This is the best barbecue restaurant in SC. Anytime I visit Florence, I pick up some barbecue, red eye gravy, and sweet potato casserole. It tastes great and you are guaranteed to gain some weight.

This is one of my families, favorite BBQ places in Florence, Sc. The food is delicious and very comforting. Aside from eating my grandfather's BBQ, this is the place to go for some good eats.

Roger's is a nice local buffet style restaurant. This no frills place offers meats like pulled pork, turkey, fried chicken, popcorn shrimp, as well as a few others. They also have a nice variety of southern style vegetables like cabbage, greens, sweet potato casserole, lima beans, green beans, coleslaw, and corn on the cob. There is also a dessert bar with banana pudding a few different kinds of cobbler you can self serve along with ice cream. I'm not sure if the offerings change or not because I've only been here once so far and I definitely didn't manage to save enough room for dessert. You pay before you sit down and then you can grab a plate and help yourself to whatever you'd like. Tea and water come with the meal but you can order a soda for an additional charge. When we sat down, a super friendly server asked us what we were drinking and brought us a whole pitcher of unsweetened tea for our table. I personally didn't find any of the vegetables to be bland or under seasoned but you won't find anything spicy here. I think they use classic salt and pepper for seasoning but I would be careful if you are vegetarian because I'm fairly sure they use some kind of meat product to cook their veggies. I would also say that their veggies are thoroughly cooked as they normally are with southern style cooking. I wasn't overly impressed with their macaroni and cheese or hush puppies and I thought their pulled pork was too vinegary (admittedly I'm not a fan of Carolina style BBQ) but I did enjoy just about everything else.

Made the effort to stop by Roger's BBQ on my way down I-95. Roger's is as good as ever! The restaurant was packed with patrons, so Roger's is obviously doing something right.

My family and I just moved to Florence and my In laws were in town so we decided to try this place and we were very pleased with this establishment. The staff was very friendly. We did get our food to go since my husband wasn't feeling well. We ordered a chicken and dumplings plate with macaroni and cheese, French fries and sweet potato soufflé. All amazing! Then we got fried chicken plate with green beans, and more macaroni. My mom tried the BBQ and she seemed to like it. The hush puppies weren't what I was expecting. They were small and soggy. I was hoping for a little more crunch and a little more cornbread use. Desserts we tried all 3! They were all fantastic!! Banana pudding by far my favorite. Would completely recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Do yourself a favor and stop in Rogers B-B-Q for some true down home southern cookin. Buffet style ensures instant service of your favorite foods like green beans, mac & cheese, sweet potato casserole, biscuits AND....wait for it....fat back! Don't understand all of the negative reviews when I pulled up the parking lot was packed with Locals. The food was excellent authentic southern cuisine. Fried chicken was crispy delicious and moist. Ribs were succulent and tasty. The fried fish was again delicious crispy and moist. I did not try the pulled pork because I am partial to authentic southern fried chicken but everything else was delicious, fresh and well prepared. In all this is a great neighborhood place definitely worth the detour off I-95 and finally it is a fantastic value. Includes a drink and desert for the fixed price. Will definitely be back you will too if you decide to go.

This place is awful! Inside was very dirty. The food was tasteless and comparable to school cafeteria food. The place had flies everywhere due to having holes in the windows. Yes you read that right! There were bullet holes in the windows! Noting like sharing your dinner with filthy flies. DHEC needs to be called.

This place is great. It's our usual stop on the drive from New York City to Florida. It's got a great ambience especially on a Sunday afternoon when everyone comes in all dressed up from church. The barbecue pulled pork and the collard greens are my favorite. I love this place, it's so cozy and the food is so delicious.

This place is a dump. We went here on a Sunday night after reading some reviews. The dressing with turkey was hard. It tasted like leftover turkey from last Thanksgiving. Barbecue was dry. One of the dishes was a mystery for a while until we realized that it was squash casserole. There weren't any labels telling us what the foods were called. The ribs were nice and fried chicken was great. The sweet potato casserole was also good. What grossed me out was that there were a lot of unattended kids at the buffet and they were coughing in to the food. We were afraid of making our second trip up to the buffet. Service wasn't friendly. It was kind of snarly and no smile like they didn't want to work there.

We wanted to have some local flavor for Sunday lunch, so we went about 6 miles off I95 and were delighted. Excellent country buffet, inexpensive, with a full house of local customers. Well worth the effort to find this gem.

Our relatives took us here for lunch while we were visiting . It's buffet style with all the Southern fixin's that comes with BBQ including deserts . I thought overall for a buffet it was pretty good. I would stop here again.

This was most definitely the best road food. Terrific price for the amount of food you can consume here. Absolutely worth 18$ (a person). Not far off from I-95- stop for lunch if you're passing through South Carolina. I had collard greens, green beans, squash casserole, mac and cheese, hush puppies, and above all BANANA PUDDING. my favorite. I uploaded the food plate photo :) My mom loved the pulled pork, both kinds. One was spicy! They have more than enough to offer a vegetarian. Negatives? It's a little dark and dreary, but the food is so good, you don't care. It's too bad you cant get to-go boxes. I snuck my dog some leftover fried chicken in a napkin, he died and went to heaven.

The pulled pork and Carolina style vinegar dressing was exactly what I was looking for driving through Florence, but don't come to Roger's if you are trying to count calories. The pulled pork, cole slaw, and fried chicken were great, but the Mac and cheese, potato salad were just tasteless. Most of the sides were either dripping w sugar and the few veggies that weren't deep fried were over boiled and bland. If they changed up some of their side recipes, I'd think they'd have a cracker jack of a location that would be Diners, drive ins, and dives worthy.

Stopped here for lunch while traveling for work in Florence and was not disappointed. I'm a NC girl and Roger's had all my favorite staples I can get at grandmas. I would definitely come back again.

The fried foods were good. I liked the catfish, oysters, and the fried chicken is very good. The pork bbq looked unappetizing sitting in a large pile and looked all dried up. I didn't see anyone eating it. The mac and cheese oozes with grease and I found the sweet potato casserole way too sweet.

It has been about 5+ years since I had been back to Roger's and wow it is still as good as before. Great home style cooking: BBQ, fried chicken, green beans, Mac & Cheese, corn fritters, etc. It can't be good for you but who cares, just do it!

The food here DOES SUCK! It's nasty, no brisket at all, buffet style food. The sweet tea is straight up diabetes in a pitcher. Want real BBQ? Go to Texas.

The food sucks.... Mushy squash casserole, waxy mac & cheese, greasy chicken. Everything is bland, with no seasoning. Im from Florence and have eaten there 5 times b/c my bf likes the bbq.... Its not good at all. Save your $10.

I was not raised in the south or on it cuisine, but the pulled pork seemed ok. The fried chicked is good, but normally all the good pieces are gone when they bring them out, so chances of getting them are slim. The macaroni and cheese is great most of the time, it has the right amount of cheese and pasta. Leaves you going up to the buffet just for that. Very disappointed that only water and sweet tea are readily available. You have to pay extra for a soda. The restuarant is not open monday through friday at regular times either

We stopped here on our journey from Mass to SC back on 3/27. It was a heck of a deal price wise but not at all what we expected BBQ wise. In our neck of the woods, barbeque means ribs, pulled pork, barbequed chicken, etc. This was a buffet of southern treats, most of which had never been near any kind of a wood fire. There was fried chicken, biscuits, and a whole host of southern favorites, and the price was outrageously low for the quantities, but I'm surprised they called it BBQ. Must be a southern thing. Anyway, it's sort of like eating in a cafeteria. You stop on the way in and pay, then you grab a plate and pile on, then sit anywhere you like. We were there on a Sunday afternoon and the place was chock full of post-church attendees, many with their very well-behaved children. Very nice buffet.

What can I say about this place. I'm from California so having a vinegar based BBQ was different, but the buffet was great. I think the BBQ was a little dry but EVERYTHING else was GREAT!!! I would definitely go back if I was to ever go back to Florence

If you're looking for BBQ ribs, pulled pork or brisket sandwiches, this is not the place. We're new to the area and we visited on a Sunday afternoon not realizing it was a buffet rather than an actual BBQ restaurant. There was one slightly spicy BBQ meat dish on the buffet swimming in sauce. The rest of the buffet items were fried chicken, green beans, etc. We've since found out that they are known for their macaroni and cheese and sweet potato souffle, but we didn't think either were especially good. If you like all you can eat southern cooking, it's probably worth trying.

The first time I went to the Southern 500 (a.k.a '"Too Tough To Tame" Darlington") I kept asking all the NASCAR team members where the best barbeque was in the area (Florence, SC) Their response was unanimous: Rogers Bar B Que House. As the only things that NASCAR takes more seriously than racing itself are God, Country and good Barbeque, I decided to give it a try. Whoooeeee! That's a good eatin' deal! (Your dialect becomes distinctly--and involuntarily--localized as you traverse the Roger's bill-of-fare.) Have you ever encountered food so compelling that your couldn't consume enough fast enough? Conversations cease. Good table manners are immediately jettisoned as you crazily graze through the pulled pork, the creamy cole slaw, the divine hush puppies. You actually may have had a meal a few hours before, but suddenly, you're a starving madman who hasn't seen food in years... All other things in life retreat to a distant, foggy, haze as you teeter towards a diabetic coma while eating the pecan pie, and the only thing you're conscious of is, "Dee-yang! This food is goooood!" A Southern drawl is now firmly embedded in your persona. Go ahead, do a Google search on good barbeque, and see if Rogers doesn't come up on your listing. If you really want to experience good, authentic, barbeque in the region in which it was born and nurtured to an art form, go to Rogers. Devour a masterpiece.

We made the drive down from Jersey City, NJ to Orlando, FL on 95. We were determined to try authentic Southern BBQ. After a short search on-line, we found Roger's... and I am thrilled we did! We got there just after they opened, and there was already a crowd. Roger's is a buffet styled restaurant with take-out as an option. Since we were driving through... we ate in. Sweet tea and/or Iced tea come in pitchers with your meal... but soda is extra (one aspect that this girl from the North adored)! The buffet was small, but memorable! It had several different types of BBQ. Most with a light vinegar based sauce that seems to be indigenous to South Carolina. They also had ribs with a thicker, sweeter sauce and meat that fell off the bone. They had fried chicken that was cooked to perfection... but lacked a bit in flavor. There were lots of sides, my favorite being the fried okra. So, it's not a health food restaurant. But for BBQ, it's top notch!

I just moved to Florence and asked some locals where to get some good BBQ and most had said to go here. I will admit that I am spoiled from living in Savannah, but I don't see what the big deal is with this place. The only things good here was the spicy pulled pork and green beans. Everything else was overcooked or bland with no seasoning. I'm not one to just want to fill my stomach with as much food as possible for $10 so I will have to look elseware for BBQ. Also, the sauces are at the beginning of the buffet line with no cups to put it in so you have to go back to the beginning once you pick out what meat you want. It doesn't make any sense.

That return trip turned out to be 2 days later, when I was telling my daughter about the buffet items and she "twisted my arm" to take her... I don't know if it's a Saturday regular, but this time they had boneless fried pork chops. Mmm-mmm!

Florence has a smattering of buffets most of which are chains. Roger's is by far the best Florence has to offer in the realm of buffets. First lets get some things straight. Don't go to Roger's if any of the following applies to you: -You are vegetarian. You may think those green beans, cabbage, and other non meat items are free of the evils of flesh but you don't get veggies that good without some lard, meat grease, or animal bones used for seasoning. Any place with a huge pig on the sign outside should send this subclass of people a bit of a warning bell. -You are on a diet. You shouldn't be coming to a buffet anyway but you really shouldn't be coming to this one. You won't find a salad bar or sugar free desserts. What you will find is squash casserole loaded with delicious cheese, banana pudding loaded with enough carbs to bust the elastic in your pants, and macaroni and cheese the goes straight for your coronary arteries. Wear your fat pants and bring some disposable wipes in case you get some gravy on that nice shirt. -You want a 90 item buffet. Roger's buffet isn't that big but this is good because everything on it they do very well. Some of the best BBQ you will have in South Carolina resides here. The fried chicken, fried seafood, and chicken and rice will make you rebuke grandma's cuisine. -You like wasting money. Roger's is an absolute steal at $10 a plate. You won't find a better deal in all of Florence or maybe the South for that matter. -You like frou-frou drinks with your meals. You aien't getting nothing fancy here but sweet tea and water. You ask for Coke Zero or sparkling water here and they just might toss you out. -You are at high risk for a heart attack or stroke. This folks might tip you over the edge. Just don't chance it unless you want to keep some nitro and a defibrillator beside the table while scarfing down those ribs. You won't find better down home country food than at Roger's. I have lived in Florence for three years and this place hands down wins the top place in Florence to eat award. Don't miss out!

Great food for a decent price! I've eaten here as dine in and take out. The take out portions and pretty good. The dine in experience is a bit noisy sometimes, but the food is really good either way.

After reading the other reviews, I was expecting some real great home cooking traveling through but was disappointed. On a Saturday night after 730, the parking lot in front was not busy and the large back lot we found out was empty. It was doing some brisk takeout service, so hopes were still up. In the end, the ribs were okay but either tough and fatty, and I'd pick fatty so I can trim. Fried chicken was a bit dry. Perhaps we caught a slow night where the chafing trays sat for a long while or we had leftovers from earlier that day. Beans were good. Chicken and rice was alright. Hush puppies were tasty. And desserts a plenty with angel cake with strawberries and whip cream plus banana pudding and peach cobbler. Okay, so my wife couldn't eat much and was turned off by the flavors. The kids enjoyed the fried chicken wings and Mac (which was more drier macaroni with cheese as opposed to creamy) and definitely the sweet potato and desserts. Would I go back, not likely but if that's your thing, go for it. Kids were charged by age, so we ended the night at $10pp avg... and I can see that at a buffet, people who really enjoy it can make it worth it. For us, it missed the mark. All I can say is, I've had better and I prefer ordering a la carte.

My family has been eating here as long as I can remember. It is a great place if you are craving vinegar style Carolina BBQ and all the fixings. The BBQ is chopped/pulled pork, not sauced or heavily seasoned. ( Though they do offer a Hot BBQ) It is a buffet, and I have yet to be disappointed with anything I've tried. Make sure you get some mac and cheese and sweet potato casserole. My sister is crazy for the banana pudding and I loooove the green beans! They have a to go window, so you can call ahead and pick your order up. This place is great for groups and even has a private room. The parking lot is a disaster however, so I would not recommend taking your over sized pickup truck!
