Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Today I was so very disappointed. I had been here once before when it first opened and received friendly service but a couple years later....guess things have changed. I brought a friend who is new to the area and never heard of gelato. We asked for a sample and got hit with the most rude and demanding girl serving gelato. I asked for a sample and she took a huge loud breath as tho I asked her to do the hardest task (sampling is normal). she says "Move to the register and order then you can get a sample" I told her but how do I order if I'm not sure yet what to get. She hands the sample...as my friend asked for one as well...I was looking at the menu and the board over her head...she kept saying "Move to place your order" My friend nicely says "we are looking at your menu" Employee points to other side of counter and says it again...(mind you NO ONE is behind us) We go to the register and the person there says what can I get you, I told her i dont know, cause your rude employee did not give me a chance to look at the menu, so do you have your menu on paper so i can pick something. They gave me a menu and said Sorry, management makes us act this way...we are normally not this rude. Guy comes in after us and I hear him saying He really doesn't need the attitude after coming from a funeral...and his girlfriend says "damn she is demanding and rude" I dont even remember how good the Gelato was. Management...if you tell your employees to be rude and demanding then shame on you...if not then teach how to use a softer tone and listen to the request of customers. I felt disrespected and was so upset, I still don't know what you guys sell other then gelato and coffee. #awefulservice

Holy cow! This spot is mind blowing. Family owned, and family recipes really light this spot up. The gelato is to die for, they have continual new flavors which is exciting. The menu is awesome! My favorite specialty item is the fire roasted eggplant and tomato bisque, it's a must try.
(5)L T.
Easy and quick lunch! Perfect amount of food and free samples of gelato of course. The servers are really friendly and talkative. Try a salad if you are feeling healthy, it was very fresh!
(4)Joey N.
We came for lunch and it's great, I love the cute setting and service was great considering the cafe was totally packed at 2ish! I had pizza panini and it was very good. It was very comfortable sitting there looking out to the side street and the people. Of coz we tried their gelato after our lunch! This is definitely one of my favorite cafes!
(5)Candice S.
I found the gelato uninspired (I had the tiramisu and the Bailey's). It wasn't inedible, but it wasn't something I'd go out of my way to try again. The Yelp price range here is misleading--all gelato should be under $10--for the price at Luca Rosa (I paid around $5), I'd have liked a little more je ne sais pas, that little bit of whimsy that makes gelato worthwhile. At least the guys working the counter were nice?
(3)Natalie M.
awesome gelato (: but I haven't had anything off the food menu yet.
(5)Brett S.
Good sandwich, gelato.
(4)Robin D.
The gelato here is fabulous! A sign outside the door says it's been voted the best gelato in SC and I believe it! The line for this place is usually out the door! It gets kind of crazy because the owner has to direct the flow by letting in one person at a time and giving instructions about how the line operates once you're in the door. Hopefully they'll get a less confusing system or more room eventually! Here's how it goes: You select the size(s) you want and pay the cashier first. (It's around $5.35 for a medium that comes with up to two flavors.) The cashier passes your size(s) order to a server and, once a server has your size(s) and let's you know it's your turn, you may sample as many flavors as you like. They actually discourage you from perusing the display case until this point in the process. After you've made your selection(s) to your server, they dish it up and make a super-high swirl with the gelato that's kind of fun. I haven't tried anything other than the gelato here, but if you enjoy gelato, I highly recommend it!

Wow, this place is outstanding. Was in town on business and stumbled across it when looking for lunch. I had the French dip panini and it was one of the best I've ever had. I asked for an Arnold Palmer to drink, but all they could do was an Arnold Schwarzenegger - an Arnold Palmer on steroids - iced tea with lemon gelato - amazing! The service is great and the gelato is incredible. I was actually sad when my lunch was over. Can't wait to come back!
(5)Johnny S.
Amazing! My two boys and I ate lunch there, and we all loved it. I had the pannini of the day, which was freshly sliced roast beef served with an amazing au jus. It was perfect, the beef was thinly sliced and juicy. They made a special "pizza" pannini for my 5 year old, and my other son had the ziti pasta. We each had a child's size cup of gelato, which is plenty! The portions are generous, and the staff is very friendly. The cappucino gelato is very good! I am definately coming back!!! Next time I would like to try their pizzas, they looked very good. Just an added note, if you choose a salad with your sandwich the salad is chopped lettuce with some balsamic vinegar and cherry tomatoes. I liked it, but only because I like balsamic.
(5)Uncle G.
Was yearning for real gelato. They have it! We often head for Luna Rosa after dinner at home for a gelato "fix". The staff is friendly and helpful. Have also had lunch there several times and highly recommend it. We asked the owner to help us serve gelato at a recent event we hosted and he made it happen. This place is top rated in my book. Uncle George.
(5)Kelly D.
I'm a big fan of this place. The mandarin bliss salad with grilled shrimp is my go-to and I crave it often. Paninis are also quite good. The gelato is good, and it's so rich that you really don't need more than the kids-size cup (which they will sell you without any weird age restrictions) - definitely try the praline if you have the chance. The almond is also really good. The down-sides to this place are: they only serve dinner Thurs - Sat, and it's really small, so seating is a challenge during peak lunch and/or dinner times.
(5)Cheryl H.
Best pizza we have ever had! My husband and I stopped in a few weeks ago because he was in the mood for gelato, but when we saw the menu we decided to have lunch instead. I ordered the bowl of tomato eggplant soup which came steaming hot, so creamy and delicious I wanted to eat the whole bowl myself but as my husband ordered the veggie pizza I knew I should share if I wanted to sample his! The soup was some of the best we have ever had and the thin crust veggie pizza was definitively the best! We took my mother there yesterday for pizza and she adored it, ate the whole thing! My husband had the chicken panini which he loved and I had the chicken tortilla soup which was just spicy enough, loaded with chicken and in a tomato base. Delicious! The gelato is is better than we have had in Europe, made fresh every morning, and there is such a great variety we plan to try them all. Service is fast and friendly. We highly recommend this jewel, it's so much more than just gelato!
(5)Pam G.
I had a lovely lunch at Luna Rosa while in Greenville recently. Once again, Yelp steered me to the right place. Even though it is a gelato shop, they have delicious salads and panninis. I had a very hard time deciding what to order because all of the soups, sandwiches and salads sounded so good. I ordered the cheesesteak pannini which came with your choice of a salad, fruit, or pasta salad side. I had the salad with balsamic vinaigrette. The salad ingredients were all very fresh and crispy and the vinaigrette was light and tasty. The pannini was delicious. The london broil was nicely cooked and it was great with the carmelized onions and cheese. The service was also outstanding. I was served a taster of key lime gelato when I first sat down and tastings of salted caramel and chocolate velvet gelato after my lunch. They were all good, but the salted caramel was my favorite. Since the sandwich was so good though I ate too much of it and I had no room for gelato afterwards.
(4)Rich M.
Great gelato shop! One of the highlights of our trip. I would be sure to hit this place up if In ever in the area again. If you have a sweet tooth you cant miss it!
(5)Heidi H.
Tried it three times, each time it did not have a fresh flavor. It tasted freezer burned... weird after taste...servers seem hit or miss. Will not be back. Have enjoyed much better gelato elsewhere.
(1)Steven G.
Great gelatos! I got a regular cone which had 2 scoops and can be different flavors. I got birthday cake and cookies & cream. B-day cake was awesome. Tasted like the flavor at Cold Stone. Note: pay first then give your ticket and then ask for something to try. I tried 4 flavors before I made my cone and they encourage sampling! Great place to cool off in the South Carolina heat.
(5)Rebecca C.
Went here for gelato one day - went back the next. ohmigosh so good. I haven't tried the lunch or dinner fare here but i would love to try it. Service was great. Had the tiramasu, coconut, caramaletta, and cookies and cream (you get 2 flavors in a cup at once). Be careful. It's addictive.
(5)J W.
This place has quickly become one of my favorite, "lesser known" dinner spots to take friends. Their minds are always blown because of the immediate association with the best gelato in town, but no one (unless you'd previously been for lunch) really knows about the awesome dinners this place serves. The perfect portions, homemade food prepared with care and with family recipes, and great service keep me coming back. Heck, I couldn't stay away from the gelato in the first place.
(5)Ben A.
I went to Luna Rosa probably six or seven times for gelato before I finally decided to try the food. Both are absolutely delicious (and not too expensive). I recommend trying whatever the daily special is. I've done that several times, and it's always been great! I don't have a favorite dish - they're all good. Definitely sample a bunch of flavors of gelato before you settle on one.
(5)I. F.
We just thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. We tried the Sicilian, Prosciuto, and the French with au jus dip Paninis, and they were so flavorful. We had salads and fruit with balsamic vinegar reductions--they were so satisfying and professionally done. We loved the spare but hip atmosphere, and the server was very helpful, friendly, knowledgeable. The gelato was very good; we must have eaten 6 samples each before we decided. Loved the pumpkin, tiramisu, hazelnut, Jamaican Lime, among others. The gelato is made on site with a machine in back; while it is very creamy, it is actually much lower in fat than most icecreams. If I were forced to voice an objection, I would say the portions, along with the savory tastes and style of the food, are also European, which is to say they're rather small. Don't go thinking you're going to load up here. Instead, you're going to enjoy a European atmosphere and some dynamite food that's just right. The place is a little small, too, but even on a Friday night we had no trouble getting a table--this is a big plus in my book. I hate waiting in lines. We can't wait to go back.
(5)Luke R.
my server was a gentleman named rick, he was polite and food was great, didnt take long to get food, also had free gelato samples, theres a reason this place is number one for food on yelp
(5)Teresa J.
I took my husband here after coming from the movies. This is the 2nd time I have tried this place and I must say my opinion of the gelato is no better than the last time. The gelato is too cold to be gelato. Gelato melts quickly. It was 90+ degrees outside and this gelato never melted. As a matter of fact, I didn't waste any of the gelato due to melting. Another difference is the gelato I had was grainy and not smooth. This is also an indication that the gelato was too cold. Finally the the flavor is not intense. Gelato has wonderful fresh favors. For me, I don't like all of the flavors displayed. This is just a personal preference. I don't want strawberry shortcake, or blue moon something or another. I like strawberry, melon, banana, cherry, real fruit flavors. Each time we are in Italy we eat gelato a minimum of twice a day for a week or more at a time, but even my husband said he wouldn't go back here for the gelato. Some people may like it, but for us, we have ad much, much better.
(2)Sharp H.
Great little place. This site was once actually a frozen custard store, so I guess they're really going through the cycles of "variations on ice cream" at this location. But the current iteration has been pretty successful so I guess they're here to stay. If you've been to a gelateria you know the drill: more flavors in your cup with increasing size. Everything I've had here has been delicious - chocolate/fruit combos are especially good. They also serve actual and drinks here, so I guess you could make it a full meal. When it's warm the line is pretty long (this strip of Washington seems to suffer chronic long-line-itis), so that's something to watch out for.
(4)melody l.
I'm still new to gelato, but then again so is Greenville. But still the best I've ever tried, and I'm now living in Los Angeles! The nutella flavor-a staple at Luna Rosa- is incredible...but my all time favorite is the Donatella. I am going to make sure to call ahead next time and double check they have my favorite flavor!! Great location in downtown greenville, with lovely little patio seating. Family owned and operated, and what a nice family they are!! I never tried the food yet..but the gelato keeps me coming back again and again when I'm in town.
(5)Way H.
I get gelato here everytime I'm in Greenville, even if I'm full and don't have room. This is the best Gelato around. Try the Peanut Butter Cookie if they have it.
(5)Brent I.
A friend from school turned me on to this place. Everything I have ever tried here has been excellent. Gelato, sorbet, lunch salads, and sandwiches. I tend to go more for the sorbet than the gelato, but that's just my preference. It's also nice to have the tables curbside during fair weather so that I can stop by when taking the dogs downtown.
(4)T E.
Great lunch. Great gelato. Great service. Have been here probably 10 times and am never dissapointed. Gelato is as good as what I had in Italy. Everything is made freshly in-house. Check it out.
(5)cara p.
Really good! Pricey but most things in downtown here are. Great selections of gelato and always fun to look in the window!
(4)Cindi R.
Fantastic gelato. You can't walk into this place without getting gelato, it's so temptingly displayed The peanut butter is to die for. I tasted the key lime, and it was very tart and smooth. Lovely. The food looks fantastic too. I'm bummed I won't get to try it as we're leaving town tomorrow. Glad I tried this place. You should too!
(4)Food L.
It is the best and the only (which makes it the best) Gelato place in Greenville. Quality has been consistent but quantity has reduced drastically. The last before time we went my husband had to buy one more as he wasn't satisfied with the quantity (which reduced now), he let the server know why he was taking one and the server says "It's okay!". The last time we went we let them know while they were making our cone and the server said "she has been working for so long so she can put the gelato all the way in so it looks less for us". PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABT THE QUANTITY!!!!!!!!!
(3)Justin M.
Awesome!!!! The gelato is delicious. And the staff is super friendly. Every single flavor I sampled was amazing. Ended up getting the strawberry shortcake. Highly recommended.
(4)Susan A.
My husband and I stopped for a mid-afternoon gelato snack, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The gelato flavors we tasted and those we finally chose were all delicious. We will definitely return the next time we are in Greenville.
(5)Morgan D.
If you're going for food and not gelato, don't bother! They no longer have lunch/dinner food.
(2)Jennifer A.
Tasty paninis and wonderful bowl of spicy sausage lentil soup. Service was a bit hit or miss. Nice decor Gelato was awesome!!
(4)Jennifer S.
Luna Rosa is easily one of my favorite restaurants in Greenville. The food is fresh, delicious and made from scratch...and to top things off, there's also a FANTASTIC selection of creamy, flavorful, homemade gelato that's sure to cure your sweet tooth! People complain about the amount of time it takes to get their food, but the fact of the matter is, it takes longer because it's freshly prepared (and it is so worth the wait). And to add to my already very positive review, the staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. My girlfriends and I went there for lunch today (5/2/14) and called ahead because we were on a time crunch. When we got there, they already had a table waiting for us with our food ready to go. Overall: great atmosphere, great food, great people and great service. I will be recommending Luna Rosa to everyone I know!
(5)Pepe N.
Rude service, mediocre gelato. I think this place needs to shut down and something else be put in there. I would not recommend the food unless you like human body hair. Gross, disgusting, and way overpriced.
(1)Win W.
Tricked by the name of the place (I am Italian), I expected to have a real gelato... nothing more than a cold semi-tasteless and sugary cream. Pricey & unprofessional service as well
(1)Amanda P.
I love sitting outside here during the warmer months and getting a pizza and gelato. The pesto pizza is my favorite-it has a thin crispy crust and homemade "moms" pesto. I would also recommend the sangria and blood orange sorbet!
(4)Lisa S.
I had a great casual business lunch here, and loved every minute of it. Luna Rosa has everything a downtown cafe should - food, drinks, dessert, and atmosphere. I had the Copra salad, which has grilled shrimp, balsamic vinagrette glaze, toasted walnuts, and pecan breaded goat cheese balls. It was absolutely delicious and I cleaned my plate. The manager kept tempting us with samples of the gelato and I'm glad he did! I had the caramel latte crunch kid size cup, and it was the perfect ending to a great meal. I will definitely be back again.
(5)Tara F.
I was very happy with my lunch experience. Great wait staff and service. The meatball panini was delish with a side salad. I loved how they brought out samples while waiting. I will definitely be back for lunch.
(4)Dustin M.
If you are wanting Gelato, this is the place to go! I've never eaten dinner there, but plan to one day. Anytime i'm near I must go in and have some of their delicious gelato. A must go!
(5)J S.
Customer service was very poor and set up is confusing. This led to an extremely long wait period and an impatient man behind the counter. That being said, their gelato and sorbet is incredible. Despite the downsides, we will return..Hopefully when it is less busy and a nicer individual is behind the counter. The gelato/sorbet deserves 5 stars.
(3)C S.
Gelato is very good. Pizza is thin crust with lots of toppings, very good. Friendly staff. Highly recommend this place
(5)jim b.
Stopped in here again a year later, and noticed later on our Amex that they had changed my tip amount to a 37% tip. It wasn't an accident, as I always put in enough cents to bring it up to an even dollar amount, but their written in tip was a '.00' amount. Not cool. Check your credit card statements.
(1)Karen D.
Great food. Gelato was fab. Great service.
(5)Christina C.
Of course I would go to Yelp to find the best-of-the-best in Greenville when I'm in town! And again, without fail, it led me Luna Rosa where I had one of the most enjoyable and satisfying lunches of my recent memory. Paninis. Salads. Pizza. Coffee. Booze. And incredibly tempting and heavenly gelato. The goodness came at me from all angles. Quaint and comfortable, I felt relaxed and welcomed the second we stepped through the doors. The staff was eager to say hello and invited the fella and I to take seat wherever we liked. All of the tables had a single fresh flower in a small vase - a small, but impressive touch that need not go unnoticed. Greeted immediately with a friendly hello by our server, we ordered our drinks and heard the specials. The service continued to be on-point and over the top throughout our entire meal - complete with prompt refills of sweet tea and even a top-off of my can of orange flavored Pelligrino. The best part, though, was the three samples of gelato brought to our table from our awesome server! Each flavor seemed to be better than the last and we didn't even ask to try any! A nice and thoughtful touch indeed. Good for them their tactic worked and we indulged in a creamy and flavorful almond scoop before we left. I'm missing the most unexpected yet satisfying part of our visit though: THE FOOD! I tried the Monte Cristo (with a pepper jelly), while the fella had the special shaved beef panini, and it seriously was the BEST panini I've put in my pie hole! The bread wasn't too hard, the flavors all meshed so perfectly and the salad that accompanied the panini (with the balsamic dressing) was the side dish of my dreams. I can't say enough about how unexpectedly tasty our lunch was here! Live, work or visiting in Greenville? You need to make a stop here!
(5)Taylor A.
This place always warrants a stop when I'm heading from Atlanta to North Carolina. This time I had the Monte Cristo ($8) which was wonderfully crispy and sweet. My ladyfriend had the simple american cheese panini, but it had great flavors and well worth the $6.50. The gelato here is probably the best I've ever had. No, I've never been to Italy, but I don't think it can get much better. The owner/manager is very friendly and is why this review warrants 5 stars. I've talked to him a few times and he really runs a great shop. If you're ever in Greenville, I highly recommend this place for a meal and some gelato!
(5)Andrew H.
Everything was fantastic. The Salad with Blackened Shrimp, Beer/Cheddar Soup, Meatball Parm Panini, Monte Christo, and of course, the Gelato!
(5)Allison F.
Try the pumpkin gelato. It's really creamy and tastes like fall. Order the child's size; the servings are huge! Dropped a star due to the overwhelming amount of balsamic vinegar on my salad the other day which flooded the plate and (almost) drowned my meatball panino.
(4)Lauren G.
Great food, friendly and attentive service. As we were waiting for our food they brought us gelato samples (which were very good) 10/10 would recommend
(5)Greg W.
I'm basing this rating on the gelato itself, as that's all we had. I'm only giving it 3 stars because, as gelato, it was pretty run-of-the-mill; average. It wasn't any better or any worse than gelato I've had elsewhere. In fact, it had a weird aftertaste and my daughter - who has never given up a spoonful of gelato or ice cream in her life - didn't even want to finish hers. Keep in mind, if you order the large because the sign says you can select 3 flavors, when you ask for 3 the server will just roll her eyes, huff, and stare at you in disbelief until you downgrade to just 2... (I didn't let that have any bearing on my rating)
(3)A. H.
Since living in Venice, Italy, I have never found gelato more authentic than at Luna Rosa. I always choose a dairy free fruit variety, and they are scrumptious! My goddaughter always chooses chocolate. This place is our favorite!
(4)Darren H.
Came for the Gelato & stayed for the lunch, this is a nice little cafe & another example of the positive direction of growth that downtown Greenville is experiencing. Had lunch Saturday afternoon and outside of the slow service the food was very good & the outdoor seating was nice. The pizza oven was broken while I was there so that was a bummer since I hear they are known for there pizza.
(4)Tiffany J.
Fantastic service! There are just a handful of tables inside but when our party of 8 (plus a baby requiring a high chair) arrived, two of the guys jumped into action, not just combining two tables and bringing out the high chair, but literally raising up the pendant lights so we wouldn't hit our heads on them with the new seating arrangements, and offering a closet for us to stow our stroller while we dined. Our water glasses were refilled multiple times with perfect timing. The food was excellent - I had the tomato and eggplant bisque which was delicious and my companions had paninis and pizzas, which they said was also outstanding. Great experience!
(5)Julie R.
We stopped into this charming place for a late lunch on October 16, 2014. We were delighted from the moment we stepped inside. It is FAR more than just gelato. It's a full restaurant with delicious food, and fantastic service (really fantastic). We were greeted by a friendly guy, and then we sat down for lunch. If you order gelato, you order at a counter; but, for food, it is full table service. Our server was Rick. He was the BEST. He was very attentive and you could tell he really enjoys working here and believes in the place. He explained everything on the menu, and even made suggestions. I'm a vegetarian, so I had [what I call] a caprice sandwich. It was a grilled sandwich with mozzarella, tomato and basil, and came with a fresh salad with balsamic dressing - delicious. I even said go easy on the basil, and they accommodated that request. My friend had a soup and salad that she REALLY enjoyed - she said the soup was very tasty! But, NOW comes the best part. The gelato! I had the Lemon Cookie Crunch - OMG, so good. I tasted a couple flavors and there wasn't a bad one in the batch. Save room for gelato if you eat here - they are so colorful and beautiful and you see them as soon as you walk in. All of the gelato is made here. Exceptional. The place is super-clean and really cute inside. There is indoor or outdoor seating. There is street parking all over downtown Greenville (free, I think - I don't remember paying a meter) . Prices were reasonable. Do yourself a favor and step off Main Street and visit this place (it's just a few steps off Main). You will not be disappointed. Trust me.
(4)Rose S.
Stopped here each day on a recent trip. Delicious & service was great. Watermelon smoothie was quite tasty & saw a trick for a smoothy that I had never noticed which is to add Sprite. Came by the next AM & had a berry smoothie. Fabulous. Highly recommend this for both smoothies & gelato which is creamy & delectable.
(5)Furman L.
This is a great spot for gelato. Fresh and unique flavors. Open late! The process: 1) Pick out the size that you want (1 scoop, 2 scoops, etc) 2) Pay for that size 3) Taste as many flavors as you want. 4) Pick your favorite (or 2 if you get 2 scoops) 5) Enjoy! Minus one star for the minimal parking situation.
(4)Arleen B.
Fantastic service- Everyone in the place was friendly, helpful and just plain awesome. Plenty of options for my vegetarian daughter, my Monte Cristo tasted fabulous, and oh- the gelato is out of this world! I will definitely be back!
(5)Brandon D.
This is solely based on the 5 or so times I've had Gelato at this place, every time we come the kitchen is closed, I've been dying to try their food. Anyways, the Gelato is freakin' delicious! You choose you size in either a cone or cup, and they feel free to sample away at as many flavors as you want! You can taste the quality of ingredients. The service is outstanding also, I asked if I could have a big glass of water with my Gelato and they happily gave me one. Overall, a good place to go for some great gelato!
(5)Meg S.
This is a favorite downtown lunch place (especially if you're pressed for time but still want a full, hot meal). They have an excellent lunch menu; I stick with the sandwiches (the vegetarian ones), and they're all very good: it's hard to choose. Nothing is ever plain or bland, but it's not one of those places that overdresses things, either. There are also three side options included with the sandwich (one of which is a really delicious pasta salad), so there's plenty of room for variety. The servers are unfailingly fast and friendly. They're also knowledgable about the menu and quick to answer questions. The gelato is a real treat and hard to resist. Do be mindful, if you're getting for the first time and picking out what size cup you want, that they fill it quite full (very generous). You can taste flavors until you settle on one, so you won't end up regretting your choice. They seem to do some seasonal rotation, if I'm not mistaken: more lighter-tasting fruit flavors in warm months, more rich-type flavors in winter. At any rate, it's not the same selection every time you go in. It is fairly small inside, so seating is limited indoors. There's also outdoor seating, if you're okay with that. Always nice to stop in here for a lunch or just to pick up some gelato eat while wandering around downtown.
(5)Briit R.
Excellent made from scratch lunch Soup and panini of the day.
(4)April L.
Nothing to rant and rave about. I've never had bad service the handful of times I've been there for gelato. I'm no expert on what gelato is "suppose" to be, but the numerous flavors I've had have tasted good.
(3)Missy C.
This little places was fabulous! Went there with a small group for lunch. The tomato and eggplant bisque was extremely flavorful and delicious. I also ordered the Pizzanini which came with some good pizza sauce for dipping. The prices were great and the service was outstanding! Felt like a 5 star restaurant! You can also go just for the gelato, which taste like it was straight out of Europe.

LOVE! A cute, quiet and inviting atmosphere with delicious lunch and friendly and accommodating staff! I had the most relaxing and enjoyable lunch and my server was so friendly. Get the Capra salad and definitely try the gelato. A place you must go to for a perfect casual lunch!

Was wondering if this place has changed hands. The last couple of times we've been, the service has been indifferent to unfriendly - not the usual smiling faces and happy greeting when you walk in. They've done away with the rewards program, and my last gelato had a stale flavor. It's disappointing, but it encourages us to try other dessert places downtown.

A must have when visiting Greenville. A large selection of gelato and everything looked great. The staff was friendly and very helpful.i plan to visit this business every time I go to Greenville.

This place is awesome! I went here for a date and this place was way better than I expected. The staff is super nice. The panini I had for lunch was delicious. We wrapped up lunch with some of their gelato. There were 20 different flavors to choose from. I had the peanut butter cup gelato and it was spectacular! I am definitely recommending this place to my friends and will be back as often as I can.

Always enjoy the gelato; all the flavors are fabulous, I love that you can test them before choosing - but it's always a tough choice!

Great spot for lunch. Had one of the panini specials and it was awesome. Had to finish with some gelato of course.

Had lunch at Luna Rosa while visiting family in Greenville. Luna is rather small even with outdoor seating. We waited about 40 minutes, but it was worth it! Luna Rosa has about two dozen panini style sandwiches, several salads, a dozen pizzas, and a few pasta dishes. I started with a cup of spicy lentil soup with sausage, which was amazing. For my entree I ordered the capricola panini. It was served on perfectly crunchy italian bread, sliced thin and basted in a garlic oil. The ham was perfectly married with to provolone cheese and roasted red peppers. Finally, I had a small bowl of pasta salad; simple, yet tasty. I also sampled the amazing French Dip, with perfectly tender beef. My Aunt ordered a salad topped with blackened shrimp. The portion was huge! And of course, no meal at Luna Rosa would be complete without the Gellato. There are 20 or so flavors. I ended up with a great mix of banana foster and Nutella. A-maz-ing!!! Luna Rosa is a great place and highly recommended. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Just be warned, you may have to wait.

Located next to wild wing on Washington, you'll find some awfully good gelato... But that's about it. The service generally sucks, the soups and sandwiches are nothing special, and the prices are a tad on the high side. There's generally a groupon for the gelato, so if you've never been, that's probably the way to go.

This place rocks. Since we have been to Greenville we have been there 7 times. This ice creme is amazing. Seriously try it. I don't generally leave 5 stars unless I really think the place is worthy.

How do they do it?? Its a spoon full of heaven that i regularly indulge in... Make sure you try the pistachio if they have any left!

First things first, I love ice cream. I love gelato. I love custard. I love frozen yogurt. I'm addicted to it. At any given time, I could down a pint...or two. Visited on Memorial Day, after researching what local ice cream place my girlfriend and I would visit after dinner. I even ate less for my meal. We even said during our meal, "at least we can have some gelato soon!" We arrived to a worker not really wanting to be there and half a dozen choices missing. Aside from lemon, mango, and a spicy chocolate that some may like, but I'll keep my cajan pepper in my skillet meals for now. Disappointing experience. I don't like complaining, but really if you just have good ice cream - it's an auto 4 or 5 stars from me, but they didn't. I should have packed some Talenti - it's the only thing that can satisfy my cravings short of going to Italy.

This place wins a special place in my heart. Right in the "best panini i've eaten" spot! I got the monte cristo. And the prices are so good! The server...was beautiful and such a sweet heart! They also gave me tons of free samples of gelato while I waited for my sandwich to arrive. I seriously wanted to smash my face into some of the gelato bins, and let my self suffocate a cool delicious death. Here Here to death by gelato!!!

Only been here for the gelato, but if you want to imbibe in the Gville ice cream scene, I'd say this is your best bet. Rich, satisfying flavors and plenty to choose from. A bit on the pricey side.

This place has great food and awesome gelato! The staff is always really helpful. I wish they stayed open for food later!

I love the salads, so goood!

The large is the perfect amount to share. They have more flavors of gelato than a baskin robins would have ice cream. The biscotti and cookies and cream flavors are must tries. The espresso flavor is one of the strongest coffee products I have had and needs to be cut with the biscotti or cookies and cream. There were about 5-6 more flavors I wanted to try, but they were extremely busy and I didn't want to hold up the line. The service is some of the most efficient in handling a line and could be slightly more friendly/helpful. However, they make sure folks leave happy with a quick fix of great gelato.

This little cafe is awesome. I have never been disappointed in any of the menu items. Their sauce and soups are seasoned just right, not overly salty! The service is always friendly. Their pizzas are very tasty. Their gelato is the best in the city as well as having the biggest variety. The lime is my favorite...cool n refreshing!

Good gelato. Asked for a cone for a flavor and got a snarky look and comment...so didn't feel like asking again after attempting to correct my order. Hoping my experience with the service was the exception given the quality of the food.

Luna Rosa is run by a true Italian family and their hearts really shines threw on their products and their staff. Love it.

The best Italian food I have EVER had!!! I am in love with this place! You can taste the quality and love put in to their made from scratch menu with family recipes. Hopefully when you go you will be able to try the Wedding soup it is to die for!!! My favorite gelato is the Chocolate Velvet and the grapefruit Sorbetto is wonderfully refreshing if you wanted to go with out the creamy. I am making the three hour drive and coming back soon!

This place was set up just like an Italian gelato place. I want to go back and try the food and coffee. We just tried the gelato, but that was outstanding. I had the lemon and the birthday cake in a waffle come. My friend had the lemon and the lime. You can taste as many flavors as you wanted before committing. The staff was super nice and friendly and efficient. The gelato tasted JUST LIKE the gelato I recently had in Italy. Can't wait to go back :)

Seems very authentic to what you could get in Italy but was not big on the flavors as I prefer a fruity gelato as opposed to a sorbet. I wished they had pistachio, coconut, and banana. Also if you go here make sure you get the three scoop as the portions are small.

This was a cute place we noticed just walking around downtown. It's a little confusing when you first walk in. You pay first at the register, then order. My husband and I both ordered a small which was more than plenty. The service was great and I would visit again.

Okay, the gelato is a fun change of pace, but the people behind the counter were kind of grumpy. Not a welcoming atmosphere at all. When you come in, they just snap at you and tell you to go around the corner to pick your item size and pay. Then, when you roll around the counter to see what interests you they just kind of stand there and give you a few samples, if you ask. When you give you order, they make it and pass it to you over the counter. Then, get out of the way for the next person. It's not bad gelato, but certainly not a memorable experience.

Second visit and service was just as perfect as the last visit. Food is great! New favorite place in Greenville!

We came in here on a hot Friday night in August and surprisingly there was no line. The lady at the counter asked us if we had been there before and we said no. She kindly walked us through the process. There are many flavors to choose from at Luna Rosa (up to 30). There are some regular fruity flavors as well as flavors like Khalua and Baileys Irish Cream. The gelato itself is smooth and tasty. Luna Rosa is pretty much on par with Marble Slab as far as price goes. However I would definitely prefer the flavors of Luna Rosa over Marble Slab.

Luna Rosa's is awesome! We were served on a Tuesday afternoon at lunchtime. The wait staff was very kind and hospitable. Service was lightning quick and the food was delicious. My wife and I both had Paninis and my son had grilled cheese. I would definitely recommend trying the Sicilian Panini. We tasted the gelato as well. Fantastic. The atmosphere of this place is really cool as well. It is nestled just off of main street in downtown Greenville.
