I've been fortunate to have traveled all over the U.S. and the world, so when I say that The Clock has the best chili-cheeseburgers in the world, I consider myself an authoritative source. There are many Clock Drive In's around the South Carolina Upstate area and I've eaten at several of them with the same remarkable satisfaction. I like to add a little slaw to my burger to give it an added bang; but it's not needed as the flavor is awesome as is. Many of the Clock restaurants have been around for decades so don't expect a 5-star atmosphere, but if it's a great burger or hot dog you want, then this is the place to go. I make it a priority to visit the Clock Drive In anytime I'm in the area. You won't be disappointed.

Using yelp as my guide, I like to try new places as I travel 3 states. I made a u turn based on the other reviews and I am sorely disappointed. I tried the chili cheeseburger. They forgot the cheese ( how do you ck that at the drive in window?) and I opted for onion rings for .99 xtra over the fries. A big mistake. The onion rings were awful. But then again no one beats the Varsity in metro Atlanta for rings. Oh well!

The orginal Clock driv e-In has been a very famous Greenville landmark for over 60 years! Countless numbers of Greenville kids grew up cruisin` the place on the weekends! Their food is very taste. I think that they have some of the best cheeseburgers in the area!

I finally decided on a 3.5-star score for the original Clock Drive-In location. However, for my official rating I am rounding my personal score up to 4 stars; even though this is not my favorite general style of eatery, they have been doing what they are doing forever and have certainly won patrons over with it. Clock is super convenient for my coworkers and I when we head to Greenville for our regional sales meetings. We generally make it up here right around lunchtime, which seems to see create a pretty busy Clock, and both times that we have been we have been lucky to find sufficient parking and available seating to suit whatever size group we come with. Even for those who are not drawn-in by the allure of the old-shool, small-town, greasy-spoon diner, there is bound to be something on Clock's gigantic menu that will fill you up. Though I know it is not a staple for this sort of spot, I have ordered the Greek salad twice in the past two months and, to be honest, it really is not bad for a southern roadside drive-in. Does it resemble anything you would see in the Mediterranean? Not one bit! But if that is what you expect to get when ordering this salad, you are in the wrong place. I have learned to ask for feta cheese and house-made Greek dressing on the side, as it is generously loaded on otherwise, and for those who are not trying to eat light before sitting in a meeting room for hours they offer various meat-tastic enhancements and other protein-crowned salads. I have seen my coworkers order massive cheeseburger plates that come with fries, coleslaw and sodas and one that got their combo with a fried fish sandwich instead. The burgers look pretty typical, if larger, than your general drive-in stack but the fish sandwich did not seem to arouse the same excitement as its beef-based counterpart. Clock's fries looked like the crinkle-cut, pre-frozen kind and are served piping hot and crispy with salt and pepper awaiting on each table. There is a large single-portion cup of thinly-sliced, traditional coleslaw with each sandwich plate as well; this never seems to be eaten, much less finished, by my companions. Sandwiches, burgers, hotdogs and sides all seems to be priced very low for the quantity that you get but I wish that I did not have to pay as much for a salad of iceberg lettuce and so many pre-packaged ingredients. The Clock's team seems pretty quick and efficient for such a busy little restaurant at lunchtime and our meals have always been out to our table in a timely manner and looked pretty made-to-order. It seems like the primary thing we have not been able to come to peach regarding is my coffee. Of the two times that I have eaten here, both times I ordered coffee (seeing coffee in the coffee pot) and both times I have not gotten any until mere minutes before leaving to head to our meeting. I guess that they have brewed a huge new pot each time I have ordered it, but in the future I wish they would let me know this so that I could opt for a more immediate beverage that I can enjoy with my meal. Please don't get me wrong, I appreciate the attention to quality and having fresh coffee! It's just that next time I would prefer to spare them, and myself, the trouble and opt for Diet Coke instead. Believe you me, I'll be back to Clock within the next month and a half or so to satiate my coworker's pre-meeting cheeseburger craving, but I'll definitely be a little smarter with my ordering.

I heard good things about this place so I recently tried it out. I love the size of the fries and the onion rings but they lacked flavor. My son ordered Mac n cheese and we Had the same problem, no flavor. It be pretty great if they added some vegan or vegetarian options as well. Overall this place is good just a little lack luster in flavor.
