Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Three of us went for Birthday dinner. Total cost before tip $163. Had very nice bottle of red wine recommended by waiter. Grilled vegetable app. and cold cut w. Parmesan app were to die for. Linguine with shrimp and mussels cooked in olive oil, garlic was the best entree- really awesome. Mussels/clams entree was also very good. Scalopine entree was ok but very small portion. Tiramasu was nothing special and homemade Gelato was very good. Espressos were perfect. Service left something to be desired-- very inattentive and the place was almost empty. Server promised bread when he served entrees and never came back for 30 minutes. Had the service been up to par it would have been a perfect dining experience.

I have been going here for 25 years, my favorite place to go. I worked for a northern Italian company for 15 year and everyone agreed. Best northern Italian food in north america.

Yup, walked past this joint many times and wondered, "...perhaps one day...." and then it happened. Certainly not a place I would bring my chillins because they would tear this place up and it wouldn't be worth the time. ...but when your boss says, "hey guys, it's time to get some grub." You do what is told and splurge away. I'm not an expert with Northern Italian dishes but it did appear that pasta was seldom used, or at least this particular night. Pizza? Sorry, wrong joint. Wine? Keep it pouring sir. All in all, great dishes and tasty meals. I suppose my only dilemma is that I don't own a large closet of nice clothes to frequent this place. And thank you - that I wasn't paying the bill.

I lived in Florence Italy for a while in college and I'm a pretty tough italian critic. So far no where in greenville has been up to par but this place exceeded expectations. They have great tables by the window, very attentive waitstaff without any attitude or stuffy demeanor, and above all great, authentic food. You know good italian by the freshness of the ingredients and the fact that they don't have stray far from the simple dishes to blow you away. Only thing I would change would be to include a few more moderately priced wines, or some in the $30-50 range. Like a good Tuscan chianti. A bunch of wines were over $100 which is great to have as an option, but might not be the most accessible for everyone or for a casual dinner.

I ate here 7 years ago and was impressed. I was hoping for the same satisfaction, but did NOT get it at all. Maybe they were understaffed that night, but the service wasn't good at all. I sat with a party of 10 that night and It took too long for us to place our food orders once we all arrived to the table. Then, it took too long for our food to come out and there were only 2 other tables of 2 there. Once we were finished with our meals 3 hours later, it took too long for us to get our checks as well. My husband and I ordered a steak and the sauce that came with it was better than the actual meat itself. To me, the food was wayyy overpriced. I had higher expectations, since I had eaten there before. I was disappointed with it this time.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our Valentine Day meal. Service was impeccable. Food was incredible. Just a wonderful experience. Very expensive but well worth it. Great atmosphere.

Food 31/2 stars. Attitude of the female bartender on 5/7/15 minus 5 stars..rude,rude,rude. We had reservations for 7:00 and arrived on time. There were 3 or 4 empty tables. We stood there and finally after 10 minutes I asked why we were not seated and the woman behind the bar made a rude comment and spoke to a gentleman at the bar regarding my question. I will never visit this restaurant again. There are many other restaurants in Greenville that have employees that treat customers with courtesy.

Very good food. Excellent cappuccino. Nice place. Our server - pleasant young lady from Greenville (BJHS) - was terrific. But here are a few laughs: We had to eat very early and arrived (with reservation) about two minutes after their scheduled opening. Door locked. We could see that a member of the staff (I'll refer to him by the pseudonym 'Dick') had watched us try the door. A moment later he unlocked the door, turned on his heel and walked away. Nice welcome, Dick! So in we go and a very nice dinner we had. But as we finished coffee, Dick comes by and without a word and for no explicable reason reaches across my face to clear a single spoon from the table. I almost involuntarily pushed his arm away. I almost voluntarily called him his pseudonym. So save for Dick - a tall man with close-cropped hair and glasses - we enjoyed our first Bergamo experience. If we go back, we'll be sure to keep out of Dick's way.

I had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant over the weekend. For an appetizer we had the beef carpaccio. Absolutely delicious. For my entree I had their homemade pappardelle pasta with shrimp. Fabulous. My friend had the special of the evening which was some lobster dish which he found to be amazing as well. The service was wonderful as well. This restaurant should be packed every night. I think it is treasure that needs to be discovered.

The menu was rather limited and the atmosphere was a bit cold; I think the lights weren't dim enough and the tables rather stark, missing the mark for date night. Not my favorite Italian in Gville.

I had the most incredible meal tonite, it started with a glass of Remole Toscana and a appetizer of prosciutto di Parma the prosciutto is cured in house and the pickled veggies also in house were wonderful. For my main course I had Scaloppine all Aeeto , perfect very tender and prepared well. The side polenta with well seasoned vegetables complimented the dish. I finished with one of the best Tirimisus I have ever had "no kidding" The service was great Priscilla was exceptional and was very knowledge able. I know of few restaurants that can match Bergamos in quality, service, and atmosphere.

Hadnt been here in a while thought I would give it a try....food was very average .....my dish was barely warm....my wife 's dish was porcini risotto... price above average for what you were served....very nice atmosphere...better dining options in this town.

Another "I must say" moment as been achieved. WOW.. Don't know what to say. After passing by this restaurant a few times over the past two weeks, we (two of us) decided to go in and try the special on the menu. So, the item that attracted us was the Black Ink (from an octopus) risotto. It was amazing. Of course, when you receive it, the risotto is black. Very strange however it was cooked well. Excellent consistency. The scallops on top were cooked perfectly. The other dish ordered was the Fettuccine con Gamberi and Arugula. It was basically, fettuccine with shrimps and arugula in a nice olive oil base. Delicious!!! Our waitress was great. Very cozy and intimate restaurant. He as done very well!!

Decent atmosphere, middle of the road food, mediocre service and a chef/owner that may be a fascist. By the way don't bring your own wine they charge $30 corkage. Love family owned restaurants but this on is better left unvisited. :(

The freshest and most delicious Northern Italian cuisine in the Upstate! Eat here once and you will understand why they've been in business 23 years.

Bergamo is apart of the slow food movement, which is great exposure for the Greenville community. I went here with my parents the day before I started college. It was a fantastic send off meal. The service was distance, but the food was most postively present! I had a roasted tomato soup and a caprese salad. We also ordered a mezzo plate. The fish was good too, and melon prosciutto.
