Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

I've been here only 3-4 times. I always order the tacos. It's just a run-of-the-mill American Mexican restaurant. Good, cheap, fast service. If you're into this sort of thing, give this place a shot. But I would suggest Monterrey's on Poinsett. The manager, Eric, is completely awesome. And makes the best cocktails. As in, "I was inspired to make this super-fancy looking cocktail after I watched the Bartending Championships on TV." Yeah, that awesome.

So here's the thing... even though I gave this place 3 stars... I go like 1-2x a month. Food is alright, beer is cheap, and the staff is nice. There are always a lot of people there so I guess others feel the same as me.

There are a lot, and I mean a lot, of Mexican restaurants in Greenville...so I set the bar high when it comes to Mexican food here. Even if I narrow it down to "Mexican restaurants within a 2 mile radius of Corona", there is still plenty of worthy competition. Although the food and service here were acceptable, nothing about my dining experience stood out as worthy of mention. Next time I'm craving Mexican, I will either try someplace new, or go back to one of my favorite places...and Corona will not be on that list.

Always friendly. Food always delicious. Kids eat inexpensively. I eat there two to three times a month.

Iama Critic Rating - Corona Mexican Restaurant - 3 Stars 2112 Wade Hampton Boulevard, Greenville, SC Overall: Vastly superior to Corona on West Feris Road on the west side of Greenville. And a couple of items were outstanding, especially when mixed. But it still suffers with the burden of the same old boring bland beans and rice! Table Chips and Salsa - 3 Stars The table chips and mild salsa were as average as they come. We have had them a thousand times. The hot salsa had very good flavor but still desperately yearned to be chunky! $6.99 - Large Guacamole - 4 Stars This guacamole was not made fresh at the table, but it was a decent size portion and had a very good flavor. $10.99 - Steak Fajitas - 3 Stars My guest critic is a fajita master! This dude has eaten more fajitas than most Mexicans will in a lifetime! However, despite the fajitas arriving hot and looking decent, my fajita pro guest critic thought them about average overall despite the good price. Sides for Fajita's - 3 Stars Same average boring beans and rice you have a thousand times, but the tiny taco shell salad was a nice touch. $6.49 - Huevos Con Chorizo - 3 Stars Fabulous tasting but meager portion of eggs and sausage, and more of those boring, average beans and rice. $6.89 - Mariquita Special - 4 Stars This thing was HUGE!!!! It easily spanned the entire width of my 12" oval plate. It was filled with excellent strips of steak and all the condiments you would expect in a Mexican taco salad. It also did not have too much lettuce which is all too common. However I decided to try something. I added my entire $6.49 Huevos Con Chorizo entree to this huge salad and made it a $13.50 Monster Salad. After adding all the flavor from the Huevos Con Chorizo to my Mariquita Special it was just phenomenal! Five Star flavor but at a huge price. But this Combo Salad was the best thing I have tasted at a Mexican restaurant in quite a while.

First time and it was really good! Pretty affordable prices, the boss kept coming over and making sure we had what we needed, the food was great. My ONLY complaint is that it took literally 25 minutes for a refill, but it's understandable because they were really busy.

Ordered a burrito to go and it came with all of the filling at the bottom of the takeout box and a tortilla thrown on top. Steak for burrito is extremely salty and tough. Pico de gallo is terrible and taste soggy. Way over priced for what I ordered- California burrito. I would strongly not suggest. I agree with the other reviewer- this place is comparable (maybe even worse) to Taco Bell. Being a Hispanic out of Los Angeles, I am extremely disappointed with the Mexican food Greenville has to offer.

Staff was nice, the restaurant could use an update. Chicken was not properly cooked, I got sick. I always advise people at any mexican restaurant not to eat the chips they bring out first. Nine times out of ten they are re-used chips. What people dont eat is put back in a warmer.

To preface this, I know my mexican food, I'm a Californian-Mexican who can cook. Grew up on mi abuelitas food and going to good hole in the walls. Greenville is a sad, sad town when it comes to mexican food and they don't even know it. Unfortunately almost all of greenville's mexican food suffers from "taco-bell-syndrome" and this place is no exception. You ask, what is "taco-bell-syndrome"? two words, ground beef. Who ever heard of a ground beef enchillada? unfortunately almost everthing you get is ground beef. Forget about cane asda, carnitas, chile verde, tripas, etc. you get ground beef or processed cheese (don't even get me started on the mexican velvetta that these places use. Drive to hendersonville NC and go to Papas and Beer. It's the only place I give an A to in the area. (B ratings go to El sureno in Powdersville and El Molcahete in Greenville)

Love this restaurant!!! Cheap & awesome Mexican food! The service here is always super friendly & they actually remember who you are! They also do take-out. I like to go by on nights that I just want a light dinner. The turn around time for my take-out has always been less than 10 minutes! Awesome!

had take out when i came into town and it was ready in 5 minutes! food portions are big, prices are good, and food tastes authentic enough to pass as mexican!

I'm not the biggest fan of mexican food but Corona's still has some awesome menu selections I enjoy while keeping the price at low cost. Make sure you go on Tuesday nights at least once to experience the live mariachi band!
