Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

I've drove passed this place numerous time and after eating her I was completely blown away of how amazing the food was and the service!!!

Great service - A ton of food. All entrees come with soup or salad and great garlic bread.

Excellent food. .. Wonderful waiter! !!! Wish we lived here! !! The spaghetti with meatballs was wonderful. Fresh garlic on toasted garlic bread

When I lived in Florence, Stefano's was always a favorite of mine. The lunch specials are great- you get a TON of food and it's super cheap at lunch. You always get a ton of food there, portions are great but it's also high quality food. The salads are delicious and so is the bread to start your meal. I always loved the gnocchi and the pasta, and the veggie pizza (it's a stuffed pizza) is really good too. Customer service is always top-notch too. Stefano's also does a great catering business. I don't get to Florence much to eat it, but today they catered a lunch for my job (I work for a company based in Florence). The catering went well, they arrived on time and we had great food, everyone enjoyed it. Even catered, it was good quality. But I highly recommend visiting this restaurant if you're in the Florence area and want a delicious Italian meal.

Closest thing to New York pizza in Florence but they didn't know what garlic knots were when I tried to order some!!! What the what??? Seriously? Lol. Garlic knots are a STAPLE of a pizzeria. Pizza was decent, though. But I sure am glad to be back in NY with the real deal.

two nights in Florence and two great restaurants. Ate at Tubb's the first night. I was told by a local that the son of the owner of Tubb's opened Stefano's so we gave it a try - excellent ! ! Garlic spices served to mix with oil and garlic bread. I have the Build Your Own Pasta with Garlic Cream Suase. I added fresh mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes and prosciutto. Very good.

Very nice surprise. Just passing through Florence, SC on our way back from Disney. Wanted to find something other than fast food or coma-inducing barbecue joints. We checked yelp and found this place and loved it. A bit off the beaten path from the main strip of hotels on 95, but worth the drive. The food was excellent. I lived in Rome, Italy for three years and, honestly, my sausage and cheese ravioli could have been served at any restaurant in Rome. Highly recommend.

Good food but nowhere near the hype that it gets. The menu is large and the food was hot but it's not knock your socks off italian cuisine or atmosphere. A separate entrance for the restaurant vs the take out area could help the atmosphere as I was sure we were in the wrong place from all the hype I heard since moving to florence.

I absolutely LOVE this place! Hands down the best Italian food in Florence. Everything is good, the bread, the salad, everything! My favorite thing is the tortellini with Alfredo sauce, add prosciutto. The portions are very large and I always have to get a to-go box. The wait staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxed and comfortable. One of my top favorite restaurants in Florence for sure! Also, don't forget to try a cannoli for dessert!
(5)Karen W.
Awesome food and huge portions! Be sure you save room for dessert. The owners and staff are hardworking and it shows. My work place has had Stefano's cater our holiday lunch for the past few years and everyone is always satisfied. Highly recommend!

In town for a weekend. Stefano' s was recommended by a local. I need to thank her. That was GOOD! Maybe the best Italian I've ever had. And the portions are generous. Our server was great (congratulations on culinary school!). Even the temperature in the restaurant was perfect. It was a terrific dining experience.

stopped in here off the highway, food was really good!! the fried raviolis and the broccoli and cheese balls were great! The service was very good! Fast, polite, and very friendly. Wouldn't think any of this from the outside because it's in a strip mall, but it's definitely a hidden gem!!

2nd time visiting on our way home from FL. Same great, friendly service & fabulous, home made meals! Bobby had the Lasagne & he's persnickety about his Lasagne ~ ate every bite! Said it was one of the best! I had eggplant parm! The eggplant had texture, was lightly breaded & sautéed and covered with a rich tomato marinara! We had a choice of a side of veggies or pasta so we decided in veggies ~ excellent choice! With a side of wonderful toasty garlic bread! YUM
(5)Chris S.
The food is great. Love the tortellini, but the service during my last 2 visits was horrible. Dining in, the service was slow, unprofessional and generally disappointing. We had to ask for beverage refills several times. The wine was not delivered until after our entrees had arrived. Carry out, I stood at the counter for several minutes staring at people watching me until the pizza guy yelled for someone to get the counter. Then one of the watchers asked if they could help. The hostess was on the phone taking an order. The kitchen guy berated the hostess for not taking the order properly and finding out how the steak was to be cooked. Then no one tried to call the phone order back to find out how they wanted their food. Very disappointed in the service and general way customers are not appreciated.

I've eat at Stefano's many times and had them cater more than a few corporate events. The food is always top notch and reasonably priced. If you are in the Florence, SC area you need to check them out. You won't be disappointed. But, be prepared for a possible wait. The word is out and their popularity is growing and that sometimes leads to a wait for a table.
(4)John H.
We stop at Stefano's any time we are within 12 miles on interstate 95. The service is great, the food is really good. I've been to Italy, I've eaten in Little Italy, Arthur Ave. in the Bronx. I have searched out good Italian everywhere I go. As most Italians will tell you the best food they eat is in their homes. Well Stefano is sharing some very good home cooking. Nothing fancy just good ingredients, great preparation, solid service and fantastic taste.
(5)April H.
I am being generous with my rating on this one. Every time I have been the food is always super oily, no matter what I have ordered. This coming from a someone of Italian heritage. I tend to have quite enough oil on my own and do not need any extra...especially in that large quantity. The flavor has always been pleasant except for one occasion when I ordered seafood cannelloni. It was off and the taste and smell were pungent. The seasoning is their high point, but drowning it in oil kind of voids the flavor for me. The ambience is not exactly good. It's cramped and gets quite loud when they are busy. Service is hit or miss just like the food. It's an ok place. I never stick around for long because it's so cramped so I have no clue as to the restroom location, much less the condition. It can get little on the higher end of what I'd consider moderate pricing. Ex: main dish average $14-$20 on their dinner menu.

Stefano's is an excellent alternative to the "Italian" chains like olive garden. The food is inexpensive, but tasty and the portions are almost comically huge. My husband ordered the Chicken Tortellini-Fiorentina and I ordered a pasta that had shrimp and scallops in an alfredo sauce (I don't remember the exact name) but both of our entrees came with a massive salad. After we finished our salads and ate some of their delicious garlic bread, we were full. We each tried our entrees but took the rest home and had enough for two more meals each. This place is definitely worth trying if you're looking for good pasta at reasonable prices. They have non-pasta items on their menu but I haven't had a chance to try them yet.

Finally a great restaurant in Florence. Great pizza, great eggplant parm, great service and great all around restaurant. Love this place!!!
(5)Shawn M.
Stefano's is a well kept Florence secret. The quality of the food is some of the best I've had and the large portion sizes make the already reasonable priced a tremendous value. Unfortunately, the secret is getting less well kept and wait times (both for a table and your delicious meal) can at times be long. If you happen to get there during s busy time, expect to wait. Also if busy, expect special orders to occasionally get messed up. Should it happen, let the staff know as they are very focused on customer satisfaction and will bend over backwards to get you smiling again.
(4)Smith P.
Lived in Florence for 7 years and this was my first time at Stefano's. Good food, large portions, OK service and fair price. Will certainly go many times again.
(4)Britton Y.
Wonderful Italian family owned restaurant! I have been at Stefano's for many years and I have had almost everything on the menu + catering. Everything is delicious. They have the best pizza, hot subs, salads, and pasta dishes in town! It might not look too inviting on the outside being located in a strip mall but don't let that fool you! Their staff are friendly and the owners are wonderful! It's a must if you are in Florence!
(5)Gamer S.
I've been twice, the first time my sub sandwich was great, stacked with a ton of meat and a hand full of vegetables. But when I went back, and order the create your own pasta. I got a penne noodles with meat sauce, meat balls and cheese on top. My meatballs were dry, there wasn't enough sauce on my noodles, to combat the amount of cheese they put on top. So while I eat it, all I tasted was Mozzarella cheese, with a hint of meat sauce here and there.
(3)Jeff C.
Great food, great service. Will definitely eat here again! The garlic/olive oil dip and bread will have you full before your meal gets to the table!
(5)Crystal H.
Best spot in Florence to eat!!! The service is always the best. The food is perfectly prepared.
(5)Maria S.
Great place! After reading other reviews, I convinced my husband to drive almost 10 miles off the interstate to get to it. He was glad we did! And he wanted Olive Garden. Same ole' same ole'. Stefano's was so much better than a chain. Many delicious choices of Italian food. Between the four of us, we got veal parm, veal marsal, spaghetti w/meatballs and a meatball sub with bread, salad and yummy gnocchi soup, all of which was delicious! Great old Italian ambiance and our waitress, Molly, was friendly and efficient! Don't pass this place up!
(5)Mollie M.
Was disappointed in the waitress last time i was there... we waited several minutes to place our drink order. She never told us the dinner specials. And when i asked if there was a dessert menu she told me id have to just walk up to the front counter and ask bc she couldnt remember and theres no menu and too many options. that stinks that i have to eat and pay for my food and then go up front to order my dessert separate to go order. luckily both the dinner food and dessert to go were tasty despite her disappointing service.
(3)Anne P.
Amazing first visit here, will definitely be coming back to try more!! Excellent service and food!
(5)Visible Changes H.
Authentic taste, large portions, great service!

Really good food, but service is consistently slow and inadequate. Your best bet may be to order to go!
(4)Jay K.
You MUST try this place if you're in Florence and like Italian food. I lived in "Flo-town" for five years and miss this place now that I moved away. The pasta dishes are great and portions are huge. The pizza is also pretty good. The best, though, is the tiramisu for dessert. Best tiramisu I've ever had. I've tried it at other places and it never stacks up against Stefano's. Great service (rare in Florence or really the whole Pee Dee region) and it's a great place to take a date or have a nice dinner with your significant other (though I don't recommend both on the same night, ha!).
(5)Linda C.
While traveling home to VA from FL my husband and I stopped in Florence, SC for the night. I found this restaurant online and saw that it was in a strip shopping center so was a bit wary .... but we tried it anyway as I really wanted Italian. Well we were certainly glad we did! The food is EXCELLENT and the service was great! Enjoyed ourselves tremendously! Wish it was located on West Great Neck Rd in Virginia Beach!! Thanks to Stefano's for the good dinner! Linda & Bobby
(5)Monkee C.
Upgrading to 5/5, if you want italian in the FLO this is as good as its gets (Stefano's holds up anywhere outside of Little Italy and the North End, too IMO). Best bet/value is calling in your order and picking it up on the way home. Pizzas are pretty good too, won't quite satisfy a New Yorker but still good in their own right (and no contest with the "big" chain pizza joints). If you're feeling something really filling, order the gnocchi with their soup of the day.
(5)Stacie W.
Best Italian food in Florence. The salads are amazing...homemade dressings are great! The Baked Spaghetti is delish and hubby loves their calzones and subs. Pizza is good too, but we prefer everything else. On weekends go before 6 or you will wait. The waitress with purple hair(sorry don't know her name) is awesome!
(4)Kat M.
HUGE portions and best Italian by a landslide in Florence.
(5)Dorothy C.
Yes, this is a wonderful place for lunch or dinner, but do not forget they cater. Need to have a business forecast meeting for the next quarter, fiscal year or calendar year? Come on, you know how draining those sessions those can become. Brain food, that's what your team needs. Salads, hero's; hot and cold, pasta dishes, soups, even vegetable dishes. They are prompt with the order and can save you time.
(4)Ainne M.
I stumbled upon this place the first night I moved to Florence. I looked up local pizza spots on yelp and this place popped up. I ordered a pepperoni and jalepeno pizza for pick up. I picked it up, it was hot and fresh. The crust is delicious. Will never use a chain joint again as long as I am in Florence. Their pizza is delicious! Just call it in and scoop it up on your way home.
(4)Nicholas S.
Eat here quite often on wednesday nights. Great subs and pasta dishes. The pizza is not my style, too thin and crispy for me. The philly cheese steak is good with the marinara. The other subs come stacked high and are a good portion. The salads are fantastic. The parmesan peppercorn dressing is very good, my favorite dressing form here. The service is great. The staff are very attentive to our needs. The wait to get in can be a little lng on fridays and saturdays, but that is how we know they are good.
(4)J J.
Me likey. Despite being in a strip mall, the inside is a cozy, homey, simple Italian resto with broad menu and consistent quality. I was happy with just the bread basket. Florence has a little gem here.
(4)Cindy W.
Really good food, large portions, a little pricey. We like the pasta dishes better than the pizza. Bon appetite!
(4)Chad D.
I have to agree with the other reviewers, this is the best Italian food in Florence, if you think good Italian comes from Olive Garden or Chef Boyardee. The service is horrible (but typical of Florence) and the food is even worse. The atmosphere is dank and nasty but not in a cute rustic Italian way. Don't waste your time or money at this place. We've attempted their pizza twice and it's absolutely disgusting. Horrible crust, canned toppings and it's been woefully undercooked both times. Their sandwiches are revoltingly greasy and their entrées are usually comprised of overcooked pasta with a bland tomato sauce that resembles ketchup.

If you are looking for the best Italian in Florence then look no further than this place. Stefano's can also be included in the discussion of best places to eat in Florence. As an added bonus they are only about 3 miles from house so they are always at the top of my takeout list. They also cater and the business I work at uses them at least once or twice a month with good results. All said I have probably eaten at this place 20-30 times with a satisfying experience each time. Staff has always been top notch and to go orders always ready in the time promised. The place can get pretty busy on weekend nights so expect a wait. They just recently changed their hours of operation to include Sundays. Their menu offers a wide assortment of pastas, soups, pizzas, wings, subs, burgers, and appetizers. Some highlights: Appetizers: Fried calamari, mozzarella sticks, fried ravioli, and breaded mushrooms are all tasty. Since the entrees are so big I rarely get an appetizer unless I am with a big group. They offer different soups each day. One of the few dings I have about this place is the quality of their soup differs from day to day. One day the minestrone is rocking and the next day it is just ok. Entrees: Their pasta dishes are huge and usually I only end up eating half of the portion. I always take the other half home and eat it the next day for dinner. They have some of the best gnocchi I have ever tasted. Their gnocchi riscoprita is my favorite dish and includes a hearty portion of shrimp and scallops in a delicious Asiago cheese sauce. If you like seafood you HAVE to try this dish. Other winners include their chicken tortellini, shrimp and scallop alfredo, and personalize your pasta menu. All their sauces are excellent and you won't be disappointed with any of them. They also have an assortment of subs, pizzas, and burgers which I haven't tried yet. Their pasta dishes are so good I haven't wanted to stray from them. Their pizza oven always seems to be busy and I have heard good things about their subs. If you have room their Tiramisu is worth having as a finishing touch to your meal . So if you are visiting Florence or a new transplant who has never been here, what are you waiting for?

Outstanding food, large portions, and excellent service! Our server, Keana (please excuse the spelling), was awesome!
