I ordered 2 appetizers to go-the tuna and rockefeller. I was surprised to hear she told me 30 mins or so. I asked, 'are you busy right now?' Her reply was 'yes but I think we can do it.' Really? You think you can do it? I wonder if the owner knows the bartender only thinks they can get the food out the door. I should have cancelled the order then but I was craving some fresh seafood. Basically, it sucked. The tuna was fishy and bad. The oysters so so. I had been to this place another time and the bartender was terrible, and slow and the food was not very good. So, here is my overall review-a 2....which I find generous since I had to throw out my tuna appetizer.

GBOH! What's not to love?! Beautiful downtown Greer! Blackened salmon spinach salad! Raw Oysters! Steamed Oysters! Oysters Rockefeller! Ahi Tuna Appetizer! Coldest beer in town! All my favs! Laid back, casual atmosphere! Friendly staff! Great service!! Occasional live music! And to top it off, the owner greets you at the door with a smile and treats you like an old friend the minute you walk in! I love GBOH and now frequent often!

The service wasn't great.. Waters were empty most times and no one checked on us after we received our food. We're done now and waiting for someone to remember we're here. Food was delicious though. Everything had a unique flavor that set apart from most restaurants.

Oysters! Cold Beer! Great People! AHI Tuna! - How can you go wrong! Enjoyed the atmosphere and the food! The steamed oysters were amazing as was the tuna. We also had the Oyster Rockefeller's and they were amazing. We will be back soon!!

In short, amazing service and great food We recently moved near downtown Greer and were completely blown away by this small seafood restaurant and bar. The decor and atmosphere are unique yet quaint; the sideways rotating fans are a really nice touch to this narrow yet deep restaraunt. The wine selection is on par with similar restaraunts in the area, but I was really surprised at the beers available (I'll admit, mostly because they had one of my all time favorites: Abita Purple Haze) in both draft and bottle. I also spied a bottle of Glenlivet 18. Our server, Leah K, was very friendly and helpful. Her suggestions were on point and her attitude was great (especially to be so close to closing time)! As a fellow server, I really appreciate this in my experience and we'll probably ask for her next time. We had the Kani Roll to start (sushi here is delicious), but the main event we're the scallops and risotto. Honestly, this is a favorite dish of ours now (from any restaurant). We finished with a house made key lime tartlett that cannot be described sufficiently as incredibly delicious. tl;dr: Tried a new seafood place, fell in love.

The crab cake sandwich was really good. The fries and seafood plate was terrible. I probably won't be back just cause it wasn't that good.

We absolutely LOVE this place solely based on their sushi. It is always fresh and delicious! This is our go-to Friday night dinner...take-out sushi. I promise you won't be disappointed! Their other food is just as yummy, especially the oysters!

Solid food and good drafts. My husband and I had four different ways to eat shrimp in the same sitting: sushi, peel and eat, fried, and sauteed. A great staple for downtown greenville.

The grilled grouper sandwich was fantastic! The fries were seasoned great, and had a wonderful tasty texture to them. Place was extremely busy for a Friday night. Would highly recommend this place for a night out on the town. The California Spring Rolls were made fresh and tasty.

Very friendly staff, fun atmosphere at the bar, great date night setting up front or family dining in the back. Excellent crab cakes. We go there monthly.

Stopped in for dinner with my parents while in SC for the holidays. I live in Chicago so I admit I am very spoiled when it comes to dining options, but I enjoyed our meal here and for the area I think it deserves 4 stars. The baked otsters in the garlic and butter sauce were insanely good and the crab cake sandwich hit the spot. My parents each had a sushi roll that looked decent, nothing award winning but it was a Monday during Christmas week! They were also out of ginger for the sushi which is a bummer, but not a deal breaker for me. All in all very pleasant.

Decent spot. We have never had a horrible meal here. We miss the sushi spot in the back as that was a nice twist to have that option. The service has been spotty on our visits but would go back. Oysters...hmmm!

I love Great Bay, and would recommend it to everyone. The ambiance is a chill vibe with so many friendly faces working to make your dining experience wonderful! Yes it is dubbed an "oyster house", and yes the oysters are great, but they also offer an awesome menu in additon to these delicious shelled treats. If you simply want a Burger or French dip with a beer...perfect place! If you want a good plate of nachos or some sausage dip with a cocktail...perfect place! You should have the shrimp and grits or the crawfish étouffée(its served on a fried grit cake...yum!) if you want to be treated to a delicious meal. So many more dishes to discover on this menu, so I highly recommend it.

A classy atmosphere, with some good variety on the menu. Anything from an amazing burger, to Oysters Rockefeller (my favorite), to Shrimp & Grits, to Sushi Rolls (the Hawaiian Roll is wonderful). If you're just grabbing drinks, or staying for dinner, definitely stop in downtown Greer's oyster bar.

So I'm not sure why I've never reviewed the GBOH before...possibly because I don't eat oysters, and it is an "oyster house". But that's no excuse. GBOH is a great place! Part oyster bar, part restaurant, and now apparently (though I haven't walked through the curtains to check it out) part sushi bar. If you sit in the bar part, your table will have a big bucket hanging off the end, to catch the remnants of your oyster feast. They serve them raw on the half shell, and whole steamed. The steamed ones are the most fun to watch others eat, because you have to shuck them yourself...towel and shucking knife provided. This is especially fun after your friends have had a few beers, and have to start prying open oyster shells. Personally, I'd be the one at the table who would end up with a shucking knife through my hand, so luckily I avoid the process altogether. They also have a good collection of appetizers, sandwiches and entrees, for those of you not up to oysters. I've had the shrimp and grits and the catfish, both of which are tasty. It gets pretty crazy on weekend evenings, so you may have to wait for a bit...but all around a fun place to hang out with friends, and definitely worth the drive from Greenville to Greer once in a while.

The food here is pretty solid and includes some standard southern dishes and variations. I like the BLFGT (bacon lettuce fried green tomato) sandwich the best, but the other food is ok. They have a decent selection of craft beer too. This place won't knock your socks off, but it is a solid restaurant. The only thing that could help make it better, would be to have better service. In the 8 times I've been in at night the waitresses seemed to care less that new people were coming in, and took 15-20 minutes to come wait on us. If they improve it, I would consider upping the rating to a four. PS. there is a sushi restaurant located within this one.....

I have to say the sushi they make is some of the best in the area. It is fresh, well made and delicious. The problem, however, is their service and policies surrounding their "half price" rolls on Tuesdays. It's not really half price if you get a carry out order and then they add a mandatory 18% gratuity to the bill. I can understand it for dine-in patrons but for carry out it really amounts to a bait and switch. Not good business on the restaurant's part at all. It really amounts to 32% off sushi when you carry out. If you truly want half price sushi, dine in or carry out, you should go to Red Bowl in either Greenville or Spartanburg. They have it half price without the mandatory gratuity during happy hour all week in Greenville and all day Sunday through Wednesday in Spartanburg. The sushi at Red Bowl is just as fresh and delicious with better service and no forced gratuity. Hopefully the owners of Great Bay will get a clue that they should advertise it as 30% off sushi and then everyone wins.

Yep, I like this place. The oysters are always fresh and the beer is always cold...perfect! It's a good place to meet up with friends and hang out. GBOH has a great atmosphere. It reminds me of a nice, (but more upscale) New Orleans oyster bar. I haven't tried the full (rather limited) menu, by any means, but everything I've had has been good. I normally get the shrimp and grits with a half-peck of steamed oysters. I also like the grouper sandwich. All-in-all: recommended for a casual night out with oyster/beer loving friends.
