It was very very unique, especially for Columbia. If they have it that day, get the bright pink custard!

We really enjoyed ourselves...great product, great atmosphere!
(5)Candice V.
Amazing! Absolutely amazing. Everytime I try a new flavor my eyes roll back in my head in delight! Pure joy!! You have to discover this hidden treasure of main street!
(5)B H.
I'm not a fan of frozen custard in general. but the owners are super friendly and all my friends here LOVE this place. They are OBSESSED. so I recommend going because everyone loves it. probably a random review. but maybe helpful for others.
(3)T E.
Staff is very friendly and the shop was really clean. Got the lemon custard and my friend got a sorbet. It was ok, I only ate half off mine cause it was nothing special. I guess many people like it here in Columbia because it's different for the area.
(2)R R.
Didn't know what to expect...how can you survive selling shaved ice was my first thought. However it was much more than shaved ice!! It's a fantastic desert/coffee place.......
(5)Michael G.
One of a kind frozen dessert shop, and a real gift to Columbia (as viewed by a former resident just visiting now). The ice cream and unique flavors are amazing, and their beverages are great too. So nice to see a business ran like this. It was a real gem... great to go for a refreshment any day or time of the week.
(5)Saluda F.
Really cool that they pick a vegetable for frozen custard every month. Local and different ; )
(4)Dan J.
Paradise Ice has very good custard, and I've had great Wisconsin custard. I'm impressed with the quality of ingredients. The owners are friendly and the menu changes with the seasons. We've returned multiple times.
(5)Agnes W.
Delicious! Love the decor. The owners are very sweet. The ice cream is so good! Love the frozen custard and the Italian ice is so refreshing!
(5)Trevor R.
The staff here were so friendly! Everything is homemade and the flavors change over time. So it is possible that a flavor you read about here on yelp may not be there when you visit. Don't fret! Because there will be so many other viable options! It's pretty easy to miss this place even if you are looking for it just because it's small and tucked between other stores. Definitely a great spot for dessert if you find yourself in this part of Columbia.

I have to tell you that this place has very good ice cream. It is pricey, but you get what you pay for. If you want cheap & mediocre ice cream, go to Dairy Queen (which is perfectly ok). However, if you want PREMIUM ICE CREAM, come to this place! They have conventional flavors like chocolate, vanilla (albeit "Indonesia Vanilla"), strawberry (made from fresh strawberries on site), but they also have some very interesting flavors for the adventurous type of person (for instance "plum"). They so make their waffle cones on site from scratch. I could have eaten a couple waffle cones just by themselves. If you're in Columbia & want an ice cream cone on the level of "Hagen-Das"....go here! Very friendly staff as well & a cool environment, inside & out!

As a five year ice cream making pro - Cold Stone circa 2005-2010 - I could jump over the counter and group hug the couple that owns this place; I would say kiss but I'm teetering on the line of appropriateness already. As someone who understands the cost of cream and the machinery you won't hear me complain about their prices. Their product is phenomenal and the variety of flavors is dizzying. I was devastated that my pregnant-woman-esque desire for coffee ice cream wasn't satiated because they had run out but the whisky bread pudding did the job and now I have a reason to go back! I would also like to note that for one US dollar you could buy a snack for your pup and the proceeds went to charity! Dog owners - the cheapest dog snack around that will earn you even more praise at home! It does come in a little plastic cup which you won't want to give your pup but a quick snip with scissors and it's go time! I may never go anywhere for ice cream again. Thank you Sweet Cream Company.

A wonderful new addition to Main Street or I just plain missed this place altogether. The salted brownie ice cream was grand. Olive and Rosemary flavor was bad either. So many flavors to choose from and ingredients from local farms. I love it and can't wait to try the sorbet.

A family owned ice cream shop?? Oh yeah! It sits in downtown Columbia, and it is offers up a warm an inviting sitting area. Walking up to the counter you first notice that they have an array of not often seen flavors, and they offer tastings until you decide on your fave. I ended up with an ice cream sandwich (cornbread cookie and blueberry ice cream!!What??). The wife did a scoop of their strawberry in a homemade waffle cone, and she was offering up a rave review on hers as well. This place has the location, great service, a great product, and a fantastic future ahead of them. PS- They also had an offering of coffee drinks, and I did a regular coffee, and it was as good as a Starbucks any day. Bravo!!
(5)Yinka O.
Handcrafted ice cream with artisan flavors?! Yes! Passing through Columbia and decided to consult yelp. I sampled several delicious, completely original flavors and after a recommendation chose a lemon poppyseed flavor. Fresh, tart and subtly amazing! If you're looking for amazing cool treats and something other than the regular, you'll love this place! Will be visiting again! Great customer service!
(5)Jessica R.
Get the olive oil and rosemary ice cream. You WILL NOT be disappointed! Flavors change daily.

Actual authentic ice cream! I'm new to Columbia.. Stumbled across this place on First Thursday on Main St. It was the absolute best ice cream I've had so far while I've been here. All of their flavors, they make themselves which I thought was pretty cool. We tried the dark chocolate and the nutty caramel (it's called something along those lines); both were delicious. The couple (from my native state, PA) that own it are awesome also. Recommend to anyone who visits columbia.

Paradise Ice is delicious! I went a couple months ago and got the vanilla sorbet in a cup and my son had the lemon custard in a cone... I wasn't a big fan of the wooden spoon given with the cup, although it was natural and rustic, every scoop tasted like wood (maybe the flavor I ordered was too mild). My son's lemon custard was very creamy and tasteful! I decided I'd give Paradise Ice another try, this time I ordered a scoop of vanilla custard, and a scoop of blackberry honey (made with city roots blackberries - yay farm to table!!!) in a cone... HEAVEN. The two different scoops were the perfect blend of light and refreshing (sorbet) and rich and decadent (custard). So yummy!!! The homemade cone was the icing on the cake! You can rest assured that the almost all (I did see a cherry coke custard) products from Paradise Ice don't have any artificial additives, and that's a big deal for me!
(5)Colin W.
Stopped in with some friends and got the Cinnamon Coffee Crunch ice cream in a waffle cone. The ice cream was decent, I guess, but it wasn't very sweet. The waffle cone was good, but the ice cream is way overpriced.
(3)Lauren O.
Stopped in for a delicious chai tea (homemade w almond milk) and the hubby got their cookie ice cream sandwich (snickerdoodle cookies w/ Granny Smith apple ice cream), he was very pleased. Will definitely be back to try some of their unique ice creams & sorbets.
(4)Jacqueline H.
Good ice cream. Made onsite with real ingredients! No artificial goo. Pleasant staff. Very clean establishment. Patient with first timers. Will visit when in the area again. Believe the reviews this place is a great establishments to kick back and enjoy some delicious ice cream. Oh yeah, the flavor a change with the local seasons which means there is always something new to try on the menu.
(5)Rachel A.
My husband and I went yesterday and it's excellent. Homemade ice cream and homemade waffle cones. Amazing!
(5)Jordan S.
What a gem this little parlor is! The suspense of what unique flavor combinations they will construct make visiting all the more enticing! The ice cream is just so delicious. Last week my Mom, sister & I shared 1 scoop of the lemon + mint ice cream. Even split between the 3 of us, it was the perfect amount. It was refreshing and delicious - perfect for a hot summer afternoon treat! The mint was so fresh that you could taste the texture of the leaves in every bite (ahhh-mazing). This is a great place to unwind after walking and shopping on Main Street.
(5)Court N.
Didn't get any of the strange different flavors, just toasted marshmallow. Was very good.
(4)Amber G.
This is my favorite place for a frozen treat in Columbia! They have delicious ices, but my favorite is the frozen custard. I've been to Paradise Ice dozens of times. I always order something different, and not once have I had something I didn't love. If you're in on a cold day, they have great coffee. The "Cup of Awesome" is as-advertised. There are a variety of hot chocolate flavors as well. I tried peanut butter hot chocolate this winter, and HOLY YUM. The service is unrivaled also--Paradise Ice is owned and operated by a super sweet couple. Have a dog? Pick up one of their homemade frozen dog treats! Our pup loves them!
(5)Kristin O.
The perfect treat for summertime or whenever you crave something sweet and fresh. The flavors change from week to week and are exciting and new combinations compared to your usual flavors. Some of my favorites have been mojito, pear, and rosemary thyme. The Italian ices are so light and delicate, a must-try. Their coffee and sorbets are also great. And They have dog ices which my pup loves too. The environment in the shop is lovely and quaint. And a big plus, with having a mother with gluten allergies, everything they have is gluten-free and made fresh in the back of the store.
(5)Amie B.
The very best sorbet I have ever eaten!! To know that all of their products are made in house is the cherry on top!! I also had their home made chai, and I have to say it truly is the best flavor profile of chai I have ever tried! I cannot recommend this place enough!!
(5)Rebecca A.
Still amazing as always. The flavors are ridiculously astounding. I suspect some kind of witch craft. Lately I tried two different flavors and was just blown away. Espresso creme- it tasted like real creme, it was dancing on the tip of my tongue and was so light and airy. And then there were little dots of espresso beans throughout giving it a coffee flavor. I also had the coffee and donuts- WHAT! I don't know how they did it, but it was spot on. It tasted like Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts at the same time. It was amazing. I don't think I can recommend this place enough. You guys are magical. I will come back over and over again. Please never leave.
(5)Brandon D.
I can not stand frozen yogurt...but finding a quality place in Columbia that sells great frozen treats is hard. I found this place while walking on Main Street, all I can say is AMAZING! Their custard is the best I've ever had! The chocolate custard was not too rich, and had perfect flavor. I especially like coming in and trying their off the beat flavors, you never know what they are cooking up! Also...cookie sandwhices...try one...you will not be disappointed!
(5)William K.
Paradise Ice is a jewel of Main Street. I am addicted to their frozen custard and italian ice flavors. Each time I get to try a new flavor, I am delighted and amazed by the craftsmanship and love that make each dessert an utter treat. Let me write a poem to honor the italian ice and frozen custard that delights: Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice, From what I've tasted of their treats, I hold with those who favor ice. But if I had to chose only one flavor, I think I know enough of myself, To say that I can't be simple, And a second ice cream cone, Must just suffice.
(5)Rae H.
Why go to some crappy yogurt chain when you can get this? AMAZING IN MY MOUTH. Their flavor combinations make me happy. They do an excellent job of pairing savories and sweets that are bold decisions and they all marry well. Some of my favorites are what they do with citrus and herbs--like rosemary orange zomgz. Delicious. Go. Now.
(5)Liz D.
So glad for some neat little places like this have moved in to Main Street and stuck around! Paradise Ice makes specialty flavors of frozen custard, ices, and ice cream sandwiches in house. Offerings are always changing, and you should totally taste test new flavors each time you go! This last visit, I got a vanilla bourbon frozen custard and dang was it delicious! Someone else here mentioned the wooden spoons. While it's nice that they are compostable, I also agree that they add a weird wood taste to the ice cream. Easily solved by getting a sandwich or a cone! :)
(5)Ashley H.
Paradise Ice is so unique and I absolutely love trying their ever-changing flavors! My SO works an event at the Tapps building once a month so I am sure to hop on over for some ice or custard. Jessica and her husband are very likable and always willing to let you try as many flavors as you like. They also serve Turtle Creek coffee products which are equally as delicious! My favorite ice flavor this summer has been the cantaloupe- YUM! My friend Victoria turned me on to their mocha chocolate shake, it's killer! If you're on Main St. stop on in!
(5)Jessica K.
Paradise ice is exactly what it says, paradise. The service was very friendly and helpful. You could literally sample everything if you wanted to. They have sorbet and custards. For those who aren't in the 'know', sorbet I'd like Italian ice and custard is basically like ice cream. Chocolate coffee custard is the one I got on their homemade waffle cone. Amazing!
(5)Anthony N.
Best ice cream I've had in life!!Could taste it was homemade had the bourbon pecan.
(5)Swetha G.
Great little gem of a place on Main Street! My friends live in Lofts at Louries and are regulars here. I was hanging out with them yesterday and they introduced me to Paradise Ice after totally raving about the place and singing high praises on their Italian ice, sorbets, and especially home made ice cream sandwiches! The couple who owns the place are super friendly and very helpful about what they offer. And great thing is that the selection changes regularly so you can't get bored. I had a small cup of their mint Italian ice and loved it. I also tried their chocolate chip & cookie dough and thought it was just as good and something I will definitely get next time if it's there when I go again. For a small cup the price was just a few cents short of $3 and the amount given was just right. This is a business I am rooting for and hope they stick around for a long time. If you're craving something cold and sweet on these hot summer days, run, don't walk to Paradise Ice!
(5)Shannon W.
Great for gluten free! My daughter has Celiac Disease and we wanted to take her somewhere for her birthday where she could choose from more things than she was limited from. There was only one flavor she couldn't eat. What a treat for her. And all her friends loved it! Brown sugar bourbon was amazing. The owner and staff were great. Can't wait to go back.
(5)Dezz A.
I'm a huge fan on Paradise Ice. Not only do they have some of the most delicious and creative flavors and concoctions, but the owners are so friendly. I always make a point to stop by when I'm in the area.
(5)Gregory G.
I've yet to have anything here that I haven't liked. This place is a little gem tucked away on main street. I personally am a huge fan of the custards but the ice is equally delicious
(5)David N.
The reason I drive over an hour to go to Columbia! Anything time I go near Columbia, Paradise Ice is a MUST STOP. Amazing, original flavors. Very unique, and always delightful.
(5)Todd T.
This place is really unique and fanstastic. Have add custard/ice from here a few times. They change up the flavors about every month so there is always something new. Owners are great and will answer any questions. They have great coffee and hot tea as well. Tip: check out their facebook page for current flavors. They also have different cookies each month that combine their custard with fantastical toppings and such to create deliciousness. On the same block as Mast General and the Nick. New parking garage on the block over at Taylor and Sumter.
(5)Katharine K.
This local business is so much better than any chain you will find in Columbia. The flavors are so creative, and the store is very clean and cute. I love having businesses like this on Main Street, so I make a point to recommend this place to people so we can keep the area alive. What's better than eating delicious custard and supporting the revitalization of downtown?
(5)Karen S.
Trendy little place in Columbia. A few of us stopped in here after going to the Nick (a few stores down from the Nick). Do not let the limited amounts of products deter you from giving this place a try. I did not look closely, but they do a unique sandwich and change it every month (from what another couple that was at the store while we were there). Prices seemed stay the same as other shops that carry the same products. Custards are organic and owned by a local couple (from what I hear). Not busy on our visit, but it was a chilly winter afternoon. Place could pick up when it does get warmer .....
(5)Jesse P.
Awesome custard with organic dairy. The owners are friendly and it's a welcoming environment.
(5)Jen H.
This is my favorite place for ice cream in Columbia. It is the best custard and sorbet in Columbia. Truly amazing! It is a little more expensive then most ice cream places, but totally worth it.
(5)Teresa N.
This place was great. I tried their seasonal custard; pumpkin and zucchini bread. They were both amazing. The place is very classy and had a welcoming family environment.
(4)Emily D.
This is definitely a new favorite for me. I stumbled into this lovely little place while my mother was visiting, and we both had to come back for seconds before she headed home. The flavor combinations are just fantastic-blackberry sage? mango habanero? How's a girl to chose? Oh right, I got a scoop of both. The staff (I think they were the owners) was really attentive and friendly, even as my mom, husband, and I stood there spacing out at the menu board followed by a flurry of asking for samples of darn near everything. I can't wait to go again to try their new flavors!
(5)Erin L.
It's our favorite ice cream in town! Love it! These guys are always friendly and sorbets are super awesome.
(5)L H.
I am officially in love with this cute little place. The Ice Cream was honestly the best ice cream I've had in a while. The prices are very reasonable. The customer service was excellent. It's a very quiet and relaxing atmosphere which i enjoyed. I'm looking forward to trying different items on their menu.
(5)Toya C.
Walking down Main St. with my fiance and discovered Paradise Ice. Its a dessert place that offers Italian Ice and Premium organic custard. The structure is very clean and new. The co-owner was actually working today. He was very nice and patient. He even explained that all the prodcuts were fresh and made by him and his wife daily. The had a about 8 flavors each of italian ice and the custard. We both decided to get the custard. I got the butter pecan and he got the trail mix (cranberries, nuts, pretzels, and nuts). And for just a regular cup he gave us a plentfiul serving. The custard was a lot better than the custard I had tried twice at Rita's. It tasted just like he said, "a premium ice cream". I loved it. The shop had about 6 tables and some decorative art on the wall. He said that his wife took the photos of fruit and he framed them. Basically they designed and I guess help create the store on their own. It's fairly new, opened about 2 months ago but it a decent location to build business. If I ever had to go to Main St. again I would deifnitely stop there on a nice sunny day and enjoy some more of there products!
(4)Lane D.
Sorry William, but none of your reviews even make sense. Now, on to the good stuff. All of the delicious treats Paradise Ice makes are from local farms or either hand crafted flavors by the owners. This is not some chain store ice cream shop churning (haha) out powdered crap! It is soooo yummy and fresh and the 2 happy people behind the counter greet you with joy and a feeling they actually care about the product. William, you need to go have your head examined or maybe you have brain freeze from eating to much machined-out-frozen- 7 Eleven goodness from your local Baskin-Robbins. Peace....I'm Out. DJ DD
