say they were just busy, but at an average price of $20 per dinner entree, I don't know that I can afford to give them a second chance. The two stars are for the view, the service, and the fact that the food was COOKED relatively well. It was so under-seasoned that it almost tasted like water. All of the textures were there (mostly), but I was left feeling utterly unsatisfied. My husband and I shared the Dragon Tacos (with gator meat) as an app: good flavors here, but the gator meat reminded me of that really rubbery pork you sometimes end up with at a bad Chinese take-out joint. Maybe I just don't know gator meat... but if that's what it was supposed to be like, they should take it off the menu. You only get so many points for an adventurous protein. For dinner, I had the crab cakes which came with grits and sauteed veggies. My crab cakes had great texture but very little seasoning. Like... not even salt. Same with the grits. The veg also lacked any seasoning whatsoever and were also barely cooked through. One of my carrots was almost raw. Which is fine, but not what was supposed to appear on my plate! My husband's leg of duck looked like a joke. Anemic duck leg, a mound of sweet potato mash, and something else in the same color family. He had the same complaint: pretty good cook on everything, but NO SEASONING. All in all, I came away from the meal feeling very full, but when I'm paying a higher price, I expect to feel like the meal was worth the calories. Sadly, this meal was not. Go for the view and some drinks. The bang for the buck on food just isn't there for me. Sorry, guys.

We ate at Morgan Creek Grill on our first night in Isle of Palms and, overall, had a good experience. It wasn't great, but I'd give it another chance if we're ever back in the area. From our table we had a nice view of the water, and our waiter was nice and patient with our indecisive party of nine. The food was just so-so, in my opinion. I had the fried shrimp and scallops, and while I can't quite pinpoint what was wrong with them, I can definitely say that I've had better. They were sort of bland tasting.

Bottom line, avoid it, there are plenty of other places on Isle of Palms that serve great food that will fill you up at a better price. I'm still hungry... Ok, I should start by saying I'm not a seafood person, so maybe I just don't get places like this. My wife loves seafood and she really liked it, that's why it gets a 3 instead of a 2. Location - this place is listed as having outdoor seating... um, I don't think so. It's all one big crowded room. The view is ok, but it faces the waterway, not the ocean. We called ahead, made a reservation, and specifically asked for a table with a view and that request was acknowledged. When we got there we still had to wait 20 minutes past our reservation time and were seated right in the middle of the dining room. We could see outside, but only over other people's heads. Service - The wait staff was great, but clearly stretched too thin so service was slow. The host staff, well given my above experience I'm very unimpressed. Food - The food tasted great. My wife got the fresh tuna, and she loved it. I got the Ravioli, and it tasted excellent. However, the portions were way too small. My wife is 100 lbs and she ate all of her meal. It was just the right portion for her. However since I am not 100 lbs you can probably imagine that I polished off my Ravioli as if it were an appetizer. This wouldn't have been a big deal except that that given the price I would have expected to have a bunch leftover. Price - This is the real problem with this place. It is listed as $$, it really should be $$$. Yes the entrees are almost all under $30, but there is no way you are spending under $30 per person and getting out of here full.

We ate at the upper deck part of the restaurant. It's first come, first serve - no reservations. We came on a Friday night and heard some live music and watched the boats coming in. Many locals float in an hang out here upstairs. We had gator bites (some a little fatty, but the sauce was great) and the Texan burger. The burger was huge (big enough for us to split) and delicious. The views from upstairs are amazing. It's a great atmosphere for hanging out and having a few drinks.

Great view, just the kind of place for a sunny afternoon. Food is just ok, not great. We tried it for Sunday Brunch. Menu is too heavily focused on variations of eggs benedict, in fact I'd suggest those are really the only "brunch" options. I had a flounder po-boy. It was ok, pretty typical fried fish and french fries. I wouldn't make it a regular spot but since its on the marina and has an nice view and the food is marginally better than anything on Shem Creek, I'd give it a slight recommendation.

(we see dolphins there almost nightly).. anyway its a mainstay for the island and we even met the mayor while we were there.. You won't be wowed but it will be good for sure..

It's a good thing that they have a great view. There were seven of us eating lunch at MCG on Saturday and none of us liked any of the food. The fried shrimp, fish & oysters were soggy and tasteless. Oh, and the check was just over $100 for the 7 of us at lunch with NO alcohol. So, they won't get any more of our hard earned money. Surly waitresses to boot. Never experienced such slackness in a marina type environment.

I like a lot of things about this place. First off, the food was excellent. It's expensive but not exorbitant, I think that Surf & Turf was the most expensive thing on the menu at $25. Speaking of which, the Surf & Turf was awesome. I'm not a lobster aficionado but it was very tasty; the petite fillet with shallot demi glace was tender and delicious. The she-crab soup was good too; it had an interesting citrus kick. What else is there to like? Well, it's on the Intracoastal and it has that classic fancy-casual feel that you get at nicer beach restaurants. The bar has indoor and outdoor service with windows and fans for the exterior. Another thing that I was really impressed with was their wine service. The have good sized Stolzle glasses and gave 6 to 7 oz. pours. The selection was pretty good too with three to four by-the-glass choices from the more common varietals plus a couple of less standard options. Wines by the glass were mostly $7 to $10 and bottles started at $30.

We had a calamari appetizer that tasted as if Mrs. Paul had a hand in it's preparation. The top deck has some life to it however, and we may try it for lunch but only up top.

I'm torn between 2 and 3 stars, so call it 2 1/2. This place seems to get a lot of positive press (the guy we rented our condo from, as well as a friend who is familiar with IOP both recommended MCG as a "favorite spot"). Aside from the atmosphere, I don't see what is so redeeming about this place. All of the food was simply AVERAGE. Service was inexperienced. We never received any bread at the table (maybe they don't "do" bread but I generally expect it at a seafood-type restaurant). I had the crab cakes for my entree...two cakes that were either a) not made from jumbo lump (I suspect) or b) made with jumbo lump by someome idiotic enough to pulverize it into a paste. The cakes tasted good but the texture wasn't quite right. I did like the herb aioli that came on top of the cakes, but would have preferred it on the side instead. I had the choice of one side, plus veggie of the day. I went with grits and they were simply awful. Your child's school cafeteria probably serves better grits than this. No flavor, rubbery texture. The veg of the day was string beans and baby carrots. I loathe when restaurants use baby carrots as a cooked side item. It just seems like "Oh! We have these carrots that we use as a side dish on the kids menu, let's saute them up with a little butter and call it the veg of the day!". I can do that at home, thanks. My husband had the fried seafood platter - shrimp and scallops. He enjoyed both, the fries on the side were decent, cole slaw was terrible. Overall, we left feeling really disappointed because 1) recommendations were so good and there's no reason for it and 2) we don't get seafood often in Illinois and really hoped to be "wowed" a bit more...this did not cut it. I would choose the Boathouse over this any day. We would definitely not go back.

Most of the reviews here are for dinner and brunch, so I thought I would add my two cents on the lunch menu. Lunch is served exclusively on the Upper Deck, an open air dining and bar area with covered and uncovered portions. The upper deck is far more causal than dinner is described: servers wear t-shirts and shorts, and it was a very casual atmosphere. Great view overlooking the marina, with the marshes surrounding. It got a bit warm on this particular day, but it was an exceptionally hot day and the restaruant did all they could with over a dozen ceiling and wall fans turned on full. Service was fast and friendly, and the menu offered soup, appetizers, salads, and a variety of beef, fish, and chicken sandwiches. All platters offer a choice of sides like fries, cole slaw, and pasta salad averaging $8-10 per platter. Special of the day was a summer spinach salad with strawberries and goat cheese. I had blackened fish on a pita with pasta salad, which was served with in minutes of my order. The sandwich was very good, and the pasta salad was fresh and cool. I was a little disappointed that it was basically macaroni salad, as I was hoping for something a little more - but it was well prepared so no complaint. My wife had a hamburger with fries and quite enjoyed it.
