Augusta grill is a sophisticated restaurant in a little shopping center south of downtown Greenville SC. From the outside, you wouldn't expect to find a fancified restaurant, but it's a bit more than your go-to restaurant. I went with a group of 7 ladies for a birthday, and they graciously reserved our table. The restaurant has good ambiance- it's fancy, but not too fancy. I enjoyed the atmosphere. Our server was very kind and knowledgeable about the wine menu. They serve warm bread with homemade butter and a side of olives, which was very nice. I ordered the roasted pepper chicken fettucini, which was extremely rich and tasty. Sara ordered a pecan-crusted trout (I believe it was trout) and she said it was excellent. The culinary influence in each dish is tailored to ensure you enjoy each bite of your meal. Of course, this isn't cheap- I believe entrees are ~$18-35. All in all, this is a good place to go for great service and good food, but it's a bit pricey. I'd come back here for special occasions!

Iama Critic Rating - Augusta Grill - 4 Stars 1818 Augusta Street, Greenville, SC Overall: Chef Iama Critic and 5 Star Restaurant Reviews believes it is always a risky venture going to upper scale (and we mean higher priced) restaurants like the Augusta Grill, because they rarely provide an experience that is commensurate with their cost. Recently we correctly gave Rick Erwins only two stars for one of the worst dining experiences we ever had for over $50.00 per person. But our trip to Augusta Grill resulted in us making them our new fine dining choice in Greenville, SC for two reasons. First, without regard to price, their food is exceptional and everything we sampled was perfectly cooked and well presented. Second, when you do consider price, you still leave with an experience that you would not mind having again. At least after your bank account has recovered for a bit. As always our below ratings take into account the item cost in comparison to comparative items available locally. The Service - 4 Stars (15%, using our high end restaurant scale) Normally we provide 20% for 5 star service, 18% for 4, 15% for 3, 12% for 2 and 0% for 1 star service. However, at higher price restaurants, I reduce the percentage scale one level because I do not feel comfortable paying wait staff more per hour than my own guests make. The Food: Table Bread - 4 Stars It doesn't get much better than this crusty bread, butter and fabulous olives. The entrees at Augusta Grill are by no means large. So unless you order more than one entree per person like we did, wise "value diners" will make the most of this wonderful bread. However, ask for some olive oil and course ground black pepper to go with your bread. $16.50 - Seared Sashimi Tuna - 4 Stars Utterly perfect tuna and tantalizing condiments. The flavor is just phenomenal. The only reason this appetizer is not five stars is because I can get more of the same fabulous tuna on an incredible salad elsewhere for less. $18.50 - Soft Crab - 3 Stars The crab was cooked to perfection, however, when I ordered, I was told it would be a jumbo crab. But this crab is clearly no larger than a hotel crab. The sauce however was wonderful. The same could not be said for the pointless greens, unless you like salads made of nothing but greens. Soft shell crab sizes. "Hotel" size crabs are 4-4 1/2" and average 2.5oz "Jumbo" size crabs are 5-5 1/2" and average 4.5oz $26.00 - Half Rack Ribs - 3 stars Great ribs, perfectly cooked with great flavor, but this is Upstate SC, there are perfect ribs available for much less. But if you disregard price, we are talking five star perfection. $18.50 - Chicken Pasta - 2 Stars This small entree suffers severely from sticker shock. It is fabulous, but chicken and pasta are cheap. If you can ignore the price, and concentrate on the flavor, then you can add two stars. $27.00 - Swordfish - 4 Stars Another perfect piece of meat and a great presentation. But why white rice with this small but magnificent piece of swordfish? It is a unnecessarily boring addition that brings shame to the magnificent fish. $7.00 - Parfait - 5 Stars Perfect presentation, perfect desert. Total Bill: $153.11 for two people with tip, which is likely much more than you will spend. Final Thoughts: If you are like me you occasionally want to enjoy a fine dinning experience. And I completely understand your trepidation concerning the higher prices that come with it. Yet I feel quite comfortable in recommending the Augusta Grill when the need arises for dinning perfection. You will be quite pleased, especially if you set aside your monetary concerns for an evening.

Augusta Grill... set back from Augusta Road so you're more likely to drive right by it as to stop... if you DO NOT KNOW just what lies inside! Lucky are those whose FRIENDS tell the secret about this restaurant! Behind the plain yellow-brick front in a small strip shopping center along Augusta Road a few miles south of downtown Greenville is a consistently good fine-dining experience that locals enjoy regularly! This review is way past due... we went to AG back in March 2014 during the Greenville Small Plates Crawl. AG was a participating restaurant in the event. Once inside it is apparent that the restaurant is very clean and nicely decorated for a quality dining venue. I recommend for 5-6 who want to share the best location in the restaurant to converse during dinner... ASK for the buddy booth (if available) toward the front of the dining area: a round table with 3/4 banquette seating that is just a bit more intimate & private. Our party of five... two couples and a local school teacher (who is a former student of one of the ladies in our party) shared a wonderful evening gathered together here. The crusty bread & olives were a tasty indulgent way to begin our meal. The Caesar salad is about as fine as any to be found anywhere. Paired with a grilled skirt steak it made for a good filling meal for me... which left enough room for the Blackberry Cobbler! Do not miss out on the cobbler! Curtis, the owner, visited with us at our table and checked back several times during our meal... he said the Blackberry Cobbler is a signature dessert served year round at Augusta Grill, and it will bring back fond memories for some of us who used to go out and pick wild blackberries for Mom's/Grandma's cobbler! I can say that there may be blackberry cobblers somewhere as good as AG, but NONE better! Several different entrees were ordered by our party... the strip steak, scallops, and grilled tuna were all deemed to be excellent! Another point about AG is that SERVICE is a priority there... Curtis makes a point to greet all his guests and verify that the wait staff are doing an excellent job! ALL of the wait staff are attentive, cheerful, knowledgeable, and seem to sincerely desire making your dining at AG a memorable experience. I envy the folks in Greenville having AG just a few minutes from downtown.

We ordered the rainbow trout, flank steak, and bread crumb pudding. The dishes were good to excellent, especially the steak. I would have preferred the bread pudding to be less mushy. Service was maybe too good at times meaning over board. My only real criticism, preventing me from going to 5 stars, is the food is not innovative. People want that wow factor.

We love this local spot. My wife and I frequent often as it is walking distance from our house. Service: great, never had a complaint. Knowledgeable and attentive. Food: Super. They have an ever changing menu and that guarantees to have something for everyone. They have large and small plates. Steaks are very good. I always like the duck no matter which sauce they pair up with it. The choices are always pretty standard. They won't blow you away with modern menu choices but what they do b they do well. Bar: great bar menu. Being a bourbon man, I am always happy they have my favorite eagle rare 10yr ready to go. Great selections and a chill dark environment. This place definitely deserves a shot. Small plates are enough for dinner as long as you are not expecting to loosen the belt.

Excellent food and service could not have been better. Management was very attentive. All sauces on menu can be mixed with any entree. I had strip steak and is was well prepared and excellent. Wife had mahi mahi. It was also well prepared with a great sauce. Each dish came with sides that were excellent. Apple cake for desert. Yum.

Terrific service, the staff really makes a huge effort to accommodate their guests! The bartender and server we had were both great! The decor is kind of plain. The food is good but not really high end. Basic stuff not really anything special. Over priced for me.

This is one of the best restaurants in Greenville, SC. Expensive but so worth it. The entire staff is well dressed, well trained, knowledgable about the food on the menu and most of all friendly. Ask for CHAD if you dine there. You'll be taken care of from the moment he comes to take your order until you leave. He knows his menu items. I had the Mahi Mahi and it was perfectly cooked and delicious. My friend had the NY strip and he said it was great. Best part was the Blackberry Cobbler. That is a must. Both owners came around to ask us if we were taken care of. Great place, great food, great service !!!

First time visitor to Augusta Grill and the only disappointment for me was that I waited this long to try it out. Curtis and the team are exceptional hosts. We had sear tuna which was perfect - the best I have had in Greenville and the wild mushroom ravioli, which melts in your mouth. It was a lively fun crowd on a Saturday night. If you need a break from downtown, AG is worth a visit.

Love AG and the July 4th week is new for this place as it usually closes and we miss Buddy tonight. Service is crap tonight as the waiter with the tattoo behind his ear is just not even showing up. Food is OK but certainly not the typical "all good" experience that we've become accustomed too over the many years. Come back Buddy!!

This is a locally owned upscale restaurant that has the friendliest staff and amazing customer service. They have been in business for over 20 years and it shows. Filled with regulars and an inviting atmosphere, Augusta Grill would be a great date place to take that special someone. Absolutely try the New York steak and say high to Curtis.

A perfect example of ordinary food under the guise of fine dining. The menu sounds sophisticated and gourmet, yet what I actually consumed could easily have been served at a Piccadilly cafeteria. The appetizer of baked cheese grits with chicken apple sausage was tasty yet something about it seemed very thrown together. I probably could have bought some diced Hillshire Farm polska kielbasa, packed some Aunt Jemima quick grits into a muffin tin, put it all in the oven for 10 minutes and ended up with the same thing. For my main meal, I ordered the pork chop which turned out to be so thick and tough that I really had to utilize the strength of my entire upper body to cut off each bite sized piece. Repeating this exercise was so laborious I simply gave up about a quarter of the way through. Some sort of squash souffle, a giant heap of garlic mashed potatoes, and a side of green beans rounded out the meal, all of which were very run-of-the-mill and borderline bland. Also--either the portion sizes were too large or the plate was way too small, but something didn't seem to add up. Augusta Grill fares well, however, most likely due to the loyal customers who live down the street. A good place to go for an edible meal without any frills. My tip: if you lower your expectations before you arrive, you might really like it.

I believe Allison just picked some poor choices. AG is consistently good with some choices great. The Crab Cake on Wednesday is super. The small plates are usually excellent and good value. The menu changes often enough that you can depend on a little variety. Yes it is a local favorite because you can count on good food, service and value. Individual preferences and requests are honored. I'm like "Mikey". Try it and you will like it
