Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

I wish I could do two and a half stars. Half the time it's great, half the time.... Not so much. Today I got the grilled chicken tuscano with no onions or tomatoes. The first was made with tomatoes and it took almost 20 minutes to get a correct one due to kitchen errors. The chicken left a lot to be desired. It had little flavor other than the overly sweet sauce and had some fatty bits. The sauce was a little too sweet and the spinach was completely over-sauced leaving it sugary in taste. I'd give the service three stars. The waiter was nice.

Lunch was nice, typical. The waiter was sweet but seemed distracted. Overall did a good job though. Food was good, hot, tasty and presented well. Not innovative but consistent venue. The desserts were very sweet- just what we wanted.

We went with my son's soccer team after a game. 14 players and 23 family members. We were seated at 4 different tables which was fine. Other than our group the restaurant was fairly empty for a mid sized city on a Saturday night. The Rush was definitely over! Three tables were served after an hour and fifteen minutes. My table was served after 1 hour 40 minutes. We were told when the others received their food that our tAble's order had been put in with directions to hold the order for 20 minutes by mistake. The staff was very apologetic but no compensation was offered. The food is mediocre at best and my water was refilled only once.......and my ice was melted well before the food arrived. Very disappointed. Have not been here in years...will not be back!

I love eating at Olive Garden. Unfortunately, this location leaves a lot to be desired. Service is slow, wait times are long (because there are not enough servers), and food comes out warm (not hot). Parking is ample and free, which is great. The floor is carpet (gross). Think about all the things that fall on it during a single day (kids, messy eaters, broken dishes), and think about how much bacteria is probably growing in that carpet. I live around the corner from this location, but do not plan to go back.

Well- once again Olive Garden and made me not want to come back. Service was okay, but the waitress tried to take my food three times before I was done. Food was tasteless, everyone at my table had to add salt and pepper and still wasn't enough. Only thing I enjoyed was the breadsticks. Soup was great but was taken before I could finish- so that was just "great" and the brand new "Ziosk" is just a pain. It said we had two tickets (the ticket that was not ours wanted to charge $30) and we only had one and we pressed the "call waiter" button and no one came to help.

I have always enjoyed Olive Garden. The first two times at this location were decent. But the last time I visited was spectacular. I decided to stop during lunch and my server, Jordan, was attentive and helpful. She really strived to make sure my time there was as perfect as possible. I will return and ask for her!

I went right around eleven when they first opened with three family members. The waiter was a little nice, but he was also annoyed at us by simply asking for refills, something on the menu, more breadsticks, ETC. On top of that the ice machine was broken (which I didn't understand, don't you think they would have more than one ice machine?) and the tea was hot. I got the chicken Gnocci soup which had a weird taste to it (I had the same thing at a different location and it was amazing) and the tour of Italy which was just terrible except for the chicken parmesan. I would definitely return, but at a different time... Now I know what not to order!

I went a few weeks ago and the service was really bad. Decided to give them another chance and this time the food came out hot and fast. Very friendly staff and no waiting for a table. The waitress was very friendly and made sure we had drinks at all times. I tried their buy one take one deal and I was very impressed with their Mezzaluna Ravioli with marinara. It was very good and portion size was not bad for the price of 12.99 plus I took another dish of the ravioli home with me. Heating them up the next day didn't change their taste. It tasted just like it did at the restaurant. I love going to olive garden and will definitely be going back again.

Iama Critic Rating - Olive Garden - 3 Stars 2695 Laurens Road, Greenville, SC Overall: Olive Garden has radically increased their prices and reduced their portions. No matter how good the food, this equal less stars! Be prepared to pay too much and enjoy what little they serve you. However, the all you can eat soup and salad can make up for that if you are satisfied with soup and salad ALL YOU CAN EAT SOUP AND SALAD Spicy Zuppa Toscana soup - 4 Stars Depending on who is dishing your bowl you can get a heavenly chunky, spicy, bowl filled with sausage, or you can get a bowl of spicy potato water. Tell your waiter what you expect and make sure you get it. If you get a bowl like the one I received, you will be very happy, but we took off a star for inconsistency. Pasta E Fagioli soup - 4 Stars This bowl of soup is served with much more constancy than their Zuppa Toscana, so you can expect a good bowl every time. But as good as this soup is, it is begging to become an awesome chili! But Olive Garden is an Italian restaurant so there is little chance that they will allow their Fagioli to become what it really should be. THE ENTREES Ok, we have come to Olive Garden's entrees and things are about to get hard. Why? Because Olive Garden has radically raised their prices and cut back on portions. $14.99 (ouch!) - Chicken Scampi - 3 Stars ($2 too much) This entree amounts to a single chicken breast (cheap) served with pasta (cheap) and mixed veggies (cheap). The profit on this smallish entree must be incredible! Oh, it taste as good as it looks, so if paying too much sits well with you, then you will be satisfied! But if you don't eat plenty of bread sticks, salad and soup, you are going to go home hungry. Seriously, this is a small plate of food. $16.99 (Holy Cow) - Mixed Grill - 3 Stars ($4 too much) Holy Cow! For this price you can get all you can eat baby back ribs at Sonny's BBQ! But, believe it or not Olive Garden only gives you three small chunks of chicken and three chunks of steak. The profit on this smallish entree must be utterly outrageous! This simple dish tastes as good as it looks, and was delightfully cooked. So again, if paying too much sits well with you, then you will be satisfied! THE BILL Ok, we have come to Olive Garden's bill and you will notice that Olive Garden has radically raised their prices. And some items, like their Tour of Italy platter have skyrocketed. The TOI is now $16.49 which is a huge $4 more than it used to be. And here is the rub. First, we are talking about pasta and it is hard to justify expensive pasta entrees when the main ingredient is extremely cheap! Second, Olive Garden has at the same time cut back on their portions. The Tour of Italy is significantly smaller than it used to be. And they wonder why customers are leaving in droves? Higher prices and smaller portions equals fewer stars, period! AND HOW TO BEAT OLIVE GARDEN AT IT'S OWN HIGH PRICE GAME: Here is a real way to beat Olive Gardens prices. Go for their all you can eat lunch soups and salad. And try all of their awesome soups, salad, and bread-sticks for a measly $6.99, now that is worth going to Olive Garden for!

I started with the calamari. It was breaded and deep-fried (as one might expect) and came with two sauces - a marinara and a garlicky cheesy sauce. Overall, the dish was not worth the calories; it could have used another minute or two in the fryer as it was rather pale and just was not a stand-out as flavor goes. I love the all-you-can-eat soup or salad and breadsticks that accompany the entres. Never been disappointed with the Minestrone or the salad. I went for the $12.99 3-course Grilled Chicken with Roasted Garlic Alfredo sauce. Wow. This very well may become my regular go-to meal at Olive Garden. I loved that it was served hot, hot! It brings out the garlicky cheesy flavor wonderfully. The three courses include the soup-or-salad, the Alfredo pasta dish, and either a chocolate mousse or one of their dolce (?) shots. No issues with the attentive service.

Could rank one of the worst olive garden branch in the whole system. 1. The whole place stinks like dead fish. That's a warning sign if you are not going to a fish market. 2. Table, desk dirty and greasy. 3. Food is horrible, ordered Pappardelle Pescatore, spending $16.99 for some microwaved thing. All noodles stick to each other, less than $3's amounts of seafood in the plate, super overcharged and gross. I will never ever come back.
(1)Manoj B.
The food is good. Especially, the 'All you can eat' Soup and Salad along with the Bread Sticks. But when you come to the entrees - the portions are small and pricey.
(3)Rolanda G.
they changed the menu yet again. i love there LEMON CAKE it keeps me coming back. the new menu is very visual and u expect things that don 't actually appear. the wait time was not long, the food was hot and the staff was friendly and helpful. the menu change is the second in just a couple months obvious as a chain the got flakey people at the top.

Whether you think this is real Italian food or not is pretty much irrelevant. The quality of the food and the service is what I am reviewing here. Today my wife and I ate lunch here. When we walked in the door we were greeted with the Host (not hostess) smacking his gum so hard that he didn't notice us standing there. The hostess next to him, noticing that he was not going to acknowledge us finally asked us how many and took us to our table. So from that moment I thought that our experience could only go down from there. However I was wrong. The waiter that we had was probably the best waiter we've ever had at this place. He was attentive, prompt, and very helpful. He anticipated what we may need before we asked for it. I made it a point to seek out the manager and tell her about how good he was. But I also told her about the gum smacking host at the same time. To which she said, "I'll nip that in the bud right now." I gave him a $10 tip (cash) on a $37 check. So that tells you how much I liked him. The food was good. Same as usual (whether you thinks it's real Italian or not). Hot and presumably fresh. While I know it's mostly repackaged everything like Applebee's is. But it did taste good. So next time you go, ask for "Joe". You won't be sorry that you did.

Hair in my soup!!! We were hungry so stopped in this Olive Garden and each ordered "the soup and salad, NO bread." We got breadsticks and a bowl containing white lettuce, two black olives, a single slice of red onion, a single slice of tomato, and a bunch of croutons. No soup. We ate some salad that was awash in dressing and after 20 minutes we inquired about our soup. She assured us it was coming and soon brought us each a nice hot bowl. My husband had the kale and sausage soup and said it was hot and tasty. I ordered the soup with red beans and white beans with some little pasta. It was tasty enough but we were disgusted to find a long hair IN MY BOWL OF SOUP! Don't food preparers wear hairnets anymore? Needless to say left the remainder of my soup and will never eat in this restaurant again.

Driving from Atlanta to Charlotte, about halfway through I decided that it was time for a break and I wanted a sit-down restaurant. Olive Garden's sign fit the bill, even though it was 3 in the afternoon which, like my location, was split between lunch and dinner. I haven't been to OG in at least five years. Surprisingly busy for this time of day, the hostess was able to bring me to a table that looked exactly like the OG I remembered. Rolling seats with arms and smooth wooden tables with vague Italian music playing loudly over the speakers. This didn't block the noise or chatter from other tables - they just spoke louder, including a table of kids that probably needed to be tossed out. Feeling like a classic, I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs. After my order, my waitress brought the bread (yum!) and the salad (yum!). Both also haven't changed in five years. The salad arrives in a very large bowl and you serve yourself. Lots of lettuce and dressing, two olives, two slices of roma tomato and two pepperocini peppers. ;-) Sadly, the spaghetti was a major disappointment. It was beyond al dente and was too soft. The meat sauce had a burned taste. In no mood to send it back, I suffered through. At least the meatballs and the bread were perfect. I didn't have dessert or drinks. This kept the price below $10, plus tip. I was more than a little surprised to see that OG hasn't changed since my last visit, 5 years back. With so many competitors in the family-style Italian restaurant space - Maggiano's, Macaroni Grill and Carino's come to mind immediately - they seem to be the same place they've always been. Looking at their stock ticker (DRI), they are on the up over the last year, so I guess it's working for them. (And when was the last time you saw finance info in a Yelp review, eh?) Would I return? Maybe I would and if so, I'll absolutely have something else.

Honestly, I am not a fan of OG. My colleagues wanted Italian for lunch and since this was quick this is where we ended up. Being a foodie, not really a fan of the chains (other than some fast food) so I kind of went in thinking it wasn't going to be that fulfilling. What I ordered was ok. It wasn't bad by any means. I ordered a grilled chicken spiedini. It was grilled chicken cubes, with potatoes, and grilled veggies. Healthy and had a decent flavor. Even though this was a decent experience, I am still not a fan. I didn't want to give it a bad review because the service was good, the price was very reasonable and the food was decent. Just not being a fan wasn't enough to give it any less stars.
(3)Matt T.
Olive Garden is always great. The only problem I had was the server setting a hot plate directly in front of my 1 year old daughter. other than that it was great.
(4)Kadie L.
I know this place gets a lot of mixed reviews, but I enjoy the pasta and salad. No, its not the best of the best but it hits the spot for sure. The salad is my favorite. I also love the chicken or eggplant parm and the gnocchi is good as well.
(4)Mary I.
Consistent! I had the Stuffed Chicken Marsala with Garlic Mashed Potatoes and a Moscato Wine tonight :-) . Good food and wine, service was a little slow but not too bad!
(4)Steve C.
Less than one star, found a band aid in my pasta and the manager offered to remake my meal, SERIOUSLY! Gross. I dig Olive Garden but this one is NOT good
(1)Ruben L.
I swear this place is ALWAYS busy. During all you can eat time, yeah I can understand, but on a Tuesday in the middle of winter, you got a line? WTF??? Do people not realize it's just an Olive Garden? People, people, people, do yourself a favor and go to a larger city where you can try something other than a chain restaurant.
(3)Willa G.
It's always busy because it's good! I had 3 cheese ziti, husband had chicken Parmesan along with salad and bread sticks for around $20. DELISH!! Service was great. We will be back again. Plus, there's a Stein Mart next door :)

So we all know that Olive Garden is basically like Applebee's doing a Mario impression. When Olive Garden was created, it was the final victory lap Italian culture in the war to achieve mainstream acceptance in America. Alas, it was a Pyrrhic victory, because everything remotely authentic about Italian food has been strained out and the remainder molded into an exercise in culinary corporatism. These restaurants are only one or two remodelings short of looking like they should be in a theme park. Here's the top things you need to know about this particular Olive Garden, although some of the things I'm about to say also apply to its clones that exist in every mid-sized city in America: 1) It will always, always, always be crowded as hell. You will always have to wait and you will rarely be able to find a parking space that isn't either jerry-rigged out of an empty spot in the adjacent parking lot or stolen from a handicapped person. And there will always be at least three motorcycles in the parking lot taking up a whole space a piece. 2) Even though there's a lot on the menu, you will scan the whole thing three or four times before realizing there's nothing on it that jumps out at you, and you'll just settle for whatever sounds vaguely savory. 3) Whatever you pick won't be very savory. 4) The wait staff won't be very good. The last time I was here, the waiter's tie fell into the pasta sauce while she was serving the dish and she didn't notice. 5) You will leave wondering why you came there, but the next time you think about coming you'll just remember the unlimited salad and breadsticks (which actually aren't half bad) and decide to go again.

I loved Olive Garden until the other day. The service was great but I ordered Mediterranean chicken. It was tough and dry on the outside having been over seared. But the thicker part of the inside was raw! Moreover, some of the waitresses looked absolutely dumpy. I'm sorry, but when I go to a restaurant, I want to see fairly well dressed staff members. I don't mean that have to be beautiful or good looking but they shouldn't seem to shuffle about in dress that makes them look disheveled. I took some friends from Japan there and they could not believe I took them to a place like that. I'm sorry, but there is more to a dining experience than food and service and the physical ambiance.
(2)Allen B.
This is a mixed review. The food is usually pretty good. Soup, salad, bread are all exceptional. Even though it is crowded, you have to eat there. DO NOT ORDER TO GO! After SIX orders in a row that were wrong, or lacking items, I had to toss the to-go menu in the trash.
(2)Wayne F.
OK, I'm giving it 4 stars because of me... I'm finicky, I love their pastas and there Zupa Toscana (soup) but I ask for them to leave out the greenery in the soup well 2 out of 10 times I get lucky! But really the food is excellant!
