Just lovely. I had the lunch special and a red eye with brown sugar and cream. Lovely staff. Soothing atmosphere. Lots of art, pottery, and jewelry all around the store. Worth the trip even coming off I-95.

Neat little eclectic coffee shop. Though they have a limited supply of food items what they have is good. The music was at the right volume to promote a relaxing atmosphere. While there we enjoyed chatting with the locals. I would definitely go back.

Reason enough to go to Florence, SC! It's a nice city, but this place makes it a destination. I get tired of bad coffee, substandard fare, poor atmosphere, and this has the best of all three. Fabulous coffee, delicious food, great atmosphere!. Go. Go now.

My husband and I love supporting local business and are especially excited when they deliver like Clay Pot! They use organic and locally sourced products, have a great atmosphere, put on cool events and the coffee is really good! Especially the mocha . I haven't been as thrilled with the food which is why I gave only 4 out of 5 stars. But overall I highly recommend. Definitely Better than waiting in the interminably long line at Starbucks!

We went out of our way to visit this local coffee shop a couple miles from our hotel, intentionally to avoid the big chain coffee places dotting the highway thru Florence SC. A cozy spot with an artsy atmosphere, great reuse of an old-main-street-Americana type of building, and actual art classes where the place earns its name. While we honestly found the coffee to be disappointing, we liked the place, the service, the selection, and the fact that the owner offered to warm up our generous chocolate chip cookie - how a cookie should be. Wouldn't judge the coffee on our one time, perhaps it was off or just not to our tastes, but we would try it again when in the area. They are doing everything else right in terms of local, unique flavors and atmosphere.

Fun little coffee shop like they used to be before Dunkin took over and started main streaming... Wifi, good coffee, great little treats and fun to watch PPl pass by the windows.

Great coffee and local products are used!

Had the chicken salad sandwich and the BLT. Local sourced ingredients. The potato soup and the French onion soup were beyond amazing.... Not salty canned soup. The staff was friendly and expedient. The atmosphere was pleasant with jazz music. We were just passing through Florence so this was a great place to get a quick sense of character from this city.

Cute, artsy café that reminded me of back home on Long Island. However, service was extremely slow. I ordered a bagel with cream cheese and latte and the owner's daughter, although very friendly, seemed overwhelmed and confused. If this place learns to hustle a bit more, it would truly be a gem in Florence.

This place rocks! Had planned to go to the Thai restaurant next door but they were closed for an emergency. Our disappointment turned into a wonderful experience! We were hungry so went next door to the Clay Pot as we saw they were serving lunch. It was a bit confusing, though, as we knew what the daily special was but couldn't figure out what the rest of the food options were. Five minutes later we finally understood that there are no other options. There is truly only one food choice besides dessert. When we went it was a grilled chicken wrap which was unique and delicious with a side of bean salad and chips. Bean salad? ugh, i thought. Nope, it was DELISH...maybe even better than the wrap..I couldn't decide as both were awesome. SO had to try one of the desserts since the wrap was so good. Dessert was declared to be 'heaven' and worthy of the calories and cost. FYI we learned that they change the food special daily. To learn what is available, go to their Facebook page. They post a new menu every Sunday. Run, don't walk, to this wonderful place!

Love the atmosphere! Their coffee is delicious! My favorite is the white chocolate latte made with almond milk! Their tomato pie is also very scrumptious!

Turns lunch into a experience in eating local and well. Just order your drink and take the lunch special of the day, and you'll be in for a treat! A very nice addition to the effort going into developing an attractive and vibrant downtown. Be sure to take in the photo/painting gallery behind the kitchen. Loved it all... Thanks

I give it 4 stars because the coffee itself wasn't great. Not a lot of flavor for a latte but it wasn't undrinkable. The atmosphere though was great! It was an eclectic mix of tables and mugs and it felt very hip yet comfortable. The service was great and it turned into an awesome place to study for the afternoon

I passed by Florence on my way to Florida. I stopped on Tuesday morning at the clay pot cafe and I was really happy for taking the time. Coffee is great. Service is superve. Fun and very nice. I recommend it!

A very cool and delicious place to linger with friends in the mornings and over lunch in Florence's historic district. Our large party descended with small children and between baked goods, the lunch of the day (a tomato pie that even non-tomato lovers loved), locally roasted coffee, tea, and a chess set, we managed to enjoy a long conversation. The artwork and decor alone are worth a visit.

This place is wonderful! I've only been there on one time, but will certainly return. The latte was delicious as was my dessert. The staff is super friendly and the courtyard is beautiful at night. I get menu updates via Facebook and the food sounds great. I can't wait to return for lunch one day.

One of the best restaurants in town. A unique gem with fresh local ingredients, friendly personal service and tasty baked treats.

I used to go here regularly for dessert, lunch, and to pick up lunch for my office. But my encounters with the owner have been less than positive. The only time she's ever spoken to me was to tell me it get out of her way while I was trying to order. On Valentine's Day no less! She then barked at me again and told me to stay where I was when I tried to pay my bill. It's best to call ahead for pickup, but good luck getting through. All I ever get is an odd clicking and fax noises. I asked the waiter, apparently that was the credit card machine. He said they only have one phone line for everything. Waiting is a pain because you either have to take up a whole table or stand at the end of the counter for twenty to forty-five minutes. Fifteen is the fastest I ever gotten anything. Once they gave me the wrong number of orders (there's only one item on the lunch menu) after I waited forever. I didn't realize it until I got back to the office, so all the way back again to wait some more. I didn't get a lunch break. The owner was talking with some man while I was trying to sort things out with the staff. She went in front of me, poured herself a cup of coffee (a giant, blue plastic cup, definitely not for a customer), and walked away without ever saying a word or trying to help the staff. I kept going back because the food is very good and I like supporting local businesses, but that was just the last straw. Not only have I decided not to return, I have asked my bosses send for lunch somewhere else.

We had a meeting in Florence and was looking for a place for lunch. We found The Clay Pot online and the descriptions and reviews intrigued us. We had a wonderful lunch. It was pleasant from the moment you walk up to the sidewalk tables. When you look inside the walls are covered in interesting artwork. The servers were friendly and inviting. They have one special a day and today we were fortunate enough to be there for homemade tomato pie, an organic artisan salad and grapes. It was delicious. We also enjoyed the artist exhibit in the back area. I would highly recommend this spot for lunch, coffee, tea, or a break from the day.

Cute decor in the old town portion of Florence. But that's all it has going for it. Sat am with only 2 other patrons in the shop, it took over 20 minutes to get two lattes... Not a smile to be had on the staff. Major disappointment!

Best place for lunch in Florence. Great atmosphere and even better food. I love the mint tea which always goes great with whatever is on the day's menu. They have started opening up on weekend nights with live music. Seen some excellent performers there lately.

Great coffee and espresso beverages, served in hand crafted mugs. The lunch special is always a fresh and creative dish, which never disappoints. The owner is usually mingling with the guests, adding a personal touch to this quaint and fun coffee shop/ café.
