Went in hoping for a very good meal. Didnt quite come close to our expectations. We chose fried pickles as an appetizer. They were bland, without season, very rubbery. Definitely not a fresh item. Guessing they came from U.S.Foods? I chose the lowcountry boil and it came in a very small cast iron pot. Someone decided to throw two clusters of snow crab legs in and each had two legs missing. Otherwise, they were cooked well enough to actually pop the shell and properly eat without the shell crackers. All of this came to light after looking at the menu with food particles stuck to the menu. Word to the wise, clean and sanitize hands after holding the menu. Good luck guessing whether or not they clean anything else before serving you food. Waitress was pleasant. Beer selection is very poor. (Where are the light summertime lagers?) Cant order jack n coke. Its jack and pepsi here. All pepsi products is frowned upon despite being a native of Greenville, and residing in the Lowcountry. Next time im in the area, I will stick with Joes Crab Shack across the street. I dislike negative reviews. This restaurant deserves one today.

Lower quality, mediocre-tasting bar food in a decent sports bar atmosphere. Not great, but not entirely disgusting (although the specialty mixed drinks were pretty nasty...but if you're into college-esque, candy sweet flavors you might disagree).

Awful :( the staff wondered around like they were lost. The food was ho hum. Crab Bisque was ok. Won't be back!

Was not at all impressed. Got the prime rib sandwich and it was a steak- um chopped up and thrown on some bread. Definitely not worth the price. Will definitely NOT be going back

Love this place. Great food, great atmosphere. Service is fast and I have never had a bad experience with any servers. I know them by name and they know me by name. Highly recommend Palmetto Ale. My favorite place to eat and have drinks. Outside deck and music on Thursday is a must visit.

Nice place to grab some beers and decent grub. The outside patio is a chill place to hangout and has tvs outside so you don't have to miss any games you may want to watch. Menu has a good assortment of choices and there is a wide selection of beers on tap. Solid prices and great happy hour deals during the week.

Can't speak to the food or drink, but the service sucks. No fewer than four wait staff at tables around me. Not one asked if I needed even water. There could not have been more people assigned to work the bar area where I was sitting. Even the host could have helped by taking a drink order...but no, he just stood there. So, I won't be back.

I came in for lunch. I chose this place because it's the only place that wasn't a major chain and is locally owned on that strip. I was pretty disappointed. I walked in and wasn't greeted by anyone so I made my way to the bar area. The service isn't great. The servers seem more concerned with talking to friends than being very present. The food wasn't great either. I ordered the chicken cheese steak. The chicken was dry and it was loaded with mushrooms, which I guess I was not expecting was an ingredient (my fault). The side I got was cheesy grits. I took one bite and that was enough to last a lifetime. Pretty bad.

This place is rough and deserves the crappy reviews it has. Just seems unorganized and has a unmotivated staff. Crab dip was bland and the chips were stale...praying I won't get sick tonight. Nice building and everything and has high potential, don't see it staying around long.

What a great place! I loved the ambiance and the staff were very nice. Food was amazing and I enjoyed the beer samples! I finally was able to try a hops beer, terrapin hopsecutioner IPA, that I've been afraid to buy. It was delicious by the way! I love the croissants with honey butter!!! Mmmmmm so good! I left fat and happy!

I grew up eating my great grandmother's fried green tomatoes.. my family traveled the world while I grew up however when we came to the south, I would always make sure I had great granny make me some pulled fresh from her garden. As an adult I have become an unofficial fried green tomato connoisseur. You don't need a lot of breading. The ale house killed the tomato with too much breading. The hostess is unaware of the carryout policy. She aimlessly walked around searching for my food before asking the bartender. I asked for honey mustard for my chicken philly and was assured it would be in my bag. NOPE! NOTHING IS WORSE THAN A DRY SANDWICH! The sandwich also lacked love and imagination. I was disappointed for what was going to be my dinner while out of town. I will NOT return to the Ale House the next time I have to visit Greenville.

My wife just brought home two take-out Low Country Boils (crab legs, corn, sausage, shrimp). Mine was gross. The snow crab was dirt brown and mush inside. Other than the shrimp, the rest was overcooked. Whoever let that leave the kitchen should be fired.

We ate here after deciding not to eat at Logan's. LOGAN'S WOULD HAVE BEEN A MUCH BETTER CHOICE. Palmetto Restaurant and Ale House is located on Pelham road in the old Tony Romo's building. Pros: Nice clean restaurant Red neck moonshine tea Cons: 1. The server at the bar was extremely slow-like I am old as shit and even I could walk faster. 2. The food is so bland and unmemorable that even if they had a happy hour I would not go back. 3. The prices are what I would expect to pay at Longhorn steakhouse and have paid cheaper prices for a steak. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

The service at this place is not the best for one. Also they charge you for every extra thing you order. I had wings that were $17 which is high to begin with and I asked for an extra side of hot sauce and I was charged for it. My wife ordered a grilled chicken sandwich buffalo style and she was also charged for hot sauce. I have never heard of this in my life. It is very unfortunate because this place is close to our house but everything that has been in that building lacks value. Over all the food is over priced for what you get and the atmosphere lacks comfort and enthusiasm.

I so want to love this place, but I always end up feeling seriously unimpressed after I eat there. I guess if you keep in mind you are going to get "bar food" you'll be okay. Don't expect a 5 star dining experience.

Love this place! It is a great bar/grill with good food and good service. Fun place to take the kids. Kids meals are served on a frisbee and come with a dessert so they are happy. The dry run wings are some of the best around. They have a good menu with a lot of options. The service has always been good and the staff is friendly. Nice patio for good weather.

Nice sports bar atmosphere with very friendly staff. Our server, Nick, was very attentive and professional. I ordered the Palmetto cheeseburger done medium. It was done perfectly and very tasty. As a side I ordered both fries and coleslaw. The fries were very good but the coleslaw was just ok. My wife ordered the shrimp platter (grilled) with onion rings. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and tasty. The onion rings were soggy. We would not recommend them. All in all, a nice experience. We'll be back.

Do not eat here! There are not words to describe how terrible the food is here. The kitchen cannot even serve nachos that are not burned. The management are in complete denial and do not want to correct anything. The steaks are bland and rare on one side and well done on the other. Terrible cooking. I cannot stress enough to anyone who may be considering eating here, just don't. Greenville has some of the most shit food of anywhere I have been , and this one is the worst I have had.

Thought the food was good. Shrimp were delicious. Chicken fingers could feed two. Nice selection of beer/ale. Really enjoyed the hot crab dip. No noisier than Carolina Ale House. Good service and reasonable prices (unlike assessment of others).

Large restaurant. Went with friends on Valentines day and had great food and service. We ordered several appetizers (ribs and spinach dip) which were very yummy. Entree's were all very good, deserts were just ok, nothing to get excited about. Best part about this place is the menu of Firefly drinks! They have about 7 custom cocktails made with Firefly sweet tea vodka and they were AMAZING!

New restaurant as of August 2012. Great beer menu: 37 on tap, including locals and specialties. Menu has salads, sandwiches and entrees, with a SC southern flair. Tv's to watch games everywhere in the restaurant. With all the chain restaurants close by, this is a great local option.

Do NOT order the shrimp and grits! They were watered down grits with frozen shrimp and the only "seasonings" in it was a spoonful of bacon grease on top. The sandwich and onion rings that my guest had we're good, but not great. On the plus side, the staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was very nice.

It was ok. Our waiter was real slow at first but picked it up toward the end. Wings for me, fish and chips for the wife. We were both fine with our selections. Nothing to write home about but not bad at all. Will repeat if in the area but will not seek out, if that makes sense.

First time visit. Iced tea was old. Wife had to wait 10 minutes for them to make more at 7pm. Asked for most popular dish. Was told steaks, fish and chips or shrimp and grits. Ordered fish and chips with extra crisp fries. Got undercooked fries. Fish was first in my life (56 years) I couldn't cut with a fork. Tough fish. Cole slaw was forgotten until reminded. Malt vinegar as advertised never came. Tarter sauce as advertised brought after requested. Empty tea and beer glass for 5 minutes before bill came. Not very busy. Kinda loud music. Lousy food. Poor service. Felt sorry for the server who tried hard. She had no support. No manager in sight ever. A one and done place for me.
