Dannnng Sabroso. You be so sexy with your Mexican food. I mean, I don't usually swing that way. If I do, then I'm just dropping in for some fast taco action, some free chips and salsa on the side, you know what I'm sayin'. But, girl, you special. You made some tamales, Sabroso, and them things were DOPE. I was all like, "This masa is the bizniss!" You got like five different hot sauces to put on that. The beans and rice wasn't messin' around either. Flavor, and just enough fat to make it PHAT. My wife -- yeah, she was there, she's into this stuff too -- she had one of those mains, and we don't normally mainline it. We're all about the back page of the menu if you hear what I'm sayin'. Was it $12 worth of food? No. More like $20. Hit that. Sabroso, Mexican grilles in this town be all in my, um, grill. Everywhere I look, there's another one. But they all dumb, all tasting the same with their roja sauce all like ketchup, their verde being all like warm lime jello. You run a fresh shop, Sabroso. Ima see you around!

Good food and good service. My drink never went empty. My husband said his margarita was "ok". Chips and salsa are good, and the food tasted pretty authentic. I would come back here again.

Yuck. If you are looking for overcooked meat smothered in cheese or bland salsa or some milk, butter, and flour called cheese dip, this could just be your place. If you have any sense of taste for Mexican food, you'd be better off at Taco Bell than here.

Great food, good beer! Enjoyed the fajita Chimichanga, was great with Steak. Only down side the smoky bar to the side of restaurant. You have to venture through the smoke to go to the restrooms.

Sabroso Mexican Grille was unknown to us until about a year ago. We go there regularly now. We first went there b/c of either a Living Social or Groupon offer. The service is almost always excellent. The food is always very, very fresh and tasty. The margaritas are very good and consistent. My favorite dish is the enchiladas with Sabroso Chicken. It is stewed, very tender and tasty. My wife has tried several dishes but her favorite is the mesquite chicken quesadilla but she is also very fond of the veggie quesadillas.

My wife and I went there yesterday for an early dinner and really liked it quite a bit. The chips and salsa were there minutes after we sat down and the salsa was fresh and quite good. We started with the queso fundido which is a normally a blend of soft cheese and chorizo sausage, but this was more of a skillet appetizer. It was quite good, but not really the dip from the dip section we had in mind. My wife got the tequila lime chicken which was a great sized portion with tons of phenomenal flavor. We both tried it and came away quite impressed. I had the Tacos Al Carbon which the server offered to do one of each (Pork, Steak & Chicken) without me having to ask. What a delight as they were delicious. Service was great. He answered questions, made honest recommendations and always was there when we needed them. Very much looking forward to going back.

Great salsa - HUGE chicken chimichanga - always ask for a fried egg on your retried beans - YUMMO !!!! Wasn't impressed with their margaritas - way too much sour mix. Great place - great service !!!

Having lived in California for 30+ years we know good Mexican food, and this food is REALLY good! We went in for lunch on a weekday and the place was pretty full. The chips were served warm with very good salsa, yummy yummy. I ordered the crispy beef taco, rice, and beans and my husband ordered the chicken fajitas. They came piping hot and perfectly seasoned, with so much food we took a box of leftovers home for breakfast tomorrow! The chicken was tender and served with grilled onions, bell peppers, and a plate of hot corn tortillas, as well a bowl filled with lettuce, cheese and sour cream. Everything we ate was excellent and we will be going back on a regular basis! Service was fast and steady. We highly recommend this restaurant for excellent Mexican food!

So far this is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the Greenville area. The guacamole is super good (perhaps too plain for some). And the chimichangas are my meal of choice here. My lunch friends rave about the black beans as well.

Best Margarita's in Town. They hand squeeze the limes every morning for the Margaritas. Their salsa, Sabroso chicken, and poncho nachos are excellent. They also have great beer specials during happy hour.

Iama Critic Rating - Sabroso Mexican Grille - 3 Stars 1860 Woodruff Road, Greenville, SC Our Experience: It is staggering to think how many Mexican restaurants there are in Greenville. We review maybe two to three hundred restaurants a year and we still have not covered every Mexican restaurant. And yet with your eyes closed you would find it hard to tell the difference between most of these restaurants because they serve the same boring Americanized, seemingly spiceless, entrees with the same boring beans and rice. Of course there is are exceptions like El Matador, La Yunta, La Parrilla and La Fiesta, with each of these earning four stars or better for various reasons. El Matador earns its five stars for shear quality and flavor, while La Fiesta is the four stars Mexican value King! And let's not forget Papa's and Beer's fabulous Mega Burrito! So where does "World Famoso" Sabroso Mexican Grille fit in the Greenville Mexican world? Well, if I didn't know about the other exceptional Mexican restaurants, Sabroso would be one of my top choices, as it is better than most. But I have dined at all those exceptional restaurants and Sabroso's flavor / quality / value ratio just doesn't break into the upper echelon of available Mexican diners. The Service - 5 Stars (19% tip) We don't normally mention servers by name, but our server Daniel was helpful, social and interactive, going far beyond the norm of just filling glasses. Restaurants need to understand that great wait staff makes you want to come back. Daniel was a joy to be served by and next time I will literally request Daniel by name. For our server's excellent service we provided a 19% $6.68 tip. We typically provide 20% or more for 5 star service on the pre-tax portion of the bill, 18% for 4, 15% for 3, 12% for 2 and 0% for 1 star service. The Food: Table Chips and Salsa - 4 Stars Sabroso's table chips and salsa are about as average as you can get, right up until you request their hot salsa, and then your chips are elevated to a whole new standard. Sabroso's hot salsa is simply fabulous! Ask for it or you will miss out. $10.00 Taco Salad - 3 Stars In the last year I have had some amazing taco salads. Even Golden Corral offers all the ingredients to make a fabulous taco salad. So the average taco salad has radically improved. At $10 this taco salad is not a very good value. For example La Fiesta's entire four stars buffet is only $7 and they offer both small and large taco salad shells with which you can make your taco salad as good as you want. In addition we thought the steak in the taco salad had a odd flavor that turned off my guest critic. $11.99 Fajita Burro 'T' - 3 Stars Advertised as the "Biggest Burrito in Town" it sadly doesn't even come close. Papa's and Beer's $15.00 Mega Burrito takes that crown and despite the extra price, P&B's Mega Burrito puts this burrito to shame. Not only is Papa's and Beer's Mega Burrito huge, weighing several pounds, but it has fabulous flavor to boot. If you are going to say you are the biggest, you got to beat the biggest. $8.99 Combo #22 - 3 Stars This combo is so boring and average I can't even remember what it was. So I went on Sabroso's website to take a look at the menu. But even Sobroso doesn't mention "Combo #22". It might be the beef tostada, pork tamale and cheese chile -relleno, but I am just guessing. The point is that when you forget what you had, it is never a good thing. Total Bill: $45.00 for two adults including tax, a very generous tip and two soda fountain drinks. Final Thoughts: There are countless Mexican restaurants in Greenville, but among them are a handful or exceptional diners, if Sabroso improves they could easily join that group of select restaurants, or they could remain at the top of the average heap.

They put cilantro on almost everything. Are you kidding me???? That crap isn't food. If I wanted to eat poison and not food there are plenty of places that I can get poison. Cilantro is in the same category with poison ivy you really shouldn't put it on food. For real what their problem I went there with my family to eat and couldn't eat anything on the menu WTF?!!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
