Kinda slow, but all lamb, chicken, lassi and even deserts are pretty good. Nice place to sit and talk as its a quiet environment.

A great place for vegans/ vegetarians. The chick pea masala I got was delicious! It came in a good portion for only 8 dollars at lunch. I was very happy with it. It had a lot of flavor. My boyfriend got the tandoori chicken and was not expecting 3 chicken wings and then a sauce with it on the side to come out. He ate half of my order because the chicken alone wasn't very good. But the sauce that came with it was quite good. Give this place a try if you're on this side of town!

My favorite Indian restaurant in Greenville. Food is delicious and great for sharing in groups. Decent beer selection as well. Definitely better for dinner than lunch, because it can take a while for the food to come out.

There is a lot of value here with the quality, portions, ingredients. and enough variety that you won't get bored. Great for vegetarians.

There's a reason this is the worst rated Indian restaurant in Greenville. Went there for the lunch special. The all you can eat thali plate with a mix of vegetable and chicken curry's. Each item on my plate was a different temperature, ranging from cold to luke warm. None of it was fresh. I finished both of the chicken curry's and asked for more. They then preceded to bring out something that looked nothing like what was on my plate previously. Had to have been something of lesser quality for the people who ask for seconds. They also spread this thick white creamy sauce all over the naan, which I've never seen before. It was the worst naan I've ever had. I've eaten Indian food all over the country and this is definitely the worst! Don't make the mistake of going here!

I really like the quality of food here. We did takeout for a while at first, but them after dining in for several lunches and dinners, I can honestly say the atmosphere is only ok (its not horrible, just slower and impersonal) and the service isn't the best. When we want to eat out we actually go elsewhere (especially for a quick lunch). Still, it is tasty, authentically spiced and nicely presented food.

Iama Critic Rating - India Palace - 4 Stars 59 Liberty Lane, Greenville, SC Story Time: Every once in a while Chef Iama Critic looks for a place that is different, a unique place that even a buffet lover would enjoy, a place with unusual flavors and exotic smells that will satisfy our sense of adventure. So when he punched all that into Google, the result was the India Palace restaurant. The India Palace is a quaint, and on the day we went, a very quiet restaurant. So quiet that my overly load voice seemed rather rude, even to me. This I found to be rather unsettling and restrictive, but for the sake of the other guests I refrained from being my normal gregarious self. As always, I was prepared to leave the waiter 30%, and our waiter was attentive and explained the menu options well, which is very necessary as there is quite a selection of items that we had no clue what they actually consisted of. Yet, the service we received never really excelled in any way, so we left a rather normal 18%. The food however is another story; the India Palace served some of the most excellent Indian food I have ever had. We ordered numerous items and we enjoyed everything we ordered. Unfortunately, I did not bring my camera on this particular visit, which is extremely rare, so I can't remember nor spell the items we ordered. We ordered a bread tray that included many flat breads with numerous unique textures and flavors, several meat entrees and two appetizers. If I have any gripe, or concerns with the India Palace Restaurant, it is that the menu is by no means a value menu. All the appetizers and entrees we ordered were meager for the price paid. Normally this would radically influence my rating of a restaurant; however every entree was exceptional and deserving of merit, so the price, although high, was bearable. So, all in all, I think everyone should try this restaurant at least once, especially if you like curry, if for no other reason than to be able to say you have experienced decent Indian cuisine in the Upstate.

I m really surprised there are so many negative reviews. Its probably because meat lovers dont like it but this place is paradise for vegetarians. I had chilli paneer and chole batura here and it was as good as i anything ever had. Give this place a chance. You might just love it !! Cheers to the chef.

It really hurts my heart to give two stars because I have eaten here for years and love the food. Over the course of the last 6 months or so the service has progressively gotten worse. Not only do we sit for 10-20 before we are even served water, but I never get my soup for some reason. I like 1/2 & 1/2 tea (even explained it to them) & they have never seemed to be able to get it right. On top of that I noticed that they added a gratuity to a 3 top table. I have made excuses for them for quite a while now because I love the food & the owner is very nice but I don't think I will be returning.

Nomnomnom...I ordered 2 veggie dished to accompany Indian spiced chicken that I prepared myself. Oh my. Spinach with chickpeas so dang yummy. Naan- mmmm. I have to say the $28 for 2 vegetables dishes and 2 naans was pricy, but wow was it good.

This place is very very good. Very close to 5 star. Service: First off the service was great. They really apply the team effort mentality. The only real complaint is that a few times one person would help us and another would come along and try to do the same thing after the had left to do it. So a minor lack of communication but better than no service. Food: If you like Indian food then you will love it. They have an extensive menu with something for everyone. We got the Indian staple Tandoori chicken and also the butter chicken. They were both spot on. We also ordered from the large bread menu. I dont recall the name of mine but it had potato and herbs. It was great. They bake it fresh to order. My wife got the cheese naan and it was freaking amazing. Buttery and filled with cream cheese. All in all this place is great. If you are new to Indian food then I suggest trying Saffrons buffet, but once you know you like Indian head to pleasentburg rd and get some deliciousness.

Although India Palace is not my favorite Indian restaurant in Greenville, it does have several advantages over the competition. The boti kabab (basically tandoori lamb) is just about as good as food could ever hope to be. My father-in-law had it a few months ago, and hasn't stopped raving about it. (That says as much about the lamb as it does about my father-in-law.) I also prefer their mango lassi (which is a must-have for those who are new to Indian cuisine) to those of other restaurants. I chose India Palace to host my graduation celebration with my family because it is quiet and never crowded. I am rating it as a four because they do have some disappointing dishes (chilli chicken, for example) that don't belong on the same menu as enlightened offerings like the shrimp Goan curry.

Tried to stop in for lunch today, but couldn't get service. Waited ten minutes to get water, one of which was in a dirty glass, and then ...nothing. After 25 minutes, we left. When we left, there were at least two other tables waiting to order, and no servers in sight.

Best Indian food in Greenville. Service is great as well. Recommend the chicken saag and cheese naan. One downside is that they don't always use all-white meat chicken, but it's still amazing. I live in Charleston but i always stop here whenever I'm in town!

Went here for lunch today. It took 10 minutes for us to get a glass of water. After a total of 25 minutes nobody had even come around to get our order yet. WE LEFT! Service here has been declining steadily and this experience sealed the deal. I'll never go back!

We have been eating at this restaurant for 20 years, even back when they were in Spartanburg before they moved to Greenville. The owner Narish is always friendly and greets us with a smile. I know this sounds really biased, and it probably is, but I have never found another Indian restaurant as good as this one. We live an hour away so anytime we make it out to Greenville, this is where we go. I have tried other Indian restaurants in the area, even in Charlotte, and none compare to this one. The atmosphere is low key, casual, and relaxing. Yet it is nicely decorated and makes a great place for date night. The foods are very rich and flavorful. I have never had any bland food here. Mild maybe, but not bland. Their iced sweet tea is spiced, not spicy, with just enough spice to make it different than regular sweet tea, yet complementary to their food. I always go for the Vegetarian Platter for the appetizer. The tamarind sauce goes very well with everthing on the platter. I like to order the chicken korma with a side of poori bread. The korma is so rich and creamy! I mix it with the rice then use pieces of the poori bread to scoop it up and eat it. Yes I eat this with my hands. It's how you are supposed to eat this dish. If you don't want a fried bread, try the naan but the poori adds a little extra flavor to the korma. The kulfi badam pista is what I always get for dessert. My husband likes the Ras Malai. I prefer the kulfi because it's like a sweet, creamy ice cream with crushed pistachio. If you like a good mango lassi, try the Som Ras. It's a little thicker, more like a milkshake, and I think, tastes better. I suggest you try this place more than once at different times of the day on different days. I have never had a bad meal here but some may be bothered by the busy waitstaff at times. If I could say anything bad about it, it would be that the main dish comes out too quickly! Wait to order your lunch/dinner after the appetizer comes out or you'll be stuck trying to eat both at the same time. Others have mentioned the lunch portion size. You probably won't have any leftovers if you order lunch. It's usually the perfect size to fill you up yet not overstuff yourself. Since it's smaller, it costs less, so if you want to try a variety of things I suggest going for lunch.

I was visiting BJU with my girlfriend and decided to try this place. She had never had Indian before and I love Indian so I figured it would be a good experience for her and I was not disappointed by IPR. We walked in and were greeted right away and taken to our table. We ordered some veggie samosas which came out quickly and were delicious she really enjoyed them. We ordered off the lunch menu since we weren't terribly hungry and she got the chicken korma and I got the lamb korma along with some onion naan and plain naan bread. Food came out a little fast but better than taking too long right!? Lamb was cooked and seasoned beautifully and seemed to simply fall apart in your mouth. The rice was tender but not mushy and the naan bread was out of this world! They gave you a ton of food with the lunch option and at a fair price. The dinning room was quiet and we enjoyed a lovely conversation over lunch. The servers were great at keeping our water refilled, clearing plates, and making sure we were taken care of! After lunch we did gulab jamun for dessert and it was so tasty and hot just the way I like it, we also ordered a mango lassi which was again delicious like everything else. My over all consensus was if you like Indian food, a quiet atmosphere, and fair prices IPR is the place for you. If I am ever in Greenville again I will definitely dine here. On a side not I have eaten at dozens of Indian restaurants in PA/NJ and this was at the top of the list at only a fraction of the cost!

Not bad...not great. I've only ever had the vegetarian entrees here, so I can't comment on the meat dishes, but in my opinion the food here is lacking that depth of flavor that makes good Indian food so darn tasty. Everything I've had here is just a bit bland. Service here is always prompt and courteous. Oh, and if you flip to the Children's Menu on the second to last page of the menu, you will see what may be the nutritionally worst kid's menu item I've ever seen..."French Fries with a side of Basmati Rice". Perhaps this is their idea of vegetarian for kids?

Delicious Indian food. Very enjoyable. They give you a generous portions of food at a fair price. I do have to admit that the service here has been declining steadily since I started frequenting this restaurant. (Sadly.) I placed a take out order and was not greeted at the check-out for over 20 mins and then it took another 30 mins for my order. Yes, I did call it in in advance. But will I stop going? Never!

I love india palace. The staff can come off as a little stand offish, but they're actually really funny and will do anything they can to make sure you get what you want. My favorites here are the chicken saag (although I would really like it if they started using all white meat chicken), the cheese naan, the spiced iced tea, and the butter chicken. Their soups are really good too.

I'm not an expert in Indian Cuisine and I usually avoid it completely since I absolutely dislike coriander, red ginger and another spice I don't the name of but which is found is almost every dishsothanks to the persuasive skills of my friends I ended up eating at the India Palace anyways and I'm grateful for the experience! Actually I'm thrilled! From the outside it looks drab'n dreary, just another one-story building with a huge parking lot near the main street. But inside it is surprisingly nice and comfortable with carefully chosen furniture, rugs and decorations, sweet Indian sounds and a lovely scent of spices. I asked the cheerful and courteous waiter for advice and got recommendations for a variety of meat and vegetarian dishes without coriander. Lucky me! I especially loved the spinach and the lamb, as well as the desserts. Everything was freshly made, the meat was very tender. The mango lassi here must have been best I had in years. I highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner, with friends, family or business partners!

What a struggle it is to find Indian food here in the Upstate. There's actually a place in Spartanburg that's pretty good, but that's about 25 minutes away (depending on where you are). I must echo most of the comments here. Food is nothing to write home about, and the servers need to learn about "southern hospitality." But as far as Indian food in the area, it's between here and 1 or 2 other places I think. Seek out those other places.

Food is very good. We get a lot of the chicken dishes (curry, vindaloo), and it's always super tender. I'm a papadam fan and love theirs. You have to just get over the indifferent service. Think eating in NYC and not SC. Really reasonable prices too.

I have to disagree with a lot that was said here...I love everything from the mango chutney to the spinach paratha and everything in between. Greenville is lacking as far as Indian food is concerned, but for the price, India Palace is one of my staples in this town. The employees are very nice, and the place is very nice inside. My first dish ever here was wayyyyy too spicy for my standards (beware the chili pepper on the menu!) but Ive gotten better at tolerating some spice.
(4)
Shelley B.
The first timeI went here, I was a bit disappointed since my dish was not near spicy enough (despite requesting extra spicy), but the second time I went they did it up right. Quite tasty, solid Indian dishes. Nothing out of this world, but really tasty homey Indian cuisine. Great bread and pepper chutney. Try the chicken Vindaloo and the naan bread.

India is the birth place of Chicken Tikka Masala and Curries. Indian foods are prepared with a blend of finely mixed spices quite popular across the region. The spices develop the rich taste in Indian food enough to boggle your mind. The ever-increasing fan base of Indian food around the New York city is steadily increasing because of the large number of Indians who traveled to the land of dreams. The Indians also brought their very own vibrant, colorful, and aromatic authentic dishes for the people in the West. While most of the Indian population is Vegetarian, Indian food is great for people who are looking for vegan or vegetarian food option. If you are a Meat lover, don't get disappointed yet. Indian food also boasts of some popular non-vegetarian dishes too. Few examples are the famous Butter Chicken, Mutton Biryani and Tandoori Chicken are enough to satisfy your taste buds.
Indian food has gained reputation all over the world especially in the United States. You can find many places serving the appetizing Indian food across all major cities in the US. India is a diverse country with different food culture originated from different parts of the country. While the Northern region boasts tandoori dishes and korma offering royal taste, the Western Ghats offers sea foods that is made in naturally sweet tender coconut milk. The South Indian food servers a quality of different dishes made from rice accompanied with spicy chutneys, curries and famous sambhar. Also, the Indian sweets are a delight to relish. If you ever want to have a burst of sugar syrup in mouth, don't forget to try few Bengali Sweets. Be it spicy, tangy, or sweet flavor, you can find everything in the Indian cuisine. Be assured that the melody of spices will surely bring delight to you.

The place seems unassuming and you're also likely to miss it. But please don't miss this place. The wait staff is incredibly friendly and the food is incredibly delicious. I am going to make this a regular stop.

Eh... ok. Not worth a long drive. Service was awful; food was OK. Prices were competitive.
