Atmosphere: Cool. Ok, when did Greer get a downtown restaurant scene? Where have I been? (Don't answer that...) Tucked away right off of Main St. is Cafe Rivera. Just a storefront with icicle lights on the canopy. Inside is a intimate, nice, setting easily on par with any restaurant in downtown Greenville. Big screen T.V. at the bar and plenty of great tables in the back just begging for a great date conversation. Service: Good but not what I was expecting. When entering a Brazilian/Cuban/S. American themed restaurant, a sweet southern drawl is the last thing I expected. The squad of waitresses and bartenders were on point, though. Never missing a cue to make a suggestion or offer another beer. I won't ask how they ended up doing Brazilian/Cuban food but I'm glad they did. Food: Muy Bien! We started out the an appetizer of the chips and salsa w/ queso and I, being the drunk that I am, asked for a beer list. It didn't start out well. The beer list was limited, however, I managed to find Rolling Rock ( a personal fav.). The Chips....cold. salsa, not bad but run of the mill for what you can find elsewhere. queso, bland. Undaunted, we ordered our main courses. The house special, Mayan roasted pork & Goat cheese stuffed chicken. The food arrived with a choir of angels... Fried plantains, the most tender, fall-apart, pork I have ever stuck a fork into. The savory cheese on the chicken with just the perfect crispness... Rice the equivalent of pure uncut cocaine. (joking but it was really freakin' good!) Bottom Line: A small pearl of Brazilian/Cuban/S. American goodness tucked away in Greer. Proving that Downtown Greenville does not have a monopoly on good chow.

Stopped for lunch today. My wife had their Cuban Pork and said it was really great. I had their chicken salad sandwich, which was absolutely terrific. We go there from time to time and we always have a great meal. Wonderful value too.

It's a warm, friendly vibe courtesy of owners Lucinda and Bruce. Brick walls, a huge photo collage of Bruce's dad and tropicalia set the mood. The Cuban food, if not 100% authentic, is flavorful and nicely portioned--not too much and not too little. We had the portobello salad, empanadas and Cuban sandwich with hand-cut fries. The fries were actually hand-cut, with a good dose of salt and freshly cracked black pepper, and perfect with the chunky homemade ketchup. The empanadas were good too, if a little heavy on the cumin. The Cuban was moist and tasty, if not QUITE the perfect melding of flavors that you'd get in Havana or Miami. I think it's the marinade. Overall, you're not going to think your abuela's in the kitchen, but it's yummy food and a nice atmosphere. Plus it's right across from a jumping bar. Next time you pass through the little town of Greer, definitely make a stop.

Rivera's has some of the best food around. I enjoy taking clients here for lunch, and the menu never disappoints. My favorite is the Cuban Roast Pork over Black Beans & Rice w/Sweet Plantains on the side. You can't go wrong with the Swiss Style Swiss Style Chicken Enchiladas or the Cuban Sandwich w/hand cut fries. Rivera's is also a great place to stop by for a glass of wine & desert after eating at another downtown Greer restaurant. They have free wifi as well, which is helpful if you're doing a business lunch, or just want to update your blog.

I had a great lunch. Possibly the best Cuban Sandwich I have ever had. I will make the drive for that again.

Food was wonderful as usual. The specials are exactly that: special. Wife had some fish that was awesome. I had the chicken and goat cheese (again) and it was awesome. The atmosphere is great as well. If you have room, try any of the dessert!

First meal was lunch today. I had the signature cuban sandwich, it was OK, but doesn't measure up to real Cuban cubans. Service was fast and pleasant, no complaints there. A little pricey for lunch.

One of the best restaurants in the upstate. Well worth wandering into Greer. The flavors are unique and all the ingredients are fresh. They even make there own ketchup! I you like steak...go for the ribeye.

Great food. Great deserts. Ice cold beer. Just a fun and great place to eat

My wife and I have eaten lunch and dinner. Great home cooked dishes that are well prepared and presented. Comfortable inside, but we usually have a beer outside before heading in. Wine list is fairly priced and good selection. Met the owner Bruce, he loves his profession

Had lunch today fantastic food, lovely environment with a beautiful building. Skirt steak was fantastic, beautiful plate presentation along with excellent food pairings all for a reasonable price. Will definitely return! :)

Great sweet plantains served with a light aioli and chimichurri base. Yucatan shrimp cooked well with a nice crunch and delicate flavor. Black beans could have used white onions or a side of hot sauce but still very good overall. Excellent service and decor. Perfect for an intimate dinner or small group.

I would love to give this place five TURDS. Our waitress was extremely rude, she rushed us to order, slammed down our plates and got personally offended when my aunt sent a drink back. When we asked for a manager we were sent a staff member who only after hearing our story, revealed she wasn't the real manager. It was only after THAT wasted conversation did we actually get sent the owner of the place. The owner had ZERO accountability for her rude staff. Do yourselves a favor: when you find yourself in front of this place, don't walk..RUN across the street for a meal!

Had lunch yesterday with a friend and it was very enjoyable! The owners were there and made sure to greet every table--I love that kind of service. Had the chicken salad sandwich and couldn't have been happier. Will definitely be back.

Cute and quaint. Food is really good. Service is really good (depending on who is waiting) and I really like the atmosphere. The wine list is good too!

After leaving the strip club across the street we came here and couldn't have been happier. The filet and skirt steak were tender and flavorful. The staff were friendly and attentive. I would certainly come back here.

Great food and nice clean atmosphere. The food had great flavor, and they even spice up their ketchup. A great addition to all of the great food in downtown Greer.

Service was great. Food was great. Absolutely nothing to suggestion for improvement.

We were there for a birthday dinner. All of us enjoyed our meals. Also, it's a great part of town for an after dinner stroll.

I enjoyed but it is not very memorable. Not a great value, in my opinion. I will return for a business lunch if the other parties want to go, but that is about it. Waitress was nice. Atmosphere is meh. Worth a try once just to see if it is right for you. Other reviewers seem to think more of it than I do so maybe it is just not my thing. For my $, I will find some place that is more interesting and to my taste.
