Great place! Really nice servers, good price and portions. Had the breakfast special about 2pm and it was fantastic. I'll keep coming back.

Meh!!!! Nothing worth flipping my skirt over. Came here because I've lived in Greenville practically all my life and was told that I was missing out by never dining here. Ordered the cubed steak biscuit with homestyle fries. Steak was bland. Also sampled the sweet potato pancake. It was yummy, but seemed reminiscent of a fall breakfast rather than a summer dish.

If you want a straight-forward Southern-style country breakfast, this is a great place to go. The food is reliably well-done every time. Our waitress was phenomenal. Attentive and funny. I never ran out of coffee. This place is not fancy in the least, but it IS a memorable experience. Prices are reasonable and the portions are generous.

It's an institution in Greenville. The food is good ol' Southern fare. And, if you are in a rush, there's a little drive up window. It's pricier than fast food or some other quick service options, but the service is good.

Who rates this four stars? Must you have a love affair with grits to enjoy this at all? Everything on the plate was smothered in grits. Scrambled eggs? Smothered. Toast? Smothered. Sausage? Smothered. Grits? Yeah, those were smothered in grits, too. Lousy service, lousy food. Not again.

Reminds me of the food my parents and grandparents used to make. Down home Southern cooking. Food is awesome but the feelings and smells bring back incredible memories of my childhood. I go there every time I'm in Greenville SC.

Tommy's is definitely the kind of place to go when you're wanting a diner breakfast or just good ol' Southern food. It's my go-to place for breakfast and down home cooking for lunch. The only letdown about this place is that they are not open for dinner. I have been for both breakfast and lunch, and they do both well. The first time I came, I found this place a little confusing. They have menus on the tables, but a cafeteria-style line. I flagged down a waitress, who explained that you order breakfast at the tables, but you pick your lunch items up through the line. It all made sense then. Their breakfast menu, which has VERY reasonable prices, is pretty standard, with various egg dishes, omelets, and pancakes. Where they stand out the most with this is their breakfast meat. They have two different type of hams, sausage (which they make in-house and is FABULOUS), bacon, steak, and chicken. Their grits are pretty standard but are well-made (add some butter, salt, and pepper to make them really delicious). Their biscuits here are also delicious - buttery, warm, and fresh. Even their coffee is better than most of the other diners, as it is obviously not the cheapest coffee available. As for lunch, it is also great. Their main dishes are around $4, which pretty good portions, and their sides are $1.50. They have some dishes they serve every day, and some that are on a rotation, I believe. Their fried fish is some of the best fish in town, and they make some solid fried chicken as well. As for side dishes, they also have hands-down the best collard greens I have ever eaten. Their butter beans are also crazy delicious, and their mac-and-cheese is quite cheesy and tasty. Even as I write this, I am craving this food. As for service, it's generally pretty good. You seat yourself for both breakfast or lunch (when they are busy on the weekends, the wait staff is pretty good about helping to find open tables). They have a lot of tables to sit at, especially bigger tables for the weekend. At breakfast you get more service, as the wait staff brings everything to you, but the lunch is more about refilling drinks and clearing the tables. The staff is generally very friendly and helpful too. The best part of this place is that you can get great food for VERY cheap. I have gotten a LOT of food here for less than $10 per person. As you can see, Tommy's has a special and delicious place is my heart.

Tommy's is an institution! I used to come here for breakfast once a week when I was in high school with friends. If you like simple southern food without a flair, this is the place to be. And let me tell you about the grilled cheese. Big pieces of buttery texas toast with ooey gooey American cheese.... seriously. It's all you need to realize that the world is a good place after all. I've always had great service and delicious (albeit greasy) food. Just what you want from a southern gem.

Best breakfast ever!! Bar none. I love their country ham, egg and cheese biscuits! The gravy and biscuits are pretty darn good too.

Great southern hospitality. Had their BLT with home fries and was very good home cooking.
